Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Professional - HD2 General

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSWGJ1XTV3g

if you want to try 6.5.3 there are plenty of custom roms in this forum with it built in

I'm too scared to flash a baked ROM lol

It's almost the same as flashing an official ROM. If you use SSPL, nothing can go wrong.

being a newbie - are there any links to pages that explain how to do this and undo it if need be!?!? Ive had a search for SSPl and not found any leo stuff

Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593878

hi, a question about rom cooking wm6.5

please dont get angry,
but,
do i need a microSD to put on windows mobile 6.5?
im not good at technology and stuff. i dont really understand the 'how to'.
thanks in advance.
anyone?......
this is the wrong place to be asking, go to X1 rom dev, and since ur a newbie ask and collate on Kid_DC's newbie chef thread
actually ive just realised what you are asking after reading your post, previously only read thread title....
anyway what you are probably asking is not how to cook 6.5, not how to flash 6.5...
Cooking- building, customising and tweaking a rom from a rom kitchen
Flashing- getting the above rom installed on your phone
anyway if you want to flash a windows mobile rom you dont need a SDcard, all you need is your phone; usb cable; a computer; windows mobile device center installed; and an activesynce connection between the two....
if you want to flash a 6.5 rom 1st go to the x1 rom development section then read a sticky thread on how to flash a rom...
btw i suggest itje's win6.5
thanks. this website is quite a steep learning curve for me. all these new words etc.

Touch HD Customizing: WinMo 6.5, yes or no? Cooked ROM / New Manila / Manila Editor!?

Hello out there,
finally I arrived thinking about customizing my standard-HD-Config.
I'm now wondering about possibilities coming along with a cooked ROM like Duttys:
Is it faster than the normal ROM? Does it make sense to take these efforts to change the ROM? What are your experiences?
Moreover, what advantages do I have when using an updated manila-version? Faster, less problematic, more comfortable? What are your experiences?
And finally: can I use the Manila Editor without a cooked ROM?
Thanks for your answers!
the answer is yes to all of your questions!!!!
Yes almost every rom made by rom chefs is faster than stock rom, by tests it sometimes may seem slower but in real life use its much faster!!! less hangs, more speed
updated manila version- well everyone uses it because its more comfortable - calendar tab & settings in manila & their finger friendly (like- to set alarm you dont need stylus but only your fingers)
Yes you can use manila editor with a stock manila (just make sure you choose the right home layout in editor!! )
When I started to flash roms there wasnt any new manila, only the stock one, but roms were a lot faster than stock ones---- now there are new manilas and the roms have been tweaked so they are a lot & a lot more faster than stock roms!!
Hey Kristaps,
thx for the answer.
Are there any ROMs being recommended by you? Are there ROMs with new Manila Versions (TF3D 2.0 / 2.5)? And: are there Manila not based on TF3D you can recommend?

well I cant recomend, cuz it can hurt some rom chef feelings
but I suggest you get your device a Hard-SPL and flash some roms and see which one is the fastest -- I flash one rom, get bored of it, flash another, then I think that the previous rom was faster and whait for a new version of it!!
as for roms with TF3D 2.... there are a lot of them just open a thread for a rom and find the manila version in the threads first page -- Rom chefs usualy post manila info in first few posts!!!
not based on TF3D --- I dont really know, but I think that WM6.5 Roms have a different UI --- but you can always turn off manila and install a different UI like SPB mobile shell (I like TF3D moore!!! )

Understand that, perhaps you could recommend via message if you want to!
Concerning HSPL: I don't really understand what this is? Do I have to change my HSPL before flashing?

A lot of roms out there worth recommending but this depends on what you are looking for, i.e. WM6.1 or 6.5. A Lite or Heavy rom (i.e. amount of software on rom) etc etc. Best advice is to read up on each and install them and make your own opinion on each.
Read this guide on how to flash roms
As for manilla versions. At the start of each rom thread it will give you this information. Most new roms are based on either manila V2.0 or V2.1. V2.5 hasn't just come out yet on any roms, though I know a number of cooks are working on them for new roms.

You will need HSPL or USPL on device before you can flash any cooked rom.
The difference between USPL and HSPL:
HSPL is an user-modified SPL that you have to flash to your phone. It overwrites the existing SPL on your device with a "hacked" one so to say. It allows you to bypass the HTC certificate check and flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone. You only have to flash it once and then you can flash roms anytime.
USPL is a temporary solution. It takes advantage of an exploit in the existing SPL and then loads a modified one to memory, effectively allowing the same thing as HSPL. However, since this is only memory-resident you have to do it each time you want to flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone, because this exploited state is lost upon reboot. With USPL you must still have the right version of the HTC SPL that is compatible with the rom you want to use.

