Changing ModelID

I need to change the ModelID reported when using ActiveSync. I have an application that I know will work on my 8525, but won't install because it doesn't recognize "HERM100". I'd like to have the ModelID reported as the Wizard (I think it's WIZA100).
Thanks!
Bumping this message...
You can change easy.
In your ppc go to:
Start-settings-info-user ID
Change the name of your device.
But notice:
I realiced that if I sync with 2 PC (with Activsync 4.1) after a hardreset, install back a backup, force AS to use the device name that I want:
my acticsync got messed up. (double contacts, appointments)
So if you sync with 2 pc I recommend to let AS choose the ID name of your device after you make a hardreset.

SSL Certificate in Dutty-Rom

Hi,
With the normal HTC HD rom, I installed a SSL certificate (*.crt file), by using the file-explorer, and clicking on the file.
Now I installed Dutty's latest rom, and I tried to install the certificate by clicking on it, and it tells me no program is associated with *.crt files.
Is there some other way I can add the certificate to the certificate storage? I use an exchange server that have a self-signed certificate. I had it working before I flashed the rom, so I know its possible, question is how
I hope one of you smart guys know how to do it
Thanks
- Ceder
I needed to install wildcard certificate that my company uses for Exchange. After 2-3 hours of fight (using .crs files doesnt worked well) I found a way:
1. Get "Microsoft SSL ChainSaver" and use it to obtain certificate you need
you will get 2 XML files - for HD use that one for WM6 and rename it to _setup.xml
2. Use "makecab" (got it by default in Vista Business - dont know other OS'es) to make CAB file from _setup.xml.
3. Install CAB file on your device
Rgds,
W.
Thanks! Worked perfectly!

Are you running Windows 7, have you installed the SDK, have you installed Zune and have you followed this guide to the letter?

Do all of that and you should have a working phone that is unlocked.
1. Install WP7 sdk Windows Phone Developer Tools; done
2. Install zune;done
3. Make partneship with zune and phone;done
4. Attach the ChevronWP7.cer(you found in the toolkit) to your email and send the email to your email itself (On PC);done
5. Login to your email account (On Phone), Open the email, Select attachment and install the cert;done
6. Connect your phone to pc and make sure zune is running in background;done
7. Run the unlocker (ChevronWP7.exe) and click unlock button(Make sure your phone date is set correctly)done
(you need to close skype and disable network adapter.. hamachi.. wireless.. Dropbox.. etc)done
still locked
Are you doing a full hard reset and then reinstalling the certificate? It should work after the PortalUrlProd and PortalUrlInt values get returned to the default.
yes I have done by pushing + and - volume button
solution
the default year in WP7 is 2010 it took me a while to realize i was forcing the phone due to the date.
small thing easy to overlook hope it helps
edit: with the correct date phone should unlock

On #5 did you use touchXplorer to copy that file to Windows directory?
Remember Zune will lock you HD2 everytime you connect your usb. use the crack in this forum to prevent that.
are you using windows XP?
Also try putting chevronwp7.exe in the root of your c: drive and run as administrator. I've seen people say that it isn't necessary, but I had to.
Also if you're using vista or windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled.
besides turning off the firewall, i turned off the windows defender service.
It might do the trick.
Solved
Thanks to everybody
My problem is solved.
Like audit angel was saying the default year is 2010, and the solution was there for me.
When I changed the year to 2011 Chevronwp7 did his job.
What an idiot I was!!!

