Hi All,
As an ex-employee of T-Mobile I recently upgraded to an HTC HD2, to find out with Horror that T-Mobile DO NOT SUPPORT the Youtube app, it has officially been pulled by T-mobile due to conflicts with there software.
My question is, can I wipe the TMO branded OS and load the HTC ROM with Youtube app but leave the TMO radio version, as it optimised for there network ?
Same Here
I de branded it and flashed with the generic radio as well and found my signal to be stronger. I now get 3G in the house. Bear in mind before hand i had 3 bars.
Well worth the effort. Use the hardspl and then the official rom, you wont regret it. I dont think you can keep the original t mobile radio. you may be able to install it afterwards should you feel the need.
Youtube will work on the T-Mobile standard build ROM no need to de-brand, reflash to custom ROM. I just did it the other day. Just find the cab and install. Works fine.
I reckon reflashing with stock ROM might be the better option than just installing the youtube cab. Iv heard that the CAB does work, BUT, it affects normal video playback of your own recorded video clips etc
Hope this helps
You are correct, If i install the Youtube cab, I am not able to play any video content on my sd card. its one or the other.
large12006 can you be more specific please, new to this
Roms
If you go onto the the ROM development screen you will be able to find an instruction guide on how to do it. I followed that. You only need to do the hardspl once. Its really easy. one issue is during flashing the rom mine froze for a couple of minutes at 70% it carry on so don't pull the usb out otherwise you will end up with a paper weight. since i did mine this has been put up and should help you a great deal. you will notice the difference in the phone as well alot smoother and less laggy
Take a gander at this and let e know on a pm how you got on

Good day to all!
First of all let me introduce myself. I'm David and I'm an executive in a transcription company in the Philippines. I recently bought a Dopod 838 Pro to aid me in organizing myself and to keep my productivity up. So far, it's doing a marvelous job! Totally worth the investment, I might add.
Now on to my issues (don't we all have them? ). I'm very keen on keeping myself updated with the latest software especially when it comes to bug fixes and patches. I've read through almost half the Hermes threads on the boards and I have several questions that the threads have not answered.
1. I'm very curious regarding WM6, my Dopod has WM5 on it and I'm wondering if its worth upgrading to 6. Would you experienced users recommend me upgrading?
2. I also heavily use my Dopod as a media center, I access the internet through wifi, hsdpa, edge and even 3g. I even play movies on it while I'm out of town on business using TCPMP. Oh, lets not forget MP3s. I also can't go through the day without using Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Will upgrading my phone's ROM and consequently its OS cause problems in this regard?
3. If you do recommend me updating my ROM, Which ROM would you choose for me knowing how I use my Dopod.
4. I've read through the warnings regarding flashing ROMs. I've flashed a few hardware before, DVD-writers, PC BIOS and even modems and routers, they were all successful. Now, since it represents a significant amount of cash, and I dont want to "brick" my Dopod, is the risk of changing ROMS worth it?
5. I am a control freak (if you did not already notice reading this exceptionally long intro to a thread), I want to be able to control all if not most of the aspects of my Dopod. Again, which ROM/program would you recommend.
That's just about it. I would really appreciate your answers guys. Thank you in advance and allow me to say that your work on this thread is highly appreciated! Blessings to all!
If you depend on your PDA for work then I'd recommend to play it safe and wait with the upgrade to WM6 until HTC/Dopod releases the official version.
I use my PDA at least fifty percent for work. I tried WM6 but had a few issues, the most serious one with Bluetooth and loosing connection to my headset and then the phone refusing to reconnect unless I soft reset it! (Not very nice when this happens in the middle of a phone call with a customer.)
1. yes
2.no
3.check the latest LVSW, or one of it's derivatives, like elf, sleuth or V3pg
4.as long as you follow MrVanx's guide you'll be fine.
5.Sleuth's LVSW derivative, but that's just my opninion. Any of the above ROMs would work

