Just wondering, since mine has never worked out the box.
Does the nexus vibrate slightly for these things whether you set vibrate or not? :
Long press to move things around the screens
When a call connects
When you start up the phone after turning off completely
Just going off my Hero, these things all have a "buzz" and to be honest I don't know if the Nexus does that. My Vibrate is still obviously broken, because it doesn't vibrate on anything whether I have it set to vibrate or not. I just wondered about the above vibrate stuff that isn't set by the user.
Dayzee
I think all new HTC phones vibrate when you turn them on, Mine does as well.
Also it vibrate when i hold an icon to move it. If your doesn't work? what you waiting for mate give a phone call to HTC for replacement.
Thanks Hassan - HTC are collecting it today - rang them on Friday. I just realised I wasn't sure if it did that the same as my hero - Ta for the info
Dayz xx
Its part of their Haptic User Feedback system
yes, mine does vibrate on boot.

Are you getting a repair or replacement?
I noticed you've rooted that's all and I thought the warranty was void?
Mine just does it on boot...I have Haptic turned off.
I have sent it with an unlocked bootloader, as there's nothing I can do about that, but it's not rooted anymore and is totally stock apart from that. I did mention it was unlocked bootloader, but the support guy seemed not really clear on that - he DID say that as long as it doesn't have third party software on it won't be an issue. But that's just a support guy. So I'm waiting to see. The issue is obviously hardware, was present out the box and not related to software. I'm hoping they still sort me out as the device was only days old.

Hi! I just got my bell ppc-6800 and everything is great, except the led on the top left corner is always on. Sometimes it is a dim green, other times brightblue, but mostly it does both at the same time but just blinks rapidly (like a dying fluorescent lightblub).
Before I take it back to the manufacturer, just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem and hope that there is an easy fix for this. Other then that the phone works great, but just want to make sure it will work ok
[edit]Turns out the phone was just defective. Got it replaced right over the counter for free. Thanks for the help though![/edit]
It is probably physically broken. You should replace the phone or have it repaired.
Personally, the LEDs on my phone constantly blink like mad and at one point I turned them off by disabling the AllLEDMgr driver only to find out that this driver also controls vibration.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr]
"Index"=dword:00000001
do you have the 6800 hacks download on there from www.trianglepowers.com
I had it on my 6700 and it was the first thing I loaded on my 6800. It allows you to turn off all the flashing lights ~ my bedroom no longer looks like the airport at night!
but I agree ~ sounds like you may have a lemon, and there may be more problems in the near future ~ I'd get it swapped out if at all possible!
I have heard of others having this problem and they need to exchange their phones.

[SOLVED]
Ok, so I took it back to the store. After an hour and a half between people in the store, people that owned the phone that were in the store, and people over the phone while I was in the store... I got my phone replaced!
But this does seem to be a problem affecting some units. I didn't get any details as to which model numbers this affects, but if you are a Bell user with strange LED issues, take it back and you will probably get it exchanged right over the counter for free.
P.S.: I tried the programs mentioned, and they still did not work. Actually, the LED was still mis-behaving even if the battery was removed and then put back in, BEFORE the phone had even gone through the HTC boot sequence (not even turned on yet).
I got my blackstone yesterday. Excitedly opened it up, fiddled with it a while, and flashed a new rom. It was a while before i realised that the phone woudlnt vibrate. Im pretty sure its a hardware fault, but just wanted to check here to make sure I havent missed something.
The phone wont vibrate, even when being called / txted with vibrate mode on. I also understand the hardware buttons are sposed to have some kind of haptic feedback or minivibrate, but this doesent work either.
I searched through all the settings, and couldnt find any magical turn on vibrate feature buttton. Vibrate notification is definately turned on, and so is the vibrate profile. I inittialy installed Panoshas Black Pearl rom. I tried a hard reset, and then also flashed the Dutty rom, and finally the original rom to see if it that worked.
Can anyone point out an obvious mistake ive made? Or am I gonna have to send my lovely blackstone back?
Thnx in advance.
Hmmm...you've already tried flashing a new rom and if you still have the same problem, send it in. It's still spanking new, shouldn't be a problem getting it rectified....or better yet ....replaced!
Was it vibrating when you recieve it, on it's original ROM ?

