Can you change the trackball colors on the nexus one?

Yup, this, too, was one of the big surprises for me today when I got mine. I use and love several apps that flash the notification LED different/custom colours, but on the Nex1, the only colour I get is white.
I'm really, really, hoping that OS2.1 just changed the API and that updated apps will be able to do colours. I'm really, really scared that they cheaped out and put a white LED behind the trackball. >.<
][
People are saying that when Bluetooth is paired is flashes blue.
I heard when you have voicemail it flashes red. I haven't tried any of them yet though so I wouldn't know.
its a tri color led so it CAN do any color its just a matter of the third party apps adapting to be able to control it, cant wait
White, red, blue....
Anyone else wish they had green?
Though it was very patriotic of HTC.

all colors can be reproduced... just depends on the software that lights up the ball.
indeed it can be changed
unfortunately it stops working after a notification is fired...
Install NotifyLight from XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=575024
then set up the pulselight on and change the values in:
/sys/devices/platform/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0066/leds/jogball-backlight/color
ie:
Code:
adb shell echo "255 0 0" > /sys/devices/platform/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0066/leds/jogball-backlight/color
this will give you a nice red jogball.
"255 0 0" is in RGB format.
And off course you need root for this to work...

When white, it is actually the red, green, and blue all on at the same time.
Would love to see an app to configure all sorts of different notification colors for missed calls, texts, emails, etc, and the blink frequency.
Btw.. MissedCall works, but it can't change the colors.
Once the SDK drops for 2.1 and Nexus One codes and such are released, we should have notifications fixed and custom notifications.

I have to say that Google disabled multicolor LED notifications on the Nexus One! (the hardware can do them) #missedCall #NexusOne #fail

Well, it's unlikely that there are 3 led's in there, just one tri-colour.
I've just installed the NotifyLight application and echo'd values to is and it works fine.
People are seriously over reacting, suggesting that this is a deliberate move by google - get a grip, it's probably an oversight. I agree that it's very useful to have but I'm not throwing my toys out of my pram over it.

Every sign including feedback from one of the most popular notification apps Devs points to it not working.
If all of a sudden custom ringtones and contact pictures were removed you'd see the same reaction.
Google already closes off the ability to add codecs or EQ bands.
Considering how many apps took advantage of this I dont see why peoples reactions arent justified. You dont pay 500+ for something to lose functionality.

I'm not saying it's not, not working (without rooting). I'm suggesting that the mechanism (API and underlying implementation) has simply changed and it's an oversight. Looking at the link you provided earlier there was mention that the notification API hasn't changed in a long time.
"The SDK hasn't change in terms of Notifications since SDK version 1."
Perhaps that's the reason it's not working, perhaps the API needs an update rather that being deliberately disabled as that poster went on to say.
"Google just disabled that feature in Android 2.1."
That's simply an unsubstantiated claim by someone on the internet.
People are suggesting that this was a deliberate move by google to close off Android bit by bit. Perhaps waiting until we get some sort of response rather than flying off at the deep end is the best course of action.
2.1 is a new release and the Nexus One is a new device. That's what you paid for. You're an early adopter and really should understand that things might not be perfect in the first instance.
Since you're a senior member of the forum and by implication have been in here for a while and have obviously had more than one android phone, I'm a little surprised and your outrage.

In and of itself youre 100% right.
But in context with every thing that has been coming out in the last week there could be much more to it.
For all I know there could be something N1 isnt capable of long term that these types of notifications may exploit.
Via Twitter and another via Email Ive seen 2 devs of notification apps confirm that the LED lights and patterns cant be manipulated.
Sure it can be an oversight or just some hitch. Perhaps Im giving these devs too much credit. But its the sqeauky hinge that gets the oil. While it may annoy other posters theres simply no better means than to continually raise a ruckus. Im not up in arms saying screw google F the nexus. Just being adamant about displeasure.
The only way any of us can expect a response is by having these conversations.
The 3g/edge issue doesnt seem to effect me but if its there a stink should be raised.
Frankly if a fix came out tomorrow for the rooted community and never by google Id be just as annoyed. I want the OS to move forward not backwards.

