Headset Crackling Issue!!!! - HD2 General

Basically when people ring or i ring them they hear an awful scratching noise on their side of the conversation. I cant hear it but I ring another phoned and listened in, the more i talk, the more the crackles happen. Movement of the phone (i.e me walking) causes the crackles to happen.
This is only fixed if i plug the headset in far enough for both earpieces to work, but not as far as it can actually be plugged in. Would the Radio version have anything to do with it or do I need to buy another headset after just 18 days of use

ROM:1.61.468.1 (74237) WWE (the turkish one)

First off all try switching the headset. The headset has 6 months of waranty so just bring it back to the shop and ask for a new one. (ps: they can switch with one in a new box, just don't give up at the first try).
If that isn't working then flash a new radio but I'll doubt it.
It can also be the connector in your HD2 but for that the only solution is sending your device in repair

ok thanks for the advice mate. Hope i don't have to send it back but we'll see. I'm going to go to my t mobile shop tomorrow. would you recommend me flashing back to an old rom and radio incase they check it or should there be no need for them to do that.

no mostly the members of an electronic shop or mobile shop don't have that knowledge or don't get paid to check that
If you send them back to repair then you'll probaly be best to flash back a stock one, just in case...

Sound problem

There is no sound. I plugged in the head phones and i can hear out of that, but when i unplug it, i get no sound. It's like its still plugged in. Can anyone help me, or has anyone else experienced this?
sorry i have an o2 xda neo
Might be another instance of a known design issue with Prophet. Many people have hit this problem - mine did this and needed to be returned for repair.
Try putting the headphone jack in again and then out. Repeat like this for a while and your sound will come back on. If it doesn't, repeat faster.
This is a known issue where the sound disappears. Basically, a switch needs to be flipped for the prophet to know that the headset is out. Sometimes, this switch doesn't get flipped and the prophet thinks the headset is still connected, while actually its not.
If my solution sounds a bit crazy, it is...but its the only way and you don't need to send it in for repair. Search around and you'll find the same solution everywhere. People have also used a safety pin. But best is the headset jack itself.
How long mate? 2 hours? 3? I wish it had worked that way. I tried everything... still no sound. I think it is a crappy hardware. I think HTC should collect all prophets... I mean if it were a decent company.
Its just a little lower quality hardware, I agree.
If that doesn't work, try soft resetting. If that doesn't work, try hard resetting.
Its better to try all options before sending it in to the service centre, where it'll get screwed around and probably be kept for 2 weeks or something, due to "unavailability of parts"..
It is not working, removing and inserting again n again, some other method, i will have to try to open it, as it is not under waranty and it is also without bill, plz suggest me something
This seems to be a major problem with the HTC Prophet as a whole regardless of the branding. I have returned mine to Orange for a replacement, they confirmed that it was hardware failure. I thought that I might have just got unlucky with a bad batch, but looking across the NET and here, it appears that all brands based on the HTC Prophet are failing.
Obviously, shoddy manufacturing, I guess HTC did a little penny pinching with the speaker system.
I have same issue with my dopod 818 pro the plug and unplug trick did not work for me I have to send my to http://www.PocketPCTechs.com they have the device repaired for me now my device is back to business now..
I have the same problem here but i bit different... i was using an external speaker system, when i unplugged the jack from my spv m600 i did't get any sound the only sound i have is when i receive a call then i hear the ringtone but when i pick up i don't hear anything and probably the other side doesn't hear me...i tried to put the jack in and out but no results now i am obliged to use my phone with the headset...
same problem...solved!!
hi, today i had the same problem...no sound at all after i unplugged an external sound system. I plugged again the 2.5mm and unplugged it very fast a few times untill i got my sound back!!!

No Noise??

I have an 02 atom and it is having problems with sound.... It makes no sound at all when I select and click on things or make a call. It rings if i call it but i can here anything on the other end. I have worked out that if I turn on the radio function it then makes sounds when I click on things and tap the screen but as soon as i turn the radio off it makes no sound. With the radio on I still cant hear anything in calls as it turns the radio off when I dial. Any ideas?? Warranty isnt an option as i purchased it 2nd hand over ebay. If i need to reload roms can you p-lease give me a link as im completely new to this PDA phone business...
I had same problem....but solved it!
Sent mine away for Warranty repair, came back fixed... then it happened again in like 2 weeks.
BUT I found a solution
You need to use ur headphones and plug in about 2/3 then wriggle towards the front, i think it just a connection issue, and you can hear all things when the radio is on because the radio can play via the phones and speakers at the same time unlike all other sounds.

Hi I have same problem my phones sound has gone. I cant use phonespeaker and Microphone during a phone conversation. There is no sound from speakers when media playing and notifications, warnings. The interesting thing is its ringing when an incoming call comes. I can use the headset without a problem. Also bluetooth headset is working. I wrote to O2 support and they suggested me to do hard reset. But I had allready done it seveeral times and I upgraded my rom. Finally they told me to send it to Honk Kong. I am living in Turkey and its not a good idea. Can anyone help me?
Kind Regards.

Distorted calls through speaker after WM6.5 upgraded

Anyone else having this issue? This is a straight up legit T-Mobile phone with stock ROM and WM6.5 upgrade. I've noticed that calls through the speaker are now distorted, blue tooth clarity remains fine though.
Hmmm...no one?

