Remove T-mobile UK image compression? - HD2 General

Has anyone been able to remove t-mobile's annoying image compression? When browsing the web all images are heavily compressed in browsers and ROMS that I've tried.
Apparently German tmob customers can change preferences online and usb stick users can remove it using the connection manager. Probably isn't possible, but thought it was worth asking

Using my phone as a modem (with T-Mobile UK) I use the modify headers add-on in Firefox. You can then change two settings:
Name: pragma, Value: no-transform
Name: cache-control, Value: no-cache
When they are both enabled you can get uncompressed images. I've never looked into why but it does work. Maybe that might be of use in some way?

I've seen this before, but there's no way to modify headers in opera via the usual opera:config page. Nothing else seems to work either.

I was with T-Mobile UK for quite a while and I never noticed any image compression but then I never used their proxy servers.
Do you still get this when not using their proxies?

I removed tmobs proxy settings from the connection. Via Wifi I get perfect images so I know they must have some compression running. The extra speed is great, but the compression is just too heavy for my liking.

same story here, removing the proxy settings did not help

I have no useful advice to offer, sadly, but if anyone ever figures this out, please let me know!

I'm on T-Mobile in the UK and I hadn't noticed this until I've just read this thread. Now it is really annoying me. I haven't got any proxy specified and I can confirm that when roaming (ie not connected via Wi-Fi) Opera does indeed display compressed images (badly compressed).

Opera and IE as well (so it's clearly not the faulty of the browser).

t-mobile have had compression on web images for ages, it's annoying but hardly noticeable on my HD2
On my netbook it's really annoying but shift +R removes compression on a single image and shift +A removes compression on all images on a page.
Not tried the Name: pragma, Value: no-transform / Name: cache-control, Value: no-cache workaround but I've made a not of it and will give it a go.

Hmm
Have you dived into the registry to look at Network settings? Or Failing that, have you tried to set another proxy server? There are many available on the internet.
Other than that, I'm not entirely sure.
Some one much smarter will have a look at this thread and say something.
Also, believe me I don't mean this in a patronising way, but did you soft-reset after applying no proxy settings?

I think you'll find you did mean that in a patronising way but yes, I haven't been using T-Mobile's proxy server (or anyone else's) for the past 2 months, now - I had to deactivate it because for some reason it interferes with Outlook's ability to fetch email from my POP account. Switching it off makes no difference to image compression.
I did actually ring up T-Mobile tech support about this once, and was told that there is no way to configure an HD2 to prevent the compression - but they might have been wrong. I live in hope.

im on o2 and found compressed images too.
but it only happened after i changed from stock rom.
unless o2 has just started this recently i have to believe its a phone setting.
(made too many changes to revert back to stock rom for proof :/)
also noticed its only in opera an not explorer once the cache is flushed. and yes when using wifi it doesnt have any compression. so i think the phone is sending data telling the data provider to use compression.
with that said there must be a way to stop the compression.
anyone found the solution yet?

solved it ... the compression does come from the network provider and they can give you alternative servers

Tmobile compression is done on a transparant proxy between there server and proxy server. Thus dissabling the proxy does not actually stop traffic being routed by the transparant proxy.
I see there is some software provided by tmob for changing image compression when using their 3g dongle. I wonder if that will work on the phone, by using the phone as a modem you may be able to use your PC to connect to your account and adjust the compression setting.
Will have to wait untill im home in a few days and give it a go

for everyone on o2 you can disable the compression by changing the username for the mobile web settings, change it from o2web to bypass leave the rest of the information as it is. Clear the cache for your browser and reload and you should notice an improvement on the pictures. Might need to soft reset.

Is this still unresolved for T-mobile?

Did you speak to T-mobile to get the "alternative servers'? Can you share the settings that disable the compression?

