Correcting music list - Nexus One General

Hey,
Used doubletwist to sync it with itunes, but i have a few songs that are under unknown artist. Is there anyway to edit the info on the n1?
In itunes there labelled correctly, dunno why its doing it

There might be an app for it but I've never seen one.

its quite annoying lol, i dunno why it says unknown artist

It really is. When I go to albums it show more then 1 for the same album. Pretty annoying but I'm use to it.

Theres gotta be a way
maybe its the id3 tags whatever they are

Usually best to tag your music collection on the desktop.

I just do it in itunes but it aint worked.. well it mainly has.. apart from 4 songs

Missing Album Art

Hi,
Transferred my music from WMP over to my Nexus and only some have album art.
My album art has been manually added as "cover art" through WMP.
Would I have more success if I manually add the album art in iTunes?
Does anyone have this problem and has found one is better than the other? These are the only two media players I've ever used but have just come back to Windows so could consider WinAmp if anyone knows how that works with the Nexus?
Cheers. Paul.
Mate all my itunes music had album art.. i transferred it and its not showing :S only some of it is
Was your album art manually added and embedded into the files or just downloaded via iTunes?
Majority by itunes...
It may not be this ultimate fix and it may or may not work on the nexus(I'm still on G1) but Album Art Grabber in the market works well...until you wipe.

This is the problem.
iTunes stores the album art in a different folder and assigns it to the music when loaded.
It does this ONLY if the artist and album title are completely correct, but does not embed it to the track or folder.
There is a way to assign the album art and EMBED it into each track without having to worry about .jpgs hanging around
see here (post 4)

that program works great haha
how do i fix the unknown artist thing.. and missin album title.. i edit it in itunes but it doesnt change
You mustn't be editing it properly.
Remeber you have to edit the Artist, Album in iTunes but ALSO the track title in windows explorer (iTunes changes the embedded info).
Windows may show UNKNOWN album or artist but in iTunes it will be right.
Make sure you change it all, but it is tedious, but once it's dine it'll never need doing again and no unsightly .jpgs in all your music folders.
Oh i get you now mate.. See im on a mac :S thats why im getting confused with how to edit it out of itunes..
I get albums doubled aswell.. must be cus of the name..
Is there no program to edit it on the phone?
Theres a couple for gettin the album art on the market, 'album art grabber' as someone mentioned and 'mp3 tagger' does as well i believe
yeye got the albumart sorted
i mean one that would let me edit
Artist, Album, etc on the phone.. cus using a mac i carnt edit it on here really

FLAC Problem

I seem to be having a problem with the tagging on my FLAC files. i have tried using KIES to insure it was a problem with media monkey (which i have been using most of the time), basicly it isnt displaying the tags for FLAC properly if at all. most annoying thing for me is track order, it just puts them in any order it wants and it is really annoying
i transfered over an album in mp3 format and the tags work fine ;/
anyone have a fix or an idea about that
thanks
Crucio
I'll bne ripping one of my albums to Flac to try it out for my review, will let you know results. Have you tried another player, PowerAMP maybe?
I've always had trouble with FLAC on my Galaxy S; only PowerAMP could show the tags correctly. I'm insanely meticulous with my tagging as well.

Same i hate things that are tagged baddly, i dont understand it i think it takes more time to tag something badly than to do it right
I used power amp to play my files, it displays track information and coverart and the usual stuff.
The odd thing is if i long press a track and go to info i can see the track numbers listed there and they are correct, they just dont display in the correct order and i cant see a way to sort them in to the right sequence ;/
thanks for the replys also ^^

Music

So ever since i got the tab I have been having trouble with putting music on it. Everytime i save songs on the tab from my computer, the songs appear in other albums, the artists names appear for other songs, I get force closes...
Does anyone know what this could be happening?
Also, would a different music player app help solve this problem or organization?
Thanks for the help!
I use mediamonkey to properly name, tag, and include album art. Afterwords, I easily sync the music to my tablet (or drag and drop, depending on the mood).
This method works really well for having organized music on your tablet that's static, the way you set it up to sync in mediamonkey. Hope this helps.
Hey, thanks for the response. You kind of lost me there though... You said you use Mediamonkey to organize it then you pass it onto your tab. Does that mean Mediamonkey is a program on your computer or did i just understand it wrong and it's an app on the tab?
Thanks again! I'm hating the music situation at the moment...
I hate the stock music player and even the Google Music app because...tada..they all FC all the time. Can't even play more than one song.
I use PowerAmp, its the only music app that has ever worked for me on Android, ever !
As for tagging songs, MediaMonkey is good, but i just use iTunes.

