How does this work? Are the high res photos the ones from Facebook or are they from Google Profile/Contact data? AFAIK, the size of Google Profile/Contact photos hasn't changed.
I need to know this because I still get Lego pictures, whether it's from my custom image or from facebook
If you take a picture with the camera, then set it, it seems to be pretty damn good to me. Not as good as the original photo, but good none the less.
So wtf is the OP talking about? He just posted a random statement without ANY info... way to go chief.
It's on Google contacts.
I have uploaded high quality images to my favourite contacts.
The quality is far better than stock or assigning pics from the phone.

Stock what? I've always done it via gmail contacts.
Ah... finally saw how you guys were doing it through Gmail contacts. I like the pic synching with Facebook though... so I'll stick with that for now.

Aha, that may be me then.
I've always assigned my pics from the phone with pictures in my gallery.
It may make a difference.

Select a contact in Gmail, then notice when you mouse over the "blank" picture on the right, it says you can click to change the contact pic.
That will be static and will stay that way till you change it...even across system wipes and phones... but won't update with Facebook like it does now.

Okay so could someone help me.
Link a contact with their facebook - BUT their picture doesn't come up - well only three of my contacts have. Also on the long list of facebook contacts when you click link with profile, barely any of the pictures load up even when I press refresh/update... any ideas?
Also their statuses never pop up?
Am I missing something??

I've had this before. Are you using data or wifi? Sometimes it waits for all the contact pictures to be downloaded in the background, I had that with my Hero and then it worked fine.
What I did was just link them all, then leave it for a while, say an hour or so.
I also did mine initially on wifi to get them downloaded quicker. All ok on data too though.
Not much help, but it should just be a waiting game tbh
I hope this is not a noob question, but if it is I'm sorry and this is my first Android phone. Does anyone else notice that the contact pictures on the Evo are extremely grainy and compressed. I even changed one of the pictures manually, and it was fine initially but became highly compressed again. Is there a way to fix this please. Thanks

I noticed this too. The pictures it pulls from my facebook contacts look great, but the ones from any other contact doesn't.
I have not noticed. My pictures are just like I took them or uploaded them.
I usually don't edit contact pictures like I would with my photographs that I take.

It does the same for all my pictures, even the ones pulled from Facebook. Is there any setting that needs to be changed for it to straighten out cause its really annoying.

They were grainy for me at first, but after I sycned them to facebook, they looked great.
There was an issue with Exchange servers doing something to contact pictures. I don't use Exchange mail, so I haven't seen it.
The photos should be the same.
If you add a photo manually to a contact in Google, it should synch that photo to the phone as well.
I had this problem when I first synced Facebook with my contacts. The pictures were extremely blocky and low res.
Eventually it got better. Not sure how it happened, maybe a reboot or it finished syncing. No idea, glad it got there though.
Well lets hope mine eventually fixes itself..fingers crossed

I had the same problem, I was linked to Gmail for syncing and Google compresses the pics wile syncing them back to evo. I change the pics on evo it’s good for few seconds and then back to grainy sync from Google. Google is been working on a fix, they have been aware of this problem for some time.
I turned off contact sync option, now calendar syncs ok without fuzzy pics
I have a Vibrant and a G2, when I linked the facebook profile to the contact in the G2, when you click on that friends picture it gives you the option to dial them, text them, go to the contact, or go to their facebook page. When I link the accounts on the vibrant it does not give me this option, is there any way to turn this on? I am talking about the little popup that shows up when you click on the persons picture. The accounts are obviously linked together because the pics are being pulled from their facebook pages.
mmm... i want this too!
::bump::

yeah i see that, i just rather go to their fb page then through there
Vibrant will probably never get it cause Facebook app only seems to recognize that feature for the stock Android Contact app. It doesn't work on HTC's contacts app or Samsungs, so i'm guessing it probably doesn't work on Moto's custom app either.
Little stuff like this is why I like stock Android and probably just gonna switch to the G2 even though I love the Vibrants screen.
To be clear though, this is not Samsung's fault. Facebook app is a horrible coded piece of garbage. Twitter app has no problem working with the contract pop up box on any phone, yet Facebook does. They seriously need to put more effort into their Android app.

Agreed.. compared to the iPhone version, Android version definitely needs to be improved. I just don't get why they would make a update to the Facebook app and not update it more often. It's so pathetic that the notifications open in the browser rather than the native app /facepalm
I too hate the facebook app, my iphone facebook app in mid 09 was 10x better then what I have now
Hey!
I get many of my contact pictures from Facebook via SyncMyPix or I just use photos Iäve taken with the camera.
First, the quality of the photos are great, top notch an everything, BUT, I sync my contacts with Google and it looks like Google makes my contactphotos look like ****e when they get synced...
Is there any way to leave out photosync or something? I want my contact pictures to look good ;(

this happens because google saves the contact image in a smaller size to use less space, and no matter what's the resolution on the display pic, after restoring the contacts from google, you'll end up with those crappy images.
the only solution i have found to be working is, you need to sync your contacts with facebook and Facebook with HTC Sense, both and then use the display image that's synced with Facebook with HTC Sense
Here's How : After syncing your contacts, when you edit your contact, Tap on the display image and set the one that's from Facebook with HTC Sense. This displays the image in its proper resolution.
hope this helps.
If I use pics from my phone, I just click edit and click on the pic and choose phone.this will make the pic look great.the first time you sync it might change so do the same steps I mentioned above and you'll get great pics for your contacts

Well I got my S10+ all set up. Tried to use Sync me. Now it's saying Facebook and Instagram no longer supported. Tried Cosy based on recommendations. Don't like it at all. Even though it Sync the contacts it gives very low resolution images. After increasing it to 1080 it still drops back to low resolution. Please tell me there is app out there that actually works.

I thought they had dropped FB support? It says so in the developer replies to user reviews on the play store.
