r u sure you don't mean the HD2?
Either it be the hd or hd2, they are both in a different league from the touch2. The hd and hd2 are multimedia beasts with incredibly capable hardware, while the touch2 is designed and marketed to be a midrange phone.
No I meant HD
Well if HD offer more in term of graphic power I am still ok with touch 2 but just hope that the support and community for it just grows as strong as for HD!!!

Hi fellow Xda members.
I'm considering of changing my N95 8GB out with a new HTC device. I just can't decide between the HD or the Diamond2.
As I see it the HD has a bigger screen and therefore more chunky and less handy. And the price tag of the Diamond2 is much lower. Is it true that other than that they are identical?
Does the screen size really matter that much, I will use it mostly for email and internet surfing.
What would you chose? Hope someone can make my decision making easier.
Thanks a lot
I haven't had the new Diamond in my hand, but I've been using my HD for three months now. The size is absolutely perfect, it's just right. It's as big as it can get without being too uncomfortable to wear in the pocket or use with a single hand.
I'd say go for the HD, but I'm not familiar with Diamond 2's price tag, if that's your deciding factor. It really boils down to whether you think that the larger screen and form factor (TD2 is ugly) are worth it.
The price tag isn't really a deciding factor. I really like the big screen of the HD
Is there any news on the video recording capabilities of the new TD2 ?
Or is it the same as the HD?
Screen size
Battery life
Zoom bar on Diamond2
3.5mm jack on TouchHD
Housing of TouchHD vs Housing of Diamond2
Price tag
Btw, diamond2 should be more expensive or just as expensive as the touch hd since it's a new device even thought it's a lower end device.
Hey Mate
one of my work mates has the Diamond and after he seen my HD he regrets the purchase once ur familiar with the HD there is no other you want, as long as you use a video convertor easily found on this site it works great my VIDS are so clear and the sounds is awesome my whole company is jealous
i think the screen size of the hd is an important feature in a keyboard-less device like this
less screen size equals smaller virtual keys
and bigger pain when writing
HD every time. Big screen is fantastic but not too big. Any bigger (ref Toshiba) and it would be cumbersome.
For internet surfing - that was one of your needs - the HD is great. Here is where the big screen and high resolution really shows.

What does the video converter do? Do you use it after you record something with the HD to make the quality better?
Thanks a lot for the reply everybody, so I guess the HD isn't chunky and too big after all :-D
Does anyone know the specs for the video recording of the new TD2?
Check out PDADB.
You'll see that the new Diamond II has the same camera as the Touch HD.
By the way, a videoconverter converts a video
It converts a video to a size that's optimized for the screen on your phone.
Means you can scale your vids too 480x800 and having the quality optimized so it'll look fabulous on your phone.

Okay thanks..
haha I know what it means
But maybe it could do some magic so that the recording got better hahaha
Because there is such a program for Samsung Omnia...
for me it was the screen size... had been using BlueAngel for past 4 yrs.... it is still working fine.... only hiccup was that it did not support faster data connection (only GPRS... no Edge or 3G). only thing that I miss in HD right now is the h/w keyboard.... but i'm getting used to the onscreen qwerty of HD.
Never used the TD2 but I used to have the original TD and that was simply awfull!
It kept hanging, had an earth problem and was really crap for signal, check the specs of the processor/RAM out before you make a decision!
I have the HD now and can say it's absolutely fantastic, it is the perfect size and coming from the TD it feels more comfortable aswell!

Not that I know off.
IF there's a similiar program for the Touch HD, I'd be happy to use it too.
As far as camerawise, my personal opinion is to rather have a pixon, n96 or a x1.
In my opinion phones for the "more standard users" but with better camera's.
I'm thinking of getting the Diamond2. I lost my HD on holiday a couple of weeks ago and if the insurance comes back with money instead of a new HD I'd like a change. There isn't a massive difference in screen size, but the diamond2 is slated for an official upgrade to WM6.5 when it arrives later this year. I won't miss the 3.5mm socket since I never really used it on the HD. Battery life might be the only killer for me as its not as well specced as the HD in that department.
i should go for the pro 2 because i hate the onscreen keybord
I have read dozens of reviews of the htc touch hd which really got me interested after ditching my iphone for an xperia. The xperia is quite fun but have many bad and good experience with it. Its really getting on my nerve about how slow it is sometimes and not much of a keyboard user except sometimes where its really useful. I want to know is the responsiveness on the htc touch hd any good compare to the iphone or xperia i have no troubles typing on a touch screen except those few grammar errors. The htc touch pro 2 really got me with the tilting action which is great for videos but has no fm radio nor does it have 3.5mm so please give me some opinions
Simply answer Touch HD is better choice for hard keyboard haters like me... HTC is very smart company, they produces for different customer profiles
xperia and hd share the same hardware so its the same old story, you wont get a hyperfast machine if u aint into tweaking and possibly rom flashing (eg kwbr's topix unleashed is a really fast rom, and duttys 3.4)
for tp2, i would never ever use a device like ours without a 3.5mm jack
maybe it's personal view and getting used to it but i type on hd better than on iphone
Not sure if you have seen this but someone has posted a comparison of Blackstone and TP2 in the Rhodium Forums. For me personally I don't like the bulk of the Rhodium. It's about 30 grams heavier than a Blackstone and more than 50 grams heavier than a Topaz. Suppose it's good to have choice of different form factors though
Sorry... should of read before posting...
I am planning to sell my HTC Touch HD and hop on HTC Hero. Reasons are, I want to start using Android in my daily life ASAP, and the new HTC Sense is what I really need and wanted. Widgets, 7 window "pages", and the "scene" is also very useful feature.
On the other hand, I also think about keeping my HTC Touch HD, and wait until some Android comes on nVidia Tegra or 1ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon?
Well, discuss!
To be honest, I love the Touch HD (even after switching to the iPhone - and back) but the Hero looks really nice.
It's a bit less "professional" because of Android, but if you don't depend on features like full Exchange support or voice command, I'd say the Hero is clearly the best device on the market now (of course depending on your needs).
There are some phones with better hardware, like the Samsung i8910, but unfortunately, they run Symbian. The Hero has great hardware and great software, and both the hardware and the software are better than what Apple has to offer.
On the other hand, the HTC Leo/SuperStar should arrive within just a few months. Though the Hero is nice, it could be woth waiting (after all, the Touch HD is still a great device).
Same here !
I'm going to do the same. Android and Sense are the future of the HTC devices. I'm gonna miss my HD because of its gigantic display and resolution. If HD had a capacitive display, I would stick with it. I can admit that HD is the first device I loved using and it's mostly because of Dutty's lovely and fast roms. I have ordered my Hero and I will send some pictures of it as soon as I receive the phone.
By the way mates, is it true that the processor on Hero (and HTC Leo/SuperStar) is a dual core processor?
No, the Hero uses the same processor as the Touch HD, and the Leo/SuperStar will have the nVidia Tegra Chip (which is about twice as fast, in theory, and has great 3D and video acceleration - but I never found the Touch HD to be too slow).
It does look nice. I only hope it actually works like the movie I just downloaded from the HTC site. It's available in just about two weeks time in UK. Can anybody tell me how it would sync with PC or even better Mac? Is it Google sync only?

