Hd3 coming nov 2010! - HD2 General

Hail everybody!
Just wanna share with you guys an info from HTC that they will bring out an awsome HD3 this Nov. All this article taken from HTCPEDIA.
The HTC HD3 might break the line between smartphones and portable computers. The HD3 is expected to arrive in November this year and will run the “soon” to be released Windows Mobile 7.
The specs of the HD3 showed up in the wild and there just might be all truth. Along with the Windows Mobile 7 is the 1GB of RAM and ROM and to add to that arsenal it is to said to come with 16GB of additional onboard storage. Then you can get the super speed of a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, which might not be true since it is supposed to only come out in 2011. Then is the huge screen of 4.5 inch dimension compared to the 4.3 inch of the HTC HD2. It should come with Bluetooth 2.1 and A2DP along with WiMAX and Wi-Fi. Then there is the 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and should support 16 million colors and multi-touch capabilities. Then an 8.0 megapixel camera with Xenon flash. To power all of this one would of course need something strong so a 1800mAh battery will be inside. For ports it should also have HDMI, USB 2.0, and 3.5mm and microSD. Then there is also 32GB of additional storage space.
With all this sweet specs it certainly seems too good to be true, but one never knows. If it is true then the HTC HD3 is something to wait for.

No wayzz!!!! LOL!!!!!111!!
(Is is last week again?)

i want to buy it NOWWWWWWWWWW

hey stem dont worry my friend!hd2 is amazing too!we have to wait only 1 year for ne new hd so relax and enjoy your phone my friend

These are all just rumors.. your HD2 is not 'old' yet. Neither is mine. The HD2 is still one of the best.
And really this is old news. Anyway, it would be very nice if all of this was real. But like more people are saying, there are a few things that seem fake. Xenon flash is something HTC has never done. And you got 1GB ROM and 16GB internal storage AND a microSD slot?? not possible...

not true...lol
why would they kill the hd2 before it takes off?

Those specs were outed as fake quite a long time ago.

instead of the rumour mill giving us potential specs, and all the 'amazing features' it might have, perhaps they should start speculating as to whether any of it will actually work!!
and...since the release of this is (at best) nearly a year away, all manner of things will have changed by then

Why they dont use the dual core Snapdragon?
PS: I wish they improve the camera finally

no way !! it'll be a bit awkward to manage over that huge screen

It's only a fake

The rumors would be more believable if ppl finally dropped the "1280x720" screen. There is no screen under 5 inch that sports that high of a resolution, neither would it even make SENSE to do so. Expect WSVGA 1024x600 next. Also the HD2, in terms of sheer size, simply pushes it. Anything bigger i would not buy as cell phone. Also, the HD3 will most likely sport an AMOLED screen. These are not yet available (mainstream) larger than 3,7 inch atm. Maybe this changes later on but remember that OEM parts are available many months/years before HTC actually puts them in a final product.
In other words: If the parts are not available / announced NOW, they won't make it. It's funny, the Snapdragon of the HD2 has been available since 2007, the first smartphone to use it was the TG01 in mid 2009! The dual core JUST came out, yet everyone still puts in HD2 version (google, Sony, HTC), even in Spring 2010 phones. Now, i could not find a 720p screen for cell phone sizes at any LCD manufacturer (they list their OEM products online as well). It is very unlikely that the HD3 will use any of those.
What it will likely use is an updated snapdragon (45nm, 1,3 ghz, maybe dual core) and up to 1GB Ram. Those parts are available right now.

Yeah, I don't believe the 1280x800 screen res either. 1024x576 or some 16:10 equivalent would be neat: you could play any DVD rip without loss of resolution. But I doubt even that will happen.
It's entirely possible, of course, that there won't be an HD3 at all. HTC's release schedule the past couple of years has been to launch a large pure-touchscreen product in the Autumn, with a small touch-screen and larger keyboard-based product in the Spring. But the Obsession is being widely touted not as the HD3 but as the Diamond 3; and yet it isn't due out till October. Maybe HTC will roll the Diamond and HD product lines into one this time round, rather than launch both as separate models at the same time?

What ever it is guys we just wait. Nothing imposible now in technology.