So I like most everything about my nexus but the way it takes pictures. Its not so much a real issue because it doesn't prevent the camera from working.. but it seems the chip/sensor they used for the camera gives a red spot in all pictures in the center of the image, most noticeably in pictures with a white or light background/image. I'll attach a picture so everyone else can confirm what I mean... I was hoping we could get HTC to replace the phones that have this issue via the warranty as this seems to be an issue with many nexus ones (based on a couple of reviews and the pictures they provided there). Here's my sample picture. You can also see it on screen when looking at what you're going to take a picture of.
Also I do research in a lab and its a procedure for an experiment I'm doing... just realized what I was posting might seem odd... didn't really read it before posting.
It is a software issue, so they are not going to do a warranty replacement. Droid had the same deal with it, seems to be something with the base 2.0/1 Android framework, I am sure it will be fixed when google releases their bug fix update(don't ask when, no legit idea beyond guessing sometime around the start of February, since that seems to be the typical timeline with phone bug updates, about 30 days after launch the first update is released).
Correction. It's a HARDWARE issue. Dont believe me? leave your cammera on for a couple minutes.. Goes away right? Its cuz droid camera was the same.. or similar? They had a bad batch. Mine has no pink eye(N1) =>
The Droid's issue was partially a software problem...
http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/17/motorola-droid-camera-autofocus-fixed-in-secrecy/
As well, it is a "who really knows?"
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=10749
It seems many phones, with different camera's and so forth are having this issue... CCD seems to be the manufacturer of all the sensors, though, so perhaps there is a problem with the firmware from CCD causing this?
I highly doubt that every single camera sensor ever made by this company happens to have this sort of issue due to hardware. That would be pretty insane! However, if it was a firmware issue, then it would be present in every handset that uses a CCD manufactured/firmware supported camera, and this seems to be the case.
As well, it has already been stated the HD2 will get an update that fixes it. Hopefully the Nexus One is in the same boat. I didn't notice it on the test unit I used, but I asked the current tester if it was happening, and on all 3 it is present. It isn't noticeable in most pictures, though, especially with the flash on, FXcamera set to the proper white balance, and so forth.
EVERY Nexus One you get will have this issue. IT IS SOFTWARE. My N1 has it, the replacement I got has it too.
I've just taken a load of pictures and no pink from what I can see with both flash on and off.
Took pictures of a white surface and no pink. Must be hardware.
EDIT: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...authkey=Gv1sRgCNKM3fOF452TyQE&feat=directlink
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...authkey=Gv1sRgCNKM3fOF452TyQE&feat=directlink
Do you have any camera apps installed? FXcamera with proper white balance settings(sometimes auto is perfect, sometimes you have to do it manually) makes it go away a lot of the time too.
Eh Hem.. Guys are you all forgetting that my N1 DOES NOT HAVE PINK EYE
From what I understand this is a hardware issue. This was also present in an earlier HTC phone (I think the HD2) running a different OS altogether.
yes this was a widespread issue on the HD2... and it was completley fixed by a SOFTWARE UPDATE! >.<
A cursory search of the words "hd2 pink camera issue" on Google seems to imply that this is actually a hardware issue.
Edit: The source of the confusion http://www.redmondpie.com/fix-pink-camera-problem-on-htc-hd2-9140202/:
HTC first confirmed it as an hardware issue but then later they found out that it was infact a software issue, rather than a hardware one.

I believe the SOFTWARE update is just overcorrecting the blue/green settings on the center of the camera (Guess...) to cancel out the HARDWARE problem with YOUR camera. But again.. It is a Hardware issue for sure. Sorry guys xD I win!
I wouldnt trust htc if you ask them though.. I dont think they are certain what planet they are on half the time.. I asked about how they know that I unlocked my bootloader and his answer was basically.. voodoo. Soooo yaaahhhh... Notice that the cameras are the same for droid HD2 and Nexus one? and those are the only 3 with the issue? Not the G1 with ported software? => hardware folks

I agree, just because the manufacturer releases a software fix doesn't mean its a software problem to begin with.
The first day I had the phone, I really noticed the pink spot. Yesterday I took 30 pictures, I didn't notice it at all. Today If I look hard enough I think I see a little tiny pink, viewing the image of a white piece of paper in the same place (office) I first tested the camera.
Yeah I noticed this too. It only really shows up if I take pictures of white paper or a white wall. Every other normal pic I take turns out fine but I do hope they can fix it with a software update... wouldn't be too hard.

