Howard Stern on Android - Hero CDMA General

Figured I would share, in case some didn't know. I've been using Droidlive lite to stream Stern on shoutcast. There's a dozen channels on shoutcast that loop Stern. Totally free, totally sweet. A lot easier than when I had a bberry. Too bad I paid for an account at the beginning of summertime.
Sprint hero
Fresh 1.1
Nexus bootscreen
16g Sd card
Amon Ra 1.5.2.

Sweet, thanks for pointing that out, I have been looking for such an app for a while.

i used to do this online a while back, i found out its easier to just download them after someone caps the show and just move it over to the mem card and you are able to pause it and no commercials. u can use any of the music streamers though if you want to hear it live, i tried it with streamfusion like 2 weeks ago

Yeah, I never found too good of a download source. Be nice id you could record straight from streaming app in the phone.

didnt his co host just try and kill him self the other day ??? whats his name artie or somthing like that

I must have.missed that one. He's got some serious issues though. They said he was getting help.

Alex Jones is on shoutcast also. Listening to alex might actually cause some people to think and act like decent human beings and pay attention to whats going on around them, so beware. Listening to stern will turn you into a zombie. oh by the way, "tunewiki" does shoutcast.

yea artie tried to off himself, he stabbed himself 5-6 times i think, 3 were serious. stabbing yourself to death is RAW, i couldnt do it. but yea, i know people hate stern, i just listen to him purely for comedic purposes.

Wow, that's f'ed up.

I don't hate stern, just that to much nonsense will turn you into a....zombie. Was a fan of stern for years but if you haven't noticed we're being sold into slavery at a staggering pace. For real everyone should give jones a listen, and while you're at it visit a few good websites also... infowars.com, wearechange.org, liberty4free.com. Get your news from alternative sources like the drudgereport.com, mainstream media is there to lie to you and keep you in line.

Yeah no thanks, not into radical bs. Jones is a zealot who hates all but white Christian males. The world has enough issues without listening to fear and hatemongers. Those people prey on the poor, and uneducated. I use to listen to all that crappy when I was young, angry, and blaming everyone else for my problems. Then I grew up.

well unfortunately from your statement I know u've never looked into any of what he talks about. if u actually educated yourelf on the american gov's slaughter of millions, and the control they are attempting to get over allllll of us, not just white males, then u'd b angry to. just go to liberty4free.com and watch the documentaries on ruby ridge and waco, if that doesn't make u angry, then u sir are a zombie. Look up the article the info czar just release, he's actually advocating thought crimes! hello 1984, maybe u should read it. also watch "freedom to facism" by aaron russo. that would be a good start to your so called education. People who stand up for human rights are not radicals. the radicals are the ones trying to oppress those who do. "those who prey on the poor" u mean like the banksters who just stole trillions of dollars from you and I?

http://ic2.pbase.com/o6/54/14154/1/83230527.Hehstghw.PaghmanBeforeAfter.jpg kabul 40 years ago and today, yeah u should b angry.

Just make sure u don't miss american idol!!!

Not into that either, thanks anyway.

Case and point. Don't worry people like me are still here to defend your right to b ignorant.

You're a. douche, and know nothing about me. Go back to hole you crawled out of. I love how all you fanatics think people are ignorant, just because they're not into your radical bs. Mods, freel free to delete this thread, its been hijacked by an idiot.

Mods feel free to censor the most important thread on here

educate yourself please thats all I ask.

All S2 Applications development suspended... but...

As you all know, all S2 applications are freeware. That is, they cannot be sold for any purpose and it's stated clearly in the attached license file.
However, it's found some guys do repeatly sell them through eBay or their own websites. For eBay, I have to submit an individual email to eBay when a suspicious listing is found. That's really time-wasting.
Recently, I came across this website: www.iphonethemeforppc.com. I asked the website owner to remove S2U2, but he simply declined.
I'm totally sick of them.
So, I'll suspend the development of any S2 applications until there is any good sign of changes.
Anyway, thanks all for your support. Take care.
Update: 11-Sep
Got the reply from iphonethemeforppc
We do not sell S2U2! We offer it as an optional free download from our
site just as most of the other sites on the web.
When you purchase the iphone theme you will download a zip file that is
an html file and a Cab file with all the wisbar theme addons and a txt
file. This is NOT the S2U2 files and we do not sell your software. I
already said this once so get it straight!
We don’t believe in selling copyright software and we don’t endorse it!
Now if you want to know who I believe is doing it wrong look at this
site: http://www.web-resort.com/. They actually have it included in
their download package!
With that being said, We don’t have a problem re-wording our site if
that makes you feel better, but we are NOT selling your software.

But up till now, S2U2 is still posted on this website with screenshots & wordings like "Features"...
Here is the reply from another beggar at web-resort.com:
we are not selling S2U2 as it is a free application as stated on our
website.
Please read the part of our Warranty Disclaimer relative to freeware:
"...THIS PACKAGE IS DEVELOPED MIXING TOGETHER FREE SOFTWARE. BUYING THIS
PACKAGE YOU BUY THE "KNOWLEDGE", "TIME" SPENT SEARCHING FREE SOFTWARE,
PUTTING IT TOGHETER, "TESTING" AND FINALLY "FINDING A RELIABLE SOLUTION".

It's even worser that it's selling the whole series of S2...
So, I have to keep on suspending the development. Take care.
Update: 17-Sep
I must say thanks all for your support & feedback. I'll think seriously about every suggestion you've posted here but I have not made up my mind yet. So please forgive me for the lack of update of any S2 apps in the near future.
Take care... I'll be back...
Update: 3-Oct
I've just set up a website... http://www.ac-s2.com
I'm still waiting for some legal advice... so please stay tuned...
Update: 21-Oct
I'm back... http://www.ac-s2.com
Smh. This is terrible.
Oh no..
Some people really have no shame nowadays..
its really unfair that pple try to sell someone elses hard work....
but isnt there a copyright issue??? iphonethemeforppc cant just say no cuz its against the law
Too bad XDA doesn't have a pro-bono lawyer for **** like this.
Very bad News. :-(
I love your Applications
But on other side i understand your handling. It's hard work from you and other make the money.
For anyone who is doing this.. you should be ashamed. I hope if anyone finds these people in these forums to ban them and their IP.
Sad
Well, this is really sad, you had really something !
But I understand...
there must be a way to pursue them.. after all it's your product
i really hate those basta*d who make money on this great app. what a shame.
a_c, how about starting to commercialize s2 series? i'll buy lisence from you.
Banning is not enough. Anybody remember how Jay and Silent Bob handled the negative movie reviews?
**Music***How many people wanna kick some @$$***Music**
I make light of the subject, but really. If you're douchebag enough to steal someone else's work and sell it as your own, you deserve nothing betther than to have the 5#17 kicked out of you. No stupid sentencing, no community service or refund money, just hefty fines and ass-whoopin's. Simple as that.
This is ****. Many people do not remember what they havoc with what they do. But thank you for everything and I hope you change your mind yet.
hope this idot seen what he's done what is wrong with these people...sorry to see that you have stop A_c ....you made such great apps. for us ,now some jackass killed it .Hope he gets sued by some customer that comes accross a bug that i know he can't fix
BTW i noticed that the price is in $US again with the americans looking to make an easy buck... samething happened in the hearld fourm a while back with the touch IT roms and the guy apologized for doing it.... WTF how sorry can you be when your counting the money you made off someone elses work to hell with these guys ****ing basterds

+1 for this..
thanks for all You hard work A_C. I was really hoping for future developement of Your s2v app, but it is Your choice and I respect it.
see... this is situation without solution to be honest. If You would decide to sell Your apps, then they would become even more populare on warez sites.
crap. hopefully in next few weeks/months some failure @ CERN will put a definitive end to all this madness.

bro
Is this guy trying to sell crack copies of wisbar as well? if so lakeridge software may also have something to say about his $10 offer.
Thanks AC for all you've done, don't let the fools get you down, it's just because your work is so damn good!

