Suddenly I can't change my button assignments any longer because the list of available buttons comes up completey blank in System-Personal-Buttons.
What happened?
Mine is empty too (ROM 1.4.3)
Yep - mine's always been empty.
If you tell us what you want to do, it may be possible.
For example, an application shortcut can be renamed to "long_send" and put in the windows folder, and that becomes the action for a long-hold on the call button.
There's also other apps out there for defining button actions.

Can you *please* post a list with these shortcut tricks for the 5 buttons on the device?
That would be sooo helpfull.
As nobody posted me a list of these shortcuts, I just dug up (and reformatted) one myself.
Here it is for general consumption
Shortcut Usage
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C:\windows\long_camera.lnk Calls up Camera app.
C:\windows\short_Camera.lnk Calls up Camera app.
C:\windows\long_send.lnk Links to phone application by default (left-most button).
C:\windows\long_poc.lnk <...>
C:\windows\long_end.lnk Ends Call (and locks device).
C:\windows\long_home.lnk Jumps to Home screen.
C:\windows\short_poc.lnk Calls up CommManager by default.
C:\windows\long_power.lnk Turns Off device by default.
C:\windows\short_power.lnk Quick App.
C:\windows\long_pound.lnk Line Switch.
C:\windows\long_VolUp.lnk Voice Dial / Volume+.
C:\windows\long_VolDown.lnk Voice Notes.
C:\windows\long_NonCamera.lnk <...>
C:\windows\short_NonCamera.lnk <...>
===============================================================================================================================
long_* => Button is pushed down continously; short_* => Button is pushed down only shortly.
And another one I dug up in some remote corner of the Universe and re-formatted for easier viewing:

Create the above shortcuts by storing the entry from first column in an ANSI file with suffix ".lnk".
@Pharao The long_home doesn't work for me.
long_send works, but home doesn't. Did you try these on yours?

Enter your registry and go to:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys and add a new key, named "40C6".
Soft reset your device and go to System > Personal > Buttons.
The Long_press Send key is now configurable in this menu...
(If the key "Keys" doesn't exist, just create it and put the "40C6" key in it)

Why not use AEBPlus and save yourself the time to make all those shortcuts?

Because:
A) That would be just one more startup/background program running on my WinMo device, slowing everything down.
B) Each of those alternative "button mapping ways" always has the potential of causing some permanent damage to the system (and trust me, AEBPlus might just work for you, but I have seen pigs fly high on my WinMo device)
C) Its free of charge and one can create a shortcut in the Windows Folder in a lot less time than it would take to install & configure yet another WinMo application.
D) No PocketPC ever got bricked by just creating a shortcut in the Windows Folder

pretty good pints but:
a) AEButton plus isnt a resource hog
b) Pretty much everyone i know that is using it on HD2 hasnt had any issues
c) It gives you three times more configurable buttons because you can assign double clicks and triple clicks.
d) AEBPlus is free of charge too
e) It does more than just shortcut (info screens, task manager)
f) Takes a couple of clicks to setup, can just keep your .ini file for later restores, no fiddling with long command strings...

Well, I tried that program and it didn't screw anything up, but it also didn't work.
Plain and simple - it did NADA, ZERO, ZIP, ZILCH on my HD2.
I actually found that at least 75% of all WinMo "Tweak Progs" either have a real hard time tolerating each other being active at the same time, or don't like if you run them on a device with a custom ROM or other changes.
For all these reasons I am truly not in the mood (no more) to put yet one more straw on that camel's back (camel=WinMo).
A lot of the shortcuts in this thread don't work on the HD2.
This seems to be a much more reliable list: [TUT] Creating direct links to control panel items
I am looking for a minimalistic way to reassign/remap the windows hard key to start task facade on my hd2. The "put a short_xxx.lnk named file into your \windows directory"-method seems the most fitting for my purposes. Problem is that I have no clue what xxx must be in order to remap the windows key. Hklm/software/windows/keys gives no hints either. So far I have tried:
short_win.lnk
short_windows.lnk
short_start.lnk
short_pound.lnk
short_AP1.lnk
None of these wild guesses started the task facade shortcut. BTW this is my first post after a lot of reading on this Board and I am impressed by the good spirit of the community

