Can anybody tell me how i can get WM 6.5 or 7 on my HTC Touch Diamond?
Where do i find it and how do i install it? I currentlly have WM 6.1

Someone would tell you to use the search engine, but im also new on this board.
Windows Mobile 7 is not released until now. Windows Mobile 6.5 or 6.5.5 you will get on this board. Its important that you save your Files from the Phone before you flash it. Its also important to have .Net Framework 3.5 on your PC or you will get an error from RomUpdateUitility in Windows. I had this problem yesterday when i was flashing in WinXP and i tried a new installation. Get the installer from the Microsoft Hommepage: microsoft. com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6
IMPORTANT: You have to erase the space between microsoft and .com. You have to do is at ervery link i posted. Because its not allowed to post links for new members like me and so it works only this way.
Now you need HardSPL, a bootloader, from here: forum.xda-developers. com/attachment.php?attachmentid=93362&d=1213719705
I installed this version yesterday, its unsigned but it works.
Here you have a howto to flash HardSPL, Radio and Rom: modmydiamond. info/index.php?option=com_content&task=category§ionid=4&id=13&Itemid=26
Then you can flash your Radio to a new Version, get it from here: rapidshare. com/files/353046193/1.17.25.09-SR.rar.html - this is the newest Version i have found, but if you have Problems with it use 1.09. Users on board say thats the best one (but older): megaupload. com/?d=JRJVNC4U
And now what you really want, to flash a new Rom. Its works the same way like HardSPL and Radio flashing. You will get a lot of roms with WM 6.5.x on this board, but you have to look. The are all a little different. Here some examples:

The Diamond is not have the hardware to support 7. Plain and simple. There are countless of ROMS available on the board... http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=430
But becareful as the roms don't work for both GSM and CDMA. Do some research.
These steps that you have to do:
1.Do hard spl 1.93 by olinex. (do MTTY also if you can)
2.I flash more than 5 wm6.5 ROM, This is the best http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593678.
3.Do hard reset after flashing any ROM. Flashing ROM will DELETE all your data.

ok hopefully someone can tell me what i'm doing wrong if anything. . . I previously installed touch-it v2.3 with no problem but i have tried at least 15 times to put the touch it full version and have no luck. I'm lost. I even went back and did the v2.3 again and it worked fine. any ideas? I am using ruu version 4.26.531.1, i am installing aserg then soft reseting then running 1__UPGRADE_ROM.bat . . . then when i hard reset it gets stuck on the t mobile white screen. driving me nutz!
Is Ur Device Hard Spl'd?
HardSPL doesn't really mean anything in this case, because he's using aserg's method to try to flash.
My advice- don't flash this rom. get a newer rom that uses HardSPL/USPL. It'll also be wm6.1 (shiny shiny). PDOCwrite (asergs method) is kinda old.

Where can i get one of these 'newer roms' you speak of? also i tried to make sense of dougstoner's directions on how to hardSPL and call me a nub but i couldn't make sense of it. . .
This rom is really old. check the post dates, but the roms are numbered by version. Higher version=newer version. Aserg's method is what we used to use to flash roms back in the day before HardSPL (herald was weird in that HardSPL was released AFTER many people got it)
Anywhoo, for HardSPL, go to the HardSPL thread, read it over and then follow these directions.
There are 3 cabs. Install them in the order that Papamopps posted. Soft reset, and then run the HardSPL RUU (romupdateutility.exe) to HardSPL your device.

Alright my device is now successfully Hard Spl'd . . . thanks a lot! Now to find the newest/best touch it rom. . . Anyone have a link for me? I am using Touch-IT v4.4 stuffed atm
just look at the version numbers for the newest. Many people have their own preferences, but i feel that Open Touch 6.5 lite (no spb or tl) is just brilliant. But thats probably because i use it.
one question- is touch-it 4.4 wm6.1 or wm6? I'm pretty sure its 6.1, but i gotta clarify

mind my sarcasm...but he meant to say...to upgrade your device without damaging it...you will need to follow some instructions....and if you read it well and if you are a sane guy...then you would atleast EDIT your POST and remove the god damn IMEI of your device....people dont give away their IMEI jus like that you know...its something only you should know...and jus so you know...i m not trying to piss you off cos you are as we call a newbie....so here is a breakdown of what you need to do
1. your device is an ELFIN...so we know
2. jus like you unlock your sim to use your phone...you need to unlock your device...(so that it becomes writable)
3. to do so...you would need to make use of a part of software called USPL and IPL...USPL does the part of keeping your device unlocked...and IPL needs to remain the same series....if you flashed a USPL of 3.XX then your IPL shud be 3.XX series
4. now do the reading on your own this time and discover all flavours of 6.5 ROMS available here....
btw i wonder why you havent tried the official 6.1 ROM from HTC

Tht's a good thing to backup your Original ROM, should be helpful in case of errors, bricking or re-servicing. (though i forgot to do mine )