Bump.
Interested in potential compression removal on T-Mob UK.

funnily enough I'm using my HD2 now as a modem and I went looking for this solutionagain. I'd done it last year on another laptop but couldn't remember exactly how to do it again.
anyway this solution from T-Mobile forums works great
If you use Mozilla Firefox you can make the browser do the job for you and disable the software that controls the images.
In Firefox go to
Part one
Tools > Add ons > Get Add ons > Click in the search and enter modify headers > You will get a few results, scroll to the one named 'modify headers' > Select Add to Firefox >Accept and Install > Install now > Click to restart Firefox
Part two
Tools > Modify Headers > Top leff drop down select 'Add' > Click in the name box (its next to where you just clicked to select add) enter this: Pragma > In the Value box (next one over) enter: Cache-Control > Click the Add button to the right (it will drop down with a green spot)
Again
Top left drop down select 'Add' > Click in the name box (its next to where you just clicked to select add) enter this: Cache-Control> In the Value box (next one over) enter: No-Cache> Click the Add button to the right (it will drop down with another green spot)
Part three
Bottom Right Hand Side click 'configuration' > Under General tick 'always on' > Close the box
Then Clear the Cache and History in Firefox and restart the Firefox and hey presto, clear images.

GPRS web browsing problem -limited access and no full google

I'm on Tmob USA's GPRS which works fine, except certain pages (like the html full version of google) or blogger.com just will not load over GPRS. I've tried some registry tweaks to make my browser look like another browser and some other tweaks that were recomended and I still have no luck.
I believe another JasJar user was able to set the preferences at Google to always load pages as HTML, but over GPRS I can't save my preferences on that page to do so. Over wifi I'm able to connect to any page just fine (and I've set my google preferences to HTML from the device on wifi), so I believe somewhere the device is changing the settings depending upon my connection method.
This is one of my last JasJar bugs that's driving me nuts. Please help if you can!
Really, no one else is having this problem? crap....
After my last hard reset google keeps diverting to www.google.co.uk/pda. I think that's because I haven't used Tweaks2k2 to change a few bits, as I normally do, but you can still view 'proper' google, by going into preferences (on the website) and changing the default to 'HTML'

See, I tried that with no luck. When I navigate to the preferences page over GPRS it fails to save my preferences, literally every time it times out. When I use Wifi I can navigate to the preferences page and save the preference for full HTML, but it still doesn't load when using GPRS. It's pretty clear that it's using a different set of connection settings when the connection is made via GPRS. What settings do you use with Tweaks2k2? Maybe that will work for me...
As I see it, there are three possible reasons:
1) The connection is not a full internet GPRS connection and maybe instead going to a "walled garden", or using WAP
Go to settings, connections, connections, Manage existing connections and duplicate the settings from your Universal onto another device capable of taking your SIM card. Try that sim card in another device with the same connection settings. I expect you'll get the same results. If so, post the settings here
2) Tweaks has done something undesired. Can you list a few websites that are failing? Personally, I'm reluctant to install ANY software until I'm 100% convinced I need it. This applies also to my desktop and trippley so to my server
3) Blame the user
I reckon it's 1)
I just set it to recognise pIE as IE6.0
I'm not convinced that that's going to fix the problem you have though, because I'm sure that I've had that problem on other PPC phones which I never used Tweaks2k2 on, and there was some other way to fix it.
I'll have a play around and see what I can come up with...