Hi all,
I want to put an icon on my Resco today plugin which launch the bluetooth settings.
Where is the .exe ?
In \windows\, nothing except btlauncher.exe and nothing appear when I click on it.
Any idea ?
the bluetooth settings reside in a file called cplmain.cpl then you just add ,23 for bluetooth all settings are in this file
eg. windows/cplmain.cpl,23 wisbar advance desktop can create a shortcut to this executable i dont know about any other program. here is a full list of cpl commands
Wisbar shortcut list P3600/M700
New>shortcut. Select your windows folder and show all files. Select "cplmain.cpl". Now as your shortcut add a
comma after the period followed by a number. As Shown: (I am not sure the exact number) You would type
"cplmain.cpl,6" without the ". The numbers usually range from 1 - 13, check them all out as they also open up
brightness,
e-backup,, etc.
1 = lock (password)
2 - Owner info
3 = Power
4 = Memory
5 = About
6 = ?
7 = Screen settings (rotate etc..)
8 = Input
9 = Sounds & notifications
10= Remove Programs
11= Menus
12= Buttons
13= Today
14= ?
15= Beam
16= Clocks & alarms
17= WIFI Config
18= Regional settings
19= Connections
20= Phone settings
21= ?
22= Manage certificates
23= Bluetooth settings
24= Error reporting
25= GPS settings
26= Comm manager
Argghh
This tip is not allowed in Resco today, I can't modify a shortcut by adding specific parameters and I can't create a shortcut of cplmain.cpl,23.
Maybe I shall use wisbar advance desktop...
thx for your help.
I needed to change the text and display a pop up menu for the right soft key on the homescreen. This needs to be done when the our plug-in is selected.
I have tried out various implementation none of them worked or were feasible
>> use SHCreateMenuBar on the desktop window and create the required menu bar in resource. But the problem was that I couldn't revert back to the original menu bar when the focus was passed on to the next plug-in.
>> use SHCMBM_SETSUBMENU. sending this message to the menu bar (HWND) handle with the command id of the right soft key and the handle to the pop up menu did not change anything. I also tried to get the actual HMENU handle to the menu bar using SHCMBM_GETMENU
HMENU hmenu = (HMENU)SendMessage(hMenuBar, SHCMBM_GETMENU, 0, 0);
return NULL and GetLastError() returns 5 (Access is denied).
Also tried a variation with the SHCMBM_GETSUBMENU message
HMENU hmenu = (HMENU)SendMessage(hMenuBar, SHCMBM_GETSUBMENU, 0, commandid);
This returns the same result as above.
Something related to this can be found at

If you are wondering if this is possible you can try out the google homescreen plug-in for smartphone which does exactly that.
http://www.downloadsquad.com/2008/03/20/google-launches-today-plugin-for-windows-mobile/
They change the right soft key to display a pop up menu when the plug-in is in focus dynamically. The default "Contacts" button does not have any pop-up.
Waiting.
Anyone have the tweaks (opera:config) or equivalent that will enable me to automatically clear all these on close of the browser and to remove the auto suggestions when typing into the bar as it is so annoying!
Many thanks
Hawk
Opera:config > Disk Cache > Empty On Exit
should clear the cache.
Opera:config > User Prefs > Max global History Lines > 0
not ideal as it stops any history being displayed in the current browsing section
Check out the User Prefs as something like AutocompleteOff may help with the auto suggestions.
Cheers
Steve
This is often a feature but I can't find it on Win Mo/ HD2
If you read the manual or Google you'll find the answer
But here's how you do it:
Scroll over to the settings menu > Menu> All Settings> System > Power > Battery > Tick the box about charging when inserted into PC.
Alternatively you can to it in the registery
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\usbfndrv\EnableUsbCharging = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Much obliged, I knew it must be somewhere....never thought of looking under the battery icon
Discontinued; but the hosts files below are always updated
This is a recompilation of registry hacks for Interop-unlocked Windows Phone devices.
I have tested this on my freshly hard-resetted Lumia 730; Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 (Also tried on Win10 v14393.189 as of 2 weeks ago).
I have used CustomPFD to explore the whole WP Registry, I will update this thread if I find something new and unusual.
- Created registry values are tested while there are some that says 'create a value for this key', I did not include it without initial and further testing
- Most WPTweaker tweaks are not here though, I still haven't consulted them for replicating their list of tweaks. All of the tweaks below are the ones I always use/alter on my device.
- Several tweaks might still apply on W10M but I haven't tested it all yet.
- Useful things are in here, I will dig down further to add more to this thread
