if anyone is famaliar with iGO or MioMap, could you tell me how to add favorite/contacts? i have my friend's address in the history but i would like to actually save it somewhere, i dont know how to do this, im guessing it needs to be saved to the POI but idk how to do this.
thanks for any help!
I can provide you with some help for iGO.
Go to Map, then you press Menu->History. Pick up the address of the person you want to add as POI, iGO will show you the location on the map. Open the bottom menu of the main screen by pressing the arrow in the bottom right corner. Choose POI->Add POI, enter the name of the new POI and press Done. Now you will see a summary of your new POI. The POI is stored in a new group of POIs - "Unnamed". To change the name of the group go back to map view (press twice backspace arrow in the top left corner). Choose Menu->Quick->Manage POI->My POI->Unnamed->Edit and change the name to what ever you want.
thanks! looks like with MioMap i cant do this, which is pretty weird, but fortunatly with iGO it was just that easy.
if you have his address properly entered in your contacts it should show up in MIO pois under contacts
you must have the address in the following format
Street address
City, STATE zip code
I dont understand how to do this. I select Menu, but I dont see History. History is available from Find or Manage but I dont see any way of adding a contact there. A Windows Mobile device has a Contacts menu on the Today screen. Is there no way of iGo picking up an address from there?
Is there a weather app that can track your location like if i went to nyc it can see what cell tower i am at and change my weather automatically to nyc location or even if you drive to town to town it will change too.
i think that would be a great program to make. i know there is a cell catcher that finds the cell id and zip code if you can make the weather to do the same to see the zip code from the cell tower.
Hello,
i want to buy a gps tracker for my son and be able to look where he is by sms receive and read the lat long into TOMTOM 6 or 7.
Did you now if a special import programme exist?
I here from navideo but dont have receive any answer from the company with my request.
Tanks in advance
Try Navizon. Works great with touch cruise.
Garmin Xt also has that option.
Gps exchange
Thanks for the answer.
I look quickly navizon but as i see i dont use sms coordinate. You must use NAVIZON ON LINE.
I am interessed to use sms with gps lat long coordinate and see the location without use internet connection.
I can donwnload google map for necessity but my tarif plan cost to much for internet use.
As I told before Garmin XT has that option. It is called peer points. You can send and receive the coordinates and see them in the gps map without having to pay anything besides the sms.
Thanks a lot pereirald,
I will try it look great your information
Is a petty that kind of function didnt exist in tomtom or that no small plugin exist.
Hello pereirald
I look the manual and i see that this sms exchange are only avaylable for GARMIN product.
It can be that i don't read good enouth in English.
In my case i have to use a GPS TRACKER that not give the possibility to change the sms header and message.
Thanks in advance for your replay
Hi pako1
I think that in that case you have to introduce the coordinates by hand (probably the thing you didn't wanted to do) and so it doesn't matter which software you have on your polaris. I think almost all have the ability to introduce coordinates. I thought that because you were still going to buy the gps tracker and so you could go on a Garmin product for your son and XT for you. Anyway , hope you get what you want

Hi Pako,
I think you need something like
1 - MobileJustice, Sprite Terminator or some other piece of so called "Antitheft software" that is able to receive an SMS and reply with the present GPS coordinates (device with GPS intern/external).
2 - The SMS sender is the easy part (any mobile phone will do);
3 - transforming the recieved SMS coordinates in a point on a map may be done by Google Earth or any of those pointed in 1)
Good Luck / Hope this helps
thanks Ulopes,
but your answer is not helping me.
The fact is that the gps tracker send "SMS WITH LAT LONG" but from my HTC CRUISE i cant see in automatic the location on a map without access to internet ( my internet gsm plan is expensive).
I need :
1) read sms from a application
2) locate the lat/long coordinate on a map without any external connection ( NO WIFI, NO GPRS, NO TELEPHONE)
3) It will be wonderfull read this coordinate from SMS INBOX and watch it as point in TOMTOM O garmin xt or in a GOOGLE MAP CACHE.
I think that this kind off application will be helpfull for a lot of application as:
CHILD GPS TRACKER, CAR LOCATION, security location of bagage ecc
Ciao
Please explain:
How is it possible to extract lat. and lon. gps possition from received or sent sms?

I too have been trying very hard finding this kind of software but without success. Phonetracker will not work for me because my tracking device is Benefon TWIG Locator that is not supported for TomTom Navigator or Google Maps Mobile. Strange that it is supported for Garmin Mobile XT only.
I have also tried
GPS.PI http://www.jgui.net/gps/gpspi/
OXI2OZI http://www.frada.net/ozi2ozi/ozi2ozi.htm
But without success with my devices
HTC TyTN II, WM6.1
Benefon TWIG Locator
Is there anyone out there knowing about a useable solution?
and what about non gps
is there a solution for non gps phone?
i want to recieve a phone location (from cellular network) by sms.
is there a solution for me?
somehow my location stopped working.. in both android and winmo..
the weather app says no current condition available and the maps program says unable to location you position..
any ideas?
did my sim card get damaged? edit, tested in my old dash and it finds my location
Hi i have just looked in my widget draw and i see a new widget called Traffic, any ideas what this is or does ?????
I believe it was added with the recent google maps update. You give it a name and input a destination and i believe you will see a traffic light widget. If the light is green, theres no traffic between you and that destination.
I could be wrong

When created you type a address.
When GPS is on, it should show how delayed your commute will be.
When clicked it show your route and traffic information (if any).