Thank You Devs Week!

Thank You Devs Week.
Recently, I've been seeing lots of moaning around ROMs, and I wanted to do something that means we can all give something back to us.
Devs work very hard around the clock for us, and sometimes it's easy to just moan and moan about bugs, feature requests, or asking for ETAs.
So, this week, join us to celebrate all the hard work that devs do for us and THANK YOUR DEV!
What Can I Do?
We want you to get in touch with your dev, by Twitter, email or PM, and tell them why you love their ROM so much.
These are email addresses that devs have sent us so far so that you can thank them:
None yet
Devs please email max(at)maxmarroni(dot)co(dot)uk if you have an email addy you want to add to this list. Make sure to include the device subforum so we know which post to add it to.
You can also tweet about the campaign to @thankyoudevs or #thankyoudevsweek
We need a logo!
If you're good with photoshop etc, we need a groovy logo and a graphic to go in people's signatures with something like 'I thanked My Dev!' in it. Email max(at)maxmarroni(dot)co(dot)uk if you're interested.
And Finally...
Thank you for supporting this campaign and I hope no devs get inundated with thousands of emails
Happy Thanking your Dev!
Sychophants-r-us
Cor! yeah! I'll have some of that!
I've created a site called sycophantsr.us where you can all add your dev-greets!
Sycophants-R-us: English Chapter.
Dave and Sam's plans for us all to 'hug-a-hoody' kind of disappeared didn't they? I suppose old Cleggy put him off a bit.
But, no worries fellow sycophants! Thank-a-Dev-week really kicks off after work today. We, (well, we the English Chapter of SRU, that is), will all be meeting up in Guildford. The plan is to swoop on Chunky-Dev. He usually lurks as Sys-Admin on the Industrial Estate there.
After a few hug-a-chunks we'll feel bloody good about ourselves won't we? And it's all back to the Groveller's afterwards. Last one in buys the Chianti Classico!
See you there everyone!
P.S. Full details on the website http://www.sycophantsr.us - yesterdays non-linking error now corrected
lol im there croques
Reminder Sycophants-R-us
Guildford cattle market 6.30 sharp. Yes it's tonight for the Hunky-Chunky-Dev Swoop Group meet. Be there or be square.
i missed it.
good turn out?
Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day
Dishy Dev of the Day
Well folks, those of you in the English Chapter that attended the do at the Grovellers, in Guildford last evening, had a super time. I was so pleased we all managed to fit in. Mario had bought in a few extra bottles of Chianti Classico as requested. I'd told him we would all be coming 'en masse' and to expect, at least, 100+. He was right though; the two extra bottles <em>were</em> enough.
Anyway, I just know our chunky-hunky-dev enjoyed all the man-hugs you gave him - and those from me too - (you can see he's pleased in the picture I took). I lingered in the hug a little longer than normal; I summoned up all my courage and pressed quite close! I decided I quite like man boobs, don't you? Well, no probably, you more than likely being a fella; you most likely don't. On the other hand though...
But to continue... it was strange, no-one sat close to him all evening. I guess, being a code-monkey, he's one of the Great Unwashed and whiffs a bit. You know what I mean? But I couldn't be sure though; I'm having trouble with my sinuses at the moment and tend to snort snot sideways and everywhere.
I'm sorry! Was that too much information?
No-one mentioned any odd smells and the evening passed just fine. Folks tended to drift away after about 7'ish as they had something else scheduled. My, what busy lives you all lead! Phones were hot with all those diary entries I could see being made. Someone was going on about an app that can ring your phone whenever you want. What would be the point of that? Daft if you ask me.
But I missed most of the conversation, such as there was, as I was making peace with Mario. He said I'd promised 100 guests, when I done no such thing. I know how difficult it is for members in these stricken times. Travel costs are so high now, aren't they? Some had come from as far away as Shalford! Thanks for all that effort! You know who you are; I won't embarrass you by naming names. But it was a shame when you had to leave very early-on so as to get back, as the lights on your bike had broken. But, as I say, I think the evening passed off very well.
Well, apart that is from that slightly unpleasant moment when someone flashed their phone in Hunky-Chunk's face and asked "can you beat that then?" Clearly the phone in question was not loaded with his ROM. Well, I know for a fact it wasn't his ROM. As it all seemed to be working fine; with no lag or anything. And I could clearly see the GPS had a fix, even indoors as we were. I think it might have been He-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named's ROM. He went purple for a moment; puce even; I thought for a moment the game was up and we all were going to get a tougue lashing. Asperger's and Tourrettes together is quite a burden for one boy to carry isn't it?
But he was easily distracted by someone breaking a glass behind him. He's known to have the attention span of a gnat on a Summer's evening buzzing back to places already visited. (It's the limited attention span that gets the bugs in the code you know - but I'd better not dwell on that, had I?)
Now, as it happened, I had the time to ask our Hunky-Chunk your questions over breakfast this morning. Oooh! I really ought to re-phrase that ... as nothing happened. No. Nothing.
I tell you - nothing at all happened. Well here's what did happen... after polishing off the two bottles of Chianti between us, he was a bit legless and I thought I'd better see him home. Despite me promising him I was going to make him famous as my latest toy-boy. And telling him that between us we could re-populate Passchendaele. And handing over a purse full of Viagra. He was as limp as a filleted cuttle fish in a wheelchair on an outing to Lourds. I don't think he had a clue as to what was on offer! If he did, he certainly didn't want it. No, and I wasn't put off by the frilly underwear either; I'd have been willing to give it a go. I tend to wear the plainer style with a larger gusset myself, but hey-ho.
I suppose I've lost some of my allure since I stopped colouring my hair and become menopausal - well long since really. And so what? I've developed a few 'laughter lines'. And the flesh sags a bit where it didn't used to. We all have to face up to age catching us up eventually. It's a cruel, cruel World, isn't it? But I digress... and what am I waffling on about?
Without more ado - let me announce our Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day!
He's asked me not to reveal his real name or screen-handle(s) as he might want to get a proper job one day and doesn't want all this tosh obscuring his resume. I can understand that.
But he's one real Hell-of-a-Fella and a Dishy-Chunky-Hunky-Dunky-Dev I can tell you.
Here he is:
[edit] Picture Removed - he didn't like this one either [edit]
isn't he a sweetie? And he's really nothing like the villain he's made out to be.
I knew you wouldn't be disappointed. Actually, it isn't the photo I took. He wouldn't let me use that. (I thought it was we women who were supposed to be vain.) But he gave me a picture of himself taken before all that lard loaded, and insisted I use that. So there you go; a little fishy, wishy-dishy, picture instead.