I think I found my answer here.
any idea what the German price will be? wanna buy it tax free and smuggle, lol
Hello, I've got some questions for blackstone's owners :
- Are you "happy" with this phone ?
- Is it missing something for you ?
- What the best for you ? A Blackstone or a HERO (android) ?
- Do you know if HTC will release an official Windows Mobile 6.5 for it ??
I'm thinking of changing my Nike, and the HD looks great.
Wait for the HD2
If there is one thing lacking in the original HD, its that the CPU just isn't fully suited to drive a large display like the HD has.
In the HD 2, the Snapdragon is used, which isn't only much faster frequency wise, its also a new generation of ARM which has more pipes and instructions.
Clock per clock the new ARM CPU's can be seen as anywhere between 2 and 4 times faster.
At a clockrate considerably higher then the HD's 500+ (snapdragon is 1Ghz), the performance difference will be immense.
Calculate into that that Windows Phone (6.5) is considerably faster on the HD then 6.1 and you'll have the HD2 being an absolute monster.
I'm very happy with my HD, I have full freedom to do with it what I want, I can use all the apps that I need and want and I still prefer a Windows Mobile phone over anything else, because it has so much history and apps that have been around for a long time.
I love the Hero, simply drool over the design, but its said to be slow, even with Android.
So if you want Android, wait for the Touch HD2's mirror set that runs android.
The HD is a year old device, so buying it now, might give you a nice price, but there is a new generation of hardware coming out now which is leaps and bounds ahead of everything even half a year ago.
The HD's hardware's basis is still the same as a TYTN2, the CPU is a bit faster but the display is much higher resolution.
Yeah I know about the HD2 ... but I don't want to buy a new one .
I'm looking for an used one, so cheaper ...
The HD2 will be to expessive for me !!
All these questions have been asked many times before. I see no need to ask again. We have threads on android, hd vs hd2, will hd get wm6.5, are you happy with hd etc etc etc
Please use the search function
so guys, its been announced....the hd2 has been shrunk down in size. what are your thoughts?, do you new hd2 owners wish you had waited a while longer or are you happy with your king sized phone?.personally, id have got the larger model anyway, after owning a hd2(original) id never , or at least hope i never have to downsize again.is this new smaller size aimed for the ladies....? lol
http://www.htc.com/uk/product/hdmini/overview.html
HD2 > HD Mini.
I would like a smaller HD2 though, with a 4-inch screen or something. Even 3.8-inch. Because using the HD2 with a single hand is a little bit to much work..
But the HD Mini goes TO far. 3.2 inch screen is to small.
it is not the same. slower cpu, less ram. what makes You think it's the same but smaller???
old news, I posted about this yesterday...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634015
like the look but the HD2 owns it!!!
and my big question with this is....
why id it called a touch "HD" mini when sht screen is far from HD...
i know some will read that wrong and say that the hd2 isnt 720p or 1080p HD and all that but i mean in the broadest terms..
High Defenition... is HVGA High Defenition? me thinks not lol.

I agree... less screen, less cpu, less RAM, less ROM, hd2 mini? more of a hd1 mini.....
Well, it is called HTC HD mini, not HTC HD2 mini ...
Never heard of a WinMo HVGA device before... is this new in 6.5.3? If so, what about app compatibility? How many apps work on this new resolution?
Why make an HD-mini, when it is not much different from the Diamond2?
HD-Mini: more memory, slightly faster processor.
Diamond2: Better screen resolution.
Found some interesting stuff here, for example it is running WinMo build 23101.
I like my hd2 very much, why make it mini.
For those who like mini, take a mini

What is the dude in the video even doing? I got so angry at him watching the first ~2 minutes that I just couldn't continue.
Noticed the start button is not present anymore.... (Since there is a start button and back already i assumed so no need to have them on the softkeys)only 2 softkeys on the taskbar each time... cleaner look i think. better than the 6.5.3 currently which would have 5 softkey biuttons most of the time... anybody know how we can do this???
hope i never have to downsize...but it seem the hd2 will be the last big phone..i hope not..