HD3
In case this is true than it no longer is a PDA / Phone but a small tablet

I´m pretty certain a HD3 will be released about 12 months after the HD2. But I´m thinking about it more as a HD2 with faster CPU and 720p video recording, WM 7 onboard and probably a new Sense 3.0 UI.
Before the HD3 the logical thing is to release the Diamond 3 and Touch Pro 3. A Diamond 3 will probably be identical to the HD2 but in a smaller body. For the Touch Pro 3 I think "HD2 with keyboard, 720p camcorder, 5 MP camera and TV-out" is the logical specifications.

Those specs are bull****. Why do you believe every crap that someone posts on some forum?!
Any why is this thread in the T&A section? Should be moved or deleted.

Thread closed as nothing to do with HD2 themes and spec on device is fake

RAM: 1GB
3.8'' SCREEN
8 MP CAMERA
Dual Flash light

If I have a chance, I will see this machine later this week. and I will bring you some photos~
Wait and see.

800 MP camera? )
No no no ... what you need to know is that ... Chinese (no offenses, but i've read some articles and examples and got the chance to live see this) usually copy the style of thing in europe and give them another name. What's special about the photo, I get the same one when connecting my regular TD2 ?
I will be surprised if they keep the diamond series alive. i mean, what is the difference between Diamond series and HD series? Just the size of the LCD?
I am getting a bit weary of HTC. They are launching new device every 6 months. I got diamond 2 and within a year they have HD2 and now they seem to be planing to launch Diamond 3 in few more months. I would like for HTC to launch a phone and stick to it for a while... support it for 2-3 years. My 1.5 year old diamond hasn't seen a update for a long time. In fact, none. As HTC decided to completly ignore the US 3G GSM diamond. Same can be observed with HTC G1. HTC launched Hero and completly ignored G1. I am now closely monitoring Asus and Motorola. Let's see how they treat their phones.

True, but on the other side xda-dev is a great upgrade path in itself: you get roms from newer devices ported to your device when possible, and mixed/tuned in various ways. In fact, with xda, I feel the support is great.
However, phones are in a transition right now: the TD2 is using the [email protected], and this proc is clearly at the end of its life...So the TD2 is maybe not as great an option as it could be regarding future upgrades. For me, the TD3 would be extremely tempting if they kept the overall format (maybe get a 3.4'' screen just reducing or even getting rid of the zoom bar), add a led flash (5MP are nice, no need for more) and increased low-light sensitivity, and a snapdragon in the .8-1 GHz, >512 MB ROM and Ram. Newer phones seems to almost standardize to the snapdragon the way they did with MSM7200, and having more ram/rom than needed for the initial rom is great for allowing flashing newer roms as long as possible. WVGA is clearly the new standard for a few year too, so a phone with those characteristics would not be obsolete for a long time (about 2-3 years ;-) )

HTC HERO to Legend or Desire?

Which phone are u going to from ur HTC Hero???
Legend or Desire?
For me it has to be the desire, I want a big screen, AMOLED, and a snapdragon... but I'm still envious of that all in one aluminium case...
I'd have to second that and say Desire. Bigger screen, faster processor is great! And the added bonus is that (according to current rumors) the Desire will actually be available on AT&T, and I won't have to buy it from Canada!
This is my analysis:
Hero:
+Price now
+Sexy look
+Will take official 2.1 ROM very very soon
+Rooted
+Pocket friendly size
+Screen viewable under direct sunlight
-No LED flash
-Camera could have been better
-Relativelly small screen
Legend:
+Sexy look
+Amoled 16M colors
+2.1 built-in
+LED Flash (for photos and torch light)
+Pocket friendly size
-Price when released
-Camera with same video recording as Hero??
-Not available before 1 month to 2 months depending on countries
-Screen ''would'' not be usable under direct sunlight like the Nexus One.
Desire:
+Amoled 16M 3.7''
+Video recording 720p
+Snap the dragon CPU
+2.1 built-in
+LED flash (for photos and torch light)
-Price when released
-Not available before 1 month to 2 months depending on countries
-Screen ''would'' not be usable under direct sunlight like the Nexus One.
-NOT pocket friendly size
So you have to see which positives and negatives mean to you the most and choose
If it would be me I will take the Hero now or wait the Legend to June (sweeter price)
as a htc hero user the htc legend doesn't seem to bring enough new features to the table in order to make a new purchase. especially after hero gets its 2.1 update.
therefore the only option is HTC desire for me.
I'm gonna skip them both, htc is going to release a 1,5 ghz smartphone this year.
Only had my hero for 7 months now, still not bored with it or even thinking it's slow.
So I don't see the need to upgrade this round.
However, I think it is very possible that Hero accessories will be compatible with Legend.
So you can reuse your desktop dock, car holder, sleeve, etc.