And tomorrow night...
I can confirm that 'Thank You Devs Week' bravely continues despite the lethargy displayed by last evening's poor attendance. I only received one apology. Shame on the rest of you.
I'm not sure what's got into you all. I know that a woman discussing things about blokes bits and the like in today's 'Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day' isn't really the social norm. But hey, times are a changing.
All you little introverts out there can really help push the social barriers on a bit. So don't be frightened - just join in and do your thing! Brown-nose a bit if you want or just listen to others doing it. So, OK, maybe you've just got to reload that ROM and perhaps your social skills do need honing a touch; but you've got to get your head out of that phone at some time - do it now! Please come and join us! If you want some tips on brown-nosing, 42TurkeyTwizzlersInOneSitting has written a how-to. You'll find it on the web site. It's an invaluable primer for getting to the top in todays world of business.
Anyway, let's get on to tomorrow's Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day.
Who could it be?
He bravely battles the booze; he's bright but boring; he's a big bad bastard and he's BANNED!
Know who it is yet? Make sure you join Sychophants-R-Us to get the full low-down in tomorrows edition of Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day. Remember to pm 42turkeys to join!
PS No Swoop Group meet on this one; (I want to see if I can get the bastard on my own this time).
Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day: Failure report
Well fellow member of sycophats-R-us. I have to report abject failure. It's not often in my life that something gets the better of me. But it happened last night.
I was all pimped-up to the nines, badly wanting to make a good impression. I even had my heels on, I haven't worn those in ages... and the body-shaper... like Trish & Suzanna wear. It had pulled me in nicely so I really thought I might too, at last.
Anyhow to continue my report, I finally managed to get some sort of GPS fix from the 4/11 satellites being received on my phone and eventually found my way to where our Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day lived.
I successfully parked the car... it took a while though. I only put a small dent in the door of that Audi A8; I don't 'spose they'll notice. But I did need to find another space somewhere else just to be safe. And it was that that took the time.
Neasden is such a dump isn't it? I found the house and decended the very worn steps to the basement flat. Paint was peeling off everywhere. And it stunk to High Heaven of cat pee. You know what? Irony of all irony; do you know what the house and flat number were? Flat 26, 32 Carper's Crescent. Well! I ask you. How close is that to all the brouhaha over kernel 2.6.32; did he have it or didn't he? Well, specially for you, my SRU reader, I was going to find out. But between you and me I don't for a moment think he really did have that code. But I was going to ask him anyway. I thought he'd tell me afterwards.. you know... in that dreamy time after copulating... or whatever you young boys call it these days.
I knocked on the door and waited. And waited. I waited. And I waited. I would have phoned him but what with all the GPS use, the battery had died.
My ROM Dev say two hours use is quite good for a Froyo ROM. I'm really pleased and love my ROM to bits; it's fantastic! I really, really appreciate all the amazingly hard work the Dev has done on my behalf. I always make a point of telling my Dev how great his ROM is even before I've loaded each twice-daily update... they like the feedback you know. Enough; I'm continuing...
I banged on the door again... rat-a-tat-tat, rat-tat. I was getting quite musically minded with beating out that rhythm; I had visions of drumming behind Mark Knopfler. Dream on Girl! Oh, if I could have my time round again.
But I was able to force my attention back to the matters in hand, and without too much brain down-time. Does your mind drift off sometimes? Mine's more off than on these days .. but I'm wandering again - sorry.
I knew he was in because I could smell burnt cabbage via the Expelair in the window. And I'd already texted him and told him to expect me around 8. It was a few minutes after sunset and the light was starting to go. I kicked the door a bit so the glass panes rattled.
Doing that set off a chain reaction I didn't anticipate...
I only had flimsy fashion shoes on so I'd stubbed my toe with all that door kicking. Naturally I lifted my foot to give it a rub. When I put it back down again the stiletto heel pierced the tail of next door's cat that was ingratiating itself around my legs and was probably responsible for the smell. The cat squealed like a barrage balloon with a million psi leak; I jumped in fright at the unexpected noise and stumbled backwards on those heels I've been telling you about; knocking open the door to the hidy-hole behind me in the process. The cacophony woke the fox hiding in the hidy-hole. He whooshed past me up the steps, sending the milk bottles at the top crashing down.
As I tried to regain my balance, I slipped on an old festering takeaway, (at least I hope that's what it was). I promptly fell-over backwards, well and truly into the hidy-hole; knocking over the bins therein and tearing my stockings as I went. I felt the gusset pop on my body-shaper; with skirt hitched even higher and with legs akimbo. All my assets were on full view. If you know what I mean?
Empty beer cans were rolling out from the hidy-hole everywhere. They mixed in gay abandon with the bottles cascading down the steps. Well, altogether it was all one hell-of-a din. And it woke things up I can tell you.
It was the people in the upstairs ground-floor flat that were first to be roused. They weren't very polite at first telling me to clear off, but they used that F-word I don't like; and they told me to ply my trade on someone else's doorstep. Anyway to cut a long story short I managed to explain what had happened. It took me three goes, but eventually they calmed down and saw the funny side. I'm damned sure I didn't. I still can't. But they agreed to bang on their floor - his ceiling you understand - and eventually I could hear cussing and swearing advancing up the passage to the door in front of me. I'd picked myself up by this time and re-pinned my gusset so at least I was decent.
"Wasshsup?" He called, standing behind the door and slurring his speech badly. I could tell he was three sheets to the wind. I poked open the letter box and peered through into the gloom. He was wearing just his vest and pants. His pecs weren't up to much but his tackle looked ok. Contrary to what all those spam emails say boys - I can tell you - girls don't care about size very much. So I'm sure all you weeners will be ok.
Well, there he was in his vest and pants; I say 'his' but they were so dirty they looked as if that had had a few dozen owners before. I could feel my desire level dropping markedly as that wave of deja-vu disappointment crept over me.
"It's me!" I called through the letter box, trying to keep my spirits up and sound cheerful. "I texted you earlier about an interview for my web-site."
"Web site?" He asked, still slurring like billyo.
"They've banned me... the bastards. Me?! The best ROM developer that'sshsever lived. Me! The bastards.... but I'll show'em.... I will ... I'll show'em. Basshtards"
I quickly decided I needed to steer him back to the purpose of my visit and try and put a stop to his burgeoning melancholia.
"I've come to ask you to share a few things with my ..." Before I could finish my sentence with the word 'reader', he interrupted, roaring like a wounded animal.
"Share?" "Did you say - SHARE?" The volume rose on the last word; even the questioning-lift at the end rattled my fillings.
"Are you bloody well taking the piss Woman?" He boomed.
"No Sir, I'm not Sir." I though it was a smart move to sir him and show much needed respect. (They're all the same these Devs - just so bloody needy. But I'd remembered the 'Sir' technique from 42TurkeyTwizzlersInOneSitting Brown-Nosers How-To). I continued before he could interject...
"Its just that my reader likes to find out about our favourite Devs, Sir, and we're having this special week called 'Thank-a-Dev-Week', Sir, and I thought you might like to share something of yourself with us, Sir - you know through my website." I gushed like a gawky-embarrassed-14-year-old on her first date.
But it was too late. I realized I'd used the 'share' word again. Not all the 'Sirs' in the World could undo that calamity.
Well, as you can imagine, dear reader, the game was well and truly up! Any plans I'd had for scoring that night were now zilch, terminated and kapput. Thank you very much and goodnight, as John Cleese might say!
Our Not-So-Dishy-Dev kneeled at the door, peering back at me through the letter box with glassy unfocused eyes. Peering back I could see the gravy stains down his vest. They had been smeared as he'd tried to wipe them away. I could see his pupils were huge, like saucers.
Sharpening up his gaze and giving me a quick once-over he made his decision. I could see his brain working; he didn't look that bright to me, despite what they say.
"Clear off you miserable scrawny tart and tell 'em all - I SHARE NUFFINK WITH NO-ONE... Bastards..."
And with that he got up and disappeared up his passage. I could hear him repeating the word 'bastards', muttering to himself as he slipped from view.
So todays Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day is He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named and he wants you to know he shares nothing with anyone and he thinks we're all bastards. I've interpolated a bit; please excuse the artistic license.