So, I got the vibrant, and overall I like it because its much more responsive than both my G1 and MyTouch, but kind of have the following thoughts.
1. I feel having an LED has to be a big mistake/oversight. I cant imagine the LED would have much added cost for samsung nor be very big/require much space. Yet would have a GREAT improvment on the user experience. I hate not being able to glance at my phone and see what happened. Plus, it's alot less battery than having to turn on the screen. There are some hacks - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725458 - being done to compensate, but none are 'great' solutions, although clever.
2. Battery life - for an AMOLED screen, I'm surprised my battery drains as fast as it does. It lasts me 3/4 of a day more or less. I do have a few things installed, and do use the feed widgt for facebook etc, and have gmail and work email synced. I think it still doesnt last as long as it should. I'm considering removing the facebook widget and adjusting sync times to get more battery back, but still feels lacking.
P.S. : Isnt there some sort of App that can help me identify which apps are using the most battery/CPU time?
3. Calendar Notification - This is something I cant understand. I have worke mail synced to my phone, as well as my calendar for it synced. I get long vibrations and sound (if my phone isnt on vibrate), but there is no way I can find to adjust the notification to be less annoying. I know other users have noticed the same issue
4. Bloatware - I dont mind the fact that they install alot of apps on the phone that other users may find interesting, but I really feel they should make it easier to remove them. I shouldnt have to go through extra effort to get the bloatware removed.
5. Camera App - its a nice app, but I dont like how after taking a picture it does not switch back to camera... you have to hit the back button.
6. Power on button - You already have to do a slide to unlock... why on earth is the power button so small and obtrusive? I feel this is a bit quircky.
7. Proximity sensor - I dont know about you guys, but it took me a while to figure out why, when I am on the phone, the screen kept lighting up on and off. I *think* I figured out that the proximity sensor right next to the ear piece detects if your head is near the phone, and if it is away from it, it will light up the phone. I find this rather annoying, maybe I hold the phone awkwardly, but several times it has lit up while talking and I've accidentally muted etc.
So ya, </rant>
Overall, the phone is nice and a well needed improvement over my previous phone, but I feel there were just a few simple things that samsung could of done to make it a solid release.
What do others think?

FYI the rant was partially so others (who may want to get the phone) know what issues and downsides I've personally experienced, and partially to see if anyone has any suggestions on ways to imrpove/fix some of my issues.
If you have nothing smart to say next time, it may be best to just keep it to yourself.

this posting was worth it allow for this fine joke of yours...nice one do you do stand up?
@temperbad - the reason people on this forum will harass you about your post is mainly this:
xda-developers is just that - a DEVELOPERS forum. Most people who want to complain about devices go to forums for those devices that address general discussion. This forum caters to people who "mod" their devices. While many new-comers do come to this forum and are welcomed - it is appreciated if they stay on topics related to app modification/generation, themeing, developing and modifying ROMS and such.
So, while many do get on here and post about other crap - it is only tolerated by those that seriously want to use these forums for the intended purposes.
Your rant about this device will most likely only be heard by those who own the device out of necessity or desire - AND, by people who are already committed to owning the device. THEY DON'T CARE about hearing someone complain about a device they are already committed to!
So, in the future please make these kinds of posts on forums on which people discuss more general topics or cater to the device "generally" instead of on a forum that is dedicated to DEVELOPMENT and MODIFICATION.
I am not attempting to be harsh - however, hopefully, others will read this and will not post topics that are not related to this forum.
MOST OF THE REALLY GREAT DEVELOPERS ARE RAN OFF from Development forums because of all the off topic comments. We hope that one day this will stop.... But, I am beginning to feel like all hope is lost...
@shaneaus - yes, I understand that, but I did post in the GENERAL section. Also, I understand this is a developer forum. I'm a developer myself and have trolled the forums for a few years, and there are some development solutions to the problems I mentioned (like notifications) etc...
Thanks for the thoughtful response though.
Every phone has it's shortcomings
Return it or whine about it
At this point I would suggest you move on
wait for the froyo update and some of your issues may be resolved.

Are you people serious? You don't know how a Proximity sensor works on these phones? "Bloatware" as if T-Mobile hid it from you and has SO much of it on this phone? "Photo review, a feature that YOU CAN TURN OFF IN THE CAMERA SETTINGS?!" "PS isn't there an app that will tell me what is using the most battery" - Wow. Just wow. And you call this a "rant"? Maybe you should consult the owners manual before creating threads like this.
You knew or should've known that there is no LED Notification light on this phone. If you're trying to tell me that the battery life is worse on this phone than the G1 you're doing something seriously wrong.

