When I try to uninstall some cabs I get this "X was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs" How do I fully uninstall?
I have made sure I exited out of everything, also did soft reset after initial uninstall. Still getting this error. Also just to be clear these cabs are UI changes.
can anyone help?
this happens to me sometimes and i just install the cab again and it removes it, if it doesnt and has installed the app/tweak again, remove the cab again. when removing anything to do with sense always turn sense off 1st and use windows mobile UI then after you`ve removed what you want removing start sense up again.

well i have installed JGUI Phone Profiles Seriously .......
and when i try to uninstall from the remove programs it states the error---->uninstall unsuccessful as the program is in use, stop it first from running programs.
then i checked many times in running programs but it is never in the list, also i tried from add/remove programs from active sync.,,, same problem....
help .
uninstalling jgui phone profiles
try looking in the start up folder if the program has an entry there delete it and soft reset, then uninstall. if there is no entry in the start menu you may have to delete the entry in the registry, then reset then uninstall. if you need to use the registry method be VERY careful.

Make sure it's unchecked in the Start/Settings/Today/Items Screen
g-archit,
I had the program on my xda II but did not like it. When I tried to uninstall it i couldn't, same problem you have. The only way I could do is through a hard reset. I know it is a pain to reconfigure the xda and re-install all the programs but the phone profiles really bugged me.

uninstall instruction
1. uncheck the phone profiles named item from the list of start\settings\today\items\
2. do the soft-resetting
3. now you can uninstall it in the usually way: start\settings\remove
if you still get the error "cannot delete...." some file, like font, you can manually delete such a file now
sorry for any unconveniences
Hi all,
From some time I'm unable to properly remove any installed software, doesnt matter if it was just installed seconds ago or while ago. When I try to remove, I'm getting: "Some_software was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from list of installed programs?".
In fact, nothing is removed. I tried soft reset few times. Also, I'd like to avoid hard reset since its quite a lot of work. Someone maybe possibly have an idea how to fix it avoiding hard-reset?
thanks,
Chris
try to remove the program using Activesync. Maybe it will help you.
thanks
The only way to remove all the files is to ask the software developers for a list of files / extentions. I had this problem when trying out different software and found when trying to re install some, the re installation failed. After removing all the files, I was able to re install.

When you try to uninstall a program which has components running in the background you will fail.
If you make a softreset and try to uninstall it again, you will success.
Another choice to uninstall these programs: it seems totally defferent than the problem, but when I use vijay555's phone-kill application I can uninstall immediately those ununinstallable softs.
That's it.
It works.
Well after applying a couple tweaks to my KJAM. I have a problem now, I cant uninstall any program. I go to add remove and select remove it then says cant remove, do i want to delete from program list. I also cant reinstall the same app...unless i delete the old directory manually. It seems to me that it is some form of read only protection. any ideas ??
I'm getting the same error as well. I used to have an app on my Jam that would uninstall files and its better then the built in uninstaller. Right now i'm lookin for it but can't remember its name..
i got the same problem
Same here
I have had that problem as well. I have found that if I soft reset the device, then run the uninstall, the program is conmpletely removed without issue. I believe that this error is caused by something related to the program still running in the background.

Tried using ActiveSync to add/remove programs?
I too have the same problem and i soft reset to properly uninstall anything.
You can use SKtools 2.3.30 at http://s-k-tools.com/ to uninstall any program you wish to
works well? thanks for the suggestion
I tried to install Bandswitch except for some reason it didn't work so I tried to uninstall it, it said that it was not completely removed and if I want to remove it from the list of installed programs, but the app still shows up in the uninstall list and I try to install the latest version it says it can't since there is a version already installed, it also tries to replace it but gives me an installation unsuccessful message.
Is there any way of completely getting rid of this and then being able to install the latest version.
sounds like you might need to hard reset unless you speak to the developer of the app you are having problems with.
unless... try installing the same version again?

Hi. You can use SK Tools to uninstall the app, and also use Memmaid to delete the shortcut(icon).
No hard reset needed
Windows Mobile can be a ***** for uninstalling apps. Usually if there is a process still running for the app when you try to uninstall it you will run into trouble.
Soft Reset between using an app and trying to remove it. Of course if the app loads itself on Start-up this will be futile
In this case it may be a Hard-Reset to fix the isue. Sorry.

Agreed, if you are using the "remove programs" option that comes with the phone, its not good.
I use Memmaid and it always removes it completely for me so as mentioned give that a go first before a hard reset.

Are you trying to uninstall via ActineSync/WinMODeviceCenter?
Do it from the phone and install by copying your cabs to the mem card and ruuning the installer from there.
Then you won't have a history of installed apps that builds up with AS/WMDC.
Hey im having some problems my Hd2
Is there anyway of removing programs off the phone so that they dont
appear on remove program list. I have several programs that i just cant get off my phone.
And i dont want to factory reset.
programs that are there by default when you hard reset are built into the rom and cannot be removed.
i knoe im just refering to recent installs like cht editor and cookies home tab

Two things that work for me:
1) Use MemMaid...it has options in its cleaning cycle that can clear out junk that should have been uninstalled, it sometimes helps in these cases.
2) Run the cab to install the app (CHT or whatever) again...it will tell you it needs to uninstall the previous verison, then it will say it can't uninstall the previous version...just click ok and let it go through the full process again. It will look like it's installing, but if you soft-reset when it's done, you'll likely find that the app is gone, and it's not in your uninstall list anymore either. Don't ask me why this works, but I've used it succesfully many times.
EDIT: Also, for the future, make sure that when you're uninstalling (and even installing) apps like CHT that alter sense in some way, that you turn sense off beforehand.
