I was just reading over the Verizon paperwork that is sent out to the repair team/Wireless Devices Group Now I have been reading the very small print that details what to expect fixed. The problems that are to be fixed in the Jan. 22nd update are already working.
1. When yo go to write a sms in theory you should not get a characture counter until you finish the first segment (see second bullet on page 5) My phone displays the count when I start typing so was the problem fixed on the last update?
2. When you remove SD card you should have to power down your phone before it will recognize it if you don't properly unmount it. When I remove mine without unmounting it and reinsert it it is instantly recognized. (see fourth bullet page 6)
Here is a link to the official document that I was reading.
http://phandroid.com/2009/11/09/htc-droid-eris-ota-update-coming-too/
that is for the first OTA update in december of 09
If you read the fix dates below each problem the clearly state Jan. 22nd 2010.
Edit: I see what you are saying. But if you look below the problems I pointed out you can see a resovle date of Jan. 22nd 2010. Not all of the problems are resolved on the same day. Some say Dec 09 and some say Jan 10 the paperwork talks about to different releases. Does that make sense?
Not every fix listed in that document is fixed.
Specifically, this is one of the issues that lists a Jan 22nd release date:
Bluetooth Headsets: Customer may observe an intermittent notification that "Bluetooth headset disconnected" after the headset is paired, connected and then turned off.

I still get this many times a day after disconnecting my phone from my car's bluetooth, so this is not yet fixed.
It should say "Bluetooth headset disconnected" if you are disconnecting the connection from your car, shouldn't it?

How many times should you receive the notification?
Until you tell your phone to stop the pairing from you car. This says that if you pair, connect, then turn off the device that was paired you will get this. Not if you disconnect but if you turn off the paired device after pairing. You have to tell your phone to stop searching for the signal from you car in order to stop receiving that message.
It shows the message about 20 times over a period of 10-20 minutes, then stops. Certainly this is not intended behavior.
It should show the message once, and that's it. With most phones, you can leave bluetooth on constantly (not discoverable), and it should connect and disconnect from the car when it can.
This is how the Eris works, except for showing me the error message a lot.

The clock on my wizard keeps resetting to Feb 2006, but not when its low on power.
It just seems to do it randomly and I have no idea why.
Its more of a pain than you would imagine, as if it happens and I miss calls, the calls are added to a fairly random list of calls all showing as Feb 2006 and based on the time the call came after the clock reset, so if there are a few calls, and it has reset a few times, they are entirely all mixed up, and included with previous calls that fell into the same category.
Any ideas, please?!?!
I'm wondering if the battery is making a solid connection. Does it do this completely randomly, even when the phone is on? For example, can you be browsing the web on with the clock set to the correct date, and when you close IE it's February 2006?
If it only does this when the phone is off (soft-reset kind of off, I mean), then I'd look into how solid a connection the battery is making inside the case. Perhaps try wedging something (paper, something non-conductive ) inside the battery case to ensure a proper connection is being made.
If it's doing this randomly and even when the phone is on and active, however, I'm afraid I'm of little help.
go to HTC web site and download a patch that fixes that bub.
if you disconnect the battery from your wizard, he will start with is factory made date
Thanks guys.
It can happen even when the phone is charging - and also always happens if i swap sims.
It also does happen if the battery is removed - which I need to do to restart it sometimes if it crashes. My first phone in 1997 would restart at the right time if you swapped the battery, so to think I have firmware that needs patched to do this eleven years later is freaky.
Have you a link to the patch, and can it be downloaded directly to the phone?