Can you guys please reply to my issue I've posted and spread the word as much as you can? We're no devs, but the best we can do is to raise awareness, because this is an issue that is unacceptable in final build stable software across multiple devices.

Anywhere you can select an option (dialog box)... ringtones, notifications, wallpapers, even changing volume shows a piece of discoloration..... increase brightness to see more discoloration.
I may be blind, but I'm totally not seeing what you are describing.
LOL!!, it looks like someone used an erase tool on an overlay on that asset then saved it (possbily accidently). it doesn't look like an artifact or anything like reported its actually part of the background asset HOWEVER i had never noticed till this post and now it annoys me :\

This is really great news... I just tweeted him on an ETA... I've seen bugs in Android, but this is one that you just can't ignore and should not even accept with how much we spend on our devices, and its plaguing my Nexus 4 & 7...
I have noticed this problem from the first day on the settings screens, there is a gradient from black to grey. And this was not this way in previous versions. If it is fixed by an update it would be great.
Damn! Ignorance is bliss, never noticed until you called attention to it. Now I cant stop noticing it.

I managed to get a Canadian Moto X. I noticed there are other dumps from Verizon and AT&T. Would anyone be interested in the Canadian system dump?
I've never done a system dump, but I doubt it's something I can't do. If anyone is interested, and can point me to the right direction; I'd be more than happy to supply the dump.
Tried following this guide:

But I can't get it to work. Seems I need su/root access. I'll research further, but would be faster if someone can point me to the right direction!

Yeah I agree. Since you are probably the first person in the world to have the phone, you should give us your impressions and such first!

Brief history:
Major iOS nerd. Made my living from iOS dev (didn't sell apps, but worked on projects on the iOS platform). Always have been an Android follower, though. Have all the Nexus devices, but they always end up sitting in the drawer. Owned a few non-Nexus phones, HTC, Commtiva (uggh), Samsung Galaxy S3 & S4.
Quick overview:
• The white is nice, but I can see it getting dirty quick. The surface of the backplate is very smooth to touch. Somewhat slippery (doesn't offer traction whatsoever) despite having a weaved carbon fibre look, I expected it to feel a bit "rough", like unpolished CF.
• Device itself feels magnificent. Has a substantial feel to it, yet it weighs less than the Nexus 4. The device is heavy at the top (speaker top), which I find to be a clever design, it rests on my palm better as it would rest on the middle & index fingers better. That dimple in the middle, feels awesome too. It's the equivalent on dimples on keyboards (F & J keys), it's there to let you know how to hold the phone the right way.
• Speaking of palm, I have a slightly larger than average palm size, and the device feels just right. It's not overly big. Which is one of the primary reasons why I wanted to check out the phone. The 4.7 display feels oddly more fitting, than the Nexus 4, thanks to the much smaller bezel. Less shimmying the device to reach the back button.
• Had a tad bit of problem setting up Touchless Control, because it was so fussy about zero ambience noise. Had to find a dead silent room. Way too fussy.
• Active Notifications, something I can't live without anymore; and it's only been a day! I think this is a very Apple-ish feature; except Motorola beat them to it (or Apple isn't into AMOLED screens).
• Battery life, I don't know. Seems to hold longer charge better than my S4. I intentionally let the phone run without charging it since last night. I wanted to see a real life test. I'm sure the smarter guys/reviewers will be doing a much more through/scientific test than I will be.
• The additional features (Assist, Switcher, Motorola Connect) are quite useful and not gimicky! I didn't read any reviews prior to getting the phone (that's just how I roll) and I was pleasantly surprised to see Assist! If you're unfamiliar, it's a Do Not Disturb app, similar to iOS 6's, with additional features (mute during meetings, driving mode). Implementation is quite the same as iOS 6's.
• The OS feels very AOSP. There's some random customization here and there, but very very bare. I can't find any thing that is not within the Holo guideline. It's super responsive, despite being a dual core CPU. Motorola must've done some major optimization to get 4.2.2 to run like this. It feels faster than the TouchWiz ROM on the S4; probably because Moto X isn't bloated.
• Another nice surprise is to see a "Google" folder on the home screen. All of the Google apps, preloaded. It might be a turn-off for some, but I thought that was a nice addition. I mean, Motorola being a Google company…
• There are a few visual glitches, Navbar being semi transparent and if that's intentional, then it's not "right" because most wallpapers don't fit the 4.7", leaving a good 20 DIP solid black navbar.
• I'm not used to seeing a carrier label on the top left corner. Nexus 4 didn't have this. I much prefer not to see this at all.
• Oddly enough, I have not seen any Rogers' bloat! There is a teensy bit of hope!
Edit:
• My phone says "eh" and "aboot".
thanks for the info! i went to rogers here in ottawa and they had one black one left, but they wouldnt sell it outright to me, so im trying to find one