Some interesting ideas there. Some of the sites that are failing include:
www.google.com - I can't access the full version and the PDA version hangs constantly during loading and loads results very slow, no images shown when image search is done.
www.blogger.com - It tries to load www.blogger.com/start which again hangs terribly and loads a version of the page with no images.
Various internet shortcuts I imported over from my bookmarks I used on my Dell Axim X30 (PPC2003SE). I'll have to pull a list later if I'm still having this problem.
I don't have another PPC Phone device so I can't try the settings swap but it does sound very likely. I am currently using the cab file from imate for tmobile USA settings (which does create a connection called "tzones" which kinda worries me), it uses the internet2.voicestream.com access poin. I had also manually configured the settings previously using these settings and still had the same problem (pulled from a hofo post by Mashie):
Goto Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Add new ISP...
Give it a name (T-Mobile)
Select Cellular Line (GPRS)
Next
APN = wap.voicestream.com or internet2.voicestream.com (whichever you like)
Next
Next
Finish
leave username, password, domain, etc... all blank
Click to collapse
But maybe I need to try some different settings... I'll try playing with the settings I have, creating new settings, and hounding some other Tmob USA GPRS user's settings (hopefully someone using another jasjar).
Re: #2, I haven't actually used Tweaks, I used Resco registry editor to try and make the browser appear to be a full PC browser. I tried a ton of registry settings suggested by some more Hofo super-users, but nothing worked. I eventually got really creative and desperate with some registry edits and finally hard reset the device, tried the suggested reg edits again without success, then hard reset again.
Re: #3 - lol. I seem to be the only one with this problem, so I'm not rulling it out... I was a bit worried someone was going to suggest that the PEBKAC (problem exists between keyboard and chair).
www.hotmail.com and www.handango.com are sites I have experienced cannot be accessed in their full PC version. The PIE on the JJ takes us to the mobile sites.
Likewise a strange thing happens when I try to log into the "PocketPCDubai Forums". PIE starts to download the site page. I can see the progress indicator gradually move up. When about 180 Kb has been downloaded the progress indicator disappears meaning that the page has fully been downloaded. Nevertheless the page is blank and with nothing on it.
I also have tried to modify the registry to make the PIE appear as a full browser but nothing seems to work.

Has anyone had this issue and resolved it via ROM upgrade? I'd be ready to upgrade the ROM right away if I knew it fixed this issue. If not, I'd rather not waste a few hours setting up, reinstalling, and configuring everything.
Does Mozilla Minimo work on the JasJar?
If it does - I believe that might offer a more feature full alternative to the bundled pocket PC InternetExplorer Galt.
Hope this helps
Finally remembered the address that I used to use for Google when I had this problem on my Jam...
http://www.google.com/webhp
That wont redirect you to the /pda page. There are probably similar pages for other websites, but this is the one I used most!
This registry hack will make Pocket Internet Explorer identify itself as IE 5.5 on Windows 2000. However it will prevent web sites that provide Pocket PC specific content to be able to know you're actually using a Pocket PC
Change Pocket IE to IE Version 5.5 (For Secured Sites)
1) Go to the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\?CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\ key. 2) Set the default value to "Mozilla/4.0" (Default is "Mozilla/2.0"). 3) Set the "Version" value to "MSIE 5.5" (Default is "MSIE 3.02"). 4) Set the "Platform" value to "Windows NT 5.0" (Default is "Windows CE").
This will only work on some secure sites that check version number rather than perform a check for support of secured transactions.

I finally upgraded my ROM to the latest 1.13.53 version and still couldn't resolve this with alternate URLs or registry edits. Any ideas, anyone? I'm using the T-mob USA cab settings from imate...

T-Mobile MMS/GPRS Question

For some reason I've done this a thousand times but its not working this time. I'm pretty sure I've set this up right but its not working. 1st question: Is it possible to send MMS messages through 'internet2.voicestream.com'? It works through 'wap.voicestream.com', but then GPRS/EDGE wont work through that, it will only work through 'internet2.voicestream.com'. In addition to that, the auto switch isn't working for me. The MMS is trying to use 'internet2.voicestream.com' and the GPRS/EDGE is trying to use 'wap.voicestream.com'. 2nd question: Is there a way to set this up MANUALLY, without a provisioning cab? I hate those things, they add in other customizations that I don't like or want.

