Before anyone flames me I know this is in the wrong section, and i'm aware that technically XDA Developers is for HTC only, however i'm hoping someone can help.
I've recently aquired a Sony Ericsson Xperia X2, however it has one really annoying fault. When the phone is in standby and you recieve an SMS you do not get any notifications etc until you wake the phone up. I've read on the forum this is a fault with some other devices caused by the phone not waking on recieved SMS's.
Does anyone know the reg edit I need to perform to make the phone wake up on recieving a text message?
Thanks in advance

Okay... FLAME ON!!!
Nah, just kidding mate.
Have a look at this thread...

Hope it helps
Incidentally, most people are happy to help non-HTC users, if they can. You're just better off asking in the general forums, rather than a phone-specific one.
Thanks, this is going to sound off but the key 'DisableSMSWakeUpEvent' isn't present in that directory. Would adding it in solve it?

I'm not sure, to be honest. I just checked my HD2, and it's there with a value of 0 and my phone does wake up when I get an SMS, so give it a go. (I guess you already know this, but you'll need to restart after making the change).

Yeah just tried it, doesn't make any difference, the phone still fails to wake up on an SMS event

Hi all, I've got a strange problem that I haven't found posted here before, sometimes, not always, when one of my contacts calls me the phone will display the number instead of the persons name.
Has anyone seen this before ? am I doing something daft ? and / or is there a way round this.
TIA
from what i understand sometimes it gets closed down and is automaticly restarted after awhile
showing that odd icon shortly
if you recieve a call while it's shut down then it dont display
If you have a problem and it doesn;t load, then go to /Windows folder find IA_Caller_exe make a shortcut to it and place it either in the Start menu folder, or the Star up folder (if itsn;t already there)...
When you see your problem hit the Start menou shortcut and it is once again reloaded...
It is not a solution, but still an answer to your problem...

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows of a program that makes an SMS read faster? I get plenty of sms' from work and basically just want to ignore them and make then read... but TF3D makes you stay on them for about 5sec before it changes it from unread to read... maybe a registry setting?
Thanks
oh ya I am having the same problem also. Any fix for this?
yeah, this was frustrating me today too, i could not figure out wich txt was the 1 bubble.
anyone? please
surely its just a registry setting...
tf3d read time-out.... or something...

Any1 got this yet. It winds me up
its a manila issue. i dontthink its in the registry.
if u use the WM sms app rather then the manila tab it goes to read as soon as you look at it. no 5 sec delay.
i've sent a PM to D-MAN, hopefully he can help
nothing yet.. dang
let hope for the best man... =)
hey all, still nothing on this, BUT i've posted a question for Swfit on his rom thread.. maybe something will come out of it
Still no fix for this yet? I woulda thought by now, we coulda found this issue/setting.
I would also really like to know being checking all registry values and i can find nothing. The 5 second is really irritating.
I have been looking on other forums and have got nothing.
I assumed that it would be an easy task but alas.
I need this app too
If you tap 'all messages' you go into your SMS inbox - from there it's really easy to just mark them all as read.
They also go from Un-read to Read straight away if you open from there ans swipe message to message...
I know it's not realy what you're asking for, but if you get so many messages, I would think it's the best way, as you can view 10 or so at once with a preview...
Hello everyone!
Since always I found that on my X1i (generic_uk 3AA) the Ring and Vibrate changes back to just 'ring' after a restart.
Is there any way to make this Ring and Vibrate "permanent" even after a restart? I looked into the Registry but did not find a proper value to mess around with ....
I had now 6 or 7 of those X1s and this last one is 09W23(!) and still does that.
Help is appreciated
What is this... nobody has the same problem and/or nobody knows a registry 'trick' or other means to solve that either?

(having that many phones wouldnt matter it would be a software bug if anything)
Just checked mine - after a restart it is still set to vibrate and ring
BUT i am running Vodafone UK - i actually prefered it to generic but since i am using a different rom i cant say properly although they are very similar - see what someone with the same firmware says.
Dont know how to fix though sorry
Hey, thanks for answering. I have voice command installed and a photo contact program that includes ring selections. Even though I don't use those, one never knows if these interfere somwhow.
But there should be some here who know a registry setting and/or have the same problem and solved it somehow.
In any case.... waiting for now....

I bet they do interfer.
is there a fix for this? tried searching but couldn't find anything, just a lot of threads about the delay to reply which works slightly better due to new fix released today
anyway, in conversation mode, if I reply quickly back to a text message within the same minute then it goes before the text I'm replying to instead of after it!
not exactly good if you send quick texts often as the conversation looks a mess!
thanks
Hi,
Try installing the latest hotfix for SMS. They've sorted out the little bugs in texting. You can download it from: http://www.htc.com/uk/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=all
Hope this helps!