... ok willing to wait if they're going to be releasing a 1.5Ghz phone, do you have any details on this?
To be fair I've had my Hero about 9 months and love it to bits ... was finding it a touch slow in areas, but just put on one of the 2.1 eris ports and the thing flies! ... so I'm only really looking at the bigger screen... and if I can wait longer then I get more choice...

Called the htc scorpion, rumors are that it's being released in the US before the summer. supposed to support wimax, not much different from the other htc phones. Just a faster chip and wimax. And a amoled screen.
Desire!! Although I'm looking forward to hearing more about this multitouch flaw. As it has the exact specs the nexus one got..

HTC's new phone lineup - are they losing the momentum?

There was an article recently on XDA portal about HTC losing its touch (http://www.xda-developers.com/feature/has-htc-taken-a-back-seat-on-the-innovation-car/#comments); after reviewing the latest products from HTC I must agree that there is some credence to this article.
Save for the Flyer tablet there is nothing new under the HTC sky; same old phones have just got a minor makeover especially the Desire series. I understand that the phone was particularly popular and a big seller, but must they beat this concept to death? Can there be something new on the horizon?
It has been over a year since the release of HD2 and its 1Ghz processor.
Nothing exciting since then. Meanwhile, the company has jumped on the Android platform with a gusto (and so have many others) but still producing subpar cameras, same issues since the old HD, same tech specifications, same old bugs, etc. Not to mention the battery! Even the tablet is entering the race a bit late. Not to mention 3gp video recording and resistive (?!)touch screen
I think there may be a good reason why MS has moved to Nokia instead, their announced partnership does promise something new.
I am a big HTC fan and have been a loyal costumer and would love to see something exciting coming from them but there is nothing yet.
What are your thoughts about this?
I too am a little dissappointed by their upcoming phones. The Desire HD2 is the only one to join the ranks of the dual core processors. Who knows, maybe they're working with Qualcomm and we'll see some devices by the end of the year running their new 2.5GHz single core, dual core and quad core processors.
Heres hoping anyway
I´m not really buying tech specs, I buy a device, a package. Yes, I´m not interested in average products, either.
HTC, among all other fishes in the smartphone pond, has become one of the smallest. They compete with multi-billion dollar companies which are far more powerful, some of them even developers and owners of core and key technology.
HTC has always been a company putting parts made by others together - in other words, they depend strongly on others. They indeed had some momentum with their approach to the total package. Thanks to their solution, the complicated and not-so-easy to handle WinMo became useful, some other good ideas (even if inspired by others) gave them a big group of fans. And finally, they "dared" to start sell and market products under their own brand. This step, by the way, was done not so much time ago.
I do hope they complete and/or correct the lacks and deficits they never got rid of in the past, and that they dare to take new approaches maybe, too.
The small size of the company has been an advantage in the past, now that the rules of the game have changed dramatically (especially in the past 4 years), it might have become a disadvantage. After all, if things go wrong, maybe they´ll go back to their roots: Producing OEM and ODM mass products for others.
The future will show.
The Last original phone to be released was the Desire HD... all the phones since then have been a complete knock of it or just slightly altered specs, design but in the end they all look like the Desire HD
They need a new design team because the current ones are out of ideas

It is capacitative one, it supports capacitive stylus
If this keep's happening i might even go back to the iphone =/

What do you expect from HTC? - Snapdragon processor - one of the top-end processors used in mobile devices, 576 of RAM - enough for mobile applications, designed to suit every taste, you can choose from several operating systems (WinMo, WP7, android) / * and to be able to change it on your phone.
The quantity of HTC users is comparable to iPhone users (they are more or less equal in my region).
And I'm almost sure, that less than in a year, HTC will present us a new monster. And I'm glad, that I have HD2, Android breathed a new life into it.
As for me, being one of the top devices for more than 1 Year means something
(from 11/2009)
Iphone 4g, in my opinion is the best,
- but HTC is not bad, it's cheaper (You can buy a good HTC device twice and even more cheaper);
- Different design and ROM solutions;
- Great community