I've been using the T-mo cab since day 5 (days 1-4 I was racking my brain trying to get MMS to work) and it configures the connections as follows:
-Use internet2... under "My ISP" (or "T-Mobile US" in your case)
-Use wap... under "My Work Network" and change the "Connect via:" setting under MMS settings appropriately. Also, proxy settings are enabled for this connection ("This network connects...." and "This network uses..." both checked, proxy server blank, and under advanced settings: WAP server is: 216.155.165.50:9201)
-Network management (under the advanced tab of connections) => "My ISP" in the top, and "My Work Network" in the bottom.
The autopick within a connection never seemed to work for me, but the above works fine. In order to send an MMS, you must first disconnect from your GPRS/EDGE connection (alternatively, MMS will be the first to connect when recovering from a dropped data connection).
Hope that helps, if not just run the provisioning cab...hell-of-a-lot easier and I don't see what "other" things are added, all it does is set up the network connections and all the settings, nothing more, nothing less. Filename of the one I've been using for quite some time is T-Mobile_USA_Internet_UNI_SA_V2.0.CAB

Dunno which CAB you've been looking at, but the one I use has 4 files: an XML file for network settings, registry settings file (for MMS), and Check/Recheck executables for installation. No changes to favs, home page, etc...
The is the same one I've been using since grabbing from I-Mate's website back in Oct. '05.

well the ones from tmobile's extended rom do. and quite simply put, i dont want to use a provisioning cab.
now the question at hand is... has anyone gotten the auto pick to work with manual configuration and not with provisioning cabs
Odd wap.voicestream.com works fine for me for my edge connection. Makes it real easy to send an MMS no dropping connections or anything. I've used the above mention method using two different settings before works fine but not the autopick method.

[Updated]AT&T SETTINGS FOR DUMMYS

Ok ok, I edited this post because at&t doesn't provide the exact details and there is no thread on here that has all the settings for it.
To get to the connection settings:

MEdia Net:
General: MEdia Net
Modem:Edit(MEdia Net)/New(Create Media Net):
Name: MEdia Net
Modem:Cellular Line (GPRS , 3G)
Hit next
Access Point name: wap.cingular
Hit next
Leave first three fields empty(if you know what to put put in but it doesn't really matter)
Hit advanced
Select Use server assigned IP address
Select Use IP Header compression
Servers:
Select Use server assigned address
HIT OK
Hit finished
Proxy Settings:
Select This network connects to the Internet
Select This network uses a proxy server. . . .
Proxy Server: wireless.cingular.com
Hit advanced
Hit HTTP
Port:80
Hit ok
Hit Socks
Server: localhost
Port: 1080
Hit ok
AT&T ISP:
General:AT&T ISP
Modem:Edit(Edit My ISP*Change name to AT&T ISP GPRS*/New(Create AT&T ISP GPRS):
Name: AT&T GPRS
Modem:Cellular Line (GPRS , 3G)
Hit next
Hit next
Access Point name: isp.cingular
Hit next
Leave first three fields empty(if you know what to put put in but it doesn't really matter)
Hit Finish
Hit ok
Your done with the internet settings
Select MEdia Net then its totally done and to test it out go to
http://device.home/(It wouldn't normally work with out the proxy settings)
Well, I found them.
It's all over Howardforums.com for years if you'd search there.

Am sure a few lazy so and so's like...erm me (sometimes) will find this useful. Maybe put some other settings up on this post for other operators. Perhaps worth a look around via search first as its likely to be something that someones already done. But can't be sure.

Why not just use a .cab to do it automatically?

I had MediaNet seperate so I kept having to change it. Much better this way.

Thanks alot for the info. I was having trouble accessing Cingular Video after flashing to Duttys rom.
i was very confused about this and erased all of the connections
why is there Media Net and AT&T ISP GPRS?
I know this is supposed to be for *dummies*
so i guess i am one
But what's the reasoning behind needing two of them?

5 stars!

I am not sure if there is anything new but this didn't work for me. I tried this on my Tilt 2 flashed with Sergio76's The Cell ROM v9.5 AT&T (just has the AT&T dialer and nothing else AT&T). I had used a cab that fixed all of the settings to what's in the post except the AT&T ISP which I took care of no problem. However, when I go to Media Mall and search for an app, I'm told there are no results for my handset. I looked at the device ident in the settings and the IMEI is there but the s/n is wiped and I can't edit it. Maybe with a regedit...I dunno. I haven't had the time to try that. It was an idea. There's something that was wiped off the phone that identified my device to AT&T...maybe some sort of hidden proxy or certificate or simply the s/n. I haven't found any Tilt 2 users so far that are able to or even use the Media Mall so I dunno. If anyone else knows something or has figured this out please clue me in. I wouldn't mind being able to get back to the media mall.
Thanks for any help...

