Hi,
I have a little issue: I HSPL my HD2 no problem with . It's just my phone have a hardware problem & I wanna go back to Original SPL 1.42000. I found the original rom made for my branded handy
extract and rename the .nbh
format sdcard in proper format.
neither in sync nor in bootloader mode. Invalid vendor ID. Rom Upgrade issue for me.
How can I uninstall the HSPL ?
PS/ I tried all words given by bepe and other's concerning issues. I didn't found it. I must sent back my phone soon for warrantly reason...
Did you try to install the ROM from HTC website or did you find an Orange specific ROM?
It is an orange specific rom. cause it is a branded handy.
I even try from HTC website one but no satisfaction. I think it is normal by this one ?
I have a non branded "german" device.
I decided to go back from the HSPL to the stock SPL.
I wanted to flash with the Turkey 1.61 rom to have after this procedure the newest radio 2.07 on it.
I have followed the steps from bepe
But my SD card has a "goldcard" file on it.
Go to the HSPL thread and see my post #383
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
I have noted down all outputs during flashing.
At least I would give it a try and use a "Goldcard" to get back your original rom.
Hope it helps & Good luck!

In addition to what the previous poster described:
One can definitely flash the original ROM using the SD card to uninstall HSPL.
Many people do it by accident...
That being said, one question: Are you sure you have the correct ROM file?
You know, the error you mention only arises if you have to answer "no" to that question.

SD card should be formated FAT32. The original one is FAT16
What does it exactly mean: "One can definitely flash the original ROM using the SD card to uninstall HSPL"
We can uninstall HSPL by loading the .nbh from the official ROM from htc website from fat32 formated sd card ?
If the answer is yes, I have done it many times but no satisfaction.
Yes I use the proper and official htc and/or orange .nbh.
How to get out please.

If you do all steps in the correct way, flashing the original nbh with the SD card will definitely overwrite HSPL with stock SPL.
It has happened to quite a lot of people who were not aware of the fact that this happens when flashing a stock ROM with this method.
When you get a wrong carrier ID error message, you don´t have the right ROM, as the device will only allow to flash ROMs with the correct CID, be it HTC or operator stock ROMs.
Did you check the SPL version after the process with the SD card? If it says 1.42.0000, why don´t you try flashing with the original RUU?
yes confirm

I confirm: it happends to me: when I flashed the 1.61 HTC official rom from my SD, it replace the HSPL by the original SPL of HTC.
hi all, just want to share..
stock spl is 1.42 and after hspl 1.42hspl or 1.42.6666 if i'm not mistaken.
if to unsintall this hspl, i use flash using sd card method and it will re write radio and spl back to 1.42.
i also using turkey stock rom, but we cannot flash turkey stock rom using sd card method as it will rewrite spl and will give you error. wrong region. if this happen, in 3 colour mode, run you hspl. when it restart, make sure you push volume down button to get back in tricolour mode. if you not pushing vol down button, it will also boot in tricolour but hspl wont work, happen to me, spl back to 1.42.000. the flash using custom ruu.
just sharing with you guys.

It should be LEOIMG.nbh.
dont forget you might want to use MTTY to do task29 to format the device instead of CustomRUU.exe
tbh you can probably use the RUU from HTC if you have HSPL anyway.
p.s. yeah LEOIMG.nbh - LEOING.nbg made me smile - finger-twister
Okay I have tested restoring SPL1.42.0000 on a vendor-id'd phone.
Tried 2 ways of formatting the SD card:
a. formatting the sd card to FAT32 via Diskdrive mode connected to pc
b. Formatted in HD2 using onboard utility in HD2.
Tried 2 images but not the vendor-id image since I do not have that image.
a. Vendor ROM but in different language
b. Stock ROM HTC
Tried 2 ways of changing SPL back to 1.42.0000
a. Reset + vol down shows a 1 second message "Checking.", after that it immediately goes to the blue-green-red bootscreen showing bootloader 1.42.HSPL
b. From bootloader connect USB to pc and flash using stock RUU.
All combinations of above I can not restore SPL. Must be because HD2 requires correct ROM image + correct vendor-id.
Is there possibly a way to remove HSPL in some way without the original vendor image? Goldcard?
Check out my video on reverting back to stock spl