I think this may just be wishful thinking on your part. HTC says it is ''touch-sensitive screen'' - they would say it was capacitative if it were so. Gosh, does that mean applying those annoying screen protectors and the resulting air bubbles - on a 7'' screen?! If you take a closer look as to why would one need to use the stylus one could not find a good reason for it. Scribbling doodles on a notepad? No, thanks!
Besides that there is a score of other issues which are going to prove troublesome for the Flyer (other phone models are not even worth mentioning):
- entering the Android tablet market late and with sub-features in comparison to competition + video recording is limited to 3gp (can't even remember what that looks like). Take a look at Galaxy Tab video quality http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/01/samsung-galaxy-tab-review/
- inferior screen quality and video playback
- at least the new Android version and not the old one (they say it may get upgraded but that is B.S., it should already be on it.)
- proposed high price
The only features which is better is a 1.5 Ghz processor.
When you enter a certain market late you try to have something different and better than your competition, such as, let's say 8'' or 9'' screen, better camera, nicer and larger screen resolution, etc.

Absolutely agree. They came up with a Snapdragon processor and the largest mobile screen over a year ago and that was it. If it weren't for the phone's ability to carry several different OS' I think most of us would have already moved on. Don't get me wrong, I love my HD2 for all the things I mentioned above but it is time to upgrade and save for another revamped HD2 clone (HD7) there is nothing out there on the HTC's market.
I started another thread after MS and Nokia announced their new partnership 'threat to HTC' because I felt that MS was ditching HTC and it seems that this feeling was right on the mark. Somebody said that HTC eschewed dual core for now because they have something better up their sleeve , that they are going to release something revolutionary later this year, blah blah blah, but I disagree. The mobile market is a fast and merciless one; if you don't move fast and be on the top or at least close enough you lose/bomb with the consumers. One does not show up at MWC just for the sake of showing up, you put your best on the line. I am afraid with its 'new' lineup HTC has lost it which makes me really sad because I loved their products.

I stand corrected! But do you think that given everything else on this device it will sell well in a highly competitive market?
Seriously, 3gp, poor video playback?
I don't think HTC have list the plot here, why keep up when they can skip a mediocre generation of duel core CPUs when they can have a quad core set in the same year which probably will have longer shelf life.
They are doing the right thing

You have to give HTC credit though, as they were able to sell the same phone with a different name. Lets hope they dont run out of names before chips.
Unless they go round again and just put a dual core in the shell and call it desire HD x 2 then we could have x3 and so on.
heres hoping HTC get some imagination

[Q] What Are Our Options Now?