thnx for your response, i think ill probably do that.
its pretty annoying to have to send it back already lol, but its worth it to have a working vibrate.
A Second Opinion
Yep, I got my Blackstone a week ago today and it vibrated just fine out the box. I have not flashed any new ROMs, but I have installed plenty of programs including .net 3.5 and mobilmagic button stuff and hd tweak, installed and uninstalled advanced config and a few keyboards, the list goes on. Long story short, my vibrate doesn't work either! I think this is due to my tampering with it though, I really do. Also, I saw another post where someone had the same problem, he ended up getting his to work after playing with .net 3.5, hard resetting more than once and soft resetting too. So try that, let me know what you find out! I plan to hard reset and flash new ROMs soon, so I figured maybe these problems would go away then. Oh and, anybody else have a problem where their end key doesn't end the call, ? This is such a tinkerer's toy, lol!
Probably a good warning about flashing ROMs! Did you backup your original ROM? I think you will need to restore your original ROM before you send it back for "repair". (Otherwise it is likely you will be charged for any work/replacement - justifiably!)
Before you despair, what ROM did you flash it with? Have you contacted the developer about it? It may be a setting in a tweak you don't know you've installed. Have you tried playing Tweeter (the vibration feedback when the ball collides with a wall will indicate a working/non-working vibrator).
Rather than just offer bad news to you and tell you it's your own fault, here is a helpful tut on How to backup ROM, albeit a little late maybe. It may not be all doom and gloom - some kind soul may be able to offer you their backup ROM (particular to your mobile provider) which you can use to restore it to factory default before testing for the vibrate and/or sending it back for a fix. Who is your provider and what original ROM do you need?

thanks for the tip. i fiddled with .net framework 3.5 and more hard resets, and altho i have installed hdtweak and advconfig a couple times, ive done multiple clean flashes without them and it still dont work. in fact - as i said above, im 90% sure it never did work, so im convinced its a hardware fault.
i hope yours wroks after a rom flash, but i think mine is gonna have to go back...

yeah - i definately played tweeter even before flashing any roms, and there was no vibrate - so i guess that proves it really is the hardware.
i bought my phone from mobilephonesdirect, but have my rom backed up, so should be ok.
ta for the offer tho.
Mine was the opposite, it wouldn't stop vibrating, even when switched off.
You had to take the battery out to get it to stop.

I appreciate that
yes I would love for you to keep me updated, I purchased mine through ebay from addictedtophones.com, which is out of California. They seemed like nice people but they sure aren't wanting to help my broken vibrate after only 8 days! That is just sad my friend. I have also contacted UK and US support and HTC global repair service. They have indicated that they are looking in to it. Apparently the US section may not have the resources to work on the device. I requested that they replace the phone, if they couldn't work on it ASAP, the person seemed to agree and put the request forward. I hope that helps your situation. I spent too much for a broken stone!

I received my new replacement Touch HD in the mail a little bit ago, it vibrates. It must have been a hardware issue best I can tell. I just about had to send it off to HTC, but I finally got the retailer to replace it. It actually took a lot of crap just to get HTC USA GLOBAL repair center to want to accept the idea but, I called UK HTC and they called HQ in Taiwan or somewhere and got something done. So if you need some help, Ive got a few contacts that can help, anyone can just let me know. I hope this doesn't become a widespread infection.

I'd say it's probably a hardware issue. My first HD also didn't vibrate, and had to exchange for a new one. Probably some issues with one of the batches.

Had the same problem...now we're at least two with this prob. Still waiting for the replacement...
so i've searched and i can't really find anything on this. say my device is locked (need the number pad to unlock) and i receive an incoming call. i answer the call...but when the call is complete...i can't click end call or anything else on the screen unless i type in the code and unlock it. is there anyway to auto-unlock the device when a call comes in so that when i'm done with it, i don't have to enter my password to click end call or use the screen? i don't need an iphone like unlocker or anything like that, i just want the phone to unlock when a call comes in. is there a registry setting i can change or something? TIA.

buy an iphone....the touch hd could have blown the iphone out of the water if ALL the specs & progs had been implemented on release.....
Trouble is HTC are now playing catch up and are releasing kit onto the mass market who in turn are really 'beta' testing hardware & software for HTC.
I used their contact helpline to notify them of a bug/glitch which many other users have as well & I asked for a resolution, bugFIX or update to sort the problem out - I actually got the official reply which basicially said thanks and my raised call was now now closed as I hadn't answered/replied within 15 days.....!!!! I replied the same day fgs !!!
I presume they have massive problems that can't be fixed and do not have any support in place whatsoever, so user & buyer beware - they are buying an unsupported bit of kit - I am now stuck in an 18 month contract with hardware (& software) that is buggy, unsupported, doesn't work properly, and has NO way of being sorted or fixed.........
I've been with wm smartphones from the beginning & HTC when they got 'big'
- now I've got a problem getting out of the contract even though the htc hd IS FAULTY & BUGGY - what a rip off......

