Task Killer acting buggy - Nexus One General

Well I love my Nexus One, but been having issues with Task Killer. I have the widget on my screen, and when i kill all the tasks, it resorts me back to the phone call screen. And if i use a different live wallpaper, it resorts back to the Nexus wallpaper.
Is this normal, also has anybody's gotten a little sluggish after extensive use? I restarted it, and during the boot screen, the animated Nexus logo should flow smoothly, but at first it was jerky then it ran smooth and went to my home screen.

i get that too, though not so extensive with the live wallpaper mess.

Same here using advanced task manager

I think you can put the LAUNCHER on the ignore list, and that will solve the problem.

This gets rid of the annoying phone call screen . And to OP to stop your live wallpaper from closing/changing just exclude
"live wallpaper" and "android live wallpaper"closing .

My vote is not to kill your apps all the time, the phone wasn't designed to run that way. But, to each their own.

I was trying the regular Task Killer (not Advanced) early on and it was as buggy as a rain forest. I uninstalled it, since I really don't need to kill anything with this OS!

Stability of Nexus Launcher/Launcher2

Hi all. I've just been wondering... has anyone else besides me ran into countless problems using the Nexus Launcher/Launcher2 on their phone? I'm running Fresh 2.0d with the included .apk, and here are some bugs I've found:
Unresponsiveness
Screen turns black and stays black requiring a battery pull
Launcher will launch without displaying icons in the menu
Now, it is not only Flipz's ROM that has these problems either... it is EVERY ROM I've tried. I'm sure most of you will tell me to use Helix Launcher. I have tried it, but it doesn't have the same feel that the Nexus Launcher has.
Has anyone found a fix for these stability issues? If not, I'd like to start a project so we can get this working, because I'm sure it's completely possible. After all, Flipz was able to get the 2.1 lockscreen working!

I am running fresh2.0d and stock screen turns black and needs battery pull when I use camera app and hit back button or any button.
Launcher has been pretty responsive except here and there....
I do get to the mode where no icons on home screen for few seconds at times but it recovers pretty soon....
As far as the lock screen, I ran in to an issue while my corporate policy forced me to assign lock/unlock password! Soon I enable password and lock, phone stops responding!!! I have to either pull the battery or issue reboot command via prompt!!!
I hope this helps.... I am not a developer though....
I have been disappointed by the nexus launcher's performance as well.
The black screen requiring a reboot (or if you hold home and happen to have settings in the app switch menu you can force kill it and restart it) is a common occurrence with seemingly no pattern. Sometimes it after a long browsing session, other times its happens after deleting a single e-mail message and returning to the main screen. The only consistent way to make it happen is to hit back after launching camera from the app drawer.
Ive also noticed in every rom with launcher, that when coming out of the launch screen the app shortcuts and widgets on the home screen don't load instantly. Almost as if the launcher was killed while it was asleep and when unlocking it, it is reloaded.
It's disappointing because as you said, while helixlauncher is an OK alternative, nothing else has quite the same feel as nexus launcher. Unfortunately I think it will take a good bit of modification to make it a perfect match with the hero and I have absolutely 0 idea where to even begin .
Flipz, if you ever read this, could you offer some insight on this? You've worked your magic on the 2.1 lockscreen
The only rom i had it running great on was Darchlegend v4.1 i think it was, i finally said forget it and started using helix
Every one i have tried has been buggy as well. Things mught improve once we get the hero 2.1 source. Or once google decouples them.

Weather Animation Lag

Is any body else experiencing lag for their weather animation on the Home tab? I don't have this problem on my Weather tab, it looks great. Only when in my home tab, it looks like it runs smooth for half the time, then it gets really chopppy and slow.
I've already tried messing with my shortcuts, and removing my sd card, but those aren't the problems. I also have BSB Tweaks installed, and tried disabling the power saver option, but that didn't do anything either.
Mine does that as well sometimes, not always.
You could try disabling "V-Sync" on the device. Or instead of having the HTC Sense userinterface allocate resources "as needed", you could increase the minimum and maximum amount of resources it is always guaranteed to be utilizing at any given time.
Try searching the forums for those minor registry tweaks and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Just did a hard reset, that seemed to do the trick. Also using a 8GB class 6 SD card now, with not too much performance increase. May go back to the stock 16GB class 2 card for more storage.
check ur task manager.
you could be using up too much memory. if you have applications running in the background when the home screen weather animation is loading it could slow it down.
i noticed this with my touch pro 2 as well.
I have noticed the HD2 is lagging terrible when The wifi is trying to connect or the data connection changes. When the signal changes it even lags the device. I am not sure if this is a radio problem or what because all roms so far have this issue
Any updates on this issue?
I've discovered that when I hard reset my HD2, it turns out pretty nice. No lag at all, clouds and screenwipers really smooth =)
But then the breaking point, I install the cookie's tabs, it installs .net framework, immediately the weather animations start to lag..
I don't wanna uninstall the cookies tab (and .net) because I'm using pretty much every application from those quick links. the winter is coming, I wanna enable the weather animations, but I can't do it right now because it's too irritating and slowing the quick link screen changes. they become laggy too.
oops.. just came here with google search and didn't notice that its t-mobile thread. hope it's not a problem.
So far,
I've done every performance trick mention in these forums, but nothing has changed.
This thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629388
has specific tweaks supposed to increase the performance but no, nothing has changed. VSync is disabled, SENSE memory is increased, but still lagging in the weather application.
Should I just switch to a custom ROM? Makes me think that this'll not solve it since it was running just fine before .net 3.5 as I mentioned before.
Weather is annoying me now because it refuses to update. When I click "update now", the little arrow moves in a circle for a few minutes then nothing changes. It's been doing this since I had my stock 2.13 ROM...I did a Task 29, hard reset, formatted my class 6 SD card, and installed Spike's ROM and it still does the same damn thing...
If I disable phone altogether and turn on WiFi, it will update.
How can I just disable Weather altogether on my home screen without disabling Sense?
Oh yeah, and the stuttering does seem to be related to the data connection trying to sync after coming out of sleep...
You could try installing Cookies Home Tab and using the editor to turn off the animations all together. As far as I know you can't "uninstall" weather from the home tab, but you can turn the animations off and just make it a static image.