I have seen this question posted 2-3 times in the last couple weeks. You might wanna try saerching through the threads for more opinions.
2. I also heavily use my Dopod as a media center, I access the internet through wifi, hsdpa, edge and even 3g. I even play movies on it while I'm out of town on business using TCPMP. Media issues are generally uncommon in "these" (custom) ROM upgrades. Its usually communication bugs that you have to deal with.
3. If you do recommend me updating my ROM, Which ROM would you choose for me knowing how I use my Dopod.
Black2.5 is stable, so is Sleuths Derivative. If you new to flashing choose a rom that has already been around and has had the bugs worked out.
5 months ago, yes. Now, not as much. Make SURE you read up on HardSPL before you flash, and use the mrvanxguide
5. I am a control freak (if you did not already notice reading this exceptionally long intro to a thread), I want to be able to control all if not most of the aspects of my Dopod. Again, which ROM/program would you recommend.
Same as before. Theres lots of little cool customizations that you can do, but a ROM upgrade is not going to be more customizable than WM5.

Great replies guys. Thanks.
I've already flashed my device with the ELF WM6 LVSW derivative. Works great. just has a few refresh problems. Today screen does not apply changes I've made without restarting the device, also contacts on the sim card remain visible even after checking the "show contacts only".
All help is well come.
I brought a Jasjam and there are some issues that I need to solve.
- Screen goes white sometimes, but I figured to turn it off and turn back on and it fixes it. Is there a better way of doing it? Upgrading?
- I run windows 7 and it says that driver failed when connecting Jasjam to windows 7 to sync, unless i connect and restart the phone, then it works.
- I wanna upgrade to WM6, but all the articles I read has too much info, which is just not user friendly. What are the best roms out there, or you think is the good?
Cheers
XdesdX,
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and feedback.

I run Windows 7 as well and my Jasjam synced just fine. It was on WM5, and it worked fine even after upgrading to WM6.1. I think you should try hard-resetting the device and/or upgrading to a newer ROM and see if that fixes it (and your other problems)
---------
I haven't had too much experience with the Jasjam as well, but as far as I can see, the CRCinAU ROMs are one of the best in terms of speed and stability. There are also other good ROMs out there, like DarkVision's and Schap's, and some older ones like Pays, but I prefer CRC's as it simply is the fastest there is (If someone can prove me wrong, please be my guest!)
-----
To start off with, first look in the wiki. Now in the Wiki, the first thing you should read is "Hermes for beginners". Keep the Hermes Wikitionary open incase you come across an unknown term.
Next step is to upgrade the SPL on your device to Hard-SPL. Go through all the steps, and if it fails, recheck if you'd done everything right, and if its still failing, you might need to CID Unlock it. (Once again, let me remind you of the Wikitionary page that you've kept open in the background which you can use to refer when you come across unknown terms!)
I highly recommend upgrading the Radio as well, especially if you want to use 3G. Radio updates affect battery life, call quality and network connectivity in general. I personally had good experiences with 1.47.30.10 but some prefer 1.54.30.10. Check the stickies in the Hermes forums to help you decide which radio might suit you, and try out which one works the best for you. Newer isn't necessarily better, it also depends on your network provider so use a version that works best for *you*.
Finally, check the Hermes Upgrade Guide for details on how to upgrade the ROM. (There are also guides for the Radio and SPL)
Whenever you flash a new ROM don't forget to hard-reset afterwards. If you're upgrading from a cooked ROM to a different one, flash the OEM ROM first (links usually present in the thread of the cooked ROM) before you flash the new cooked ROM.
Also, for any type of flashing (OS/RADIO/SPL etc) I highly recommend the SD Card method as chances of failure are lesser.
Good luck!
cheers guys, im going to use some of the things that you have mentioned, and I will let you know of the outcome.
hii there..i am recently running 6.1 pn9b1 rom on my imate jasjam.i want to know if any 6.5 version is available for imate jasjam??
Yes, just look in the Hermes forums under "Hermes Mobile 6". Infact, nearly all the ROMs in the first page you see will be for WM6.5.
Personally though I'm going to stick to WM6.1 as its performance is much better on the Hermes.
I'm looking for some advice concerning 3G connection from vodafone in The Nederlands. Right after putting new simcard into my HD I started getting this annoying:
"dialled...
cannot connect for an unknown reason..."
error every time some application tried to get a 3G connection. So decided to put some new cooked ROM based on 6.5. My old one was almost 1 year old and based on 6.1.
So picked up the new Laurentius en voila, it fixed the problem.
Played around a bit with this new rom and decided to check out the XannyTech Grid 1.2.5. Played around with it for one day. Had to soft reset a couple of times cause of HTC messaging that was freezing everytime it tried to read all the txt messages that I restored plus I played around with different tweaks from Advanced Confing etc.
Anyway after all that I soft-reseted for the last time, started up an Opera and bam... connection error again. Exactly as the one before. Did a hard reset, nothing. Same problem all the time.
Anybody experienced something similar ? What do you think it could be ? Should I upgrade my radio ? My current one is 1.13. I was thinking about upgrading to 1.17 but it's very much dependent on a service provider and place so I'm wondering if there's anybody from Nederlands who could give me advice on that, maybe there's some specific version that is the best for Voda ?
thanks for support
Running vodafone in NL here and have to say im having no problems.
Been running on the 1.14 since it was available and just last week switched to the 1.17 and thats running a bit better than the 1.14.
Also i've been running a lot of roms from this place and never experienced the issue you describe.
Suppose it might be the mix of 1.13 and the rillphone dll's found in the varying roms you tried. Since the radio and rillphone dll need to be compatible and support each others functions this might cause your issues.
So concluding my guess would be to try the 1.17 radio.
Yes, as explained in the Android Thread, Voda NL has trouble with their 3G Network or Internet Connection. http://tweakers.net/nieuws/63198/vodafone-kampt-opnieuw-met-landelijke-storing-datanetwerk.html
What the HELL has this to do with Blackstone ROM development!? Come on.
Please mods, close this.
ok, looks like I should check the voda website next time. I'll upgrade the radio anyway since lots of people say that it works good for them. Thanks for help

