(2) install icon changer app, JWMD or CSMI, search for them here.
"\Windows\ManilaShortcut.exe" people/browserlayer/peopleAll
that s the content of the people shortcut.

I'm trying to figure out how to assign icons back to file types from the default program used.
As you can see in the first image, the icons are blank for my .jpg files. Currently, SPB Imageer is the app that opens it by default. For some reason, I dont know how, but the icons change to the blank ones.
In the second image, the address bar shows the key in the registry to change the default icon image for jpg files.
The third image shows the string. What number do I put to use the Imageer icon for jpg files or any other app that you may want. That number you see was put by me and it does not work.
Other apps use different numbers for there own icons for the file types that they are associated with. Some examples are: Opera uses -131, TCPMP uses -1000, WMplayer uses -2002, Word uses -13072, PowerPoint uses -200
How do I find out the number??
Try the Pike Icon editor. I forgot where I got it, and couldn't figure it out after I had it installed. Maybe if you try this and are able to do something with it,you can help me. I know it's a cab file unzipped from a zip file.Cingular 8125ROM 2.25.11.1

You can use Total Commander to copy any .lnk file to a temporary folder, edit the name of the link to "anythingyoulike.lnk"
After that, you can use a file editor (Total commander has one) to edit the content of the .lnk to show 21#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,10 and save.
Move the link to the place you want it to show: tray, drop down menu or using a software to show application on Today screen.
All the best.
1. copy the string between the dotted lines (not including the lines) to your notepad
2. save it as Remove Programs.lnk
3. move the link to your ppc-- windows\Start Menu\Program Files
--------------------------------
ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,10?shellres.dll,-13943
--------------------------------
Note:
1. by doing this, you'll have a shortcut with the native icon for Remove Programs
2. try "shortcut creator" if you prefer some other icons
Thanks Guys.
Thank you wovens and iiiox, it was a combination of you both that helped me. 21#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,10?shellres.dll,-13943 is the string that worked for me. I'm happy now, although I got a basic icon and not the custom one I thought I was gonna have. Check out the pics of the 2 icons below. I must have the 'remove programs' icon next to 'file manager'. It's like addition and subtraction. I never could find the original ink file using Activesync. I just ended up editing another ink with total commander. Is there anyway to change the icon?
The part ?shellres.dll,-13943 tells it the icon to use. Most likely the one you show is actually a png image that is used by the new start menu system for icons.
You can use other programs icons as in ?\windows\myprogram.exe,23 would use the icon numbered 23 in you program called myprogram.exe
I have heard of people creating their own dll files to contain icons they want.

I'm using Energy rom so I figured it was part of it's customization. I'm not sure I understand the example you have given, but I have tried unsuccessfully to locate the wanted icon. Also, I'm clueless about creating dll. Thanks anyway RoryB. Maybe if I stare at it long enough, it will start to make sense to me.
didn't work for me plz help
Hi,
I am currently working on customizing my Cube to show my icons and programs.
I didn't want to overwrite the existing AL files, so I have put the custom files into: \My Documents\My Pictures\Cubeicons\Operamini_bottom.brn
but when I link to this in IconPath the cube is simply black at this icon?!
After one time usage, it shows the highlighted icon the whole time?!

To my knowledge, on the Nike (Dual) all icons have to be in \Windows\ - unless somebody has yet found a way of moving them and changing the default path? (please let me know if so!)
So, to solve your problem...
1. Copy your file into \Windows\, but call it something new so you don't have to overwrite any existing file.
2. Use the newest beta of Touch Settings (v2.12pre onwards) to change the icons - please see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324556
.....if you want to change the MediaHub (3 app side) icons, at the moment you'll need to use the 'Advanced' tab and enter the full path manually.
hope this helps
Carlos
Thanks,
I have managed to overwrite existing files, so I do have my icons.
but changing all the animation screens, is a lot of work!
Hi there,
I have now a lot of Icons put together in start menu without any logic...
My aim is to reorganize and create some folders like some other roms I saw in here, hopefully with some eye candy icons (like the original ones...).
By now I only could create a folder using Total commander, but I don't know how to assign an icon.
P.S.: For a stupid error I deleted tre shortcuts I think... (HTC_Calendar.ink HTC_People.ink HTC_Music.ink)... Is it possible to restore them someway?
Thanks!

Yes just change the reg key here from 0 to 1 and soft reset it should recreate them.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"IsShortcutEnable"=dword:1

You can make new folders. And with a program Restart (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=481379) or JWMD Icon Changer (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567080). On this moment i use the icons from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591248 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603496. When i was done with the icons. I make a backup of the registry key key1=HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\. So after a new rom i only copy the icons to root and import registry key and everything is done
Hello!
I am returning to Windows Mobile from Android. I purchased a T-Mobile Dash 3G, and am liking it so far, however I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to remove a lot of the applications from the start menu because they're really cluttering things and I want them gone. I can't access them through the File Explorer. When I find something, for example TeleNav, that I want to delete, the option to delete it is grayed out.
If anyone knows of a tweak, a hack, or a .cab I need to install to get this done, I would be GREATLY apprecative!
Have an awesome day!
here is the app called totalcommander download it install from phone. then you can go into the windows folder and then go into the start menu folder and from there you can create new folders to uncluter or delete what you dont want.
You can remove elements in Windows/Start Menu
You can also make folders and sub-categorize items to make the start menu clutter free.
The file explorer all ready on your device will support this.
You can change the start menu order using a registry editor and editing HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shell\StartMenu\Order
can i change the folder icon?