Now, I want you to know I played no part in his demise on XDA. There were things I could have said at the time but decided, quite rightly in my view now, not to. Just like any good SRU member, I always fully support the Mods. They do a wonderful job. Thank you Mods! (For anyone interested I've just casually dropped a couple of other methods from 42TurkeyTwizzlersInOneSitting's Brown-Nose How-To - i.e unquestioning support and gratuitous thanks.)
And it's too late to carp now isn't it? No one likes resurrecting old flames or re-telling the mis-fortunes of others. Especially me. And so I wish him all the best and hope he finds himself again soon. So, on a lighter note, there you have it folks! And look out for tomorrow's Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day coming soon to sycophants-R-us! Are you a member yet? Remember pm 42turkeys if you want to join!
(I do hope we can get a better Dev response next time - any other committee member want to try? And what news from the American and Canadian Sycophants-R-us Chapters? Wasn't there an SRU group starting in India too?)

Swoop Group: English Chapter. Away Game This Weekend
OK fellow Sycophants-R-Us members. We have our final Swoop Group meet coming up this weekend. It's a long one distance one this time, so bring extra batteries; I'm sure they'll be a long wait at the airport.
We are off to Hagfors! Flight leaves Gatwick at 13:10 this afternoon! So tell your boss you've got period pains or whatever excuse you boys use, and get on over to Gatwick.
Norwegian Airlines flight LGW-UME. But don't be deceived by the airline's name. 'Cos we're off to SWEDEN to Hug-a-Deliciously-Desirable-Dev and to let him know what his recent appearance on XDA means for us all!
See you all at check in!!
Sycophants-R-Us: Group Swoop to Sweden URGENT!!!!!
Where is everybody?
It's 12:15 and they're close to boarding the flight and I'm waiting in the departure lounge on my own! PM me to tell me where you are. Or better even, switch your blooming GPSes on so I can see your whereabouts in the SRU app.

SRU Swoop Group trip to Hagfors, Sweden
Well, thanks a bunch, guys. Call yourselves sycophants? Your not worthy the name!
And did you need to be so horrid? I'm only trying to get through 'Thank-a-Dev-Week' and have a laugh with a few mates along the way. It is our last Dev-of-the-Day outing so I thought you all might make a bit of effort. But what do do?
That was a really nasty video you made, Dave. I did manage to download it from YouTube and see it ok, thanks. It had a bit of a red caste to it with a few dropped frames - who's ROM were you using? And yes, as you say, that picture was the spitting image of me, but did you really need to use it? Showing a small photo without that big red highlighter circled around the wart on my upper-lip might have been acceptable. But that A2 size was a bit unkind.
Yes, as you claim it is 'a bloody big wart'. Don't you think I don't know that? But I'm waiting - just like Nanny McPhee - for the thing to disappear on its own. If it worked for her; I'm sure it'll work for me.
But what really hurt was the chorus you sang at the end. I can see you were all tanked up but that's no excuse really.
What was it? That last bit? "What do we wanno go to Hagfors with a warty old HAG FOR?" Of course you just had to shout that last bit didn't you? Then you all fell on the floor laughing!
You can be so cruel, David.
Got to stop now; the stewardess has told me three times to switch my phone off. They've closed the doors. More news later - if the batteries last!