Not sure if its the same for locked devices though, just have a look

very good manual that is. In video manual is exactly the procedure I did. However the vendor-id'd HD2 won't get to the point where the image can be flashed. It gets to the point up to 1:37-1:38 in your video where the word "Checking..." blinks in an instant. After that it returns to bootloader screen.
So no luck yet

Oh sorry man
Goldcard also tried and no luck.
Every time I reboot to bootloader it gives the colored screen, proceeds to white screen with blue letters, in an instant shows: "Loading..." ..followed by: "Checking..." ..and then returns to colored bootloader main screen.
edit:
I keep thinking whether it is normal or not that the white screen doesn't show any kind of confirmation that it did actually find any nbh file whether it is valid or not. Maybe it just exits when the nbh is not valid, that may be the case.
However I have now ran the routine a whole lot of times and make zero progress.
Maybe better continue the search for the correct ROM to flash with.
just try one of the official roms posted in the official roms thread. don't try 1.61 - only 1.43/48
I have tried all official roms posted including 1.43 and 1.48 and up without success. The bootloader wouldn't go further after having checked the SD card contents. It did not work at all.
Finally now I bricked (I hope temporarily) my HD2 by trying to install the latest official 2.02 from the RUU.
Strange things have happened here.
I had earlier copied an 148 or so nbh to sd card. Bootloader would't work out as explained in posts above. So after all (with card with 148 nbh still inside) I figured it was time to check what ROM 2.02 would do, since I believe it would overwrite all SPL including HSPL since it is a v2 SPL. At least I hoped.
When I opened the RUU, it did reboot the phone as it is supposed to do with RUU.
Few things happened:
a. The phone booted in bootloader and showed me the white step screen which indicated there was a nbh about to be flashed. This was the nbh on the card!
b. The RUU errored with error 260 that the connection was lost. I have never lost a connection, must be because file on sd card took control.
c. Since connection was lost and the phone wanted a flash from the sd card I pressed vol up to continue update. it did start updating... but at about 9% I got a big triangle /exclamation mark, and HD2 stopped updating.
Reboot. Guess what??? SPL 1.42.0000 in bootloader now. From the nbh on the card.
But NO boot, NO radio .... After all I managed to destroy phone and HSPL.
Had to goldcard my way back in. However, problem solved!
Hello,
I want to flash my device with 1.66.707.1 rom. I can't download it via HTC official page.
Now I have few questions. According to that I couldn't download it from HTC official page in my country because I've got inappropriate S/N. May I install it on my radio if I supply good (fake) S/N to official HTC page?
I even didn't tray to do this because I'm afraid I can turn my HD2 a into brick.
I don't care about language. I think that after flashing ROM I can download a proper language pack.
Greats.
invalid serial means your phone is vendor locked. (eg t mobile, vodafone or whatever)
even if you download using a different serial the upgrade will fail saying "vendor id mismatch" or something similar.
in theory you need to wait for your vendor to release the update, however in reality installing hspl will allow you to instal the update without getting the error.
go read the hspl threads.
Easy to sey .
It's my first Windows Mobile based phone. I've never installed rom, and yet a cooked one.
I've have some bugs about which I've read on this forum. Those are:
* lack of virtual keyboard while creating a new text message (or any app which need it)
* error while starting digital camera.
All of that disappear after soft reset. That's why I want to install the newest rom.
To not start a new thread is there any way to find out if the rom which I downloaded from HTC suits to my phone? S/N is correct. If I start RUU it will start flashing my device, yes?
Another question. Is it true that every HTC Leo has 576MB RAM but it is locked down?
read this then, it has all the info you need on flashing your phone...

