Official patches from HTC - HD2 General

When HTC releases a patch for the HD2 are they cumlative or do you need to apply each patch sepratley?
Scott

Most of the time you have to install each one. If thats not the case its specifed in the description.

Thanks for that - I also enjoyed reading your HD2 review. I have been following this now since I started to sruface on the internet so long ago and have been reading all of the reveiws, both good and bad. I only have 12 days to go before I can upgrade and cannot wait!

O2 XDA website - major revamp

Just noticed that the O2 XDA website has under gone a major revamp. This probably explains the sites intermittant availability over the past couple of weeks. The new site looks very slick.
The old short cut for bypassing the IMEI check when downloading the latest ROM no longer works, so here is the new one

And here is the address for the MyXda website if you wanted to take a look.

Lets all keep our fingers crossed for a new ROM update very soon!

When is WM6 coming to the X7500?

does someone know when WM6 will be released for the X7500?
I'd like te know a date or something.
You took the time to make a new thread, so you know how to use search I'm sure.

Quite. Not the most auspicious start to membership of xda-developers.
hetallerbeste, may I suggest you read these two threads urgently:
Read me first (note there is also a Advantage wiki)
And don't forget to read me - all of the posts are relevant.
I think one irrelavent post pointing out the search and not answering his question is enough....
Hetallerbeaste no one knows when the WM6 update will be officially released its meant to be sometime in June/July probably expect July given
1. HTC's usual lateness with these things
2. The knowledge that the X7501, which comes loaded with WM6 goes on sale August, 1. Therfore theres the likelyhood that you'll see the ROM in that time frame.
Then again point 2 could be useless given that there are 4 upcoming WM6 roms likely to be launched at same time, but nevertheless June/July is about as close to a release date as there is.
HTC is already advertising with the X7501. It seems a matter of time before this is "leaked" to this forum.

Cheers
According to this (June 11, German language) news item, T-Mobile Austria confirmed WM6 updates in line for the Ameo (Athena/X7500), Vario II (Hermes) and Compact III (Artemis).
The ROMs are supposedly in testing now an "will be made available to customers within the next couple of weeks".
Whatever that means, if we allow up to 6 weeks of testing, the updates might indeed turn up by early August.

Any news on an official Ozone rom?

hello to everyone
It appears that Microsoft doesn't update their Windows mobile site with when phone updates will be available (it still says Last updated on October 08). Kind of careless from their part, since many wm 6.5 roms have sprung up since that date -including the rom for the HTC snap s511.
I have, however, not heard any news or updates anywhere on when a rom for the Ozone would be coming out. Ever since my phone got bricked last September I've been googling and searching everywhere (every day pretty much) on at least the smallest sign of getting the Ozone to be unbricked. (how unfortunate, my fourth Ozone got bricked on my birthday, lol)
Like some of you, I've had the whole hardspl installation running down, but since I have no sight there was no way of me verifying that I had hardspl or original SPL 0.39. You see, I saw that my fourth Ozone had 128 MB of ram and wanted to install the 6.1 rom provided here by Ookba, hoping that maybe with that I'd have 192 mb of ram instead of 128.
So my ozone has been bricked ever since then, and I dare not ask for a 5th one through Verizon...
Is there anything we as users can do to somehow find a solution to somehow getting bricked Ozones unbricked? I know the goldcard method is out of the question - that was already mentioned on another thread. Does anyone know when we can expect an official update? A pc Magazine article said Late October/early november at the latest, but sadly we're already approaching mid-november and still nothing.
with all due respect-
Tomi

A little input about the HD2

I have been following the HD2 for some time now and with my contract due for newel on the 21st of January I know what I want and where I am getting it from.
I have had a chance to play with it a bit but now am looking for a bit of feedback regarding the ROM Version - the ROM I saw on the deviced was 1.48 is this one past some of the problems I have been reading about - I know there are patches and I am fine to do them. I will be upgrading via Phones4u and hoping that I will not run in to some of the problems people are encountering with downloading the latest updates from HTC that need a SN - I will be on the Vodafone network.
Any heads up regarding this ROM and problems would be very helpfull..
Thanks
Scott
Well I got mine on Xmas day and it came with 1.48. Have not had a single problem with the rom so far.
I have been undertaking some careful setup, eg installing Memmaid to clear out memory and sort out lockups, then installing a whole host of tweaks either from the thread here and/or by using BSB Tweaks, a marvellous tool also found on here.
When installing software I have done this one at a time then made a backup of the device, ran the software to make sure everything is ok before moving on and repeating the steps.
Sounds tedious but this way ,if there is a ****-up, I can easily roll back to the previous working point with minimum hassle.
If you are happy with the device and the keyboard does not phase you then life's too short- go for it!
Bear in mind that in the worst case HTC should be bringing out a revised rom soon (he hopes).
Hope this is helpful.
WB
Thanks for the feedback. I am so going to have this phone next month and am liking the advice about installing and taking the time to get it right. I will look at the pieces of software you have mentioned. Really appreciate the input -
Like you I am hoping that HTC will be bringing out ROM updates regularly and soon - I have read about 2.1 version being tested in the states on T-Mobile lets hope that we will see that soon.
Have you applied any of the official HTC patches to date?
Scott
No not applied any of the patches as I have not experienced any of the problems that the patches are meant to solve.
I am using ROM version 1-48. I am a very strong believer in the maxim that if it ain't broke don't f****** fix it!
WB
Hi,
I think with any new device there will always be teething problems and from what I've read here; the HD2 is no exception.
This is my third HTC device and each one of them have had their own little idiosyncrasies. However most of these were not apparent to me until they were pointed out :/
The main reason why I have chosen to get another HTC is because of this site and others like it. As soon as a fault is found, there's usuallly a fix around the corner.
So, with regards to your question about the ROM 1.48, I wouldn't worry, as as soon as the HSPL (?) is released, you'll be able to flash whatever ROM the chef's cook up Also I think with SSPL you can install custom ROMs now.
This will be my first HTC device - I am looking forward to having a touch screen phone that is not an iphone. The HD2 looks to be the business.
I reckon I will be okay if I encounter any problems I know where my first port of call will be...I have already learned so much just trowling the forum.
What is HSPL?
I agree with wacky's thoughts about if is not broken
Thanks for your input.
Scott
re hspl, have a look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589642
hspl in a nutshell is a hack to allow you to install custom roms. they're almost got it ready for release. discussions about the hspl and speculation about its release can be quite entertaining.

Beta Test Software Expired?

Hey guys, I installed the energy rom on my HTC TOUCH HD months ago, and haven't really had any problems. Anyway, last week I got a warning that my trial will expire on May 1st. I didn't really think much of it, but at May 1st, my phone just says I need to visit the website I got my trial release form and get the latest version.
Anyway, I'm asking what I have to do? Should I just install a new ROM? If I do, I've been looking around and the Android rom looks appealiong, but I was just wondering if anyone could offer me the best rom that won't expire that just makes my HTC TOUCH HD damn amazing and easy to use?
Thanks alot!!