I have also been trying this without success. I currently have two versions of the SKY+ Java software, one which works with the touchscreen one which doesnt. the touchscreen one always times out during connection whereas the non touchscreen one says "The data connection has failed" whenever I press the login button. The app itself seems very compatible and appears to fill the WVGA screen very nicely, however we will need someone who knows a little more about how to "point the the java app in the right internet direction" (excuse my non technical description, this is where my technical ability runs out ) the java emulator itself does not help much as it contains no options to apply to the app
I have it working great. Just install the JBED Java version and then install it from inside that. It only logs in when you have the Vodafone proxy disabled though.
It's great to have a 50 channel EPG!!

could you please expand a little, how do you 'disable the vodafone proxy'? as far as I can tell that doesnt really make any sense! I really want to get this software working so any help you can give as to how you set yours up would be most appreciated, Thankyou
This worked for me:
Install Jbed attached above and use it to install the Sky.jar program.
On your Xperia go through:
settings
then select the connections tab
then the connections icon
followed by the advanced tab
Now chosse the select networks button and in the top drop down menu (the connection for programs which automatically connect to the net to use) and change it to "WEB" rather than "My ISP".
My ISP uses wap.vodafone.co.uk as an access point name via a proxy server.
WEB uses "internet" as an access point name without using a proxy server.
You do need to also do the following to get the service runiing:
1. Register for "my sky" at the sky website.
2. Add remote recording to the list of services runningon your my sky account
3. Activate remote recording on your sky box through its menu system
I've tested it out and I can access the 7day listing guide and send record instructions straight to the box (only takes 1-2mins).
Has anyone got this working on an o2 X1 - I don't have a "Web" option in my connections!

The WEB is a Vodafone name. I know o2 work on the same type of system (web and wap) so if you list what's available we should be able to take a guess at which one you should be using.
Hi artesea, thanks for your response. I have just tried again.... the o2 X1 has a choice of My ISP or Work Internet - so selected Work Internet and bingo it all loaded at connected at last
Tested it and within five seconds it updated my sky HD box!!!!
Thanks all!
Hi,
Sorry for the slight change in direction in the topic but it is relevent (hopefully you guys will agree)
whats the difference between "My ISP" and "work Internet" other than one points to the providers proxy server? Im with o2 and have the unlimited web bolt on - is this only unlimited web as long as i go through the "My ISP" connection?
If not, I dont actually see the point in going through the ISP's proxy at all?
Cheers,
Craig
Both Vodafone and o2 have two types of connections, can't remember the exact names so I'll call them INTERNET and WAP.
They were set up back in the day when the internet on your mobile was WML files and not much else.
WAP would allow you to access the internet on your phone, mainly to the companies own portal (Vodafone Live! etc).
INTERNET was to be used by a computer connected to the phone via Infrared or data cable. The networks have compressors at their end to decrease the size of the files to make it quicker and cheaper (you might notice images look crap). Connecting over WAP wouldn't work.
Since then phones have got very smart, and networks are getting behind.
For example you can't access Vodafone Live! whilst using INTERNET, but then you can't access a 3rd party app on WAP.
I can see that some apps are being allow over WAP (google maps), however I've found it a lot easier to have everything running over INTERNET.
Not 100% sure if o2 will allow you to use INTERNET in your bundle, but Vodafone do.
Can someone post the Sky Remote Record java app? Or at least post a link where they found it. I have it working on my X1 but the program size is so small it is hard to read.
How do you get around the issue of logging in using an O2 X1? I have the app installed and can enter username and password but can't select login. I saw a suggestion was to map the left and right keys to volume up and down (think it was for a differernt handset though) but when in the buttons settings there is no options to remap these keys to volume.
The left and right buttons are mapped to Login and Exit already.
My problem is the network not found problem. Like hell I'm installing another Java. I did that with my old Polaris and had nothing but problems afterwards.