As EddyOS stated, go read my flashing guide THOROUGHLY!!
1. Install HardSPL on your device (best done using WindowsXP or Windows7 32bit).
2. Download the Rom you require from the download site provided and flash using the instructions provided in my guide.
3. Enjoy your new phone
Once you have HardSPL on your phone it will be protected from bad flashes and you will be able to flash stock or custom roms or radios as and when you require. HardSPL is definitely reccommended as it has probably saved hundreds of phone from being turned into paperweights when flashing a bad rom or flashing incorrectly.
If you want to try a custom rom then I would definitely recommend the one in my signature but its totally upto you what you decide to put on your device.
With regards to the 576MB Ram it does seem that its actually accessible but only using the newer 2.02 Roms with specific Radios. This has been tested and verified. It wont be accessible on a 1.66 stock rom though.

- What ROM were you trying to flash and what ROM version (and language) do you have on your device?
- Is your device Branded?
- Did you flash HSPL?
- Did you see a progress bar on screen when flashing, or just the colored bars?
- When you get to the tricolor-screen (bootloader) and you connect to your PC, does it say USB after a few seconds, or does it say Serial?
- What went wrong at 24%? Did you unplug the phone, did your system crash, or were you just being inpatient?
If you answer the above questions, someone may be able to help you. Also, start by reading the stickies.
Rom was 1.48.479.1 and I wanted to replace it with 1.48.479.1 because some bugs were annoying me which I mentioned earlier.
Yes my device is branded but it doesn't have simlock.
No I didn't used HSPL because I downloaded rom from HTC using my own original S/N.
When I was flashing I saw brogress bar with HTC logo.
I have those tri-colour screen when I power on the device, but before that I have warning triangle. No it doesn't say Serial nor USB.
What went wrong. I swear I don't know. No, no, no I wasn't impatient. After it hanged on 24% I got error message from the program on PC with UPGRADE ERROR. I've tried to resume like the program said me. But without any effect. What I did was unplug; put aut battery; wait 3 seconds; put battery in; power on and plug in. I'm sure that I was doing everything right because I was following the program.

If i have 1.48 and with my serial can`t download 1.66... it is recommended to install WWE 1.66 with serials posted here without HSPL? my device is also WWE and was only sim locked Vodafone. (non-branded)
If you have questions regarding rom or hardspl flashing please ask in the correct thread.
if,when you put your serial into htc website, it doesn't allow you to download, then you MUST use hspl to flash an unbranded rom.
@y0ystet. your phone is branded. sim lock its not connected to vendor lock.instal hspl and try again, same rom.
@lakhbeer, did you flash hspl first? more detail please, messed up? doesn't work?
@rayman your phone is vodafone locked.
I repeat, the htc website doesn't accept your serial, you are provider locked and that is not connected to sim lock/unlock.
I sent an e-mail to HTC about that. They said I can send the phone to them.
I found sth out. If I hold the volume down and connect the usb cable I have a message on my screen. On screen which have three colours on green I have: "Upgrade Rom code error. Please try again" And on the white I have: "Serial".
Is there anything I can do about that?
But don't say me to flash witch the HSPL. I won't do that on two reasons:
I've never do that
If I send it to service I'll void my warranty.
What would you suggest to do?
I've solved the problem .
you going to let people know for future use?
How to fix ROM error on VODAFONE UK solution
I also have a HTC HD2 bought from Vodafone.
I flashed my mobile and installed Pandora 1.4 ROM...it was always freezing my Leo every time I looked at docs tab, so I decided to install shipped Leo ROM 1.66 and that is when things went wrong, same problem as you have now, so I downloaded h**p://w w w .4shared.com/file/205652004/1bf6c7ce/RUU_Leo_Vodafone_UK_1434051_Ra.html
aka the original ROM from Vodafone UK and it is working now....but now I am no sure if I wanna try more roms because next time I can be stuck with error screen forever.....
I am still on rom 1.43 as 02 UK network say that they are still testing Rom 1.48. I have been on the htc website and they state that I can't update to 1.66 as the phone is branded to 02.
This is really stressing me out as 02 are useless and are not bothered, htc keep saying contact your provider
What are my options to make this a de branded phone.
I knew I should of bought a de branded phone
What version of spl do you have. If it is 1.42.0000 you can use hspl and flash to whichever rom you want. Just check that you can get a backup copy of your current rom as a backup in the event you ever need to return to stock for warranty purposes.
You'll find all of the necessary information here
I have an O2 phone just like yours and did exactly what ClydeB1 said. I first found the stock O2 ROM I was going to replace (links are in the stickies in this forum) and put the image on the SD card that O2 so kindly supplied, for us to revert back to their stock ROM. Then I followed all the information on this site to put HSPL on, and I've been flashing like a pervert ever since. Not to mention MTTY and HARD RESET!