Sycophants-R-Us: Traitors!
For completeness I'm going to finish 'Thank-a-Dev-Week come what may. And from what I know now about what you all have done - 'what may come' may be anything.
As I've told you before I don't like being beaten by the way events conspire. But I have to tell you, reader, (and if you think I'm going to call you 'dear reader' after you've all done you can sod-off). I have to tell you, 'reader', that my heart's not in it. Sycophants-R-Us died a little for me yesterday. Dave's video started it. But bloomin' well spending all that money getting to Sweden only to discover you all planned this together, has really taken the biscuit.
I'm just so depressed. I'm one hell of a mug aren't I?. I've spent a fortune; it's not like there's a Ryanair el-cheapo flight to get out here. No - it was a full-price scheduled flight I took, seemingly just to make myself look even more stupid.
I don't think I'll be able to hold my head up around SRU ever again. I imagine Doris, Mabel and Cecily will be casting pitying glances my way and smiling to themselves over their knitting while we play whist on the SRU coach outing to Bognor or where ever. Just because I don't knit and am a woman-into-phones they've always socially isolated me. I've always been an outsider with them. I didn't mind that so much because I could always talk with one of their husbands - that's one of you lot - about new ROMs and apps and stuff. I thought I'd been accepted as a kind of 'honorary man'. But now, you'll all be laughing behind my back too won't you? I don't think I can bear being an outcast any more.
And that self-styled Chief Brown-Noser, 42TurkeyTwizzlersInOneSitting - you know him - he's the one always playing pocket billiards whenever you see him standing at the bar. I know for a fact he's got very little to play with; Mrs 42TurkeyTwizzlersInOneSitting told me. And I'm not one to spread gossip, as you know, but using Twitter on my phone has been a revelation. The things you find out! And in almost real-time too! You wouldn't believe half of them unless, as I do, you knew they were true. 42TurkeyTwizzlersInOneSitting - is always very correct and proper when you meet him isn't he? Well... apparently. But he's really into spanking and bondage and stuff; like that Max Mottely, who was in the papers a while back.
His poor long suffering wife - that's 42TurkeyTwizzlersInOneSitting's wife not Max Mottley's - I don't know how she stands him. Well I do. She told me. She sends him off for 'funny sessions' in basement flats in London for 50 quid a pop. It keeps him off her knee though, doesn't it? And that's all that matters.
So why is he all the while so smug? He thinks he's the 'Supreme Sycophant' and that I'm beneath even his contempt. He started all this 'Thank-a-Dev-Week' crap that I've been struggling so hard to make work for us all. But what contribution does he make? A big fat nothing - that's what. Did he attend a swoop group? Like as hell he did.
What I want to know is... why does he always forget to adjust himself when he exits the toilet? I wonder if that makes him a closet exhibitionist as well as being into spanky-hanky-panky?
Many Devs are introverted-exhibitionists you know. That's what drives them. I know introversion and exhibitionism don't sit well together but it kind of makes sense. These Devs, our Devs, want to show off and let us all know how clever they are but they don't like mixing much with others. So they code ROMs in their bedrooms and wait for the adulation to arrive.
Devs like the word 'flash' too, I think. Look at the number of times they use it in their ROM release instructions. 'Flash this', 'flash that'. I believe it has subliminal connotations for them.
Instead of a real flash, you know, a widely-opened-proper-pervy-macintosh kind of flash, the sort that all we older women have seen at least half-a-dozen time in our lives. (And some of you boys have thought about doing, I bet). Well, in their minds - I'm sure they see it as surrogate flashing instead. They get their jollies in the certain knowledge that we're all loading their ROMs; at their behest; as fast as they can spin them. The real pervy-Devs sometimes release two or three ROMs in a day. I can only imagine they get very sore... if the adulation doesn't arrive.
And getting back to the point of all this; I'm still waiting here in Ulmea airport, Sweden. It 6:45 Saturday evening local time. I haven't eaten since having a rye crisp-bread on the plane yesterday; and I've no money. Well, that's not true. I have money. Just not the right money.
Because I flew to Sweden with Norwegian Airlines, I somehow got it into my head I needed Norwegian money. This'll be the icing on the cake for you lot. I've a 1000 krone note but no-one will change it as its too big! You know the same kind of hassle we get in the UK with £50 notes. So I've been doing some of the stuff Tom Hanks did when he got stuck at a US airport; but not nearly so successfully. I've tried being very feminine and helpless to attract a bit of chivalry.. It used to work years ago, pre-wart. but all I've managed to attract so far is the attention of airport security with a very stern warning to desist.
I won't tell you spending all night and all next day in an airport departure lounge is no fun; I'm sure you know that. What I will tell you is that discovering that everyone but me was in on this. That's the 'Me' that's been trying to jolly you all along. You know? This person; Me! The one trying so hard to kick some life into Sycophants-R-Us and Thank-a-Dev-Week. I only wanted to ensure you enjoy yourselves in the process of seeing that the Devs are thanked properly for their superb hard work on our behalves. They do a wonderful job you know.
It's taken me some time to realize what I'm doing at Ulmea Airport in Sweden. I remember full well the refrain - "Wha' do we wanna go to Hagfors with a warty old hag for?" So why am I here at Ulmea? Good question! And the answer came to me while I was wide awake at 3.45 this morning.
You all knew Hagfors wasn't on any major airline route from the UK didn't you? You only chose it to make a rhyme with 'hag for' in that horrid video. Didn't you, Dave? Didn't you? There's no need to answer because I've worked it out. When I phoned up asking if you knew where our New-Nordic-Swedish-Swishy-Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day lives you said you'd find out and call me back. I wondered why it took you so long, but you were ringing around the SRU Swoop Group and hatching your plan weren't you? It took me half the night to work it out. But I know. I know.
Our New-Nordic-Swedish-Swishy-Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day target lives in Gothenburg doesn't he? I've just looked it up on XDA. And you all knew that landing at Ulmea at 10:20 at night would put me hundreds of miles from Gothenburg with no chance of me getting any action with our New-Nordic-Swedish-Swishy-Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day. Even if I could have persuaded him to see the sensual woman beyond the wart.
Anyway just to spite you all I phoned him. He didn't say much. He's a bit embarrassed by his English pronunciation; although he didn't need to pronounce anything really. Apart, that is, from repeating what he learned from the video.
"What do we wanna go to Hagfors with a warty old hag for?" Followed by very deep-bass guttural laughing; that's all I could get out of him. I assume the video has gone mega on YouTube?
Well, I did say I was going to finish Thank-a-Dev-Week at the start didn't I. Just accept it's not as comprehensive as I would like but you pratts conspired against me and I really can't be bothered any more..
So, reader, our New-Nordic-Swedish-Swishy-Dishy-Dev-of-the-Day This is what I know.
Code:
Live : Gothenburg (Ed. NOT Hagfors ;) )
Enjoy : Schadenfreude (Ed. No. It's not a German wine. I had to look it up too.)
So here I am, reconciled to to returning to the UK hundreds of pound poorer, perhaps a bit wiser and feeling lower than I thought I could possibly feel.
Oooh! My phone's trackball has just lit up. Well done to my ROM Dev for getting it working! I'd really like to see the LEDs flash alternately too; I'll write in and request the feature when I get back.
It's a message from the XDA Moderation Team. It looks kind of formal. Hang on while I read it.
I'm too upset to continue now and you'll have to wait while I get myself together. Oh I do need a good seeing to!

Sycophants-R-Us: Banned!
Dear Croques,
Thank you for your letter re- 42turkeys requesting an update to his XDA-screen-name.
As we have made you aware earlier, the Senior Moderation Team, have not regarded your gratuitous use of sexual imagery to denigrate our male XDA users' self-esteem, in any favourable light.
You were also warned not to promote your own sexual proclivities or desires.
You were also asked to desist from promoting an external organization; namely Sycophants-R-Us.
You tell us that 'Thank-a-Dev-Week' has been - to use your words - 'a Turkey'. In that it had largely failed to attract any following what-so-ever. Neither from Developers or XDA users. Whilst that may be true, we have come to the view that your scornful imagery, seemingly at first reading sycophantic, actually is not. The ironic sub-plot is the absolute antithesis of your writing. Your real message is apparent to anyone with a Reading Age over 12. (We accept that excludes Sun readers). Hence we find your writing devalues everyone using the XDA Forums.
Your request to rename 42turkeys as 43turkeys whilst, semanitically mildly amusing, is denied.
Further, the name-calling and vicious flaming of XDA members is, as you have been warned, against XDA Forum rules.
We have regretfully decided to close your account on XDA with immediate effect. We warn you that any action on your part to rejoin with an alias screen-name will be carefully monitored and any such 'sister' accounts will be closed without notification.
Best wishes
The Senior Moderation Team.