Install this to your device. It might solve your problem.
I have had a problem where my bluetooth just turns itself off for no reason. Anyone else had this.
There were a few posts on this a couple of days ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440110&highlight=bluetooth
i have the same problem...it is anoying because i use a carkit and every 2nd or 3rd time i start the car, the carkit doesn't connect to my X1 because the bluetooth is off again!
Which panel are you using?
I seem to remember having this issue when I first got the X1 but have not had it for the last few days.
I notice it quickly as my car uses bluetooth and so every time I get in it I see it.
I used to used the middle left panel, now using the SPB panel. Maybe a coincidence of course.
I just rebooted my phone and bluetooth stayed on. I also switched wifi on then off and it is still on. I will monitor it to see if this is the case for the longer term.
Try leaving your wifi off and the BT should then become stable and stay on!
i'm using the today panel (on top left). i also turned on BT and Wifi then i did a soft-reset...but BT didn't worked...Wifi is ok.
anyway...BT should work on every panel as good as on the other...if it doesn't there's a bug.
hope that bug will be fixed after the next fw update, as they wrote on the other thread.

I have still got the problem. Will try not turning on wifi and I have reported it to Sony Ericsson. Hopefully plenty of other people will too to keep the pressure on.

I can attest to this as well. My Bluetooth has been turning off automatically after an unknown period of time. I was running WiFi at the same time, but then turned it off and noticed Bluetooth had stopped working 5 minutes later.
The next time I noticed this, I went into Comm Manager and Bluetooth was "ON", but after clicking the right softkey then "Bluetooth (settings)", WM told me that Bluetooth was off. I turned it back on manually and it was working fine. I really have no idea why, as it has been doing this since I got it (1 day ago, using the X1i in Canada).
A bit off-topic, but I've installed S2U2 and had some problems. I checked the official thread, but no resolutions. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it out on their Xperia. It seems to run fine for a little bit, but then doesn't show up at all after it's invoked (it still responds to the 'unlock slide', and the device isn't frozen. It's just missing the GFX).
Not to turn this into a complaint thread, but a 3rd issue I have with the phone (which I DO LOVE so much still), is that upon every boot up, I get a notification that states "[Connection Setup] The operator does not exist in the database. Please contact your operator for the connection settings. Connections Setup will redirect you to the Connections screen."
After I click HIDE (only option), I'm forced over to the Connections cpanel, where I already have an active "ISP Modem" connection that I setup when I first got the phone. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before and whether or not they have a fix.
Other than that, I'm truly in love with the phone, a perfect device for my needs!

Me too
I still have this problem. I called SE on 4th and they said they would get back to me in 3-5 days which I questioned at the time. I called them again yesterday as I had heard nothing and they had a record of my name and address but no record of a report being made. I have reported the problem yet again. They said I would get a call back today so I will wait and see.
Wasn´t there a song from the Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" ? or from Roy Orbison "Dream you".
I will take it back IF you get an answer ...

Surprisingly SE just called me back saying they have had quite a few reports of this and they were gathering info so they could pass it through to the developers who are going to release a firmware update. They asked me a few questions about what software version my device had etc.
I urge you if you have this problem to contact them because then it will hurry them along to fix it.
Sony Support - Confirmed Update
Hi all,
Per the above postings I have just contacted Sony Ericsson (UK) support on the following number: 08705 237 237. Support was very helpful and informed me that they were gathering information for new update which should be no promises, released within 2 weeks. They are well aware of two problems. Bluetooth turning off and email/sms alerts not always working. They are looking for any more touble shooting problmes from the X1 community before they close the door developing the new update.
Call now and let's get some of these sorted.
Tom (UK)
ok, so that´s very good and I am taking back my little sarcastic comment