There's is no problem about being not rewritable or sort! Once you CID unlock and upgrade your IPL/SPL, you can upgrade or degrade your device to any ROM you like whenever u like!
About opinions, there are alot of people here and would obviously have their own different opinions and so you will have too! I'd ask you to try out ROMs yourself and use the suitable one you choose. If you'd like to have a stable ROM, i'd advice you to use the 6.1 ROMs and if you'd like to have newer latest builds, you can go for the 6.5 ROMs (which have been optimized to their best stable by respective cooks). In the end, its up to you which you choose as your BEST ROM!
PS: Do read if the ROM is suitable for your device, in this case- Elfin and few FAQs posted out by the ROM cook. Respect others work and last but not least Read & Search before asking Questions!!
Thank you very much I finally upgraded my elfin to windows mobile 6.5 and it's awesome but i still have one more thing i want to make it read and write Arabic language without convert the whole interface is there a patch? I already searched about that and i found a file but it's not an application and I don't know how to use it. before that in my old 6.0 i downloaded an application when i install it, it solves the whole situation then i tried it with the 6.5 but the start menu won't open after i installed it so i formatted the ROM.

hi, first of all, the backup you have done is probably not ready to be flashed, so whatever you do, dont flash that again or u will brick your phone.

what he means is....you may brick the device with the backup you just created. so if you wana restore your original...which is the one you have backed up now...you should and can only flash that by making use of USPL or HSPL...search the forum for USPL and HSPL...and you will be given guides...
btw...you really like writing in bold letters eh...kinda makes us feel we are blind...

If there's the ROM you're lookin' for in the thread linked by jeremy, that'll be the original ROM
If not, you should CID unlock your device and flash one of these ROMs (WM 6.0) or you can even try other WM6.1 or 6.5 systems
Hey guys...i tried to install the software i told u about which i downloaded from htc website...but it didnt continue..it always breaks and give me connection error message...
but later i tried 2 install onyx again and it went fine...so am i now stuck with onyx and cooked roms?!!!

well..i've read the SD flash, but the problem is that the rom file is exe file not nbh, and secondly what's the stylus, sorry to ask for many question but i'm very new to pocket pc's!
Stylus is that 'stick' or 'pen' where you use for the touchscreen.
I thought there was a nbh version, that someone has stripped from the original.

When you as a question you're stupid for about 10 seconds, if you don't ask you're stupid forever. The IPL/SPL thing is regarding your boot loader. Doing a hard SPL is a great saftey measure that can be explained as you read about it. You wanna head here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358225 to find out more on Hard_Spl'ing your wing
The cab collection is a great place to start... great lil honey pot of cabs you can throw on your wing. Outside of there, it's a combonation of imagination, search engines, and making sure the app is 96 dpi/qvga compatible. Hope this information is helpful for yah

And I believe your O2 Terra phone IS equivalent to the Wing, BUT, I am not positive. Try to do some research on it before you blindly flash. If it is said to be the Herald/P4350/Wing, then flash away, and you can get your ROM's from The Wingster or on the forums here.
Feel free to ask more questions. The guides I linked you to are the best written guides on the forums, so you should feel very comfortable with them (thanks to Apreincher for writing some of them!)

6.5 = Windows Mobile 6.5 - More finger friendly, new today screen, etc.
6.1 = Windows Mobile 6.1 - This is basically what came with your phone. You get about 1-2 MB more free RAM with 6.1, but I recommend WM6.5 because it has better features.
Click on the links, and then click on some of the ROM's there, and watch the slideshows to see what you're going to get. Then decide.
Programs - All programs and data will be LOST when you flash a ROM. Back up your contacts/calendar/tasks/etc with your PC through Outlook, or use Microsoft MyPhone to save them wirelessly. For your programs, you will have to reinstall them.

1. DO NOTHING if you don't understand what terms mean. You may make your device unusable!
2. If you don't understand this: [TUT] Dummies guide: flashing 1.56+ roms [v 2.0] - [HSPL][USPL] DO NOTHING!
Please state at least your country, maybe there is someone who can guide you in your native language...

You should learn more and you'll figure it out for yourself...
And yes by flashing a new ROM(anykind of) the older ROM will be deleted.
The User Interface(touchflo, manila, sense, titanium) is, usually, included in the ROM, but there are UI instalable like any other application by cab. file(ex: spb shell), it's up to you to chose a ROM depending UI you like/desire, but again you should read more...
You should start by reading(very carefully) "Dummies Guide for..." from this section(ROM development).

As for your query, read the Dummies Guide thread. The second or third paragragh down explains how to put your device in bootloader. Check your SPL. It should state either SPL 1.54.000 or SPL 1.56.Olinex. This will tell you whether or not you have HSPL on your device or not, i.e. if 1.56.Olinex, you have HSPL. If so, just flash a WM6.1 rom
If SPL is 1.54.000 you will need to put either USPL or HSPL on your device before flashing a wm6.1 rom
All you need to do is follow the Dummies Guide and you will be grand
i.e. if you want to use USPL and your SPL is 1.54.000 go to step (USPL5) on post 3
or if you want to use HSPL go to step (HSPL2a) on post 2
