sending attachments, error !! ?? - HD2 General

im tryng to send a 20mb attachment but it keeps saying "the message(s) could not be sent. check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. then try sending again." but it sends normal email fine ??
what the hell is this, how can i get this to work,
also if i send a 615k attachment it sends but not 20mb, could this have anything to do with the auto disconnect 60 sec reg tweak? ??

bump bump bump

COuld be any of a few factors, for example Gmail I believe supports max message size of 20MB, Hotmail I beleive is 10MB, i'm sure some ISP's also have size limits.

X1 won't send email when I attach a item

Hi,
I've looked though the forum and could not see an answer so apologies if this has been asked before!
I can happily send and receive email using my 3rd party email servers. No problems.
But when I attached a picture file say from the storage card and the phone tries to send it takes about 30sec and then says the 'The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that you account information is correct' even though there is signal.
If I remove the attachment the message goes.
It a Vodafone X1 with ROM version 1.03.161.7
Any ideas?
Paul.
dunno, the only thing i can think of is the attachment is probably too big. try sending a small notpad file or something first to test it out.

Picture messaging and internet help please

Picture mail not working on boost any ideas or help please

install winpm.cab
configure picturemail from programs.
Set up boost mobile mediamail account: https://mediamail.boostmobile.com/login.do
Sending is easy. Retrieve pictures by logging into your boost mobile media mail account. When someone sends you picture mail you will get a text message telling you to go get it. The links in the text messages have never worked for me as it looks like you have to already be logged in to mediamail to use the link.
ICBW, but I believe sprint has disabled WinMo devices from directly receiving picture mail claiming some sort of spamming problem.
I also installed Ryan Moguls MMS hotfix which allows better menu access to picture mail. For whatever reason, I can only send 1 picture mail and then soft reset the phone before sending another.

Cannot send MMS

I am having hard time configuring my phone to send MMS. The configuration parameters seem to be easy and straightforward, but I just can't send MMS.
How would you exactly configure your N1 with the following parameters ?!?!?

I can't send mms either.
Trying to send to myself.
Used both stock messaging, and handcent.
Got the settings from 3 different sources, all the same, and the settings used to work with my magic.
Can't even send to myself. It seems to start sending, but then quits without an error message. I only get a timeout much later.
Can someone please help? Maybe I can pull a log to see what the problem is?
if it matters, I'm on danish operator happiimobil, which uses the TDC network.
are you using handcent ?? i heard somewhere that there's a bug with sending mms on the n1 whith handcent.
It's because the default SMS/MMS app doesn't compress the image you are sending.
If you try sending a small picture of say 30kb it will send but if you try sending a picture you took with the camera (900kb+) it wont send because networks don't allow images that big to be sent.
o2 in the UK has a 300kb limit and when I try to send a picture I took with the N1 camera it fails. but if I resize it and get it under 300kb it sends no problem
So I'm guessing that's the same problem your having? Or have you tried to send a small picture?
EDIT: Never tried Handcent so can't comment on that app.
I have the same problem...
But using TIM brasil...
Still having the problem. The size of the pic is not the issue : the messaging stock application says it's converting the image into a multimedia file, and it even says that it's compressing the file when it's too big. I also tried with a very small file 11kb and the same problem. When sending the message I got the icon of the letter with a little red clock on its left side ( same as when sending sms ) but after FEW HOURS I got the notification that the message has not been sent.

Even if it says it is converting to MMS...it is NOT resizing the image and it will be send at its full size and will not go through.
I am on Att and had the same problem. i solved it by switching to handcent which works VERY WELL for me.
First I tried stock, then I tried handcent. In handcent I can see the message size is only ~30kb, so the size doesn't seem to be the problem.
Just now tried stock, and it also says it's resizing before it says it's converting to mms.
Size 168kb
Still wont send in either of the apps though.
Will try chomp when I get around to it, but I think it's not the problem
I get the same result as pakalrtb
I'm still having issues with this as well, even after switching to Handcent. It seems to only have a problem with pictures that are quite large in file size (ie outdoor in full daylight type pics that are 900+kb before resizing). When I attempt to send the picture, it says "file too large, resize?" so I hit resize, then it asks me again so I hit resize again. By the time I check the message details after hitting "send" the file is down to 20-something kb but still never shows up at its destination. If I pic an indoor pic or something taken at night it gets resized and sends and arrives promptly, so it seems to be picture specific.
Frustrating.
Tried handcent as well, same problem. And the funny/strange thing is that I get the notification of the non-delivery, hours, sometime a day later ...........

Try to delete all the APN.
Then do a 'reset to default' (under the menu) to re-populate your setting.
This works for me.
PROBLEM SOLVED .
It was a syntax error. In the MMSC field I was typing 10.6.32.2.......... instead of http://10.6........

still doesn't work for me.
Tried to run logcat, it says a lot of stuff about mms, but I'm kinda green on it, so it doesn't make much sense to me.
Please speak up if someone can make sense of it, then I'll post my logcat.
I might try to see if it works with cm or maybe when a new version of modacos desire rom comes out, but since anything else works so good, it seems like a waste to install a new rom to get something as simple as mms to work.
Found this tip elsewhere (can't remember where at the moment!)
But try "picsay" app from the app store. Allows you to resize pics easily and send MMS messages from them
Bit of a faff around compared to normally sending the message but resize seems to work ok and it's only an extra step or two.
Doesn't result in REAAAALLLY small pics either.

picture messaging problem

I am having trouble texting mesages with picture attachments and I cannot receive them. My friend texted me a 123kb size picture. When I press download it says downloading but it never finishes or even starts. I tried texting myself a pic and it won't even send it (it just says sending forever). I am running 2.3.1 (I think) so can I fix this with an update or is this problem a result of something else.
I'm not quite sure if there is an update that fixes that. But I know that there is a option in your stock SMS that auto retrieves pic msgs. Make sure that's checked. And make sure your getting data connection (signal bar should be green)
Disclaimer: not a tech genius just putting in my two cents. Hope it helps a little.

must be something wrong with your MMS settings. MMS has always worked for me on every version 2.3 up to 2.3.3.
Has your account been enabled for MMS?
I have unlimited texting on my t-mobile account. On my old phone (non smartphone) I would send and receive pics with now problems whatsoever.
I chacked the setting to my sms and I have the auto retrive messages checked. I don't see anything that says auto retrieve mms or anything like that. I have 2 green bars of signal and tried sending the pics and it still doesn't send or receive. This is frustrating.
nevermind, problem solved--I did not have data enabled or access points set.

is there a way bypass mms picture size setting ??

hello all when i try to send 2 or 3 pictures through text ill get and error( saying unable to attach file . file size too larger try sending via email , wifi ) ?
You might be able to increase it some through modifying system files, but remember that AT&T's network won't support messages larger than 600KB
