Hey all. Just for. MY nexus one came today Ans I loooovveee it. However. I am noticing 1 problem. My volume up key works fine And click down and is responsive. However my volume down key is really hard to press down and not clicky like the up key. I paid 566.00 for this phone so should I ask for a replacement? And how do I get a hold of HTC/ Google? Thanks in advanced and sorry for the typing, on my nexus
HTC appears to be doing most of the Nexus One support for now (and replacements, if necessary). Their Nexus One support page is http://www.htc.com/www/support/nexusone/.
I've had my Nexus One since the 7th and had no problems, it's a wonderful device. I hope your issue gets resolved one way or the other.

I have noticed that my Vol Down key often does not feel as though it has any area of movement (as in it doesn't move much like the Vol Up key does when I press it).
It still responds well to key presses and never gives any false inputs, but still I'd like it so that I've got a feel for what I'm pressing down on.

Was the volume button tight to start with, it has just got loose over time?
Two of my handsets had loose volume keys and one didn't, straight out of the box. I was wondering if the 'tight' one would become loose over time...
Hey
Recently, I've got strange problems with my hardware keys on my (European) hd2. When I press the home or the back button, they work sometimes like the volume buttons. So the home button decreases the volume and the back increases it.
I'm using Artemis v43 with WinMo 6.5.5, but I had the same experience on all stock rom versions (that's why I got rid of them)!! Even if I m using Android the buttons are still weird. (In Androd it's extremly annoying due to the immensive use of the back button ).
Has anyone else the same experience and how did you solved this? Or should I send it to HTC to repair it?
Thanks for your help

maybe you had a short in your motherboard, i would recommend contacting HTC, as it is a hardware problem
Thanks.
Yeah, it really seems to behardware stuff. I'll contact HTC.
When I press the home key it doesnt always work. i noticed that if i press it lightly (as much as I used to on the S2) It doesnt work, it still clicks in but its only if I press it a little harder that it actually functions. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me ans I need to get used to give it a good old press each time?
I can't press mine so light.. It's pretty stiff so when it moves it moves and always works

mine is working normally. One click press tha'ts it no hard press required. Maybe it's better to check other functions as well in the phone and return the piece. coz i have seen many SIII pieces had hardware problems. i actually had a same problem but with power button and i returned my SIII and got a new one from phones4u Now everything is working perfect. Hope that helps.::
Coming from a Galaxy Nexus, my volume buttons seem incredibly unresponsive and hard to press, especially the volume down button. Anyone else notice this? I'm wondering if it's a consistent hardware issue or if it's worthwhile to try and do an exchange.
Do you mean that the button would not depress, or that you can press the button but the phone does not register the press? If the latter then you must have a defective unit since I can get presses to register every time. I came from a Galaxy Nexus too and while the volume buttons on the N4 have more resistance I don't think they are that hard to press.

The button depresses, but barely, and I have to press pretty hard. It doesn't have the same "click" feedback as most phones -- it just feels like I'm mashing it. I'm guessing it's just my phone since I haven't read anything else about it. Hooray for quality control
Edit: on the plus side, in case anyone else is in the same situation, I just called Google and the replacement process seems pretty painless.
Sorry for bumping a relatively old thread. I'm in the same situation with one of my two N4s. In comparison, the volume buttons on one of the phones are really hard to press. I've called Google three days in a row and they said they would email me the instructions for replacement, but I still haven't received anything from them. I was wondering how long did the exchange process take for you?
hey guys
got my brand new xc yesterday. I have noticed that I need to press the power button 2 or 3 times and a little bit harder to make it work
anyone noticed this problem or is it just my case?!
I don't have this issue. I'd exchange it.
Might need to exchange it sounds like a defective unit.
yeah I dont care anyway it's not a big issue and I dont have time to go for warranty
thanks guys.
Depending on country and store, you get a no questions asked instant replacement for DOA (Defect On Arrival). Might be worth it. You need to return the defective phone within quite a narrow timeframe after recieving it, though. Had a very good experience. (Switzerland/Digitec/7 days)

When I got my Z5C I had to adjust to the power button placement (since most previous phones I owned had a power button on the top of the phone).
When I received the XC I noticed this power button is much more difficult to press than my previous Z5C. It also doesn't make much noise when clicked. This means that I do typically press harder to depress the button but I figure it is just an adjustment that i need to make when using the phone much like I did when I was using the Z5C. If you press in the middle of the button and it doesn't work then I would agree about its defect status. Otherwise, you might just be adjusting like me.
Yeah i guess it's defective but doesnt matter, it works if i press a bit harder
Although It sometimes gets tricky when i want to keep pressing to go to power menu or turn on the phone
Anyway, thanks guys