I tried the Atrix and HTC Inspire in-store, and while I absolutely want an upgrade, I'm not convinced either is good enough, and am looking beyond to the next wave of Android phones on AT&T, unless nothing better is coming anytime soon.
I am subject to an odd process where I put in for an upgrade now and will get approval in four months, at which point I get to choose a new phone, which means I merely need to know that a phone I want will be available four months from now. If a good phone is coming in 5 or 6 months, it makes sense to wait, otherwise, I can put in now and see, four months from now, if the Atrix's bootloader has been smashed to hell and good custom ROMs are available, and if not, get an Inspire.
So, what good-looking Android phone are here or on the way. Here's what I've been able to determine, with pros and cons:
Motorola Atrix
Available Now
Pros:
Dual core 1 GHz Tegra 2
1 GB RAM
Fingerprint scanner
Front-facing camera
"4"G
HDMI out
Giant battery - 1930 mAh
16 GB internal memory
Highest resolution screen - 540 x 960
Gorilla Glass
Cons:
Past experience with AT&T says that custom ROMs will be few and far between
Froyo (and lack of ROMs means we can't fix this ourselves)
Slow webtop experience (we can't, yet, fix ourselves)
Internet speeds were terrible in store
4-inch screen (not necessarily a bad thing, but a point to consider)
HTC Inspire
Available Now
Pros:
4.3-inch screen (bigger than the Atrix)
HTC (ROMs galore!)
8 Megapixel camera (Atrix has 5)
Cons:
No front camera
Much smaller battery - 1230 mAh
4 GB internal memory
1 GHz Snapdragon single core processor
768 MB RAM
Lower screen resolution than the Atrix - 480 x 800
Lousy speakerphone
No HDMI
Samsung Infuse
Available Mid-2011
Pros:
1.2 GHz Hummingbird (single core, but faster)
8 Megapixel camera with 1080p video
Front facing camera - 1.3 Megapixels (four times the Atrix)
Super AMOLED Plus screen
Decent battery (1750 mAH)
As flashable as any Samsung (much better than Motorola)
16 GB internal memory
Cons:
4.5 inch screen (tablet territory, some may love it)
Lower screen resolution than the Atrix - 480 x 800
Only one core
RAM unknown
LG Optimus 2X
Availability: Who knows?
Pros:
Tegra 2, like the Atrix
Decent 1500 mAH battery
HDMI out
Gyroscope
Cons:
No carriers announced
8 GB internal memory
Samsung Galaxy S2
Availability: Q2
Pros:
Ships with Gingerbread
Exynos 1 GHz dual core processor
4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with Gorilla Glass
16 GB internal memory, 32 GB on some models
8 Megapixel camera with 1080p video and image stabilization
Front facing camera - 2 megapixels, almost 7X the Atrix
Gyroscope
Excellent 1630 mAH battery (no Atrix, but pretty good)
Quad core GPU
NFC (some versions)
HDMI out
Bluetooth 3.0
Cons:
Lower resolution than the Atrix - 480x800
Not yet announced for AT&T (but probably coming)
Looking at all that, I'm thinking that the best bet is that the only true Atrix competitor is the S2, and assume that it will come out mide July, like the Captivate. I can put in for an upgrade in late March, which should give the S2 enough time to come to market and be reviewed, plus the Atrix to hopefully get some ROMs, and make the call.
Are there any other phones worth looking forward to? Is there any other reason to choose the Inspire or Infuse, or to not put my chips on the Atrix or Infuse?
There is always going to be a group of new phones coming out soon. I'd say just pick the one you like the most at the time. If something else you can't live without comes out in a few months (and it will) just sell the phone you bought to cover most of the out of contract price of your next one.
I returned my Inspire to get the Atrix so that's where I stand there.
I would never buy another Samsung Android device unless the show a commitment to upgrading. They tend to just want you to buy the next phone instead.
LG Optimus looks nice, but I hate LG phones so I'd stay away. Generally poor build quality and software.
These questions may be better answered in the General forum, not the Atrix specific General forum.
In here you are limiting your population to people that are looking about Atrix specific stuff.
I'm typing this on my inspire. Saying that, I love it a lot. It is my first android, and in my opinion probably the best way to enter it.
My only complaint is the battery. Even being small, it does power management well and lasts longer than my dads iphone 3gs. (maybe some debate if that's froyo I guess)
With rooting/roms, I'm sure I could make the battery last longer by removing bloat ware and stuff.
the way I see it, phones are out matched months after they come out. Better phones will be developed even after phones are announced. That's what competition does to technology. So why torture yourself thinking about what MAY come out, when months later better suff will be out.

Perhaps. I guess what I'm really asking is that, now that the Atrix is available and people have tried it out, do they still want the Atrix, or is it worth waiting just a couple more months?

Absolutely. I think that what it comes down to is:
The Atrix got us all very excited, but the excitement is fading under a number of negatives:
1 - terrible pricing on the dock and tethering policy
2 - Motorola's pointless signing of the bootloader, which only removes value from the device
3 - the laptop dock has a lot of dissapointments (touchpad, speed)
On the other hand, the Atrix is still an incredible phone, and it goes us excited for some great reasons:
1 - killer processor
2 - huge battery
3 - unique features (docks, fingerprint reader)
4 - somewhat rare features (front facing camera, lots of internal [non-MicroSD] storage, HDMI out)
What makes it tough is the Galaxy S2, which doesn't have the unique features, but has everything else the Atrix has and more
Vs. Atrix:
Atrix negatives:
2 - Samsung's are easier to load custom ROMs on
Atrix positives:
1 - Also has a killer processor, one that, when tested, could even beat the Atrix
2 - Larger than average battery
4 - better rare features (better front facing camera, more internal storage
And its own positives:
1 - better camera
2 - Super AMOLED plus screen (amazing bright colors, lower power usage)
3 - bigger screen
4 - Gyroscope
5 - 1080p video
And just one known negative:
1 - Lower resolution screen
So, what this thread should really be is:
Do you still want the Atrix, or do you plan on waiting just 5 months for the Galaxy S2?
My upgrade date is in three days, I'm hoping that they'll crack the bootloader issue for the atrix pretty soon, I will not buy the phone without it.
The only real con I see for the Atrix is the lack of an LTE radio on it, if you get one you'll be stuck with it for the next two years ( unless you want to pay full price ) and LTE should be up and running ( in some areas ) in that time frame.
Even though I've been an ATT customer for 8 years I hold no loyalty to them, I'm waiting for more info to come on the HTC " pyramid " and could switch to T-Mobile if that phone has a bigger battery than the pathetic things that HTC puts in them now. We all know HTC seems to be the devs favorite brand and CM would positively fly on a dual core phone.
After owning a Craptivate I wont even consider another Samsung phone. I don't care how impressive the specs are Samsung will find a way to screw it up. If you don't like the Atrix then just wait a few months for the next great HTC phone. The Inspire is nice, but it' s just a lightly upgraded Evo and cant compete with the Atrix.

