Bad GPS Chip? - Mogul, XV6800 General

I'm using sprint mogul with Radio 3.42.50 from alltel and trying to lock my location using Holux GPS Viewer. In the open area my mogul catch 9 satellites. But, after a few minutes, the satellites are dissapeared and I can't use my GPS without rebooting my mogul.
Is my GPS chip bad? Or should I use QPST to enable the GPS?

I bet you have your gps settings in registry and agps in qpst wrong.

i refer to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363431
but i found different entry in my mogul's registry:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active\36]
"Hnd"=dword:0005AFF0
"Name"="COM9:"
"Key"="Drivers\\BuiltIn\\VirtCOM_COM9"
"BusParent"=dword:00032390

my mogul:

and the rest of the registry are the same.
btw. i'm using nueKernel-3.0.1 high mem (camera disabled).

i follow this instruction http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36377

I don't know where to start then. Maybe try a hard reset and then start over with your settings.

after reflashed the rom, the gps works great with navitel. thanks a lot.

Hey Folks,
No idea if this has already been brought up yet (since you cant search *,#,etc!)
But I found this whilst rummaging through the registry.
*#*#364#*#*
(Located in HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\EngineerMode you may ned to set "BuildInEngineeringModeApp" to 1 first)
I look forward to finding more stuff on my new wizard

Maybe this will get added to the wiki.

All that key sequence does is launch a program; GSMTestMode.exe
it's in the \Windows\ folder. You can launch it right from there.
What's GSMTestMode.exe? Does it run on the Blue Angel? Is it worth having (show more detailed signal strength for network testing or something)?
Just a bunch of useless mumbo jumbo IMO

Is there a version of this that works with the Blue Angel radio?
Sometimes, some of this is useful (there was a version that I had on an old Nokia with similar information). Stuff such as knowing whether you can access the same network cell in different places, getting the exact signal strength (eg. for testing which network you should go with when choosing a new flat), Network Operator IDs (rather than just the name) etc.
I would assume that this sort of program would be specific to the radio hardware, wouldn't it?

If so you need to use kulubt0r patch to make it work.

Stand-alone GPS status display?

OK, now I know that the GPS is software driven - i.e. you cannot manually turn it on or off. However, is there a package that will activate the GPS on the phone, and show a status display of the satellite constellation and how well or poorly the receiver is picking them up?
I'd grab SiRFtech, but the phone uses the Qualcom chipset, not the SiRF III chipset

there are tons of gps utils... for fast switching gps on and get fix search for the small prog "GPS test" i´m running version 1.04 don´t know if thats the latest
apps
well, even if it is from SirfTech, all GPSs support the NMEA protocol. if the app you showed also supports NMEA, then this is fine.
I normally use CruxView (attached), which is also quite simple, has some nice functions (+a dedicated SiRF section, which I'm not touching )
/edit: I guess your app supports NMEA - at least I see it listed in the menubar!
Thanks folks Much appreciated Should make figuring out what's wrong with the GPS on my TP2 a little easier - takes forever to get a lock, and even then bounces in and out like a chicken on a bungee rope on acid - and it only started doing that this week, three weeks after obtaining the phone, no less!
gps is a miracle
never got it to work right...never more than 3 sats outside on both kaiser and rhodium, inside no chance!
a week ago i installed gps test and navigon and i got best gps, fast fix and can navigate through my house!

[Q] Is there a GPS Hardware fix for spica?

So i read the 'CORRECT Hardware GPS Fix' for samsung SGS, and i thought: This should be possible for the spica as well..
The SGS contact:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Considering that the gps contact on SGS looks the same as on the spica, it should work just bending it.. I've tried gently bending it up just a bit, with no progress. I'm thinking of opening up the spica bad boy again and bend it up some more.
Has anyone else tried this? Does anyone know if this is possible?
Unfortunately GPS behaviour on Spica is related with baseband and rild libs (mostly libsec-ril.so), for some combos of baseband and libsec-ril GPS works fine, for some it barely works.
I didn't try hardware fixes, but XXIL2 baseband with XXJF2 libsec-ril.so makes GPS working fine (up to 8 sattelites fixed, fix time under 1 minute without clear sky)
Thanks gen_scheisskopf,
So basically, i should re-flash my phone to XXIL2 baseband and use the libsec-ril.so (which u put in system\lib, right?)
EDIT: Ah ok i noticed there's a zip file which u install in recovery mode after you've flashed the phone to the correct baseband version.
thx,

I can't say if xxil2 baseband will work for you for sure, be prepared to experiment with others also.
Look at here : forum.samdroid.net/f28/working-gps-finally-we-have-2-1-2-2-a-3880/
I tried it and it's working!

DVP ECompass App (Working) - Updated 2/15/2011

DVP indeed has a ECompass App. I will try to extract it and wrap in a new App.
Edit:
Finally cracked open DVP's native COM (OurCOM.dll) and got the DVP Compass app working.
Can't tell if the Compass is showing the right magnetic north (same was the case with the stock Compass app also) - atleast i got it working.
Here is the linky to the App (XDA WP7 Hacking Dev forum)

Just wanted to say thank you for all the great work you are doing. I'm excited to see how this one turns out!
how did you find it? THis was be used as an exploit to hack the dell venue pro.
I say, post this in the windows phone development forums and maybe a developer can use this information!
Hack on!
Its in the MFCTest app within EM. Once i have a working app, i will post it in WP7 dev forum.
where is the MFCTest ? is the built in or seperate?