mmm sounds good cos i was taking on twitter to o2 and they said all o2 hd2's will be released with the orignal rom, just on another subject am getting a hd2 from o2 nest week and have just seen on there site they have put the prices up!!!!
Prob got it from a 3rd party and they provided an 'unbranded' HD2 so it's on HTCs normal ROMs
02 are awful for customer support.
firmware
1.43 70315
correction - serial works on HTC website. i put in the IMEI number instead
:embarrassed:
Got my HD 2 from o2 online shop and it seems like they have given me an unbranded phone, updated to 1.66 no probs. Guess I'm lucky for once in my life! Maybe I should start playing the lottery?
Had my HD2 last week, cames with 1.43, cannot update via HTC, BUT nothign wrong with 1.43, so no rush for me, when (if ) O2 release an update, i will, but I'm not fussed tbh.
a few notes to using HSPL for users locked to o2 roms.
1 - go HERE, see the first post, first link, look for the 1.43 folder, in there is a ROM with o2 in the name. That is your get out of jail free card. Download the file
RUU_Le2_UK_1.43.206.4_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship.exe
This file is actually a zip file.
Right click the file, choose extract here (Or, change the filename to .zip instead of .exe) inside is a file called RUU_signed.nbh. That is the ROM. SHould you need to gat back to factory conditions, put that file on your sd card, rename it leoimg.nbh reboot the phone into bootloader, it will flash the rom, the radio, and most importanlty the SPL back to how they were when you got the phone.
Once you have that file, keep it safe. You can now go to the HSPL thread, download and instal HSPL (use a USB port in the back of your PC, for some reason HSPL doesn't play nice through USB ports in the PC case, or through hubs, or card readers, etc)
Now that HSPL is on your device, you can flash ANYTHING you like USING USB. Roms, radios, whatever.
The only time you should use SD card from now on is to flash teh stock 1.43 rom. Flashing ANY OTHER stock rom from sd card will cause you problems.
Hi guys,
I'm at the point of flashing a HTC HD2 NL Vodafone Branded and before I do I would like to have the confirmation i'm doing things the right way.
1) Dont put the SIMcard in it
2) Connect it with ActiveSync
3) Apply bepe's HardSPL on the device
4) Download this file: http://www.4shared.com/file/218620797/e3264e7d/RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1664041_Radio_.html
5) Install the exe file downloaded at point 4 (also thru activesync)
It will have a SPL in it so bepe's HardSPL will be overwritten.
Result: I will have a unbranded phone.
Is this the way I should do it?