I love HTC, and really wanted my next phone to be an HTC. But I feel like I can't rely on them to bring good hardware to AT&T. My current phone is their Rhodium, and since then I've seen:
Droid Incredible - Looks great, not on AT&T
Desire Z - Great keyboard, not on AT&T
Evo - Kinda special at the time, but not on AT&T
7 Pro - Amazing keyboard, probably never coming to AT&T
Aria - Wonderful phone, my wife loves it, but not for power users
I felt like HTC all of a sudden decided it hated AT&T. Now we've got two new ones:
Inspire - updated Evo, decent but old hat, doesn't stand up to the other phones released at the time
Thunderbolt - slightly better than the Inspire, not coming to AT&T
I hope HTC comes up with something special by summer, but I'm not holding my breath. I am on my fourth consecutive HTC phone, and right now, it looks like my last.

So will you buy the new HTC Titan or stick with your Mango HD2?

As the title suggests... what will you do?
I want the Titan very much but will hold on and use my Mango HD2 for just a little longer.
Maybe next year. Will wait for all the mango handsets to come. Waiting for Nokia to reveal its phones. Nokia is supposed to have better lens.. Carl Zeiss?? All else being same, a better optics will clinch the deal, I suppose. Waiting for Nokia phones..

I was tempted but im a bit disapointed that we are only getting the 205 gpu, essentially we are only getting a 500mhz speed bump an a slightly bigger battery. Think I'll wait tbh, im more than happy with the hd2 an wp7, at the very least I may wait until the price drops. Full price for a slightly bigger screen, battery an a 500mhz speed bump, isn't worth it in my opinion

Seriusly? I don,t know why spend 500 bucks to buy a phone with a little more spec hd2. HD2 is thé kind, si the next prototype in sell from HTC comes in 2020...
I want a device where I can't see the pixels, like on the Iphone. Meaning I'll have to wait for new chassis specs from MS. Also I've often been impressed with the build quality and battery life on Nokia phones, so when I do get a new phone it'll prolly be a Nokia.
I'd expect a s3 snapdragon with a Adreno 220 gpu, not second gen s2 stuff, I mean s4 snapdragons will be out very soon, so effectively the titan will be 2 generations old by time its released! Seems daft if you ask me, perhaps the listed spec is wrong but several sites say its deffiniely an s2

I was going to get one till i saw its 840x480 still on a bigger screen i mean wtf lol and 1 upgrade from the crap gpu thats in my hd2 right now and all for £500 probly here sim free in the uk. No thanks
Im waiting on a phone from htc thats got dule core cpu a good gpu and higher rez screen then i will be willing to spend £500 on a windows phone until that day i will stick with my hd2. i just hope one day someone comes along and fixes the bug with the battery drain
i think im sticking with my hd2 seeing as my contact doesnt end till april, but hopefully by then i will be able to get a dual core with 1080p video
dont expect too much from Nokia Carl Zeiss
Hey man, I've had Nokia N73 N95 and Nokia N95 8Gb, and let me tell you that I love by far the pictures taken with our HTC HD2 with Windows 6.5 with WP7 still being not so good you know... but really the Carl Zeiss lens in Nokia NSeries isn't so good as marketing says .... lets wait for new models with WP7 but I really think that HTC is a better brand ....
I have my HTC HD2 now for 2 year and the material that is made is really fantastic, until now the metal still being like new from factory the display the same... maybe some scratches after 2 years on buttons... and the experience with Nokia mobile phones is really the opposite, I had this Nokia N95 two years and the battery is fat you now like blowed not working anymore, needed to buy new one and the cases are like chinnesse plastic soo BAD !!! I needed to change my cases 2 times in 2 years .... soooo really HTC has shown soo good battery life itself and so good cases life.....sooo In my opinion I wont change to any other brand HTC !for me until now has been almost the perfect mobile phone