Active notifications: Do you ever find the "pulsing" to be annoying? For example, if you have the phone face up on your desk, is it annoying to have to wait until the active notification lights up before you can check your messages/know if you have a message at all? I love the concept of active notifications, but I want to be able to not wait for it to come up.
Nav bar: I think that's intentional. No way they would overlook that part. I never liked the transparent nav bar anyways.
Carrier label: I've seen some reviews or videos that didn't have the label on the top left and am disappointed that it's there. I'm sure I would find it annoying as well so hopefully we can find a way to nuke it.
TIP: Maybe you should renamed this thread into the impressions thread? I could see it taking off. Or maybe just copy your post into a fresh thread with an appropriate title? Be a good place to aggregate all the impressions for this strange phone that many people are unsure of buying.

Pulsing: Not at all. It's a good design, IMHO. if the screen is off, then there's nothing to worry about. Look at it from the "no news is good news" perspective. The same design as LED blinks! Since you asked, it's clever (IMHO) that you would have to grab your phone for the screen to display the time. At least I don't have to press the lock screen button to check the time.
Nav Bar If this is intentional, then that's a very strange design decision. My live wallpaper won't fit flushed against the 1280 height.
Carrier Label Yea. I can't wait for a root access! Need to get rid of this bloody thing. Check screenshot. BTW, I unlocked my phone, that's why it's showing as Koodo.

I've always made my LED "always on" instead of pulsing. Guess I'd have to change my habits with the X. And like you said, maybe it's for the better that I don't constantly jump to my phone. As an additional question: if you have an outstanding notification, how often/in what intervals does it pulse? Does it pulse slower as the notification is not checked after a while? If you have no notifications at all, how often does it pulse? (Sorry, just very intrigued by these notifications)
The transparency of the bar is intentional, but I assume the wallpaper isn't isn't and it would actually be odd that they overlooked that part. This isn't an issue for me though as I always hide by nav bar and use LMT.
And yeah, I would definitely need to get rid of that label...ugh. Question, what is up with your homescreen? Can't be a ROM cause it's too early so is it some launcher?

Additional Questions: Let me investigate this further. I need to study the behaviour anyway (I'm a UX guy).
Edit: With 2 different types of notifications, the screen pulses every six seconds-ish. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen the screen pulse/breath without any pending notification.
What is it with my homescreen that you find odd? The lack of icons? I just picked an empty page. I'm running Action Launcher.
Edit: yea, it's an Action Launcher issue, wallpaper not fitting correctly. The native launcher fits the wallpaper flushed! Sorry, Moto! I spoke too soon!

Ah good to know about the wallpaper.
And yeah, I just never seen that launcher before so the widgets looked interesting. Always been a Nova guy.
I'll be awaiting your notification behaviours.

Interesting.
Is it possible to make the AN (active notification) show up by quickly covering the light sensor and then uncovering it? This would simulate taking the phone out of your pocket. I assume it works, but wonder how well. Could be a nice little trick to get the AN to pop.

It seems like a combination of a few sensors. Covering the device doesn't activate AN. However, moving it about will bring up AN. So, gyroscope based?

Ah that's pretty cool. Just shake the phone to show AN. Works too I guess.
I can't stress how COOL the Touchless feature is! I mean, EAT YOUR HEART OUT, SIRI!
Too bad I can't call it something else, other than "OK Google Now". I'd do HELLO MOTO for ****s and giggles.

You're a horrible reviewer, no cookie for you!
More seriously, thanks for posting about this. I'll throw in some more questions:
- You say the back is smooth, but is it soft-touch or a hard surface?
- How much free space was there before you put Action Launcher on it?
- Some reviews noted that whites have a pink tint to them - is this true for yours?
- How's the speaker phone sound quality?
- Do you connect it up to your work email? If so, does Assist allow you to stop it from synching overnight?