[Off Topic] Autism Awareness Month

In honor of Autism Awareness month I wanted to share this. I know it's off topic but I truly feel it's important. Thanks in advance for giving me a few minutes of your time.
By now most of you are familiar with my personal quest to spread Autism Awareness from using my midNIGHT ROM or reading my Lost and Tired blog. For anyone not familiar with me or my mission I'll briefly share my story. I'm the father to 3 Autistic boys. Emmett is 2 1/2 years old. Elliott is 5 years old and Gavin is 11 years old. Life on the very best of days is a struggle for survival. My kids are AMAZING and I love them more then anything in the world.
The problem is that world is not always understanding. In fact it can be very cruel. The things I have heard people say about my kids or kids like them is disgusting and ignorant. Families like mine are very often judged harshly and unfairly by people unaware of what's on. There have been several occasions my kids have been referred to as "retards" by people in my own neighborhood. My kids may not understand what they mean, but I do. I can't explain the restraint I must show in order to not draw attention to what was being said. It literally breaks me to hear things like that.
My mission is to spread Autism Awareness to anyone willing to have an open mind and open heart. I want people to understand what life is like for my family and families like mine. My kids are EXTREMELY intelligent as are most if not ALL Autistic kids. They struggle in the area of social interaction and tend to have MAJOR sensory issues. Imagine if you couldn't help but hear EVERY SINGLE sound around you. Ticking clocks, buzzing lights, the whirling of the ceiling fan and even people breathing. When I say "hear" I mean these sounds are deafening and overwhelming as they have little or no ability to filter these things out. Did you know that's the most common reason Autistic kids to have meltdowns? They take in the ENTIRE world through all of their senses at one time and it is COMPLETELY overwhelming to these children. That is why they meltdown not because they are "brats" as many people incorrectly assume.
The way I see it is if people are more "Aware" of what's going on then maybe they can show understanding, support and compassion instead of cruelty, ridicule and judgement. I share my story as honestly as I do because I want people to be able to emotionally connect on some level. That's when Autism Awareness takes root and grows naturally.
I wanted to take a moment and ask everyone to help me spread Autism Awareness. April is Autism Awareness month. I ask that you show the same support for other families like mine that you do for me. Most of us have become isolated because no one understands. If you know anyone like that please reach out to them. Teach your kids to show compassion at an early age. You have no idea the positive impact you can have. I can honestly tell you that there have been some pretty dark moments for recently. I found strength in the kind words from people in this community. Please share my blog so others can become aware as well. Do what you can to remind people this is Autism Awareness month.
I want to thank you all for the making a difference in my life and helping to make the world a more understanding and compassionate place for my kids and all special needs kids and their families. I'm proud to be a member of this community and I look forward to working with all of you in the future. I would also be happy to answer any Autism related questions you may have as well.
If anyone would like to show support for Autism Awareness Month Johnny Bravo and I put together a banner. It's not branded with midNIGHT ROM or anything like that but it does link directly to my blog. It's not about a ROM it's about Autism Awareness. Please feel free to use and share it. I have attached the code.
Thank you for listening and thank you for support....
High five
good work
Keep at it eventually the whole world will understand

Rob you are an Inspiration. I look forward to reading your blogs. You have taught me a lot about autism. I wish there were more people in this world like you. It would be a better place. I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife and your 3 angels. Please continue to write on your blog and I promise I will do my part in helping others understand. I'm sorry for the dark moments you've been through but they made you who you are today.

You guys should read his story about shopping at the super market before a winter storm. I have known many people who have had wrongs done against them and live in poverty due to chance or because of what others have done to them. One of these people left a real impression on me and I probably won't be able to retell his story very well but this is what I remember.
Last summer I had serve some community service hours to pay for a scholarship I got from my tribe. I chose to serve those hours at the John 3:16 mission in the poor side of town. While I was there I cleaned up the areas where the homeless people slept at night along with several permanent residents in the mission. These people were called "students" and they worked to get off of drugs and take classes in theology and various other things.
Over the course of working there I had the unique opportunity of meeting a particularly abused individual who was in their program, I'll refer to him as Jeff. Jeff seemed cheerful enough and always loved to joke around about everything. I came to find out he had been abused consistently since he was five years old (he is now in his 20's). One of the other residents liked to joke around about the shape of his head then he told us without even a hint of anger that it was because he had been hit in the back of head with a baseball bat by his father when he was five. He would later tell me many other stories about how he had fathered a child with a woman who didn't care about the child. The mother ran off with the child and wouldn't let him see her. He later came to find out his child had died (I didn't ask for any details, he was raining tears as he told me about all this).
Eventually he decided to move in with the only family he had left (deadbeat uncle) who also gave him crap and frequently took advantage of his position. Eventually the constant abuse was too much so he left the town his uncle lived in, on foot, and walked all the way to Tulsa, (over 100 miles). Eventually after wandering around he found John 3:16 and began the program. I am glad for him and hope that others like him will find refuge there.
Having said all this I do have one issue I can't ignore. Many people who ask you for money only do it to be lazy (Not you OP) and take advantage of nice people. Let me give you an example.
I was at a gas station a couple months ago and a guy, (who made sure I wasn't looking when he snuck up on me), walked up and asked me if I support African Americans, (oh boy.....), and told me he and his buddy were out of gas and had no money, then asked me for money. He was close enough to me to be able to knife me and he had snuck up in such a way that out of fear (not compassion). I gave him my money. I didn't feel good about giving it to him and felt I did more harm than good to that man by giving him that money. Jeff never asked me for anything.
I don't know if you guys believe in God or not but one thing that we are always taught is not to judge and to help people if they ask for help. At the same time, I think we aren't called on to necessarily give people in need what they want but what they need. In the case of the guy at the gas station, I would love to do something to help him get out of the cycle he's in but I don't know how. I think that if you can figure out a way to help a person even if you do something for them they don't necessarily want, you have done the right thing.
Too often people are quick to misjudge the poor and underprivileged. I have had everything given to me in my life and have never really had to worry about basic necessities or dealt with real pain but having known others who were afflicted with disease or just bad luck, I know that I should be thankful.
Next time you have a chance to really help someone in need don't let it slip. Many people need the help and I know if I were in their position I would appreciate it.
Sorry if this appears a little unrelated to autism.....
what i do is when im at a gas station and someone comes up and says they ran out of gas and need money for gas. i tell them ok pull your car up to the pump and ill give you some gas. the sad thing is most of them at that point just walk away. they donnt need money for gas. they wanted it for drugs. im not gonna support that. ill help someone out but i dont hand out money. you know what i mean.
I support this message. I'm not usually one to support public campaigns, but Rob (ptfdmedic) is one of the most honest and giving people I have met as an Android developer - and beyond. The cause is truly a worthy one - 1 in 110 children are now born with autism.
If anyone is interested in donating to charity, please consider the Autism Research Institute. As noted by charitynavigator.org, they are the most efficient and highly-rated autism-fighting charity out there, and they support medical science in searching for a cure.
EDIT: Temple Grandin recently spoke at my university. I didn't get a chance to see her, but she's working on methods of greatly increasing humane practices within the meat industry. Ms. Grandin holds a PhD in animal science, and has been listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in the "Heroes" category. She gave a talk during TED 2010, has been interviewed by many major media outlets, and a biographical film about her won five Primetime Emmys. Ms. Grandin is autistic.
I will often spend a day off in my wife's classroom (of 7 autistic children, elementary aged). Any one who says these kids are retarded doesn't have a clue.
You know there's no easy answer to that. Shortly after I published that story last month I had someone at xda contacted me. He told me that my story inspired him and he wanted to share this story. He said that he was at a gas station and he was approached by someone asking for help. Because he had just read my story he helped the man out and gave him some cash. He proceeded to tell me how good he felt doing that for someone. He then told that the next thing he knew the man he gave the money to hopped into a newer Jeep and drove off. Turns out he wasn't really homeless. The guys heart was in the right place and he had a sense of humor about it at least.
Sometimes people are dishonest and by sometimes I mean frequently. When I was approached last month at the grocery store I assumed he was looking for drug money as is often the case in my experience. It was only after I gave him a chance that I realized there was more at work here. Honestly I was cornered and wasn't physically able to get away. I turned out ok for me but it could have very easily been a dangerous situation.
Always put your personal safety first. Thats the only thing I would suggest to do 100% of the time. My point was that you just never know. Many of these people have a story and many of them are good people that the world failed. Some aren't. I wouldn't want my wife in a situation like that.
You guys are awesome. I appreciate the feedback and the stories. Even if you don't give them money all I was asking people to do was reserve judgement because you never know what's going on behind the scenes, if that makes sense. But ALWAYS stay safe and be smart.