I was as surprised as you were!
I have the same bluetooth problem like you all.
My bluetooth is switched "ON" by default and when I boot up the phone, it is still "ON".
But when I switch the panel, the bluetooth automatically switched "OFF", not sure what is the reason for that.
I tried that but mine stays switched on even if I swap panels. It just seems to turn off randomly.
update
They can add internet explorer mobile 6 to that update as well
This exact issues cause me not to receive anymore SMS text and 0 free memory.
http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/128509#128509
I am experiencing the same issue posted over at androidforums.com. Today I had to take my phone back due to 0 amount of memory left on the device and no SMS or voicemails being received on the device. This along with the sleep issue is unacceptable and I have no clue how Sprint and HTC released devices with such obvious flaws. I was fiving Sprint and HTC another chance after my 6 month disaster of the HTC Touch Pro. Over that time I exchanged it 5 time due to the keyboard failing.
Here is the EXACT same issue I am experiencing: CLICK ME! or read below.
ROM Memory Leak Filling Up Internal Memory
Issue:
Over time, Internal Memory free space dwindles and no amount of clearing apps frees the space. This will also cause the above issue of SMS & Voicemail messages not being received once a critical amount of free space is reached.
During the past few weeks my my Hero has been exhibiting signs of a ROM memory leak. It led to not being able to receive SMS messages even after hard resetting the phone. See these threads for that issue:
HTC Working on critical SMS/Voicemail issue
Intermittent Text Message Receiving - Deals more with intermittent issue, but has some fatal sms isuues in it too.
MMS/SMS stopped working after out of space error?!?
It appears a leak is being caused when rebooting (or turning off bluetooth) the phone when the phone is in a "connecting" status with bluetooth device. Basically the phone stays in a "connecting" status when it fails to connect, even though the notification in the notification bar says it is connected and your bluetooth device says it is connected. In actuality it is not and all calls and audio will be routed to your phone not bluetooth device. If you restart or turn off bluetooth while your phone with a "connecting" status active I have found when you reboot it will eat away at your ROM memory(not RAM). You may not ever notice the bluetooth connection failure if you don't get a call while when it should be active. The "connecting" status does not clear unless you unless it manages to connect after a while which is rare (either does it within a few seconds or not at all) . I made a video of this behavior because not a lot of people have been experiencing or at least catching on to it with their usage patterns.
Edit: It appears that the leak actually occurs even if you turn bluetooth off while the phone is in connecting status so a reset is not necessary for the leak to occur. This basically renders bluetooth use unusable as there is no way I can think of to avoid a leak if it gets stuck with the "connecting" status.
Sorry for the video orientation.

I just returned my first hero today and set up everything all over again. i use bluetooth a lot on the phone, about 4 hrs a day, and would stop getting sms messages. the problem was fixed with a soft reset until recently, which they then told me to get a new one. i guess i will try to deal without using bluetooth for a while and see if any new info comes up or if i get the problem again.
this same thing happened to me too, wish I would have seen this earlier. I was having some BT issues so everything would connect and then disconnect.. so I had to get a new phone too
Can't wait for a patch!
The bluetooth issue isn't settling with me well. I used to use bluetooth daily, now I can't. Htc needs go adress this problem soon....
Hi guys,
I have been lurking XDA for a while, this is my first post.
I love my X10, despite some major flaws. Right now, I don't know what causes it but the X10 keeps hanging up calls at random. I will have to redial every 2-3 minutes, sometimes less. I hear a beep, and the call just ends. This clearly an issue on my side. I don't know whether the proximity sensor is malfunctioning or what, but it is as if I pressed end call. My face is not touching the end call button, but somehow this happens very frequently, it is very annoying. Any insight into this issue will be appreciated.
I have another issue to deal with, updating the software to the R2BA020 versus the R1FA014 currently on my phone. An attempt to update over the air results in "Software is up to date". Using SEUS, I am told to hold the back button and connect the micro-USB. I did that and nothing happens.
I tried using PC companion to repair the current state of the software, it asks for the same back button and USB connection. I tried it, then after the phone booted up, I was instructed to mount the phone. I mounted the phone and the program went back to the USB connection after holding the back button. I am stuck in this loop, don't know what to do.
My phone is from Rogers in Canada. It is an X10a. I hope you guys can help, I am not stupid with technology whatsoever, but I can't figure out how to solve these issues.
Thanks.
i dont know about the hang up issue but i do know when the SEUS updater tells you to put the phone back to pc and mount it, you don't actually have to
I do not see how the program will proceed to the next step though. It is at the "Prepare" stage.
Ok, I figured out the updating issue. I just had to move onto a different computer as my laptop has issues with the USB drivers and whatnot, detecting mass storage devices incorrectly.
I updated to the latest firmware, and notice absolutely no difference......so far. lol
Back to the dropped calls issue, I have had about 3-4 calls each less than 2 minutes long, and no random hang ups as of yet. I will update this thread if anything occurs.
Thanks for the help, appreciate it.
Having read your first post I was just about to reply and say try a different PC/Laptop. Had same thing with my netbook so moved to PC and went thru no probs.
Hope your call problem is resolved too.
Are you using ANY kind of TASK KILLER/PROCESS KILLER etc!?
these could be cutting your calls short if you have added stuff you are not sure of!
It started suddenly after a week on the January update, but I downgraded to Dec update and still have the same issues, meaning it's a hardware defect. Already reported this to google. Anyone else?
Had similar issue
I had a similar issue since yesterday. Tried booting into the safe mode to check if any third party app is doing it( If you wanna try that hold the power button then touch and hold the power icon on the screen). If it still stays it is a hardware issue you need to get it repaired. I just gave my phone to Ubreakfixit
Yes it is a hardware issue. Safe mode, factory reset, downgrading the software did not work.
This just happened to me this morning.
what is going on? this literally just happened to me too this morning. I can make calls via whatsapp/facebook etc, but if I try to call anyone it just says "calling" but there's no sound, eventually it cuts off. If someone tries to call me, the phone doesn't ring and I just get the sms saying there's a message in my voicemail. It says I'm on the 4g network, I can send sms messages and wifi works fine. If I have to ship the phone anywhere I'm ****ed, I'll have to buy another phone as a spare :crying:

