A few days ago something weird happened... I got up in the morning and when I checked my phone it was at the point of the HardReset when it asks the user to tap the screen to align it. I didn't ask for that hard reset. What could be the problem?

Not sure to be honest. Some issues which appear with the HD can be rectified by flashing back to a stock rom then reflashing custom rom again
I've been having the same problem...found a few others who have also......if anyone has a solution please let us all know.

The Solution already mentioned by Fallan is to Flash a stock ROM is the simpliest way. Another option is to use mtty which is the fastest way however, can be less safe for noobs.

Problem: after doing an ipl/spl "upgrade" from 'forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=301572&highlight=prophet+radio+rom%3B' (DO NOT USE !!!!) i noticed i could not connect via activesync any more. after reading more on that post i found out that the ipl/spl package is crap (prophet thinks he is a charmer). i found another ipl/spl package as .nbf file and thought i could simply change the nbf file in this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=40902&d=1181200684) from this site - down (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Prophet) and run the update and it would work. nbf file i took from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300798&highlight=IPL_SPL_3.08.rar) - G3. I have a G3 device.
The problem now is that my prophet won't even boot into bootloader mode. as in it is REALLY bricked.
It keeps resetting itself (both leds + screen turn on for under a second and after a second again and again and again)
anybody have any suggestions ?
Next time just buy a phone and then don't mess around with it.
anybody else have any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism ?
anyways, i'll try this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=292667). hope it works.
still open to suggestions though
Ye sorry. Any news if youve got it working again? Im scared to upgrade my prophet due to stories like yours.

When I was setting up the WM6 release on my Blue Angel (SX66), I entered a pin (1994) for the device. I reset the device, and it gave me a dialog that said "Password" as the header, and the box had "Emergency phone calls can be made." It also had a keypad with CLR and 0 as the bottom row. The bottom buttons are Unlock and Menu. The password 1994 when typed in doesn't work. It gives me my hint, but the password still doesn't work. I've hard reset it to no avail. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
try to hard reset first (how to?) the information can be found at the wiki, use the search link at the web.. good luck

I've tried hard reset, it didn't work. I'm just going to re-flash the ROM.
hard reset should work. did you perform the no/yes/yes routine (part of the hard reset procedure)?
Got it working - turned out I just needed to perform the N/y/y procedure - thanks everyone!

In WM5/WM6 the N/Y/Y procedure is the actual hard reset in WM2003 it is Power+Reset buttons at the same time

I have the same problem WM6) on the Siemens SX66 from Cingular, how do I execute the n/y/y procedure ???
HARDRESET 101
Steps...
1. SoftReset
2. When the three color stripes(four including white) appear QUICKLY press and hold Record and Camera button.
3. If a menu appears... (if not softreset again while holding Record+Camera)
use Record To NAVIGATE the three items and Camera to TOGGLE Yes/No
4. Press Mail button to Execute the Instructions.
NOTES:
------------------------------------------------
if you're upgrading/changing ROM then USE... No/Yes/Yes
these will format the storage and replace them with the new ROM files
------------------------------------------------
if you only want to only erase the password USE... No/Yes/No
these will keep your files. only the registry is cleaned.
Please help

because your mail button isnt working you havent actually executed the procedure...
you could try the MTTY Alternative of hard reset/ i dont know about your data if it is safe with that alternative.
i havent had any experience or need to use it.
But I KNOW that the solution to your problem is SOMEWHERE in this BA forum.
Goodluck in searching...

i dont think it's a bug. if it is it should be eliminated as early as the 2nd ROM release.
it's a hardware compatibility in which, no one yet has found a fix.
if you want your data to be safe, the only workaround with this is not to activate the phone's password and/or find an alternative third party phone locker with password feature at bootup.
have a nice day!
i just bought my new X1 and while i was doing the setting i set up a password
and the next day i forgot it ...
can anyone help me with reseting it ??
please help ..
Try a hard reset to set it back to factory state, but you'll lose any information and programs that you've installed since you bought it. You can search the forums if you don't know how.
Just in case you don't know how to hard reset without access to the phone, hold both buttons on the front and then push the stylus into the reset button under the battery cover.
opps, that was careless....
thank you very much ..
i thought there is other way than hard reset ...
but finally i did it ..
thanks and you were very helpful guys ..

if that was possible, don't you think it will be useless to setup a password in the device?

excuse me but u have a wrong idea .
can you tell me if you forgot your pc's password, there is no way except you format it ??!!
for windows ?!!
even if you set a password on the BIOS there is a way to open it, right ?
thanks again
You can use endless exploits to sam hashes to get back into a lock pc but winmo ... not sure.
sure there is a way,
but!
no one knows it!
Hard reset it mate, i think it's the best (and fastest) way to use your phone again.
good luck
I tried to unroot my phone via OCLF from the market. It went dark, then got the normal Vibrant screen, the the Galaxy S screen, then it went dark again. Now, it just sits. Black screen. All the buttons at the bottom are lit up. :-/
Anyone?
Silly question, I know. But did you have a nandroid backup, by any chance?
This is probably a last resort, but try boot into recovery and wipe everything. This fix the problem for me, the downside is you lose all you data.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If you are anything like me, recovery didn't work and using Odin and reflashing Stock with repartition didn't work either.
You'll need to use odin to flash Eugenes "Vibrant that doesn't brick" (NO REPARTITION), then use odin again to flash Stock (check repartition this time) and you'll be good to go.
You can try to flash the froyo rom with odin...... I had that same exact problem and this is what fixed it for me. Once froyo us flashed then you can flash whatever rom you want. Hth
Ok, I probably should have stated that I'm a complete newby and have no idea what I'm doing. I believe I do have nandroid, but other than that you all are speaking French to me.
Right now I'm in the recover mode (I think). It's hooked up to my computer and I'm in the "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!" mode. This is where I'm stuck...I have no idea where to go from here.
Please talk to me like I'm a 5 year old, because as far as this is concerned, I am!
Oh, and thank you so much for any help you can give me!

Well, good news is... you didn't brick your phone, this is recoverable. Best idea would be to search the forums on how to ODIN back to Stock. Theres plenty of posts on how to do it. You should also be able to find this in the tips & tricks threads. Good Luck.
Thank you all for your help! I recovered it!! Seems as though I was just going about it the wrong way!! I got into the actual recovery mode and cleared it all out. Now it's as good as new!
Again, appreciate your help and patience with what I'm sure is the 120,000th post on this subject. ;-)

It isn't -> it's a Firmware for the normal Galaxy (3key)[I'm a idiot]

Thats also the problem as described in front : I have had no chance to received the DL Mode.. maybe I make something wrong? The phone is booting up till the "S" is there, after that, the screen is black, keys are lightning...
The recovery 3button are blocked from the beginning; the DL Menu - I did not have reached it successfully
The PC recognize, that is something on USB, but not what ... so Odin did not see the Mobile, too.
So i tried doing the PartCyborgRom for my Verizon Galaxy S8. Everything was fine until ii botted upp and it keeps on going into kernal panic. I tried to Factory reset and flash origional firmware but nothing worked. Any help will be appreciated.

If you read back through the pages and pages of that rom many people have had the issue and there fixes are posted throughout the thread,I myself have not had the issue but it has something to do with resetting to download mode at the rite time.I assure you the answer is scattered several times across several pages

its not tech a brick nothing to worry about sometimes i think odin dont flash em rite and it may take several tries making sure what needs to be ticked is and isnt
Dont let it get in the way of rooting once you do it a couple times it actually is quite simple You almost ignore all the errors
