Hello Folks,
The HD2 is a hard Mistress to fall in love with.
It just takes soooo much customizing to unlock the true potential of this phone (why, oh why do the HTC folks keep pushing superior HW phones with castrated SW design onto the market???)
As part of my customizing I'm desperately trying to clean up HTC's desktop icon layout (by the way, after I flashed Tom's ROM many of the problems I kept getting [slow response times, missed responses, programs not starting,...] as soon as I had installed many a programs just went away like nothing).
Now there is that group of HTC_* icons on the Desktops for YouTube and other crap that is I really, really don't need.
But whenever I move them somewhere else, bang they're back as soon as I reboot - albeit now they are just "blank icons".
How can I get rid of them for good and save myself some screen space in the process?
Any hint appreciated.

Thankx, found it myself just 5 minutes ago.
Someone, please, force HTC to consult with XDA when they design their units...
It is pathetic that almost all the solutions to HTC problems & issues are to be found here, rather than in any official HTC help forum...

Howdy,
I have seen all of the threads on the subject, and seen the proggy, and know the sensitivity around all this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289523
However, it obviously makes sense for someone to cook it so that the iphone looking front end is cooked into a good rom with the stability of a
schraps, or a black satin, etc.
I have tried setting it up separately, but I am a newbie, and have bricked 1 hermes already trying reset it after I screwed it up.
Has this not happened because of the sensitivity on the matter or something else?
Again looking for rom load that uses the apple looking screen already cooked to a rom for a hermes (HTC wm6)
Thanks in advance
obiviously I am referring to the fornt end picture per this url
http://mobilecrunch.com/wp-content/iPhone1.jpg
Claunch is a today plugin that launches applications. Why do you need it cooked in ?! What you're showing in your picture is a regular iPhone. What are you talking about exactly ?
Making the hermes look like an iphone
sorry
What I was trying to say is that they have the skins now to make the hermes (or I guess any wm6 phone) look like an iphone.
But I find the apps/skins not the easiest thing to use/get right/tweak.
Launch on start up etc.
So what I was trying to spit out was has anyone cooked the proggy/skin that does this into a rom so it doesn't to be tweaked.
cheers
I dont understand why this Iphone home screen suppose to be such good think.
The most important thinks that I need in my first look would be my appointments, outstanding task etc. Iphone screen just provides shortcuts for some applications. Well I may not get really what is it about.
Anyhow you can do such thing without any issues and any special rom. what you need is the Iphone icons (I am sure there are hundreds in the web) then the wisbar advance Desktop.
Iphone looking launch screen
Thanks Bulldog.
Love it or hate it, the simplicity of the iphone, skin, is it is good looking and functional.
It is also the benchmark that all other phones will be measured against for a long time (as the phone has not arrived outside the US yet).
Thanks for your tip but wisbar is not quite slick enough.
There are others but they too are not quite right.
I am sure someone has cooked it all in one.
It wouldn't be worth cooking claunch into rom. It's a tiny app, and the pleasure of it is customising it to launch the apps you want to launch.
I've written several guides for claunch, hunt around. But it's a simple app.
What might be useful is if someone makes an all-in-one iphone-alike pack. And those probably do exist. Burning claunch into ROM wouldn't be very helpful.