But on my handset (and I know some other peoples) the login button (left softkey) does not function so you can't even login. It would appear that some people have a workaround for this, just wondering what that is.
after a bit of hair pulling i finally managed to get this to work at last.
I finally bit the bullet and de-vodafoned my device to the new R2A ROM (using SD card method - see other threads for more info).
I use AE Button Plus to remap the left and right soft keys to "hard" keys (select left key -> 3. Handle by AEBplus -> 1. single press -> 11. press left soft key. Same for right (soft)key). After hitting OK choose file then "save & exit"
This might help O2 users with the connection setup.

If you are looking for the two applications required then goto message #3 of this thread (thats on page 1) then click the link. Goto message #4 of the resulting thread for links to the applications
Help
I have reassigned the left and right key with AE Button Plus but still cannot login or exit via the keys?
Any help out there?
For me, the hard key to log in would only work when the keyboard is open. Odd, but gets around it and I can now at least remote record.
I have just assigned the buttons, so they always operate the softkeys, which is a bit annoying as I prefered one for rotate screen. Is there a way to only map the buttons within the Java app?
Thanks sebring
This appears to be the same for me.
Keyboard open and the reassigned keys work....really strange that.
Thanks again.

Unable to connect to the internet on Vodafone

Hi
I bought a Generic unbranded X1. I put my Vodafone SIM in it and did a hard reset as Vodafone have suggested. When it has finished setting up and downloaded the settings from Vodafone I still cannot access the internet in either IE or Opera. I have searched the internet and tried changing the settings but still get nothing.
Can someone please give me a list of all the settings I need so that I can manually set up the connection.
By the way it's a Dutch Vodafone SIM but that makes no difference as internet was working on my P1 and the ANP and user name and password are the same.
Thanks
Ed
same problem, tried the given settings from the vodafone site (business contract).
no results. waiting for a sollution.
ps. my t-mobile SIM works okay.
groet, Steven
This is the daft thing. I put my UK O2 SIM in and everything works fine.
Why is it that Vodafone have to screw everything up. Surely it can't be that complicated.

The best thing to do is to delete the vf settings (there's a reg key that you change to enable them to be edited on this very forum) and then start again from Scratch.
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Destinations\<Account> and then modify the ReadOnly key to 0.
One of the main problems is the stock setting of "my isp" by VF, this seems to screw up connect via "the internet" which is what quite a few progs are looking for.
Disable all proxies and check to see if the advanced network settings uses chap rather than pap.
Personally I got rid of all the PAYT stuff and the wap, I never bother with either microsoft or vodafone live services.
Other option is to flash to an unbranded rom..

Appreciate that, but he mentioned something about it doesn't matter that it is a Dutch Vodafone sim. Just trying to be helpful....
Also I suggest using (for VodaUK)
Access point name: internet
User Name Box: web
Password: web
Homepage: http://www.bbc.co.uk/
You get more applications running over the internet APN, only thing which won't work is the Vodafone Live homepage, which is pointless anyway.
Hi Guys,
Had the same problem - until I read something on this forum earlier.
Try this:
Go to: Start --> Settings --> Connections --> Advanced Networking
And change the band from HSUPA/HSDPA to GPRS. Then soft-reset.
The connection settings (as on the website unchanged) from vodafone should now work.. (did for me).
You can then change it back to HSDPA or HSUPA/HSDPA (and it should still work)..
YES at last, you are a star. That has at least got me getting a connection.
My panels update themselves so I know that the phone is receiving data.
My only problem now is that I cannot load any internet pages either in Opera or IE. Windows Live will not let me sign in and neither will MSN Messenger.
No worries - had the same issue on my Dutch X1i.
Do your panels run in the background? It seems mine terminate (i.e. if I activate FB, then switch to the fish, the FB panel terminates).
On your connecting, had that problem with my Kaiser - until I worked out that the Connections applet under Settings-->Connections-->Connections is fussy.
Make sure you have your GPRS settings in "My ISP", and that My ISP is selected under "Select Networks" for "prgrams that use internet".
If you are using a proxy, you'll notice that you can't get a proxy under "My ISP". Don't ask me why MS did this
Set the proxy settings under "My Work" (without a GPRS Modem connection under "My Work". I think it defaults to use the modem connection under "My ISP".
All other permutations (creating your own set of settings under "Select Networks", using a mix of own/My Work/My ISP, proved to be unreliable. Took me months to work that out.
Good luck, let me know the above needs clarification.
Thank you very much Calvin. That has got it all working perfectly.
By the way I have the same problem with the Facebook panel. If you navigate away from the Facebook panel by selecting another panel then it logs you out, however if you just start IE, Opera or Windows Live over the top of the panel then it keeps you logged in.