You know it took me a while to work up to watching that movie because it's really hard for me to know how cruel people can be especially to people with disabilities. I do have to say that after watching it I walked away with a much better understanding of my kids. That was a great thing to bring up. K0nane you never fail to impress me.
I really appreciate how this community has taken to this. It's truly amazing to me that something so unrelated to the general topic here can bring so many people together.
Thanks it really means a lot and it really does help. At some point one of you will find your self in a position where Autism crosses your path. Maybe your at a store or out to eat and someone is struggling with their child. So many people would jump to conclusions about the parents or the child. Maybe with what you guys have learned you could just offer them a few words of support or just a smile. I promise you it makes a difference...a very profound one. Families like mine are not used to kindness like that. Often times a kind word or an understanding smile it all it takes to make it through.
Thanks everyone

The actual statistics are 1/110 over all but 1/70 boys are diagnosed Autistic. That's a really scary number. If you follow the history of progression we're approaching a point where people that are considered to be "neurotypical" today will become a minority. I don't know if the human race has ever faced anything like that before.....

My wife is also a school teacher. I see autisms affects weekly and it is devastating to the families, but its amazing how so many of them are up beat about everything. Really shows how staying a family and staying close can help conquer all of the odds.
I'm a Sophomore in High School and my brother has Autism. I'm older than him, so I've been around it for my entire life. While I can't say I understand it(but really, who can?), I know I have a better understanding than most people my age. So many times I've had to listen to people ask me what was wrong with my brother and call him slow. I immediately correct them and inform them that he has Autism. I always have to explain what it is and they still never get it.
There have been many times where I've stood up for my brother and any Autistic child at my school. I don't regret a single moment or instance of it.

You are absolutely AMAZING. My middle child is actually the "older brother" to my oldest. He will most likely walk the same path you do. I never hear from siblings like you. Thank you so much for sharing that with me. You made my day.
Thank you.

Thanks for the link
I can (sort of) understand the attack on Sony after the whole GeoHot fiasco & wanting the i.p's of those who downloaded his keys.
But the later attacks on Nintendo and now Codemasters just seems to me like the gaming industry is being unfairly coordinated against as a soft target.
As things stand, they caught three chaps who hosted a chatroom, labelled them as the "leaders" of Anon in Spain and compared them to terrorist bands like ETA. We are not sure if the whole thing is a joke or if they really are so shameless to lie like that.
I read there was evidence on computers. The idiots may not be the leaders but they are part of if and I’m glad they got busted. **** Geohot. The guy can rot in prison for all I care. I have 4 PS3s a PSP and Xperia Play. I have well over 50 PS3 games on BR and purchased every one of them. I paid monthly for PSN Plus and DCUO and could not use either one thanks to those POS cowards. And they sounded gay in their videos. (so did Geohot, probably his boyfriend)
Evidence of what? Anonymous doesn't have leaders, it's a horizontal movement... and anyone with a decently configured Tor can run LOIC and "join Anonymous" in a DDoS. Heck, my own forum got DDoS'd the day before yesterday (260k open sessions, when we have only 350 users ).

I understand that you're angry because the attack stripped you from some of Sony's services (as it did with me) and it's condemnable as it is data theft, but we still don't know who the offenders were. For all we know, it could be the same people as the guys who downloaded that huge data mining torrent with 150M+ FB profiles. And besides, people who tinker with devices are more prone to give you further enjoyment of your device after sale than anything Sony (or any other device vendor) will do for you. The hackers are not the hacks, if you know what I mean.
I can understand wanting to mod there stuff but Sony has a right to fight back against Geo****. Anon had to start with someone. I read (not in the link I posted because I just linked the first one I found after I was asked for it) that they found Dos scripts against Sony servers and others. I also had to get a new CC and change all my CC automatic payments to the new card. It is more than loosing a service I was paying for.

What are you talking about?
Not sure why this is posted on the forum whatsoever considering it's nothing to do with the Xperia Play.
Because it has everything to do with Sony and the games I love. I wanted to see what everyone thinks. If you don't like it then don't read or post.
Simple as that.

That's not funny or cool to say. A lot of people that sound "gay" are not, and a lot of people that are gay don't sound "gay".
It's just as bad as the stereo-type that all Americans are fat, lazy and full of fast food.

They're not? Just kidding
But still, this topic has little to do with the xperia play. It's not a sony device, it doesn;t use services like psn. I come to this forum for xperia play for xperia play things and don't want to go through off topic topics before I find what I want (xperia play stuf). That's why me and others don;t want threads like these, even if we don;t have to read them.

Well, not ALL of them
I kid as well, I love Americans.
All Sony Fanboys will be 'Erked' at Anon and Co. After 3.21. No abilty to Run Other OS on PS3 'Erked' alot of people too.. Myself Included.
So when Sony Removed this option. whatelse is there to do ? Crack the System and Make these things accesable to those who want it.. Its Still a Minority.
So why be so upset about people Cracking Sony Devices .. Do you Feel modding/Cracking/Rooting/Jailbreaking Phones is wrong too ?
While i dont agree with the attack on PSN Network , to say Geohotz should rot in jail is a bit goofy to me . Was he involved in this attack ?

Lol people posting to say its pointless and bump it in the process... Oops
The topic was actually quite on top of the topic list in this thread so no/little bump. But you can make a point clear to users that topics like these are unwanted in these boards.

