Protected Apps? - Nexus One General

Hey anyone working on a fix for protected apps on a rooted Nexus one??

Just google for MarketEnabler and install that on your phone. I'm using that in Singapore to buy paid apps with no problems on the Nexus.

I got full access to Android market without rooting

I am from the Philippines and we only have access to free apps. My Nexus S came with a T-Mobile SIM (bought from Best Buy last Dec 2010) and thought of using it just to check. Of course I didn't get any signal but got full access to android market. I was able to purchase app, via my Nexus S and from the web Android Market.
Putting back my local SIM will give me the 'Not Found: The requested item could not be found" when i tap the purchased item, but clearing data by going to Market will make the app reappear.
For some screen grabs, check my posterous page.
So that SIM is useful for something after all. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the info.
I used the Market Enabler app. Phone must be rooted but it does what it is supposed to.
Just remember to switch back to you country after using Market Enabler

That's what I did to gain access to paid apps, and some free ones like Skype which aren't in the Pakistani android market.
The annoying thing is that to update some of the paid apps I need to put back the US sim card, while others update without needing the US sim once installed.
Yeah, I have been using T mobile SIM to get full access since day one . I live in Jordan.
we really do hope.. someone can update our market place that we can buy any paid apps without changing sims.. since its really frustrating..
what i mean is that i hope someone can have an enabler that doesn't need root..

[Q] newbie Android App store: what happens when you change devices?

Hi,
All I've done so far is install free apps. What happens if I buy an app and install it on my current tablet, but then at some point sell the tablet for a newer tablet? Can I re-install the already-paid-for app if I use the original google account used to purchase it?
There doesn't seem to be a function to download the apps and save them as an install file, so you can back it up.
If anyone's had any experience with Amazon App store, how do they handle this? For Amazon, you're using your Amazon account, so it doesn't matter what google ID is used on the Android right?
If I have two tablets, is it possible to paid for program and install it on both tablets? Either with google app store or amazon's app store?

Answer to both is yes, at least for the Android Market anyway - I've never used Amazon's app store.

If you have rooted your TF you can install Titanium Backup and use this to backup any apps already installed, including their data.

Android Apps from the Market are all handled by the users email account and not per device. As long as you link your new device to your gmail (or other) account then it should sync with that device (I think).
Had no dealings with Amazon Market so I cant comment on that sorry.
Mark.
Android Market: Just log in with your Google credentials and you can redownload the apps.
Amazon: Same thing. You'll just have to verify its device one time via email or something.
I use Android Market & Amazon App store on both my my Nexus S & TF101. No problems.
But yes, I totally agree with Titanium Backup. It'll make things easier! Especially with game saves.
I run my family's fleet of android devices and can confirm that you can install Purchased Apps from the Android Market on as many devices as you want at once as long as the MAIN Google account is the same. I havent been able to test yet but it appears that Honeycomb now allows multiple accounts inside of the Android Market and I would assume that you could then install purchased apps from a secondary Google account now as well.
As for the Amazon Market, you can install Purchased Apps on as many devices as you'd like as long as the same account info is used. I use the Amazon Market to install purchased apps on all of the devices I manage because it allows me to do so without having to give access to my contacts, emails, and other items that a Google Account would sync.

Market sync problem

I have amazon appstore installed with a bunch of free app of the day installed. I was messing with titanium the other day and market doctor to see what it did and all the apps from sideload and amazon are all in the my apps section now. Is there a way to remove the nonpurchased apps? Really paranoid about it, I can't update it and it's synced to the cloud. Also does anyone know how much it might be to fix broke accelerometer and trackball? (pretty much the bottom)

No google books update outside US

Hi there
Just got my n7 and set up my us vpn. I managed to buy a book with my 25$ gift thing but when i try to open google books i am told i need the newest google books update to read it (same with movies and magazines). So i hit OK and i am taken to the app store showing the google books app, but there is no update button? The apps show AS installed on google play, but are nowhere to be seen in the app drawer or installed apps.
This happened after i updated to the latest OTA FW.
Before the ota i could atleast watch the transformers movie.
I am currently rooted using nexus root toolbox 1.5.3, also using market enabler and a USA based vpn.

So nobody else has experienced this? Could it be that i need a factory reset after the OTA update?

Can't buy (or see) paid apps in Google Play Store

Just bought a Nexus 7 and I can't see any paid apps in the store to make purchases. I can download apps I bought previously on my Galaxy Nexus but a lot of games and apps simply aren't there or there's no purchase button - only a message saying video not available in my country.
I'm on a new 32GB device and tried clearing Play cache, reinstalling older version, flashing old and new ROMs, removing and adding Google Account and even added a new account to no avail.
Any ideas how I can get round this? Its quite tedious googling for apk files and installing manually.
Help!