Ok I think you missed some steps, so lets start from the top. First of all you cant "RUN" or "Execute" a .xap file. Its meant to be installed or "deployed" to your phone, not PC, through the Application Deployment software provided in the Windows Phone 7 SDK(Step 1). Only after installation of Windows Phone 7 developer tools can you go through steps 2-6, and then on step 7 go to your PC's Start>All Programs>Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools>Application Deployment. Choose the Brows button and the two .xap files(1 at a time) and deploy them to your device. After you complete that you can proceed to steps 8-10.
If you find this to be confusing you may consider a Cooked Rom as many of these features are already provided. Good Luck.
1. Install WP7 sdk (Not confrimed, Skip and see if it works);
2. Install zune;
3. Make partneship with zune and phone;
4. Attach the cert to your email and send the email to your email itself (On PC);
5. Login to your email account (On Phone), Open the email, Select attachment and install the cert;
6. Connect your phone to pc and make sure zune is running in background;
7. Run the unlocker (ChevronWP7.exe) and click unlock button(Make sure your phone date is set correctly);
6. Install toms .xap installer;
7. Deploy Connection Setup.xap, Touch Xplorer.xap and XBMODDeployer.xap (Install it on the phone);
8. Copy the .provxml from the ringtons folder to the windows folder (on the phone using touch explorer app);
9. Run connection setup to install the .provxal;
10. Setup up your live ID and enter the activation code (on the phone).

[Q] Transfer data from Nokia C6-00 to HTC HD2 TyphooN CM7 v2.4

Hello,
What program I can use to transfer, contacts, SMS, notes and scheduler from Nokia C6 to HTC HD running Android TyphooN CM7 v2.4?
As it seems the Nokia C6-00 does not have the usual Mail for Exchange interface.
Is there a way without using outlook or gmail, which can transfer only contacts as I know?
What is the easiest and fastest way?
Thank you in advance.
Finally i have use this way for e-mails:
For contacts go to settings>>Connectivity>>data transfer>>Sync
Under Options either set up a new sync profile or edit the exsisting one.
Select only contacts (calendar just won't sync with Google.)
Sync Profile Name: anything you want
Server Version: 1.2
Server ID: Google (capital G)
Data bearer: Internet
Network Connection: your connection depending on wifi or carrier
Host address: https:/m.google.com/syncml
Port:80
User Name: [email protected]
Password: (yours)
Allow sync requests: Whatever you want (I put Ask first, for wifi only)
Network Username: None
Network Password: (leave it)
Under Contacts
Contacts database: contacts (must be lowercase)
and this to move all SMS :

Nokia Ovi to Android SMS convert utility
Description
Nokia2AndroidSMS is a small application that allows you to convert SMS messages from Nokia Ovi datafiles into an xml file supported by SMS Backup & Restore Android application.
Process for transferring SMS messages to your new Android Phone is the following.
Nokia phone side:
Install Nokia OVI, (You don’t need the OVI account!)
synchronize messages from your phone with OVI
Disconnect your Nokia Phone and close the Nokia OVI application. WATCH OUT. Noia OVI likes to minimize to system tray please be sure you really closed the application
Conversion:
Download Nokia2AndroidSMS and extract it to any directory.
Run Nokia2AndroidSMS.exe
The application should automatically find all datastores created by Nokia OVI and automatically select the 1st one.
If it should fail to detect datastores you’ll have to find it by yourself, you can either drag and drop datastore file from Windows Explorer onto the Nokia2AndroidSMS window or use the Open button to find it.
You can change the datastore in the 1st selection list if there is more than one
If you have more than one phone in the datastore than you can select for which you’d like to export the messages, they are listed by their IMEI number.
Press Convert button and you should get an xml file in the same folder you extracted Nokia2AndroidSMS to
WATCH OUT: If you get: “Failed to load DLL library. System error number was 126.“ Antivirus probably prevented proper extraction of archive, so you need to extract it again and/or disable antivirus when extracting. The most problematic AV software found was Bitdefender.
Android:
Install SMS Backup & Restore
Connect the phone onto the PC (You MUST select Disk drive as connection type)
Copy the xml file into the SMSBackupRestore Folder on the phone, create it if it’s not already there
Run SMS Backup & Restore and import messages.
P.S.
Using the first method you can transfer and SMS to Google messages folder.
have u try myphoneexplorer?