Any direction you can point thee would be appreciated .. thanks
Hey guys, I clicked on this section, as I figured it's where custom things etc go on! I wanted an I-phone in Sept 07, and walked out with the brand new that week AT&T TILT HTC 9300.
After learning that because I have windows I can download themes to allow me to use the phone with my thumb, instead of being all jammed up not haveing a toggle, because I lost it etc etc etc
Right now I have different applications downloaded : I went to
www.myiphonetheme.com and that was not easy, and just ended up a pain! I have half my home screen currently factory, and then half I believe an application that I downloaded (not sure if it's iphone) but it's very popular touch, dark greay, with the weather buttons etc etc!
So things are alot better with that, but I need as I know this windows based phone has so much potential HELP Is there a download at handago.com that anyone recommends??!! I want the theme that will do everything, even if it's seperate themes?! I saw a finance manager for example, but if I could get EVERYTHING IN ONE, like the I-phone all thruout the HTC system then I'd be all set ;o( Any advice would be hugely appreciated Best Regards, Ampin
Can I please get some help
anyone?? I know I'm knew but I have been out of my head for a while now trying to get the right everything for my tilt HTC, 9300
somehow I have the new WHITE HTC'S theme for weather etc, but
Hi just recently joined this site and well i just wanted to ask ppl some of the questions about my HTC HD2 and see if these are standard things witch most of ppl have or maybe just me. So here is the list of wonderful things that my hd2 does to me:
1. Ghost finger: randomly swaps an app, loads them, when using a quick select links it some times jumps to the other one.
2. Twitching: almost in every app where i use touch controls it would start well twitching. Mainly moving up and down, but now sideways to YAY!
3.Lock: there is no lock on my HD2 i had it for about 4h(since the purchase) then it gone, and no i didn't change any settings.
4.Mail:My mail app doesn't work, I can only view the Mail but i cannot open it. In order for me to open the mail i have to load up the actual mail from the start menu.
5. Keyboard: ohh this is one of the once that make me whanna throw this phone in to the wall sometimes. Basically when i type sometimes when i lift my finger away from the screen after pressing a letter it moves on to a near by letters and types them up. It ether around or to the side up to 4 letters. Therefore making txting practically impossible.(i do have big fingers but that doesn't change a thing, i had 5 ppl sitting down on it typing and all of them had the same problem)
6. final and my favorite is the fact now it randomly slows down. no idea why!(did have NET 3.5 installed and removed. didn't help)
So if u guys could help me get a solution to find a way to fix these that would be awesome cause this is the best phone i had and i just hate these small things which make it a living hell. (Also i am getting a replacement soon so i was just hoping that i wont have the same issues with my new HTC HD2 so thx for helping.)
Hello and welcome to the forum,
First off please alter your thread title to something more amenable else there's a whole host of people who won't bother to help you!.
To solve your problems start of by reading this thread ...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638 then look at the thread below it (The Q& A one).
Implement the solutions in those threads. Use this link ...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all to search this site for things you might need, e.g BSB Tweaks.
Good luck and keep at it.

Basically there are no fixes for the major problems.
Welcome to my nightmare.
i know it is probably a bad idea to ask about Sony Ericsson phones on this site but i haven't found much help anywhere else so thank you for any response.
i have been severely disappointed with the latest update via the SEUS
immediate problems are as follow:
locks up and hangs A LOT
though the new sideview looks beautiful and has fm radio it is much slower
i am constantly doing soft restarts and even had to do about 3 hard restarts
randomly it won't be able to find the storage card
or it will rename the storage card so i have to remap the shortcuts
and just so i don't seem like a whiny b*tch
the panels are brilliant and in my opinion better than tf3d
the sideview if a power tool plays most of all my media
excellent battery life
finally to my real question
does anybody know of any good custom roms for my x2 some things im looking for is:
being able to close slideview (i've been using taskfacade to do that)
something much more stable
and i still want the panels
basically simplier
i'm willing to make sacrifices as in even if i must lose the panels and slideview
and again thank you for your time
Hi and welcome to XDA, you may of noticed this thing called hard SPL, this is a custom bootloader(Bios) that allows us to add custom ROMS, the one for the X2 isn't done yet.

im glad to see that the idea of creating a sub catagorie or x2 has been discussed and hopefully that will be up soon and thanks for the update of the hard spl. xda really is the best place to go find answers, i should've asked here first
Mod edit: not rom dev related, moved to general
Hi noob here, just wondered after reading some reviews on HD mini, what the best thing to do is when I get the phone?
Its just now ive purchased this phone, i have found that the OS windows is slow laggy, could anyone point me in the direction or tell me the best way to mod it out so its performance is the best it can be.....
apologies if i have posted in the wrong section or have asked something that is already ina thread
any info appreciated
hi
best way to mod it : start with cooking your own ROM,search here for os kitchen and learn how it works
good luck
A simple way to boost up the speed is to remove all unnecessary tabs from the homescreen. They may look pretty, but in time, you'll find many of them practically useless.
Windows Mobile itself can handle SMS quite well. I've tried keeping more than 20,000 in my old device (Asus P750), and it barely slow down.
But it's different with the addition of HTC's Sense. HTC Messaging can handle around a few hundred messages with noticeable lag. Give it 1,000 messages, and it struggles. If you don't need to keep messages, delete as often as you can. And try to limit the number of contacts too.