Nice - only a pleasure
Yeah, I noticed that too so it seems the panels API replaces the today screen with an overlay when you choose a "panel", which is probably why you can have either Today or Radio or Dashwire. Lol.
Ah well, still quite a functional interface I think.
Proxy server
To all of you: if you just switch of the proxy server of your Vodafone Live! connection then all problems are gone. Only thing is you cant't access the Vodafone Life! pages, but who cares about that.

And if you set the proxy server as part of the Work Network, then everything works.. Problem originates (*I think*) where Windows Mobile wants to use "My ISP" regardless of what you set in Connections-->Select Networks. So unless you know the relevant Reg Hack(s), ur effectively stuffed. This might be especially true for things like Messenger.
Drove me nuts for MONTHS. I'm happy to say that mine works now (vodafone live, internet, all applications, everything etc).
Anyhoo, just thinking out the box, setting the proxy server together with your ISP settings (e.g. settings bundle "Vodafone Live!" together with Proxy IP) might very well route all your internet traffic through the Vodafone Network (and presumably firewall, thus protecting your device from e.g. Malware on the 'net.
Ah well, since that doesn't work cause WinMo is fussy, I run Trend Micro as well - Windows Mobile.
hello,
I attempted to use the GPRS cab fix (which turns out to be german settings) and consequently screwed my gprs/3g/hsdpa settings.
Im a vodafone UK customer, wondering if any other Voda UK customers could share all their settings (MMS, gprs/3g/hsdpa) so any other fools like me could attempt to reset the settings!

Have a look at the settings I posted earlier if that will help, if not log onto the Vodafone forum and ask there as they seem to be quite helpful...

You would think they would be easy 2 find on Vodafone.co.uk... but check kirkie's post (#3).
My suggestion is delete all settings you can find in "Connections", and start again with My ISP, using the settings (e.g. connection name, Proxy IP address etc).
Keep in mind though, that there is a low chance that hidden settings were changed (which are only accesible through the Reg). In short trying to find what it changed might be a mission and a hard reset might be your easiest option (the fix cab may have altered settings in ur Reg like hidden proxy switch etc etc). The time spent re-installing is peanuts compared to trying to work out what it changed
I know I know - but it happened to me as I tried the same with AT&T fix cabs and sat screwed for a week or so.
yeah i followed what kirkie listed, although it still seems to attempt to dial a VFDE connection (german), and the connections list i can access doesnt seem to be the full list (theres still some german connections somewhere else i cant access)
might just have todo a reset. pain in the arse tbh, got it all setup how i like lol.
anyone know how to go about a hard reset?
else anyone figured out how to edit the registry connection entries?
i rang vodafone requesting the settings to be sent to me, although when trying to install them i just get an error.
well, no thanks to activesync, but lots of thanks to dashwire ...
hard reset and restore using dashwire made my life nice and easy.. only took 5 mins to reinstall all the little apps/panel's i'd aquired.
thanks for the help anyway guys
