Handmark TV Guide cab - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

I actually had some version of this, but when I first use it and register all of my information, it kicks me out and tells me my connection is in airplane mode or too weak (wifi and 4 bars of 3G at the time).
I think I might have a bad cab.
I know they don't make/support this anymore, but the program still works. I downloaded the one I have from FreewarePPC (http://freewareppc.com/hobbies/tvguidemobile.shtml) so I know that's not a good one.

Not much help, but I've been running the program for a long time (8525/Tilt/Tilt2) - and a few days ago it stopped working and giving me the same message. I finally just removed the program and use their website - http://wireless.tvguide.com. I liked the way it worked on previous phones, and it never worked well on Tilt2 anyhow.

Oh then maybe it's not the cab itself but the feed for it. That is helpful. I guess I'll just have to add this to my internet bookmarks.

I am looking for a good program to replace the TV Guide, currently using their website but it only allows you to set 5 shows for reminders. I would like something that keeps up to date and only reminds me about new episodes, no reruns LOL
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

So is it confirmed that this app no longer works at all?
I had it on my Ozone, but the CAB I had for it will not work on my TP2.
Looking for a CAB for it, since it has been pulled from Handmark's website.
But I guess the point is moot if it really no longer works.

Yeah, I haven't gotten this baby to work at all. Sad really. But it fits into TV Guide's gradual demise into CRAP.

Retina WiFi Scanner/Brute Force WEP

so i actually found a copy of Retina WiFi scanner, and loaded it up on my HTC wiz (8125). But when I went to start it, it came back saying that it could not initiate the drivers, and that to turn my wifi card on...
Like I didn't already do that...
Anyone else come up with that error message, and is there any known way around it?
retina device driver;
hallo, i have the same problem. if you have found a sollution let me know
TYTN II UK
nope, no solutions. I actually abandoned the project cause i could find no one smarter then who actually knew what they were doing
The most I could come up with, however, was that for those that did get it to work, it usually took a long time for it to get anywhere, and by the time it did get anywhere their battery life was near shot.
I can send you the application if you like.

can you send me the file? pm me the link on rapidshare or something
weell....
well, apparently I misspoke. I thought i had that program stored away on my second harddrive, but apparently i do not. As it is, i don't have it anywhere except on my pocket pc and that is as an application.
however, i do remember reading somewhere that there is a program that can actually extract the .cab from the ppc in case of something like what has happened to me, happens. So i will research that and see if i can come up with something.
Again, I am really sorry, and rest assured if i did have it, it would have been up on rapishare that very day...
as it is, like most things, i am going to have to do it the hardway...
If in fact you do want to continue looking for it, i cannot remember if i found via torrent, or some russian site. those russian sites have EVERYTHING. Although I would suggest going through google to translate them. Unless of course you can read russian then kudo's to you.
Either way, I will work on seeing if i can extract the .cab from my phone.
stay tuned!
"Retina Wifi" is available for free from here -
http://www.eeye.com/html/downloads/index.html
You just have to register and they email you a download link. I shall have a play (although I shall be using a Hermes rather than my Wizard and probably won't come back to say if it works due to lazyness).
Hope that helps
that's new...
when i was there last, they said that they no longer supported the project. Unless this is a different think then what we were originally talking about.
the version that i was referring to, had a neat little brute force wep cracker. i read some pro's and con's to it and thought that it would be cool just to have.
but hey, register, and then share your find if it's worthwhile!
like i started to say earlier it has been a while since i played with my HTC wizard, and a lot of this is more or less a vaguery for me.
(yes i just made that word up)

the only way of extracting an installed app as a cab from a ppc, that i know of, is sk schema or sk tracker, cant remember which but the software from sk has to be installed BEFORE you install the app
, so i doubt that will be of use to you.
hmmm...
yes, those names do sound familiar...
and yeah, installing it before hand might put a damper on things.
....
hmm i just had a thought, i wonder if i stored it as a backup on my sd card. as it is right i basically use my ppc for "war driving" (that is driving around in the car sniffing for wifi signals, courtesy of wififofum, for those that don't know) and as a glorified mp3 player for my truck (conduits player is great... just as a fyi)... however all my songs on my phone are all stored on a 2 gig micro sd card...
but i don't remember if i erased my backups to make room for more songs...
hold on all! don't close the thread yet there still may be hope!
do u still want the program ? let me know and I'll email you the install file.. I get the same error with the drivers on my qtek 9100. Let me know if you can get it to work.
i'm not 100% sure, but i remember seeing somewhere (years ago) that this program only works with compactflash wifi cards, and not internal ones. this could possibly be the issue about the driver thing. any other similar programs available for wep / wpa cracking?
bump... would love to see this app (or one like it work)