Looks like you should get some green tea or a massage, I heard that it helps with stress... but come to think about it I'm not very surprised by your reactions since you're probably dutch...
Dear TS,
Just look at any random dutch techsite or just contact Vodafone...
For example see:

Hello,
A couple of questions I wouldn't mind u guys answering please..
I have updated the SPLon the HD2 I am on T-mobile UK network without issue.
Q2 Now with the amount of roms available which ones are compatible with t-mobile i.e normal operation? Reading through some threads it appears that T-mobile have restricted some functionality on the HD2.
So I am looking for a compatible rom, that unlocks the features and of course ensure phone stability.
my rom is 1.43.110.2(70315) WWE
radio version 2.04.50.22_2
Thanks in advance
Dave
there are no roms that are not compatible with any network.
the issues are generally that the data connection doesn't get set up correctly, but it's a breeze to set them up manually.
Ok thanks I will give it a go, any recommended version comes to mind?
thanks
personally, Duttys HG ROMs are sweet, the latest is linked on my signature
roms are a very personal thing. the one in my sig is my fave just like eddyos prefers dutty.
try them, see which you like and use it.
Great stuff,
I appreciate both of your inputs!!!
I am on a learning curve with all this, I have just had to reset my SPL back to default this afternoon which freaked me out as I have a screen problem with a LCD leak, and learned that HTC dont like customisations which will invalidate the gaurantee; but the SPL reload worked ok, and a perfectly described process on youtube thanks to this site and contributers.
I have only had this phone for two weeks. However, I am confident now with upgrading when I get my phone back.
Regards
Dave
ahh unlucky. still, at least you had a practice run eh? better luck next time!
ok so i'm a total newbie at things like this and this my first post/question... i am an att customer from reno nevada i've loved and used HTC phones since the first one came out years ago. i used to have a touch pro 2 aka tilt 2 but fell in love with my buddies HD2 from t mobile. i did some research and found that a telstra HD2 t9193 would work on ATT and get 3g. now i have the phone and i havent the slightest clue what to do. i cant go on the internet and cant customize the phone to me. i can make calls and txt msg but basicly nothing else. now i dont even care really if i get the 3g or not but i want to customize my phone like the quick links and programs and at least use the internet and have things like the weather updates. i cant do any of that.
to sum up i have the phone but alll i can do is make calls and txt msg nothing else,
can some one please walk me through how to set this stuff up and if and when you do assume i'm an idiot or a 3rd grader.
Have you gone into settings/wireless controls and turned on Data Connection?
Chances are he needs to change his APN settings for AT&T.
Well as far as I know the HD2 finds the APN settings. I use a European HD2 on Rogers Wireless, and it found the settings the moment the sim card was installed. But you're right. He should check the APN settings to be sure.
thanks for replying guys so i tried to go into settings>data connection and it gives me a message that 'this connection is pre-configured and cannot be modified.' also that all internet and data goes through telstra internet. and unfortunetely i have no idea what apn settings are or how to change them.
also i got a voicemail from a friend but when i tried to retreive it i got a recorded message about international codes and dialing if that helps you understand whats going on at all