Looks like I'm one of the lucky ones. I had to go out and soon as I got to the next town a call came in, so I tested making more calls and it worked fine there. Upon returning home the issue returned. I figured it's gotta mean something is up with my provider or the nearby antenna so asked a few friends who live near me and a neighbour. Turns out they all have the same issue. I'll have to wait it out now and see if they fix it. The wierd part is 4g data and sms work fine and I've still got full signal strength or I'd have assumed that right away.

That sounds more plausible than hundreds of Pixels bottom speaker burning out all of a sudden. When the call supposedly comes in does it show on the screen or just go directly to voicemail? That would be the initial test of the speaker. Does it play music, can you hear notifications? Every once in a while that happens to me and then I just try again a mile or so down the road and it connects fine. If you have wifi calling you can try that too.

No, it was the service provider in the end. My whole town had the issue for a couple days. The company (movistar) have fixed it now so I can make calls and recieve them no problem. To say I was relieved is an understatement.
Bottom speaker broke out of nothing
I guess I'm really unlucky, me and my girlfriend got two pixel 4 in black Friday and both of the phones had the same issue, it started having a crackling sound for a few seconds and then the bottom speaker completely died while in a speakerphone call tried a factory reset with no luck, no sounds comes out, my girlfriend had the phone only for a few weeks when that happened, and in my phone happened last week, now we have to figure how to ship the phone back to the US and try to get a refund, since if it breaks again it would be close to impossible for us to ship it back again

Hello everyone
I own a pixel 4 and it has a constant problem.
after operating normally, suddenly for no apparent reason it loses all sounds and vibrations.
also it is not possible to make calls and freezes in various system applications.
sometimes this is solved with a simple restart of the phone, other times a factory reset is necessary and lately it is required to unlock the boot loader to reinstall the factory image and test with which security patch recovers all its functions and returns to function normally.
It started suddenly after a week on the January update
What would be the cause of this failure in the phone?
At first I reported the problem to google and they indicated the same to most of you; restarting the phone or factory reset and how the method worked no longer insisted.
after the February update its operation was normalized, but with the arrival of the May update the same problem returned.
I had to downgrade to the April update, then to the March update and after several attempts it worked again, but a few days later the problem returns and I have to repeat the process.
What arguments should i use to convince google to change the phone or return my money?
I never rooted
Buy the unlocked phone at BHphoto on Black Friday

sorry
I'm on latest Android 11 DP and I noticed that this release removed a lot of bass from the speaker. I think to prevent the clipping and damage of the speaker.