I'd be surprised if the phone is worth much in 10 years, but yes you can undo HSPL. You will need to restore stock SPL.
Read USPL3 in this thread. Will restore SPL to stock 1.54.0000

I'm new to this and need held about updates

Everything you need to know about upgrading or flashing a Windows Mobile OS will be found at the link below. It also has other areas about the phone for you to look at.
Herald Wiki and Guide
and when you are done with that, you will be able to find Cooked ROMS (also known as Custom ROMS which are made by other users) at the link below.

Windows 6.5 or 7

Can anybody tell me how i can get WM 6.5 or 7 on my HTC Touch Diamond?
Where do i find it and how do i install it? I currentlly have WM 6.1
Thanks!!
Someone would tell you to use the search engine, but im also new on this board.
Windows Mobile 7 is not released until now. Windows Mobile 6.5 or 6.5.5 you will get on this board. Its important that you save your Files from the Phone before you flash it. Its also important to have .Net Framework 3.5 on your PC or you will get an error from RomUpdateUitility in Windows. I had this problem yesterday when i was flashing in WinXP and i tried a new installation. Get the installer from the Microsoft Hommepage: microsoft. com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6
IMPORTANT: You have to erase the space between microsoft and .com. You have to do is at ervery link i posted. Because its not allowed to post links for new members like me and so it works only this way.
Now you need HardSPL, a bootloader, from here: forum.xda-developers. com/attachment.php?attachmentid=93362&d=1213719705
I installed this version yesterday, its unsigned but it works.
Here you have a howto to flash HardSPL, Radio and Rom: modmydiamond. info/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=4&id=13&Itemid=26
Then you can flash your Radio to a new Version, get it from here: rapidshare. com/files/353046193/1.17.25.09-SR.rar.html - this is the newest Version i have found, but if you have Problems with it use 1.09. Users on board say thats the best one (but older): megaupload. com/?d=JRJVNC4U
And now what you really want, to flash a new Rom. Its works the same way like HardSPL and Radio flashing. You will get a lot of roms with WM 6.5.x on this board, but you have to look. The are all a little different. Here some examples:
forum.xda-developers. com/showthread.php?t=517300
i dont have use this but i try to flash it today
forum.xda-developers. com/showthread.php?t=635028
is see it now for the first time.
forum.xda-developers. com/showthread.php?t=648771
Finally you will get all this Roms here by searching the board:
forum.xda-developers. com/forumdisplay.php?f=430&order=desc
If there are questions, reply in this thread and i will answer in time.
Hope i could help you and sorry for my bad english
The Diamond is not have the hardware to support 7. Plain and simple. There are countless of ROMS available on the board... http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=430
But becareful as the roms don't work for both GSM and CDMA. Do some research.
These steps that you have to do:
1.Do hard spl 1.93 by olinex. (do MTTY also if you can)
2.I flash more than 5 wm6.5 ROM, This is the best http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593678.
3.Do hard reset after flashing any ROM. Flashing ROM will DELETE all your data.
Wm 7 has not been released, But if you want wm7 theme, check this out http://www.mobilecustom.fr/forum/index.php/topic,4007.0.html. Good luck:

Go to HTC Diamond section. U can find everything there.

"Start" and "OK" in the bottom on WM 6.5

I have HD2 WM 6.5
I want to have "Start" and "OK" buttons in the bottom, like it`s on WM 6.5.3 (appearance of WM 6.5.3)
Is it already possible ? Maybe by some kind of app or theme?....
Thank you
No it isn't possible. You need a Custom Rom or an update to WinMo 6.5.x.

Please advise where can I find stable Custom Rom (Russian) or how should I update it to WM 6.5.x. ?
I`m just a simple user, so I appreciate if you can send "step by step" instruction how I can install it.
Thank you
If you just want the buttons on the bottom for the sake of it, and are otherwise happy with your current rom, but you have no idea how to do that, I suggest you refrain from flashing a custom rom.
If you really want to do that anyway, go here, and look for both the "flashing for noobs" guide, and search for thread with [ROM] [Russian] in the title. Artemis rom is one of them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612580
There is plenty of information here for us to give you step by stel instructions