Slide to the weather tab tap menu/settings and uncheck update.
hi,
I just figure out the BSB tweaks make animation lag, (since Im new user to HD2) I notice it after installation yesterday, right know after uninstalling the bsb tweak, the cloud motion is not lag anymore....
im on duttylacreme
That annoyed the crap out of me also. When I flashed a new rom it smoothed out. I get stutters when I turn the screen on and it immediately does a check to update the weather, but every other time it's smooth. I'm on miri and dinik's anastasia one from the non tmous roms page. It also fixed any sms lag I had too, if you're experiencing that.
So there's no way to remove the weather app from the phone?

I suppose if you're using cookies home editor you could choose a different weather app to associate with the weather tab of sense and that would not update unless you chose it manually.
you do not need to install or tweak anything to turn the animation from the home screen off, simply select animated wallpaper and choose any wallpaper you want from your sd card or device just as if you were choosing a weather wallpaper

touch scrolling

Hi,
I noticed that there is a slight delay when I scroll down a web page or the application menu. I have the impression that the display isn't as fluid as the iPhone to my girlfriend. Another comparaison than i saw, is on the locking screen, when i unlock the phone the little triangle isn't really smooth if i compare to the iphone. It's like if the refresh rate of the screen was too low.. I wanna know if i'm the only one to have this issue..
X10 for the win!
iPhone runs only one app at a time.
while this phone can run tens of apps.
maybe too many apps are running in your background
try using 'Advanced task killer' to kill all unused apps.
my phone runs as fast as iphone for the features u mentioned..no lagging whatsoever.
I'm using this app, that's not a lag like if the phone had too many apps running..
I installed hardware info app on the market and I have noticed something strange. Under Display, Size=320x569. The screen resolution is not supposed to be 480x854 ?
In others words, when I scroll down/up/right/left (anywhere) the phone has a little delay to scroll...
The scrolling on browser was smooth. Maybe its a heavy page.
About the lockscreen its natural IMO because if we make our phone sleep/standy or screen off. The apps that runs lockscreen etc is idle and like also turn off to make battery life efficient. So its natural that the lockscreen is too lag a bit moment as it refreshes from being idle to being used. It begins loading up

Android quick access menu and running apps

This question is regarding the quick access menu for recently used apps (next to home icon) and running apps. Ive noticed that i use the tablet you can browse quickly and switch to recent apps you have open. Im just wondering how this works with regards to process management and memory. How do you actually close an app like Market Place or gmail? Does android do this automatically? IVe noticed the tablet can slow sometimes..
"Backing" out of an app closes it for the most part.
The TouchWiz update actually includes a task manager, so you can kill apps. But that generally only occurs if you use the Home key to switch apps or something.
i have heard people say they would like to see a feature added that closes apps if you swipe them off to the side from the multitasking bar (the list off icons that expands from the homescreen). I would love to see that.
But as far as the android team is concerned they say "we programmed android to manage memory and tasks so well that you should never interfere or over ride how its being managed". I personally don't buy it. I mean maybe its true but I should still have the ability to close things I don't want open (in an easy way).

That is how all tablets should be, the Blackberry Playbook has this feature and I believe it is one of the best Tablet OS's out right now. Swipe up and down to minimize and maximize screens and when you have your open apps screen up you can swipe a small window of that app off of the screen into oblivion which closes it. QNX OS on the Playbook is very very good, problem is the screen size and its from RIM, they really need to step up there game. If they would release the Android App Player for the Playbook it would be so much better.

Live Wallpaper Delaying Screen Shut-Off?

play dot google dot com /store/apps/details?id=com.maxelus.freshleaveslivewallpaper
(Sorry, I can't post links yet!)
Could I ask a few of you guys do me a favor and try testing out some live wallpapers for me? I installed this live wallpaper and loved the way that it looked. The only problem I was having with it, was that whenever I power off my screen while at the home screen, the system hangs and the screen does not immediately shut off. Sometimes it can take as long as 30 seconds for the screen to shut down.
Initially I was using the stripped Verizon ROM and figured it could have something to do with that, so I went back to full stock and it was still doing the same thing. It's not just that live wallpaper either. Using just about any live wallpaper that is a little graphics intensive causes the issue. I have my screen locked with a pattern, but I doubt that has anything to do with it. If I use a normal wallpaper, the problem does not occur, just live wallpaper.
I don't know exactly what could be causing it or if the phone is just that way by design. I have that same live wallpaper installed on my Dinc and the issue is non-existent. It's not really a big deal, as I have some pretty sweet wallpaper pictures. But the animated leaves look sooooo good.
