Do tweaks and software for power saving only help when you use the phone or in sleep mode too?
Because when the phone is in sleep mode...isn't everything except phone on idle?
Thanks
You'd need to ask the people that have provided you with the "power saving", as they know what it does. Ask on the threads where you downloaded the software.

can someone please show me how to shutdown my phone completely when I dun need it. to save battery. event when I turn off everything on COM Manager, (radio,wifi,BT...everything...).but my battery still droped. thanks. i wonder what eat my battery when everythis is off.
Your PDA is never realy off. As long as the battery is in there, and it has power... it will run. When you press the "Off" button, the device goes into some sort of stand-by mode.
I don't know the technical reason for this, but what's the use of a Personal Digital Assistant if it can't warn you of appointments and such It has to be able to wake itself (Same goes for the phone)
I'm sure at one point i had to hold it down for a few seconds before the phone switched on (while in an off state). What i find annoying now is that when i press the button to see whether it is off or on standby, it instantly switches itself on (it's a minor thing, but still annoying). Anyone know how i can change it back?
As far as i know, the button has always switched the device on instantly with just a simple press.
no found this change also, and was annoyed for the same reason
this is good feature for battery saving i use this method to switch off screen when i gotta leave the phone while reading web pages.

Haha same .
Why would you turn the phone off instead of turning the cellular off/use airplane mode?

conserve power overnight when not in use?
hm.. my x1 doesn't use any energy at all when it's in sleep mode overnight.

That's right.
Flight mode and standby is as good as switched off, but alarms still work what I consider very important.

surely it's consuming more battery while it's on (even on flight mode), than it's switched off? I have a separate alarm, so it's not an issue.
Eh?
How is any of this related to the OPs question?
The phone does switch on with a simple press, but there is a slight delay after you let go. Any misconceptions I think would be based on the fact that I am so used to using phones that have always required a press and hold to power on.
I make no mistake, the Xperia need only be touched once to power on.
Atleast as far as firmware R2A_10 goes.
perhaps use the keyboard slider to check if the phone is on.

Indeed, when i switched from my P990i to my X1i i used to press the power button the X1i for a while because i thought thats what SE phones need! It was only after a couple of weeks that i realised that actually it just turns on with an instant click....magic!
i am sorry if this have been asked

If you power it off, it is off.
The alarm will work in standby mode. If you just want the phone to be off, put it in Airplane mode (hold the red button down for a while).
thats really sad
was hoping i could conserve some battery
thanks a lot pple.

You can, just like the previous poster explained already. Just enable airplane mode and the power consumption will be very low.
I don't think there is a setting which is odd as all my previous phones had an autopower up setting for the alarm so it would work even if the phone was off.

If you put the phone to sleep (with airplane mode enabled), the power consumption is just about 1% overnight (from my experience). Alarm will still work with phone asleep.
any solution to this? happens to me pretty often when i let it sleep for a while. it helps if i don't leave wifi on, but sometimes even with it turned off i'll have to reboot. and the battery tends to drain a lot when it happens as well
The same here, but i solved (kinda) by setting the tablet to Airplane Mode before "suspend" ...
Seems to be something on the area of Hardware Related issues.
That's why maybe they set a reset button ... have never seen any of those on other tablets so ...
Mine is always in airplane mode.
Didn't even realise there was a reset button I just hold power for10 seconds then power on
Hello everyone! I was just wondering if one of the developers can look at here. It's about a frequency in the kernels that may improve our battery life. Untill now all the kernels are working really good, but i was wondering if one of the developers can make this frequency called "Deep Sleep" working when we don't use our phone much. If someone can make this freq working more than the others when we don't use the phone i think we are going to have a perfect battery life! Thanks!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253853
This is the thread of the x10 kernel. There you can see that the deep sleep is using more than the minimum frequency. I think that this frequency is using some low voltage or something like that!
Looks great this kernel to X10,the devs make lots of things on it,look how many CPU governors they have! And these deep sleep seen great too!
Hope our devs will take a look and see what features they can bring to our X8!
I hope that someone will see this because i think that those things can work on our device
We have Deep Sleep on X8. Install CPU Spy from Market and you will see. Here is screenshot from my phone:
+1 i hawe spy cpu and deep sleep is to.
bad in this kernel deep sleep hawe changed voltage on sleep freguenz and hi has many improwments
Yes that is what i am talking about ... we have deep sleep but the frequency is not changed (i think). That's why i posted this so the devs can take a look at it
Do you know what is Deep Sleep (sleep mode)? There is no frequency. It is like sleep mode on computer or laptop. I have found this about it in Google:
Q: My question is what exactly does "sleep mode" do on android systems?
A: Primarily, it shuts down the CPU. Along the way, non-essential radios (WiFi, GPS) will have been shut down as well.
Q: What does it stop, what doesn't it stop, etc.
A: About the only thing you can count on not stopping is the GSM or CDMA radio (for incoming calls, SMSes, and IP packets) and AlarmManager.
Q: By sleep mode I mean, of course, when you press the power button and the screen goes black.
A: Actually, that's not sleep mode, per se. That is the screen turning off.
The device will go into sleep mode shortly thereafter, if nothing is keeping it awake with a WakeLock. However, there is no guarantee that within a millisecond of you pressing that button and the screen turning off that the CPU is off.

If we don't have Deep Sleep battery will be drained very fast