Weird thing I was browsing the other date and I found out that there was an update for the music app but the tab never noticed me about it.
Btw it works fine for me

How are you transferring your music to your tab? I use mediamonkey on my PC to manage my music... and then from within mediamonkey I tell it to sync whatever songs or albums I want directly to the tab. I am betting your mp3 tags are getting messed up in the transfer.
Mike
Am really appeciating the help everyone, thanks!
So far still not having much luck...
I am currently trying to use MediaMonley as previously suggested. I am getting tags from the web and that works in general, but sometimes does not work. When doing this, does it alter the orig file? The process i have been using to transfer music is open up "My Music" on my PC where I thought I had things well organized by artist. Then i copy them over to the tab. Should I try syncing through MediaMonkey? How would I do this? Sorry if my questions and understanding are noob like.
Another issue I am having is in my gallery on the tab. Every track has the picture of the Album or whatever which is taking up insane amounts of storage as well just seems dumb...
Will also look into another music player as suggested.
Feel free to comment on any of this. I'm still trying to figure it out and am struggling. Makes me feel like deleting all my music to start over!!!!
Have you tried PlayerPro??
You can pick songs/albums from folders so much easier to organise.

how to organize music into folders that i want?

ok so basically i organize certain music into certain folders the way i want to listen to them. sometimes i don't even organize them by the same genre. it's just a personal preference. in IOS, i would just make a respective playlist for each folder and i would have my music organized the way i want.
however on my nexus 4, even when i transfer my music by the folders i made, it i would just use the metadata and organize the music the way it wants, totally ruining my structure. how can i make it so the music would stay in whatever folder i put it in?
Uh like you said. You need to properly tag your music files, then make playlists.
Or use a file explorer and play/launch your music through folders. (Lame)

so sad....tagging my music won't help because it will still use other meta data to organize the music is a stupid way (according to me that is)
i thought android was better and had much more freedom and now i finally use it, i'm discovering alot of annoyances, and even flaws since some features are discarded. oh well, i guess there are plus and minuses to both OSes, so far i still like ios more. but let me use the nexus 4 for a couple of weeks before the final judgement
I really don't understand what you are doing but android doesn't move music files into any folders that I am aware of on its own once they are on the phone. If you used a file explorer they should be on phone exactly where you put them. The music player, any of them as they all work pretty much the same, can display the music files by artists, album, genres or playlists but not by special folder names. For instance say you setup your music in a folder called hip hop, the music player can only show you the artists and albums in there but not the folder itself because that isn't how they are setup to work but the hip hop folder will still be in the same place you put it. Personally I prefer WMP, tried iTunes and hated it, to sync my music playlists to my phone and don't really worry with how it is organized (by artist and album as that's default for anything) as long as the playlists work and sync properly.
Yeah, what exactly is your issue? It doesn't make sense.
If your metadata is screwed up, that's fine, just copy your music into folders how you want.
Then use any of the millions of file explorers available on the market to view your folders and tap on the music you want to play and it'll launch in your default music player (or its own).
Anyways, there's plenty of alternatives you can do with metadata.
If you have an mp3 named track01.mp3 u can name it whatever u want with id3/metadata name the artist "britney spears" and it'll show up as britney spears in the music app.
Or if you have a bunch of random songs and u want it to be "rage music" make the artist on all of them "RAGE MUSIC" or name the album "RAGE MUSIC" then it's all there.
Or like I said previously, properly tag your songs and make playlists like you did with itunes.
I think what it is is that the iPhone displays music with a file browser and not a music player and that's why you can see specially named folders. Don't know as I've never owned one and it doesn't really appeal to me.
Edit: Nope just looked at someone iPhone at work, it opens up a music player just like android. But it must have some type of file browsing ability if it can show folders not conventionally named.
In what format are you storing your metadata? I use ID3v2 tags so that the information is imbedded into the mp3, particularly the album art, and travels with it from device to device. Not sure what Apple supports.

Yeah iphone does NOT do folder browsing in the itunes app. No idea what the OP is talking about. He can do whatever he wants to do and better if he does it all with id3 tags. or simply use a real file browser.

Windows media player questions

How much does winmed player actually sync over web? Just album art or like say if i have song titles and artists, will it sync the albums?
Sent from an Apple killing JellyBean
it can attempt to pull album art as you have already said, it can also get other meta data like artist, titles, album, dates, genre
that's about your lot though and that's assuming it can ID it in the first place
Say if i already have muaic ive named the song and i know the artist, i dont know what order songs appear on an album will it separate the albums apart and put them in order? If not, how do i serperate a whole "unknown album" into sections and group songs by albun

Is there any other program that lets you edit the song name and stuff and it show it on a music playing device?

iTunes allows you to edit metadata of multiple songs at once and since their update to v11 it's a lot nicer to use and navigate.
If you choose this route then just right-click of the song you want to edit, click "Get Info" the click the Info tab and edit away
google it, your wanting to edit meta data on music files, there are literally thousands of programs over various operating systems that can do it, hell windows will let you do it too if you can be bothered doing one file at a time
How much data does this take up in windows8 doing this? Ive never been a big fan of apple anything but itunes alright now?

iTunes 11 takes 191MB when installed.
I hate apple too and used to despise iTunes until i saw the update for myself and it is far better than what it used to be. I still use the Xbox Music app for playing my songs but when i need to edit track or artist info i go with iTunes because how easy it is to use now.
Only drawback is that once you're done with the editing you need to copy over all the songs you edited back into your music folder from iTunes for the changes to take effect system wide instead of just in iTunes.