Touch H.D. - A review from a W.M. Virgin

I was due an upgrade from Orange, after having used a n95 for the last year or so, which was a device I liked. Works straight out of the box as a phone, with the features you would expect a modern phone to have aready implemented in a user friendly manner. Also has the capability to be updated and personailse as you see fit - mine had orange o.s. ripped out within a day of arriving.
Knowing an upgrade was due I spent an afternoon on the net wondering what to go for. Seriously consider decamping to O2 for an iphone, mainly because of the data tariffs there, but had my eye turned by this new Touch H.D. gizmo. Now partly because a few of my mates already have iphones, and partly because I enjoy being contrary, and also because I hate the way "Apple" are trendy and Microsoft hated, the H.D. it was.
Haggled away with Orange and managed to get 1200mins, 500 texts, 0.5gig data for 45 quid month. So in went my order.
The HD arrived the next day. I excitedly opened the very sexy packaging (I have a very sad affection for gadget boxes and keep them for years - even after the device has packed up!), had a quick read of the quick start, plugged her in and off I went.
Nice looking skin, quick to where you want to go. Seems good.
But then things got sticky. I wanted to find out how to bluetooth contacts over to the H.D. Nothing in the quickstart nor the pdf. I know, I know, I could of stuck me old sim in and copied the contacts over, but this is a new toy and we like to play, right? After a couple of hours got an answer over the interweb about how to do this. Phew. Then did the sensible thing of copying these contacts to the sim for safety. Uh oh - the dreaded duplicate contact showing problem.
Then I decided to try the browser. As per another post I could not connect to wifi for an age, then it suddenly started working. Furthermore, I was getting a constant "xml parsing error" when trying to connect via Orange Internet. Had had the phone six hours now, and had only managed to get duplicate contacts on! Arrggghh, fustration of the nation.
Sent a text to a mate, only had I? No sending confirmation. What is going on? Oh, all messages--->sent. Mmm, hardly immediately user friendly.
I was getting tired, so set the alarm. How primitive thought I. More primitive than I realised when I was awoken and finally worked out that three button presses were required to get the alarm into snooze mode. Three! And only then if you had randomly pressed the alarm icon in the top bar in the hope it would do something - couldn't see this advice in any instructions anyway.
So by my second day was getting very dubious about this hardware, even allowing for the mandatory new device learning curve. Happily I stumbled across this place. Installed all the recommended softwares.
Klaxon - hey, my alarm now works like all the other alarms on all other phones.
Adavance Config - hey now I get an sms sent confirmation, and my phone is faster.
Backup -copied my contacts from the storage card, after running this programme, to my pc, deleted the sim contacts and hey presto! No more duplicate sims, and a safe back up.
I then played around with the advanced connection setting and the connection wizard and bang - my browser now works!!!
Suddenly I start to like this phone. Nay love it. It appeals to the very big geek inside of me. Its hard to use, you have to batter away at it to make it user friendly. It's more like a p.c. than a phone - ding dong! It is more like a p.c. than a phone.
And here in lies a problem I believe for the majority of users who will gets this phone and will be flummoxed by it and bin it back to Orange.
It needs to be set up as a phone first if Orange are flogging it as a phone, and not a p.d.a. as they do Blackberry. Little things, like a decent alarm clock, sms confirmation, instructions for contacts, turn off sim contacts option. A much better wlan interface - akin to the N95 would help. On that device selecting the browser gives you a pop up which gives you the option of orange internet, or if one is available a wlan. A simple click on the wlan you want and you're in. All very easy, and in contrast to having to open up communication, wireless lan, wlan, advanced, to swap to a different wlan.
None of these things would take too much effort to implement, and would make the Touch HD excellent for a beginner out of the box.
Your average user though will find these irritatations unforgiveable in some circumstances, and if the rumours of high returns to Orange are right, I bet the above bug bears have a large part to play in this.
However, once the phone is personalised, and once it is accepted as a computer, then I think it is fantastic. It's gorgeous to look at and hold, there's lots of nice little features- cover flow in favourite contacts is good eye candy for example.
And now I realise Ive got another piece of Redmond in my pocket, I'm even happier. This phone is a geeks dream - the "chic of tweak" perhaps? After four days with it I love it. I'm going to love it even more in months to come when some clever peeps get Android running on it, or when WM6.5/7 comes out.
A fantastic computer that does phone calls, as well. But out of the box, not a fantastic phone.
Just my 2p's worth.
Interesting to read your experience. I'll keep some of those things in mind when I get my phone next week. Do you have links to the software you added from here? (like Klaxon, Advanced Config, Backup...) I know I can search the forum, but I thought maybe you had them handy to post.

Remember also when you get your phone to add "file manager" to your list of programmes. The software is already on the phone, and you need it to navigate to your storage card to run new programmes.
Enjoy!