I've realised I've got no Vibrate on the nexus now. It doesn't buzz at start (can't recall if it ever did ) and stuff like haptic feedback does nothing
I want to know if flashing back to a stock ROM will reset it, or if its a hardware thing that can'r be solved with a flashing or something I can do myself.
I have MCR 1.3 and a theme on, and its unlocked and rooted.
Any ideas? its livable with, but I'm narked as its only three days old.

Just bumping this - any ideas? Thankyou all
Disclaimer: I have the Sprint Hero.
I had this problem on my Hero. After some research, I found that others were having problems with their vibrate functions not working, and that a factory reset fixed their issues. This didn't work with my handset, and I had to exchange it. The vibrate stopped working after a week or so of using the phone.
YMMV, but good luck.
I'm sure its hardware really, just hoped something else as I've unlocked and rooted Gonna try to exchange as its nothing to do with rooting obviously. If there are any kind souls on here who are HTC support connected and can help I'd appreciate it greatly xxx

Try preforming a nandroid backup, then wiping and see if it's fixed then restore the nandroid back up if you want.

I called HTC and spoke to a support guy who rightly said that since the Vibrate or Haptic feature has not worked since I recieved the fone on Monday (which it hasn't, I just didn't register it straight away as I don't usuall have it turned on on my Hero) then it will be replaced like for like with a new one. I've been given a ticket number for a full return, UPS are picking up my handset on Monday morning and HTC have sent a printable returns label for it.
At no time during the call and all the questions he asked, was I spoken to about warranty or Bootloader Unlock, so at the end of the call, so before I rang off I asked him - will it make a difference if my bootloader has been unlocked? He said he wasn't sure what I meant so I explained I had unlocked the bootloader. He then said it wouldn't matter as its a hardware fault, as long as there is no 3rd party software on the fone.
I'll have to wait and see what happens but he obviously hadn't been briefed to check for voided warranty by unlocking the bootloader. My fone has now been returned to stock everything (ROM Recovery etc) using this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614850
and I'm using my hero in the meantime.