Mine after the upgrade sounds fine
I've had the same issue the entire time I've had my Dash. Right out of the box I had distortion and a crackling in the speaker - i thought i might have had a bad connection on that particular phone call. After flashing - about a month agio, it's continued. As frustrating as TMobile makes me at times, I dont want to try to hash it out with them. I might reflash to see if that helps but I'[m afraid it wont

Could be hardware related, if the contacts are dirty or the speaker is not set properly it will crack.. could be a bad batch of devices.. get a new one under warranty if possible. I got three Dash 3G's the first day they came out and all three sound fine.
Finally couldn't take it anymore and took it back to the T-Mobile store. The new one should arrive this week.
Hi Rotagilla, would be interested to hear if the new one had the same loudspeaker distortion. mine does the same thing and has done from new. i just thought it was a crap quality speaker

The replacment phone just got sent back and I'm now on #3. The same issue happened again...calls started off very clear but then seemed to degrade to the point where unless I was using BT, the audio quality was terrible. I'm not upgrading the phone to WM6.5 at this time, I'm going to wait and see if the same thing happens again. BTW, the TMO rep I dealt wth most recently was excellent...really first class all the way.
Looks like the speaker will continue to be a last resort. BT seems the only way to get clear reception. thanks.....i dont like my chances with a replacement from Telstra. The only thing that disappoints me with this one is not being able to edit the menu items and not having the Voice Dialling tags. replacing it with the Voice Command is a quantum leap backward, otherwise a great phone.
Well the most recent replacement has started doing the same thing. I did not upgrade to WM6.5 and this one lasted the longest before giving in to the speaker distortion gremlin. Pretty bummed about this, guess I'll just have to live with it.

HD2 automatically make calls when use the earphone

Hello, I am not sure I should ask this question here, but please help.I buy a HD2 in singapore, I check the s/n and P/n to prove it is offical. But now I got a problem is the phone will call the last number of the call history out automatically when I use the earphone to listen Mp3 with Manila Mp3 Player. This happen when the screen is locked and turned off, and only when I use the earphone. I am using the offical rom with radio 1.66 which I download from www.HTC.com. It also happens to my frends who also use HD2. Is there any why to fix it? Thanks a lot.
No, this is hardware related and happens with an .. amount of devices. Another headset may solve the problem.

HTC Kovsky aka Sony Ericsson Xperia X1i
Ford Focus aka Honda Civic?
I have the same problem, just got mine changed..
I figured it was just me getting to some key or something, had the phone in my pocket, the screen should get turned off, but it does mysterious things in my pocket!...and when I use the handsfree it calls the last nr on the calls list, even last incomming call...
So HTC knows about this problem?
i have this same sh.t too..when i plug my 3,5mm speaker jack and start music tab then it goes crazy and calls the last incoming or outgoing call but when i unplug the jack it stops..any idea, any solution?
Ok, firstly, are you using the official headphones that it came with it? If so get it swapped. If not use the official ones.
After doing quite a bit of testing with this issue, as it has been bugging me since i got the phone, i have found 2 noticeable things.
1. As above using non official headphones can cause this issue but it's not just any clone headphones that it does this with. You will find more often than not this happens with cheap headphones. The gold plated ones stop this.
2. I use mine in the car to play my mp3s through the aux socket on my stereo and found that if i have the heater on to clear the windscreen this heats up my phone (as this is where it is mounted) it happens then.
You may also find that the songs start skipping through very quickly.
Also I found this started to happen less and less with the 2.xx base cooked roms as well. Whether this is coincidence or not I just dont have the patience to test.
Hope this helps in some way.

No sound from other caller on earpiece

Hi All.. I posted this in Energy thread in deveopment but I think it is more suited to be answered here... anyone please help before my friend defects back to Apple!

OK Strange one here - hope someone can help!
I flashed older cookie on to HD2 for a friend and took phone to her in Malaysia - all seemed well but phone was freezing apparently so her brother went to HTC asia site and downloaded a ROM for it! GRRRR
Anyway it was a T-Mobile rom or something with a '51' radio. Since then when she makes a call she can not hear the other person through the earpiece (but can through the headset!) , but CAN hear a busy tone if the person is already on a call when she calls!
So I flashed latest Cookie Dinik style back on and replaced the Radio with 2.07.50.** and still the same!
I don't understand how the earpiece can make the busy sound but not hear the voice, yet headphone works?! I have connected remotely and used MyMobiler to see screen of HD2 and looked for anything that may be causing it but all seems fine.
If anyone has any ideas please help as she is about to go back to an iPhone after just moving to this HD2 on my say so!

hmm thats an odd issue and I would be suprised if anyone else has encountered it :S
are you positive its the ear piece speaker thats making the busy sound and not the loudspeaker on the back of the device?
also have you tried swapping between loudspeaker and normal handset mode? does the call work in loudspeaker mode but not normal speaker mode?

Good idea with the loudspeaker mode - will ask her to check that. Can't see how a rom flash could cause it - hope it's not faulty hardware!
I had a similar problem with my HD2: I wasn't able to hear my counterpart. I have tried several radio/ROM combinations with no luck. Looking at the test results I guessed it was a sporadic hardware issue of the earpiece. Sent the phone off to service, they confirmed the problem, replaced the earpiece and shipped it back, all free. Great service!
Of course, I had to restore to factory settings beforehand, including the original SPL, radio and ROM. If the phone is still under warranty I would suggest you try a hardware repair.
