Hello folks,
I have searched all over the net but found nothing about if the HD will support multitouch with Windows Mobile 7 OS installed. So what do you think, does someone knows anything ?

No as the HD doesn't have a capacitive screen like the HD2

LOL, ok, but..... a capacitance screen (mulit-touch) enables WM7 to do extraordinary things. If we expect this OS to be special, then one has to understand the drawbacks are the lesser of the 2 evils.
the Blackstone has no multitouch hardware. Simple as that.
WM7 is software that supports multitouch if available, that's one of the reasons that the HD2 (Leo) will get an update from WM6.5 to WM7 as one of the only HTC's currently available.

I will buy this phone when an Ocarina App is avialable with multi tuch.
like the Iphone it should be simalar apps for the HD2,
Either someone start making some apps Now or create a program that can run all the iphone apps on HD2. That way everyone will be happy
Please... Can someone create an app like Ocarina.

Thank you so much in advance.
It's not so easy. Leo does not have real multi touch. WM does not support any API for that. Leo only has single touch with pinch zoom, and that's it.
Nothing like spending $800-900 for a phone just to play with a crappy flute app.
...are you sure you're in the right forum? Apple is that way ------>

Leo DOES have multi-touch.
It's nothing to do with the phone. As you state yourself "WM does not support any API for that." That is correct. Once that issue is resolved, there will be true multi-touch apps.
Like you, I'm waiting for this kind of applications for HD2, too. Can't wait to load someting similar (or exactly the same!) to iPhone's Bebot Robot Synth. Check out Jordan Rudess' videos at Youtube (keyboard player of Dream Theater).

It is different then G-sensor or compass .. because those are used in HTC applications and you can use HTC's DLL to work with that. No HTC application supports real multitouch at the moment. Until some does, I'm rather skeptical about such API.

If the hardware can do it, then the software can do it. It simply means that no-one has developed something yet.
Since the HD2 is the hardware, to state that the HD2 is not true multi-touch is incorrect. That's all I'm saying.
I don't see what this debate about not having a multitouch api and needing to use HTC DLLs is about. The ability to build multitouch applications for Leo came quite a while ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591698
Two-fingered drawing... means that the device can plot two points at once and not just the distance between them. And there's the demo source in the link.

That's not full multi-touch. It's dual-touch. FULL multi-touch can detect more than 2 presses at the same time. That's what we've been discussing.
No multitouch
Do you know wtf you are taliking about?
Do you even have a Leo?

There have always been crappy apps for WM, but I avoid them, as, I avoided iphone.
If iphone could multitask, you would be in real trouble running a dozen crappy apps. You would have to be constanly doing apple software conflict resolution.

Bad news for the HTC HD2 owners: your beloved WinMo smartphones does not qualify for a Windows Phone 7 upgrade. The reason is more than ridiculous but you can't do anything to change the situation: the HD2 packs five hardware buttons instead of only 3.

not true a big misleading fact or confused fact..
requirement is of 3 navigation buttons winlogo start, back and search. ur common send and end buttions doesnt count.
HD2 also has 3 navigation buttons but instead of search it has home. and thats the problem.
very similar to what 6.5 done to HD as it didnt had logo start but diamond2 has that and got official 6.5.
hope ppl understand now.
I'll have to disagree that the HD2's buttons is a "problem". Microsoft's excuse is pretty lame. What's so hard about remapping the home button to search ?
Buttons in WM are all mappable via software or firmware. At this point,MS is just being non-committal, and hope that HD2 users will upgrade to new WM7 phones.
Well, I think MS is making a mistake. HD2 users will have no incentive to remain with WM if they have to ditch their HD2 to buy a new phone. They could easily jump to Android, or iPhone.

oh i just posted ...oops
This is really old news and I'm not saying it's wrong, but I'm not saying it's right. Although there might not be an official update for hd2 from htc or your carrier, changing the mapping of 3 buttons to support an os is not the hardest thing in the world. Also, Win7 has been seen running on HD2 at Barcelona, so if they could do it, I'm positive xda will have no problem.
Andy why is this in the HD forum and not HD2?
Hi All
There is a rom for the HD Mini allready in the HD Mini section! Can someone get the dialer out of it and port it WVGA? And anything else you find interesting in it!

Unfortunately the rom that is available at this moment doesn't run WM 6.5.3 but WM 6.5 (build 21613)
This is cruel!
Oh well... I guess that we will have to wait a little longer for it! Thanks for the info anyway. BTW Can someone tell me an alternative dialer app that is good to be used? I've been searching for a long time but I can't find anything that I like enough!

Don't you like the current dialer? If you are looking for a fix of the button-overlap problem, I don't think that this will be fixed by a port of the Mini dialer anyway. I think that this will be solved by the new lay-out of the bottom-bar (toolbar) of the Mini.

Hi Russell, thanks for your email.
I do not know where these network assistants got this information as it is not correct. The official answer is that "We are working closely with Microsoft on Windows Phone 7 Series and look forward to releasing new handsets which will use the new OS." reading between the lines, it would seem therefore that the answer would be no.
There are many reasons for this, not least Steve Ballmers announcement that "no current handsets will be upgraded", Also 7 Series is NOT an upgrade to 6.5. Microsoft is releasing it as a totally new and separate OS from the exisiting Windows Mobile versions. 6.5 will continue to be developed, even after 7 will be available, to offer two different OS versions for different needs. 6.5 will remain more business orientated, and for devices with OS skins on them (Like the HD2 which uses our Sense skin), and 7 Series for new, more media and social based handsets, which will not be skinned.
Therefore, I can only recommend that if you specifically want 7, you will need to wait for it to be available on new handsets If the HD2 meets your needs, then i would consider buying it anyway, as the 6.5.x software will continue to be developed even after 7 is released.
Best regards,
Pete W

This dll/library is to add multitouch support to an alrdy compile software for the hd2, the hd2 is the only device in the current WM market to have a capacitive screen which supports multitouch input.

That is interesting indeed. Can someone make a simple app to try this out on? See if it's a practical solution? I haven't done any programming in years so it would probably take me weeks to do myself.
Any method can install WP7 for HTC HD mini?
Thanks!
Here's the ROM.
http://rs561.rapidshare.com/files/387471275/Mondimg_WP7.rar
I haven't tested it myself as my Photon has not arrived yet, so you may need to make some adjustments, but generally it should work. At least, it works on HTC Mondrian.
is this workin' on hd mini?
at least WM7S requires ARMV7 processor, while MSM7227 is ARMV6.

Did this work?
I dont really think mounting WM7 on a mobile made for WM6, as we all know windows is kind of OS which demands more memory and lot of hardware features for its newer versions, though HTC got 600MHZ processor i think it is suitable for WM6. I was really thrilled ot get a windows mobile before i bought my HD mini, however now i regeret for not going with Android! atleast for the apps that doesnot support windows like google mobile navigation i should have gone with Android! anyway i still love my mini