hspl will not be removed. the stock rom will only flash the spl if you flash from sd card. the method you outlined will only flash the rom part.(however I recommend you follow the method you outlined and just leave hspl installed. flashing from sd card is easily messed up)
Thanks for the reply guys.
One other question: how did vodafone put a branded rom on the device and how did they secure it. If I understand correctly its not possible to install a htc rom update myself. It should be done by vodafone. but if so, will the hardspl work because I guess vodafone secured that part of the rom with something of themself.
ps. its not like I dont trust you guys, I just wanna know how it all works.
vodafone didn't do it, they pay htc to brand them(or rather it is part of the production and purchase agreement)
in the unlikely event that a vendor did it themselves, htc would issue them with something like a gold card.
rom updates should NOT be done by vodafone, you are incorrect.vodafone would release a rom update, which you would instal yourself.
the security aspect is dealt with by the phone having a region id and a vendor id(set in the factory). when you flash a new rom, it checks these id's and if they match it flashes. that is why you can't put a htc released rom on your vodafone phone, the vendor id doesn't match.
hspl works by changing the spl to be "super cid" meaning it will accept any region and/or vendor id.

All you need to do is flash a stock windows mobile rom to your device via your sd card. Also downgrading your HSPL is advisable.
Just stick the needed nbh file on your sd card renamed to leoimg.nbh, then enter bootloader by holding volume down button while powering on and follow steps.
Also using search function in future will help. Any person with some common sense would understand that this topic will have been created and discussed at lengthy before so no need to re-create when teh info already exists.
Go to HTC website and download the ROM for your HD2 (you need to use the phone's serial, thus making sure you have an approved ROM).
Now do a search on here for the SD Card ROM flashing method.
The only thing you need is a 2GB microSD Card (there is known problems with 8GB and greater SD cards).

Above 2 described solutions are INCORRECT - do not try this as you may brick your HD2...
Here is what you need to do:
1. Download HSPL3_PKG, ... google it!
2. Since it may come in rar arhcive extract and run as if you were going to flash the HSPL, hit next on first screen, now you get a drop down list, select 2.08.0000 not 2.08.HSPL. Once you have 2.08.0000 you are ready to install Stock ROM.
3. Run the program / install (by clicking next, next, next, etc)
4. Now just flash your Stock Tmobile WinMo ROM the normal way (via USB).
Stock T-Mobile ROM can be downloaded from their website by entering the IMEI on the website.

4. Now just flash your Stock Tmobile WinMo ROM the normal way (via USB).
Stock T-Mobile ROM can be downloaded from their website by entering the IMEI on the website.

Euhm I think you are wrong.
The sd-card methode with the proper rom is the only way to flash it so it places the correct bootlader, radio etc etc etc
For the guy('s) opening the posts with 'how can I flash back for warranty purposes' I wish there would be a new torture feature on your keyboard so it would at least give you a 110V or 230V shock for a couple of seconds.
Browsing the HD2 forum I found a minimum 3 threads which ask exactly the same on the first page.

"Incorrect" is quite a bit... well, incorrect in this case.
Only if you are 1000% sure that you are correct, you should choose such words. But in this case, it is definitely a *fail*.
The way you describe does work, too, but it can be confusing for some users. Especially those who ask questions like the OP here...

Huh... a bit harsh, no? But still a good thought, kind of. Maybe a non-physical pain related penalty would be an idea, too? Guess not, as even my grandmother used to say: "Those who don´t want to listen have to feel"...

those words are very appropriate
@ "eenbox" . sd card method is less complicated and more secure me friend... it will write spl, radio, os .... and you are done.
You dont need to search google when you can search in xda ... or just visit sticky threads.
So you are all saying that he can download T-Mobile branded ROM from htc website and flash that one on his T-Mobile US version HD2?
If that works for someone - good luck; I know for a fact it did not for few people when they bricked their phones...

I've done the sd card method on my phone twice, and other peoples phones at least 4 more. They all reset stock spl, radio, and stock rom for warranty purposes.
Flashing a wrong stock rom will brick you for sure though.
The sd card leoimg.nbh method is flawless. Especially when your touchscreen or USB port breaks, its the only way for warranty if you want it replaced.