could you update us on this?
i feel like my vibrate is going out and thinking of doing an exchange as well
I open a new thread because those already opened are quite dead... the subject is the proximity sensor on the HTC HD2... as i described in oter places this is the behaviour:
Upon receiving calls ALL works as it should
Sometimes when making a call:
1. dial a number
2. press talk
3. take the phone to my ear
4. the screen turns off
5. it starts ringing
6. THE SCREEN GOES ON
7. take the phone from my ear and put it back
8. the screen goes off
9. it answers on the other side
10. THE SCREEN GOES ON
11. take the phone from my ear and put it back
12. the screen goes off and all works well from now on on this call
I have at least a number that EVERYTIME when called does not acts like this... the proximity sensor does its job very well
I have at least one numbet that almost always did the steps described from 1to 12... only 4-5 times it didn't
If i get a busy tone the screen turns on... it will turn of if i do step 7
I've put back original rom and i have the same behaviour. I tried with clean roms and noting installed... still the same...
One time on a clean rom... I called a number that always did that and the first two calls were ok, after that it started again...
Now I'm using Hyper ROM 8.0 and I see that after step 6 if i keep the phone to my ear th screen will turn itself off after a sec or so... i cannot say right now if always...
Considering that this does not happens to many of us and it is not something permanent I think it can have something to do with the network... I don't know exactly what but this is my guess; like in the moments the screen turns on maybe the networks sends out a "signal" like the call would be over... I know it sounds weird but I don't know what else to think...
I even attached a poll to see who gets this behaviour...
So, to all the CHEFS out there... please help.... because HTC is not willing to... they're answer was not helping at all...
This is weird... I use netDrg's 2.5g ROM and I have no issue with the proximity sensor. Sometimes, when receiving a call, if I rotate the phone from portrait to landscape and then immediately take it to my ear, the screen doesn't turn off, but as soon as the display is back to portrait mode, it turns off. This isn't annoying at all, since I rarely pick up the phone and hold it in landscape to talk !
Maybe you should try a different ROM ? If you understand French well, netDrg's ROM is quite good, although it seems to me that the battery drains faster than with the stock ROM...
french is fine.. actually i would learn any language just to have this fixed... i know about landscape and sensor not working... but it is not the case here
it happens so aleatory... i would think it is a hardware issue... BUT i have one number and with it, this NEVER happened
i had almost all the cleanex suite... touch-x, energy and others... i really can't remeber if this happend since the first day i bought it... i've put back the stock rom downloaded from htc and still the same...
ok... i've made like 15-20 calls to the same number and all worked as it should... than all of a sudden it started to do what i've described in first post... just like this... i'm starting to hate this phone...
it looks like i'm not the only one with this issue... how you guys got it solved?..
just a thought... what triggers the screen on on this phone... i know that some apps open the screen... maybe there is a registry tweak to keep the screen off if proximity detected... this should be done automaticly i know... the fact is that the proximity sensor works...
uhm, just to point it out, you should edit your post instead of posting 4 messages in a row in the same thread
Anyway, this is the exact same problem I noticed reported in another thread, and I didn't have it, I mostly receive and rarely call, yet the few times I called I don't seem to remember such problems, will try and remember to test with my other mobile when I get back home.
today i went back to default rom that came with my phone...
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_1.48.479.1_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship
and still it does the same
i HSPL again and than put
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship
the same thing
if I call my home landline it works perfectly... if i call one of the numbers i was telling you about it acts like described in post #1
one other thing i discovered though... with the original roms there is a courtain over the buttons on the phone canvas... this not only blocks aditional buttons on the screen but also blocks the top taskbar... wich is a goos thing
anyway for a 4-500 euros phone this thing i'm having shouldn't happen...
still searching... i've seens something with Rilphone.dll... can this make a difference?
LE: Rilphone.dll broke thephone module... hard reset...
Same here ccezar
I only realised in the last couple of weeks that I've hung up on people a few times & sometimes I've tried making the same call on the spot like 5 times in a row & the line has been cut off before it evens rings, which brings me to say that different behaviours on different calling numbers is just a coincidence.
Sort of experimenting at the moment, I think that when I dial, & put the phone to my ear slowly it works. i can see the screen turn off, & the call goes smoothly. Although after I've hung up sometimes the comm manager or arkswitch is on my screen, which only mean that the taskbar is still active...
I almost thought that the screen may have been switching off but the touch function was still there at least for a few more seconds...
There are hundreds(thousands maybe) of us HD2 owners out there, so my feeling is that if there ain't many complaints, it may aswell be a faulty device.
Then again I wonder if that phone canvs slider would make a diference? Anyone know if there's cab for this?
What radio you using
The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that the 2.10.... radios is the culprit for me.
I just flashed my old 2.07.50.27_2 radio, will test for a day or so and see what happens.
If your on a 2.10.50.. radio urself or anyone with the same prob and radio, can I suggest you downgrade to a 2.07 or 2.08/ or 2.09 for euros?
i thought also that it is radio raleted... i tried other radios and still the same...
anyway i don't think it is hardware related... because i have at least one number that never ever got this behaviour... and neither when calling landlines... it is only on some numbers on mobile networks... and i have numbers that get this behaviour only from time to time...
so... how does the proximity sensor works?... when in a call (there is a reg key that appears upon making a call and says activecallcount=1) the proximity sensor activates... if something in the way it turns the screen off... if the call ends the proximity sensor is deactivated... this is where i dont have exact facts... like if i keep the phone to my ear if it will remain with the screen off or once the call ended the screen goes on... i'd go for the second one...
so... my belief is that is has to do with network parameters... you make the call and on steps 5 and 9 from first post i think the phone belives that the call is over... and i guess the network sends a signal that triggers that... i know it sounds like a fairytale...
now i will try to find a sim card from another mobile operator and see if it does the same... i already tried with another seem from my operator and there is no change... maybe if i try a different sim type (there are simple and 3G sims - i have a simple one)
i'll keep digging... anyway... at least one mobile number and all landlines numbers this NEVER HAPPENED...
well that just makes sense ccezar. I'll do the same over the weekend & see what happens.
with another providers sim card that is.
Hey when say you tried with nothing installed, was cookie's hometab on the rom? just a thought
i don't think so... because i also tried with a stock original rom...

I couldn't tell ya, I can suggest that if you're on a contract your paying for the phone anyway, so you should be able to ring the phone op & ask them for the codes. Where I am, the only time I couldn't have it unlocked is if it was pre paid & less than 12 months old.
after long debates that's the conclusion of HTC
The only option that is left now is to send the device to the Repair Centre so the engineers could examine it. Your device is still under the warranty. But after the diagnosis the engineers will determine whether the fault of the unit is due to misusage, accidental damage or a manufactured fault. Before proceeding with the repair you’ll be notified with the cost of the repair, if it is an out of warranty case. Kindly note that your phone has a global warranty, which means if you have any issues with the phone and would like to get it examined (repaired) it will be through one of our global repair centers Please follow the link below for information about those repair centers. http://www.htc.com/uk/CA_Hotline.aspx?region=GWS Bear in mind as well that if you have European warranty, you’ll be able to repair your phone in any official repair centre in the European Union.