I'd already installed the update earlier today and it's still there . Surely it doesn't just look at hour:min in the text message details and list them. Wouldn't it work better if they also date/stamp (including seconds) the text when it's received so it will work OK in conversation mode?
try it yourself and send a text to yourself and when you get it, reply straight away and it will put the 2nd sent text before the text you received in the 1st place!
This happened to me where all my Texts were at the top of the conversation and all my friend's replied were at the bottom. Is this the same problem you had? I solved it by changing the message type to unthreaded in settings.
i have same issue .. my gf replies straight away and it appears she answered my question before i asked it .. its very annoying
Took me a LOT of searching when I had the same problem, but this fixed it for me:
Edit the following registry key...
HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\
add a DWORD key "TrustTimeZoneField" and give it a value of "0"
No more time zone issues. This is caused by your operator I think sending the wrong time to the phone...
SOURCE: http://www.mattgibson.ca/2008/04/13...gsm3g-windows-mobile-56-smartphonespocketpcs/
this change only solve if u r in diff timezone.
but we are both in same timezone.... but sms timestamp is not basic on our mobile time setting is basic on their one

I'd faced this issue too. The way I could fix it was set the Time of my HD2 about 2-3 Mins forward than the current time. That solved the SMS order issue.
Actually the issue seems to be due to the Timestamp of the SMS which is given by the Mobile Operator being a bit ahead than the time on your HTC Device.
Did you try it? Was happening in the same time zone with me and this solved it.

that's no fix as the problem is then reversed as then incoming texts go before the ones you've sent out . I found that out straight away as I normally put my phone fast anyway but then got incoming texts going before my initial texts! Even just 1 minute ahead doesn't work as texts sent/received within that minute get mixed up!
my G1 used to time stamp them as they came in with the time of the handset, not time sent or network time. Good for conversation on G1 as it got them in the right order but it had it's flaw. The problem being you didn't know when it had actually been sent to you if your phone had been off for any amount of time as it simply time stamped when received when you'd switched your phone back on!
whoever tested the SMS feature of this phone obviously didn't do a good job at all strange that such a great feature handset trips up on one of the most used features that most other handsets work perfectly fine with

its annoying that little bugs like this have not been addressed by HTC
same issue here
i am wondering when will HTC put a fix to this fundamental problem on a core function such as SMS. Seriously, the HTC messaging is nice, but with the lag and timestamp issue, it makes HTC seem like they're trying too hard and not focusing on making the phone work well first than look nice. I am frustrated as hell too, but trips to the service centre only gave me answers like "wait for a software release/upgrade", i am wondering whether do you receive any problems with the touch screen? the screen actually jitters and shakes up and down even when your finger is still frequently. i have changed the main board 2 times already and it happens still.
Btw, my set's from singapore.
Fix made! Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6116612
Hi guys, first post from me so excuse if theres some infos missing what you need, but I'll add as something is asked.
I'm a long user of Nokia phones and just changed my E90 into a Diamond. And the one thing that I really miss is that theres not exactly different profiles to choose from (or made your own). Theres only selections for silent and vibrate, other than the normal selections. And I really miss that from Nokia phones. Just a few simple clicks and phone has a loud theme with a different ringtone and SMS message sound, or then its almost quiet (like when my baby is sleeping).. I think you all get the picture, if you ever had Nokia phones =)
So my reguest is for someone to point out a program or if someone wants to make I would be glad, really glad I think some others would like these too
I could make another post but I'll just add few other programs also to here that maybe someone knows if there exists similar for Diamond
- BestProfiles (enable selected profiles to turn on at some time of day)
- FlipSilent (turn ur phone face-down and its on silent, works for alarming to go snooze)
- Putty (great for symbian phones but I found only programs that arent so good as this is)
Anyways thnx in advantage if someone can help a dude out...
PS. only had HTC for a few days but after starting using it I had to order a data-plan to my mobile and a better battery, but this was off-topic..
Try ageye's G-Profile (http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about), you get a fully 14-days working demo and full app is just 5€! One of the most happily money spent ever for my Diamond, now I even have it start playing music when I plugin earphones/carkit and stop when disconnecting!

I just installed it and it seems a fair try, tho it has a lot more possibilitys that i would actually need from a app might even help that dude out to translate it to my native language, like i just did to PocketShield, not finished yet but almost =)
Below again some off-topic, maybe some admin explains to me how to get rid of it =)
