Got a couple how to questions.
When my screen turns off is there anyway to get it to come "back alive" besides quickly pressing the power button?
How do i calibrate the keyboard (in old versions of Android you go through that "quick brown fox...." exercise.
how do i calibrate the accelerometer?
Calibrating the keyboard and accelerometer is only a function of HTC Sense phones. If you install the HTC_IME and Clicker apps, then you can calibrate that keyboard.
If you download the app "Bubble" you can callibrate the sensor but I dont know if its global or just local to the app

Has anyone figured out how to extend the timer on the keyboard or are there any tools out there that will make the light stay on longer? The one second is really annoying.
Sorry if this question has been posted some where else used the search and looked through several pages.
giving this post a bump, as it really annoys me too.
im getting good at tapping the trackball to light up the keyboard. although sometimes it scrolls around and its annoying.
the worst part, is that i can slide my keyboard open, and before the screen can refresh and rotate and show me the text message box, the keyboard light is off.
epic fail on the testers part imo
download power manager, you can set the time there
I still can't get the keyboard to stay on. What setting is it in power manager.
Qtronix
You have to go to the profile you want the keyboard light on in and edit it.
For example, go to the battery profile and edit it by either long pressing it or by selecting it with the trackball then pressing MENU->edit.
They keyboard light option is available in the stay awake->while keyboard is open setting.
Sweet.... Thanks!
I don't use power manager. I have no use for it and use Toggle Settings to change my profiles.
Does anyone know of any other app or a script that can be run that will change the setting?
I just want the light to stay on as long as the hardware keyboard is open!
on my diamond i could disable the key lock and wake the device with a button press, is anything like that possible with the touch hd's capacitive buttons? it seems like a good solution as only fingers would be able to turn the device on. looked around and wasnt able to find a thread on the topic (other than shake to wake and the strange angling of the power button)
If I remember well it was Sensorlock or similar lock replacement that had an "issue" not being able to lock the hardware buttons. So I am 100% sure (as I tried it but dunno which one) that there is an alternative lock app that would fit your needs. Hopefully that "issue" is not fixed in the latest releases of the particular app

Not exactly what you are looking for, but have you tried LockMeLite, pocketshield or s2u2?
Those buttons are not capacitive imho. I can operate them with fingers/stylus/stick of wood ...
Anyways, would be nice to have such a thing.

Oops... I am using rss to read xda and thats why I didn't notice that this is a BLACKSTONE thread... Touch Pro has those hardkeys capacitive (to determine the position of finger +(!) two "real" buttons under the 4butoon field to "fulfill" the press command... dmn... it is morning. My english is stuck! Happy Eastern!
Hello,
I can't seem to find the setting to calibrate my screen. My screen is just off with the touch screen so I need to calibrate it. On other forums I read it should be under: settings menu all system. In that screen there should be a "screen" button. But in my dutch ROM 1.36.404.1 (94358) that button is not there. Can anyone confirm the button should be indeed there? And would there be an other way to start the calibration?
thx
Paul
In settings button, you will see sound & display button, come to the last option in this menu which is of G sensor, calibration, follow instructions and you are done.
option not available

thanks, but I checked it: the last option is G-Sensor, which helps me to calibrate it, the one before is for display: in that one, I can only adjust the brightness settings, when back light is switched off, whether is is controlled automatically etc, but nothing like screen calibration. Would this be ROM dependent?
There is no screen calibration control for current HTC models with capacitive screens. The original calibration control doesn't work as it's designed for stylus input and needs a pin point press to register.
So, HTC leave the Screen control out of the build, which is also the reason Cleartype can't be activated as it's part of the same control.
If you really want to try it, look in the Cleartype topic for the registry change needed to make the Screen control visible, but beware that using screen calibration might make things worse rather than better !
Inaccurate touch centering is one of the built-in downside of capacitive touch screens. There's no such thing as pin-point accuracy in this territory.
We're seeing similar complaints about Android devices, especially the Nexus One. The theory is that the software is supposed to be intelligent enough to register where a 'broad' point of contact is intended to be centred, but sometimes it simply doesn't work as it should.
The only remedy, if a soft reset doesn't sort it is to do a hard reset but reports say the benefits of this may only be short lived.
Use this registry setting
HKLM\ControlPanel\Pen and change from 1 to 0.
infact u dun need this function coz u'll never pass the calibration, i'd juz tried it yesterday(the capititive mon can't make an accurate calibration)
at last i need to soft-reset my device to leave the calibration page= =

You're right! Although my fingers are not the smallest, it does not work. Thanks and topic closed I guess.
Recently bought a iconia tab A500 for the GF, and she is loving this whole tablet thing, but how do we get the screen to rotate ?
It rotated left 90° when she was playing with latitude on google maps. And now I cannot seem to get it to rotate back. aranoid:
There is a small switch next to the volume button, but no matter how many times I flick it while rotating the tablet in my hands the home screen will not rotate back.
Yet if i happen to re-launch google maps i am able to rotate the tablet and the scren will rotate correctly, exit maps and it stops working
It does appear on the screen "lock on" & "lock off"
I`ve read the booklet that came with it, but it proved to be useless.
The rotation lock should be pushed to the left (closest to the volume rocker) to be unlocked. Try a reboot or power off and then on to see if that helps.
Greetings.
I just tried your suggestion, and still no luck.
Cheers
Kris.
Suggest u go Market place to look for auto rotate on software. It work for me

Is there a certain App that you would recommened? what app are you using? there are so many different one on there.
i am using a app call autorotate switch. This app is free
The touch input in this device is so bad i have to use my stylus pen to browse webs(i can never touch the back page button on google chrome instead it touches the forward page button instead),close programs(touch the top of the screen and pulling it down never works), opening the charm bar(swiping my finger from the right of the screen to the left never works too).
I tried calibrating it by searching calibrate on the charm bar's search feature but they doesn't work as well.
Any way to fix this? Its getting so annoying because i can't use the touch screen feature at all because its not precise.

Make sure your navigation gestures start from the black bezel of the Vaio then onto the touchscreen. You can use the calibration tool, change pen and touch settings, and change double clicking of objects to single tap to make the experience better. I'm not sure if the registry change to make touch more responsive for surface rt applies to your Intel tablet.
I'm with @vinscuzzy on this one... generally speaking I detest Sony products, but this sounds like a defective unit more than anything else. I'm not sure what you mean by "calibration doesn't work as well" (grammar, people: it conveys meaning). but if you can't fix this yourself, I would definitely suggest you take it back to wherever you got it.
When i use the calibration settings whenever i try to touch the cross it shows the input to be slightly on the right. i can't even close apps or use the multitasking. Closing tabs is hard or even clicking on links on google isn't accurate at all.
I bought this machine overseas and it isn't even out in my country so replacing it is too much of a hassle.
I almost considered it. But found there is a problem with the drivers, especially with Photoshop supposedly MS and Sony are using a specific driver but its not compatible with certain apps that use a different format of driver like Photoshop for touch.
The driver developers as far as I'm aware via googling don't seem interested in fixing this issue due to cost and/or it being niche market. Maybe try other software, I hope you don't have faulty system