I'm posting this in Evo General and not XDA General, because the Evo community is the segment of XDA I'm the cosest to.
10 years ago, this day, this hour, this minute, our lives were forever changed. I'll never forget that day.
I was a truck Driver for Franklin Trucking, back home in Buffalo. One of our accounts was hauling parts from American Axle, and I was backed into one of their docks, waiting to get loaded.
It was a beautiful day, much like it is today. Sunny, warm, blue skies. The truck I drove, well, frankly it was a piece of junk. The radio didn't even work, so I sat there with the windows down, reading the paper, when suddenly, my phone rang and it was my Mother.
She was crying, and asked me if I had heard what happened. She then proceeded to tell me that a plane had flown into The World trade Center. There was a huge fire there and another had just flown into The Pentagon. She said that she didn't know what was going on, and I didn't know how take this, so I told her that I'd go into the plant. There was a TV in the break room, and I hung up and ran into a deserted facility. Nobody was in sight, until i made my way to the break room, and there, surrounding the 2 TV's mounted from the ceiling were about 75 somber people.
A live newscast showed a camera shot of black smoke and flames pouring out of Tower 1. Peter Jennings was somber as he reported on the event. There was no talk about the pentagon yet. As we watched, they turned to the Pentagon report with an inset view of the WTC when suddenly, another plane flew into the tower. Gasps of "Oh My God!" "Oh No!" and "What is happening?" resounded throughout the room as we saw the ensuing explosion, and we all knew at once that it was an attack.
In the confusion, and from the camera angle, we thought it was the same tower that had been hit and it was a good minute before it was confirmed that it had been Tower 2. The conversation then changed as we all began to guess at who it was, and even in that moment, we all knew it was Islamic Terrorists and Osama Bin Laden.
Most of us sat gathered around those televisions for hours, occasionally walking outside to have a cigarette, or to take a minute alone to try to maintain our composure. I remember that some people had drifted back to their work stations and were listening to the radio. At that time, Howard Stern was still on public radio, and most were listening to his show on the CBS News affiliate. Normally, his show ended at 10AM, but he stayed on the air that day until after noon. Several people on his cast had left, because of the fear that the tower they broadcast from in Midtown could be a target. News reports kept feeding us confusing information about other planes in the air that weren't accounted for. At one point, there was a report that there could be up to 7 hijacked planes, all headed for major US Cities.
Sometime after 2 PM, I was fully loaded and headed back towards our yard, downtown. there's a highway, Route 33 that runs into the city, and as I drove, remember feeling displaced into a surreal state of mind. Everything seemed so quiet and peaceful. Traffic was light and as I came into view of the city, I could see the HSBC Bank building, Buffalo's tallest, standing there in the sun. My mind pictured a plane headed for that 38 story tower, and I couldn't shake the feeling of dread that had over-taken me. At many street corners, there was a single police car, lights on. The few people I saw were obviously shaken by the days events.
I got back to the shop, parked the truck and went inside and everyone seemed to be in the same ghost like state. Although it was early, my day was finished. There would be no more loads as most places had released their people or had not not gotten a load ready for anyone to pick up, so I walked outside, in the parking lot, under the shadow of the bank, and just stared. Several people had walked up and we had brief conversations but for the most part, I was alone, inside my own mind.
It took a long, long time before I could stop staring at that tower every time I saw it. It took longer for me to question whether every plane I saw was going up or coming down. Those images and the feelings of hat day are seared into my memory forever.
I will never forget.
You could be a writer
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
thanks for the post.
Nicely done Greg I will never forget that day. :/

Thanks. Yeah, I'll never know a September 11th that I don't spend at least a few minutes in tears.
Great read, thanks!

We then turned around and killed 50,000 of their people. Who's in the right? before they attacked us, the first bush attacked them. They were flat out striking back the best way they knew. I'm american, but I don't let the government blind me. Don't let them blind you. Btw, I didn't sit around the TV for hours on that day. I was Enlisted and serving this country in a location where communication isn't the best. If all of you really opened your eyes, this country wouldn't have ever got attacked. If I was on the plane and saw it being took over, I would stop them at all costs. Lets just be glad it wasn't a nuke attack. then I'd be angry.
We truely need to get along with our neighboring countries and stop fighting over resources. We also need to stop using so many damn resources. Cut down a lot. I predict in the near future where this great world is going to run out and billions will die.
No need to reply to my comment in hate or agreeing with me. We all have our own opinions, just some of our opinions actually have facts behind them. :-D Now back to our evo phones. :-D you guys rock. :-D

I will simply state that I thank you for your service to my country, and that you don't deserve the hate that has been and will be brought against you for stating your opinion.
For some reason, people forget that the United States is a free country and that citizens are entitled to their 'liberal views', if that's what they so choose.
Nice post.
I remember that day more clearly than any other in my life. I was working nightshift at my previous employer at the time and had just gotten home from work.
As usual, I logged into a couple of forums that I frequented and happened to see a terrorist attack thread at the top of the first page. I opened it and went to the cnn link in the first post, said "holy sh1t", then turned on the news and watched coverage all day until I had to return to work.
On the way back to work, I recall police directing traffic around the area gas stations, since some had spiked their prices to nearly $4/gal.
Finally made it to work and to quietly watching news coverage with my coworkers. One of the strangest days in our history, for sure, especially against the backdrop of a perfect early fall day.
I still remember the feelings of outrage toward the attackers and sadness for the victims and their families. The one thing I do miss from that day is the patriotism and compassion everyone felt for their country and fellow citizens. It was really nice how everyone from all walks of life banded together in the following months. Too bad most of that has nearly disappeared.

They attacked our twin towers because we destroyed there's when bush senior was in office. Of course some don't remember bombing there city, killing their innocent children. It was a sad day in America, but if I may. Remember the 10s of thousands us Americans killed when we destroyed there towers as well. **** its only fair right?

I completely agree with you.
Except one correction, this was NOT a reply to the first gulf war, its a reply to the last 70 years of foreign policy.
We started this. We continue it everyday, even now.
I feel for all of the families and friends of those lost on 9/11.
Of every terrorist attack.
Of every war.
But we're not innocent by any means.
If we are truly "better" than others.
If we truly want to be "good" then we have to change.
I will close this with the perfect quote:
“For through violence, you may murder a murderer, but you can’t murder murder. Through violence, you may murder a liar, but you can’t establish truth. Through violence, you may murder a hater but you can’t murder hate. Darkness cannot put out darkness. Only light can do that.” --MLK

U r so wrong in ur thinking. Most of the people that actually were hijacking the planes were from countries we are or were on somewhat decent good terms with. The were radical Islamic terrorist. The things bush senior did played no part in it. The way the dictators treat their people over in Islamic countries is the reason we have have gone to war in those areas and what they have gotten they deserved. I am a grown adult. Went through ragain Carter both bush's Clinton and now the God awful Obama. I'm a hard core conservative Christian white male and know my politics. I know alot of the wars we have been in have been over oil but hey that's watching out for our own economic well bring. The attacks against the wtc was against normal everyday people...Americans, foreigners, Christians, Jews, Muslims, and many other religions. It was an attack against freedom and all that is good in this world. Your train of thought sickens me and I'm sure many others.

It is unfortunate that open discussion about this topic and opposing views are viewed as "anti-patriotism."
We are one of the most hated countries in the world.
We can't go 5 years without a war.
Even Canada dislikes us and has grown weary of our behavior.
I fear that nothing was actually learned from 9/11.
That it is just being used as a call for more war; for more murder; more death.
Anyway, this is my last reply to this topic.
This is not the forum for political discussion.
We should never forget those that were lost, we should make the change so no one else is.
Honor their deaths, not use it as a call for more.