Very interetsted in the Titan, like the idea of 1.5GHz CPU and bigger screen. Also native WP7 support would be good. Not sure about soft buttons though, heard bad things about them.
Definitely interested to see what Nokia can do. My first smartphone was a Nokia 9110 back in 1998. Would love to see a modern day offering from Nokia - they've done some great hardware.
But do we really need a dual core CPU which will just eat into battery life? Surely a 1ghz processor is more than enough to run WP7 (HD2 is proof) so a 1.5Ghz single core is more than plenty. Also again surely 480x800 is plenty (HD2 is proof) and YouTube reviewers of Titan said you can't see pixels on the 4.7" display. We don't need to be able to play 720p videos on our screens as the resolution is only WVGA remember.
So, I think the Titan is a great upgrade. Bigger screen, thinner, faster, WiFi tethering, better camera, front facing camera, better sound (5.1) etc.
I paid £500 for my sim free HD2 on launch date. I am tempted to sell it and put money towards Titan.
The only thing I dislike about the Titan is the double edge bezel design above the screen. Its horrible and does not match the bottom of the phone and thus spoils
the look.

Bigger screen isnt better, its larger, and may suite some folk an not others, i wouldnt shell out 500 on half an inch
Your right about the dual core, we dont even know how WP could deal with such a thing, but what is missing from the S2 Snapdragons is the GPU/memory the Adreno 220 is between 100% to 400% faster than the S2 Adreno 205 which is slightly faster than the Adreno 200 we have, there is also the memory and power consumption improvments.
Shelling out 500 on a device that is 2 generations obsolete before it even hits the shelves (S4 on its way which also comes in single, dual and quad core an over x16 improvment in speed over our HD2 and significant battery drainage reduction) sounds more like HTC trying to clear Snapdragon S2 stock rather than provide us with a new device, we would be getting a minimal improvment over the HD2.
Its like me trying to sell you today a 3GHz Intel Prescott CPU for the full ~£300 it cost AS NEW ~6/7 years ago, "But its new, its never been used before so why wouldnt you pay that price? it is after all faster than a ATOM CPU?"
Where did you get this 5.1 sound business? i didnt see HDMI output on the spec, just curious,
Its 1.1mm thiner, 10mm Longer and 3.6 mm wider and a few grams heaver, 1.1mm thiner isnt much to shell out 500 quid on
Some good valid points. As for the 5.1 reference, this is taken straight from HTC's site.

I don't believe that. I can clearly see the pixels on my HD2, so why wouldn't I be able to see them on a device with an even lower PPI?
EDIT: Also, I actually don't think it's dual core.

curious, as far as i am aware Bluetooth doesnt transmit 5.1, a 3.5mm Jack sure as hell cant, perhaps there is some sort of USB pass through
I wonder what exactly they mean.

Hmm, im not sure, as far as i know The world of PPI,DPI Dot Pitch can get quite confusing, especially without all the facts.
by having a set resolution over a larger screen would decrease the outputed PPI
however the screen may have a significantly higher DPI and with some clever use of interpolation and Dithering may "hide" that, it also depends on distance from the screen, generally speaking the larger the screen the further away you are from it, if i get close enough to a Iphone 4 i will see them. if i hold an iphone at arms length you will not beable to see the difference between an HD2 and iPhone. Theres lots of variables including your own eyes so dont count it out until you see it.
Sure, HTC may be using some kind of tricks to mask the low DPI of the Titan. But I haven't seen the device IRL so I wouldn't know about that.
No-one holds the device an arm's length away, though. Hold an Iphone and an HD2 at a comfortable distance, and the difference in PPI will be very visible, assuming you have average eyesight.

well i have certified perfect eye sight i can cant see a difference at a comfortable distance, most people hold phones and books far too close to their eyes and do not even know it, it places a lot of strain on them which isnt good for you.
what i can see is that on SOME specific types of pictures it does display colour banding.
Go sit 6 inches from your TV screen and see how long you can last before you get a headache
anyhow, point is, the PPI on the device is a mute point until you can actually see it. Still wouldnt consider getting it as new just yet, not worth the cash for a small upgrade, and i think the half inch extra screen is a waste too, HD2 is plenty large enough.
