How can i uninstall JGUI Phone Profiles Seriously!!! - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

well i have installed JGUI Phone Profiles Seriously .......
and when i try to uninstall from the remove programs it states the error---->uninstall unsuccessful as the program is in use, stop it first from running programs.
then i checked many times in running programs but it is never in the list, also i tried from add/remove programs from active sync.,,, same problem....
help .

uninstalling jgui phone profiles
try looking in the start up folder if the program has an entry there delete it and soft reset, then uninstall. if there is no entry in the start menu you may have to delete the entry in the registry, then reset then uninstall. if you need to use the registry method be VERY careful.
ian

Make sure it's unchecked in the Start/Settings/Today/Items Screen

g-archit,
I had the program on my xda II but did not like it. When I tried to uninstall it i couldn't, same problem you have. The only way I could do is through a hard reset. I know it is a pain to reconfigure the xda and re-install all the programs but the phone profiles really bugged me.
Bohs

uninstall instruction
1. uncheck the phone profiles named item from the list of start\settings\today\items\
2. do the soft-resetting
3. now you can uninstall it in the usually way: start\settings\remove
if you still get the error "cannot delete...." some file, like font, you can manually delete such a file now
sorry for any unconveniences

Unable to install / uninstall software on Jasjar !!!

I don't know why i can't install any software on the jasjar. run the cabs but it doesn’t ask if i want it on storage or memory and only gives successful installed, but then nothing no app installed
If i go to the remove programs on control panel it appears empty so I can't remove any app either..
any 1 seen this ?
I’m trying this before a hard reset
I have had the same problem. First, I found it is better not to install the extended rom, i.e., after hard reset you need to do a soft reset before the imate cabs are installed on the jasjar (you will find numerous posts on this issue). Furthermore, I suggest you install most of the apps you want before you fully synchronize all your data. Also, I have installed almost all my apps on the storage card.
This way at least I am able to install any programs I want to.
However, I still find that apps will not uninstall (usually best results for uninstall for me were by uninstalling via activesync instead of the remove programs on the jasjar). I thus suggest that you find the apps you really need and desist from experimentation unless you are ready to hard reset regularly. Lastly, I have resorted to uninstalling programs by using a program to fiddle with the registry (like resco explorer) and removing files related to the program I am trying to delete. (Apparently this can be risky).
Hope this helps, apap

Cant uninstall any programs ??

Well after applying a couple tweaks to my KJAM. I have a problem now, I cant uninstall any program. I go to add remove and select remove it then says cant remove, do i want to delete from program list. I also cant reinstall the same app...unless i delete the old directory manually. It seems to me that it is some form of read only protection. any ideas ??
I'm getting the same error as well. I used to have an app on my Jam that would uninstall files and its better then the built in uninstaller. Right now i'm lookin for it but can't remember its name..
i got the same problem
Same here
I have had that problem as well. I have found that if I soft reset the device, then run the uninstall, the program is conmpletely removed without issue. I believe that this error is caused by something related to the program still running in the background.

Tried using ActiveSync to add/remove programs?
I too have the same problem and i soft reset to properly uninstall anything.
You can use SKtools 2.3.30 at http://s-k-tools.com/ to uninstall any program you wish to
works well? thanks for the suggestion

how to remove bad uninstalls?

i tried to uninstall ms voice command and it partially uninstalled but not all of it was removed. the icon is still there and when i click on it i can adjust the settings, but they dont do anything because part of hte software is uninstalled. how do i clean this up?
i would also like to know. thanks
I do have this problem with WM% cause in WM2003SE i hadn't experienced it..but there's a solution try MEMMAID to delete the remained shortcuts and registry records of bad uninstalled app.
Also you can have spb PLus to be able to boot the device in safe mode so in that mode you can uninstall any application without any problem
How to uninstall
Some programs need uninstall twice.
1 step
standard uninstall
when uninstaler ask:
program not remove completly, do you remove from uninstaller list - answer no
2 step
soft reset
3 step
another standard uninstall
4 step
if needed repeat step 2,3
uninstall completed

SK Tools have great functions about this topic. Try it !
By far the easiest way i found to do it was to navigate to Windows > AppMgr folder then remove the folder inside there that matches the program your trying to uninstall. Eg VoiceCommand
as well as going to windows\appmgr you should also navigate to program files if your doing a manual uninstall\delete.

Maybe its running in the background when you uninstall it/ or if you have it there (installed) in the storage card it creates problems getting uninstalled.
Try to close the program fully By shutting it down from the Task manager..With the task manager open
Go to MENU>VIEW>CHANGE MODE
See if any instance of World mate is running there.
If you have partially uninstalled it, try reinstalling it and perform a reset.
Try to uninstall it by going to Add Remove Progs. in the phone.
If the problem persists, try removing it thru the Add remove progs. in the active sync.
All the best.
You are right jeasbe. I have installed my Worldmate to my storage card. I'm currently not using any task manager program. What would you recommend? Is memmaid one of these? I also tried uninstalling after the soft reset thing just to clean that worldmate was'nt running but to no avail of success in deleting it. Also looked at the running programs before deletion just to make sure it is not running. I even accidentally deleted the list from the rmove programs, and the program was still there. Is there any way to manually delete these files thru registry?

Literally Speaking the best method still would be to DELETE the folder from your \storage\Program Files\world mate (or whatever)
Then perform a fresh Install, this time in the Phone memory.
Then go for a soft reset.
Do not open World mate.
The world mate shall be there in the ADD REMOVE prog list By now.
Go to add-remove progs and perform a Remove.
Hopefully this shall delete the traces of world mate from your Phone.
U can manually delete the folder safely from ProgramFiles\world mate (from the phone memory this time)
Before U try anything stupid I suggest..Please do take a backup...
I take risks with my Data coz I have it spread over my other O2Xda as well as On My outlook....
All the Best
If I have to unistall some program I use the MemMaid. These program really erase what you want.
Thanks

Unable to remove items in start menu

When I go to Settings~Menus....I'm unable to remove several programs from my start menu that I have checked. I think the programs have been removed, and I'm guessing that my phone cannot find the shortcut they originally pointed to, so it freaks out and won't let me remove it.
I can only have 7 choices on my start menu, and several of these aren't even installed anymore. Are there any registry edits that I can do to remove these?
Start by checking to see that nothing's running. Active programs will sometimes prevent deletion of their components.
Use a file manager to remove any links from Windows\Startup folder.
Try a soft reset before deleting the stubborn links.
Download ClearTemp and set to clear everything. One of the checks it does is to remove unused shortcuts from your program menus.
If that doesn't work, I don't know what will...