Thanks!
excellent review that provides a good insight for winmo newbies, and I sure recognize my first experience in this, winmo is an acquiered taste and it gets addictive with time because yes, this phone really is an ultraportable PC with a phone slapped onto it. I'm gonna send this to some people I know still sitting on the fence

(REQ) Can we get Nascar Mobile Live?!?

Hi, I have a Sprint Diamond and would love to have Nascar Mobile Live! We got the NFL Live to work so I figure Nascar can too. I am sure lots of others would like this app as well!
Thanks in advance!
You should just be able to open up either opera browser or IE6 on your phone and it will be on sprints website you can then search on there if it isn't already on the main page.
i have and i txt nascar to 7777 to get the download link and its says that it is not available for my device, even though on the advertisment for tje phone on sprints website it says that it is. I was just hoping a developer could get it to work on our device.
apparently we cant get this sprint owners ecare said their sorry for the inconvience of the false advertisment on the phones details but it is not available for the diamond. I know people want thus to because 90 others have viewd this!
I have the TP and I was able to get the application just by texting NASCAR to 7777. Unfortunately I don't have the installer anymore, or I would post it. Maybe I'll try to get it a little bit later for you guys.
Kevin
that would be awesome! If you can i might have to buy you a beer!
I have it on my phone and downloaded right from there sight I'll post it in a little bit I have to run out real quick
OK, here's the file. It should work with any Sprint phone. I can't promise what it will do on other phones.

Awesome! it works on my Fuze. Thanks!
Yep, works fine on Sprint Touch Pro as well.
It don't work anymore, at least not on my Touch Pro2. It says I have to be on the now network which I am. I tried the new version and it says it's temporarily not available on my device and to try later. One of the reasons I chose this phone was for the in car radio. Guess they got my money and screwed me.

JAVA & F1-applet?

Currently I'm running the Cell Pro V11 and although I don't think this ROM-version can be the problem, I thought it was worthy mentioning.
I'm trying to get the official F1-applet going that mobile users can download from http://mobile.formula1.com but for some reason it comes up with an OutofMemory-error even when my TP2 has "only" 48% used after a soft reset.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced this as well or that maybe a JAVA-update is in order or that there is some volatile memory that needs excluding in the registry for this app to work.
Really appreciate some answers/pointers from fellow F1-fans.
Same problem for me as well. Haven't figured out what is wrong. Really wish it wasn't a Java applet.
I will look into that. Downloading and testing.

Much appreciated Sergio; I know you're quite the busy bee...
In the FAQ section for the TP2 you will find a link to install JavaFX.
The repeat the procedure and you will not get out of memory anymore
Thanks for that; will try later tonight or tomorrow and report back...
/edit: it works... Bit slow though but I will try it out next F1 to see how accurate it is.
Thanks for the JavaFX hint.
Installed fine but unable to login message keeps coming up with unable to find server.
Any hints mates?
stock Sprint TP2 6.5 Sense 2.5.
Woke up this AM in the USA, & lo & behold the app worked for Round 3 of the WCC - Malaysia.
Nice stuff.
Must've been server issues not allowing some of us to connect the last couple of days.
Best advice I can say for Touch Pro2 owners is download the JavaFX & install that before downloading latest F1 App.
Should be able to get the HTC soft keyboard up & running too & u can choose not to use the app's own proprietary soft keyboard.

palringo IM on hd2

has anyone been able to install this on their tmobile hd2? i tried installing via opera on my phone and "an error occurred" during installation. when copying the cab file over to my phone and navigating to it via explorer, clicking on it does nothing...doesn't start the installation. installing apps hasn't changed, right? navigate to the cab and click it? i owned the original HD last year and am winmo capable...bah!
thanks,
rob
i attached the ones i downloaded a while ago.
the larger one (1) is beta version - this is the one i prefer.
a message for update will arrive shortly after first use.
awesome, the beta installed fine. i guess palringo gave me the wrong cab version or something. thanks!
you're welcome
wow, that was fast
Palringo is great, but remember that it is better to turn it off when not using.
Otherwise, you will run out of batter sooner than you think
yea, i remember using it on my htc touch hd1. it did hurt battery a bit, but it seemed like the best IM client out there at the time. because i've always got my laptop and bag with me, i guess i'll have to make sure to keep my charging cable with me as well.

after first use of the beta? i haven't received an updated message yet...is it to update to a non-beta full version?
only an updated beta i think.
you have to have a little patience, sometimes it takes 30 mins or so for the message to appear.
hello! I've been using palringo too and I think it's the best messenger app out there but does anyone has this problem? Every time I try to share a picture, I can't launch the camera anymore and have to soft reset...!
i like beejive more but unfortunately it doesn't provide support for its winmo version anymore and sometimes it doesn't work for days. so overall i also think palringo is the best for winmo.
i have never tried to send files through palringo so i can't help.
just one more thing, i've just read somebody managed to run succesfully fring for xperia x1 on hd2. perhaps we might also give it a try