-smooth hard surface. Not rubberized.
- space wise? 10GB
- mine is neutral white. There's a pearl effect.
- I'll test speaker!
- assist doesn't stop syncing. Only suppressing notifications.
Thank god I don't write reviews for a living! I'd be out on the street, not being able to afford the cheapest phone plan here in Canada

Thanks for the first impressions, I am getting more and more excited for the phone as I read more of what you write. But I was wondering though how you went about unlocking your phone? You didnt have to do it through the carrier did you?
Just read on android pit.com
Our source has informed us that Android 5.1 will be launched by the end of February 2015, and a second, completely separate source that is also privy to important information regarding Android updates, confirmed it. Not only that, this is allegedly a rather large update with many interesting new features! See the changelog below:
Silent mode added after missing on Android 5.0
General improvements in system stability
Improved RAM management
Fixes for sudden app closures
Improved battery management
Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed
Issues with wireless connections fixed
Problems with Okay Google function solved
Notifications problems solved
Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed
Other improvements and changes
Changes in the Material Design color palette (after users complaints, possibly for a higher version though)
So far there is no information about functions that it might bring, but we'll be sure to report on those as soon as we hear it.
Android 5.0 was a fantastic update, however it did bring its own list of issues, which we covered how to fix in our Android 5.0 Lollipop common problems and solutions article. That being said, Android 5.1 could get rid of many of the problems we saw here!
Android 6.0: let’s invent the ultimate Android OS

I wonder if that means ok Google will finally work with all aosp roms. I've tried the suggested fixes and the best I've been able to get is it works on any screen but not with screen off. Kind of defeats the purpose when you are trying to use it hands free while driving.
i'll believe it when i see it from Google...

The only ROM I've seen that OK google works with screen off is sinless ROM, because its based off of googles IMG rather than aosp. Pretty solid ROM, you should give it a shot.
I'm really pumped for the Other improvements and changes. I've been wanting this feature for a long time.

As far as I can tell and this being my first Nexus device, development is rather slow. Also to me the whole lollipop android seems very unpolished and lack luster. So many fixed things that cannot be changed without a lot of people in this community doing a lot of work. Simple things like hiding navigation bar and being able to select what one wants on the navigation bar are sorely missing and should be standard on Android. No notification LED, what the ****, even my HTC HD2 had that working and available, in fact that phone was one of the easiest and most customizable phones I've ever owned.
There are so many seemingly standard and simple things that seem to have been left out and on top of that locking the bootloader from the get go just does not scream please feel free to customize me. I thought the Nexus would be a device that, like android would support open source and many wonderful improvements by community users. I don't know, but if I was not told this is a Nexus device, I would swear it was a branded phone of a much less expensive manufacturer. I will keep it until the next update, but if they don't add even the most basic features, and some open source customizations ability to it, I guess I will have to leave the fold. Yes, this phone did not make me a fan of any kind. Nice specs, but not utilized to their full potential and one of the worst experiences out of the box. Makes me appreciate the polish of Samsung, HTC, LG and others.

Slow amigo? We got root and ROMs and twrp all in less time than Samsung devices simply to get root.
Polish takes more than 1 month since hardware release. This device is brand spanking new on an entirely new and unfamiliar code base.
I had a note 4. It's a great phone feature wise however performance wise the nexus blows it out of the ball park. No lag whatsoever, i do hear the odd crackle from the speaker when starting it up and when the unlock/lock sound plays but that's it. Hope the sound improvements mentioned in the change log will address that. Looking forward to it.

sweet that means I'll get 5.1 on my nexus 6 same time as I get 5.01
I hope this is true.
I'm hoping that the color palate change will add a darker material design. I always like the holo dark, and switching to the high contrast material design was pretty big. I like in google keyboard you can change it to dark material in the settings, but I'd like to see that on a stock ROM. (I'm waiting for a big ROM like CM, PA, Slim, or Omni to release stable, because I love the features, but I require ota )

How is his post a fanboy post? It's literally spot on. The Nexus 6 is BRAND NEW. I mean, the phone went on pre-order late October and very few have been able to get their hands on one because of it's unavailability. Despite that, we have plenty of action going on in development. It seems like you haven't bothered to check.
Also, reading your posts lately on the forum, it seems like you 'ignore' everyone that disagrees with you. Then you call others 'fanboys'.
Anyone see a problem with that?
I would love to see official supported notification LED or improved ambient display. So I wanna have a recognizable notification method of i don´t stare permanently on my mobile and don´t have to pick up.

Seems really odd that Google releases a dark version of android back in version 4.0 but uses LCDs on their reference phones, but now they release 5.0 with bright colors and use AMOLED. It seems it should have been reversed.