The problem I had with leaving the Telstra rom alone was that the ROM itself is so bloated with the provider's extra features that couldn't be used here in the US, that simply tweaking the registry settings to properly setup my phone to the sim-card wasn't enough. I had to download HSPL. Install it on the phone, and ultimately flash a new rom and radio to finally get to where I wanted it to be at. Overall, I am more than happy with the T9193.
You might want to do the same as well, since flashing the ROM will enhance your experience using the phone (Clean install is always better) and flashing a new Radio will give you better frequency management (Better reception with GPS and UMTS).
Any chance you could provide pointers to what ROM and HSPL you used for your Telstra HD2 on AT&T? I'd like to use an HTC stock ROM, but going to their site the ROMs I find say they won't work on my Telstra HD2 (based on SN).
Flash a different ROM.
The reason it doesn't work is because the stock ROM has the APN setup removed, and is preconfigured with Telstra's APN settings. Other HD2 Roms will have Connection Setup available so you can have AT&T's settings loaded.
lots of info in this thread.
the 1st HSPL version works, then most custom roms.
T 9193 running clean and stable with fair battery life
with all the bat. suckers running. See below for specs. Average 1.3 Mbs down. Stream movie or TV on H with no problems.
flash custom
Yes. I am using a Telstra T9193 in CA, had the same issue. Also, most custom ROMs automatically configure the data/connection settings, which is very nice.
~Anastasia~best rom ever. so far

again thanx guys i really appreciate all the help and the links to more info and i fell good now. ive spent the last 6 hrs reading and learning more. i am going to flash the rom and put a new one on. if you guys could post some links to some good roms i'd appreciate it as well. i think i'm looking for something close to HTCs basic but something that will still work w/ AT&T
also i'm looking to learn how to put HSPL on my phone my version says SPL-1.66.0000 i see on the links how to for other models but i havent found how for this perticular one
i think you have to down grade first by flashing a telstra 1.48 or 1.49 rom.
that should bring your spl down to 1.42.
then you can flash hspl 1 and next the htc generic rom
when i bought my telstra, it came with spl 1.42 and so all i had to do flash hspl 1, then i flashed an oem htc rom.
ok so looking around i found this page on ppcgeeks,,com (wont let me post the real link) and on it it has a hardSPL2 that says it should work with 1.66 i'm still a little confused as to what i'd need to do. is this a good safe thing or not?
oh just saw that the person who created the HSPL2 is a member on here called bepe again though is this a good safe thing? i dont want to screw the phone up
from what i read in the past was that hspl2 doesnt work on telstras hd2. it might have changed since then and i havent kept up on it since ive already flashed mine.
you need to research more to see if that is feasable for the telstra hd2.

Are you able to get 3G on Rogers with a European HD2? I thought the European phone only supported 900 & 2100 HSPA whereas Rogers needs 850 or 1900 HSPA for 3G.
