"with Google" on the back doesn't necessarily equate to "Google Experience" phone.
Google Experience phones: "G1", "myTouch3G", "Nexus One"

HTC Hero Promo VIDEO

The promo video shows off the HTC Hero and the Rosie interface. Looks awesome.
Cool!
Nice promo video, hope the Hero is a promising phone with better specs. Looking forward to it, thank you for finding the video.
is that really HERO? is HERO also aka G3?

I think the Hero is the G3. This may be the G1 redone. This one doesn't have the keyboard so it can't be the second G1; that means the title is wrong too
There is no G3. There is not G2. G1 is just tmobile nonsense and means nothing. Dream is dream, magic is magic, and hero is hero.

I think it might actually. I thought the 'G' referred to the Google branding, or a device which qualifies for the Google logo on it. Therefore the 'G1' was the first phone to have the Google logo on it. 'G2' was the Magic, which also has the Google logo on it. I think that is the logic behind it.

You are wrong. "G1" is just a carrier-assigned (tmobile) trick to make dumb people think that the carrier is somehow the manufacturer.
There is no doubt that the device is actually "htc dream" and NOTHING MORE: http://www.htc.com/www/product/dream/overview.html
very nice!!!!!

Yea that makes sense. Maybe makes their corporate image look better too (to dumb people ofc ).
I'm assuming that thing comes out in the fall to coincide with Leno's new show. That can be the only explanation for a chin that big.

Also known as HTC G1?

The description for this forum is wrong!
It's either HTC Dream OR T-Mobile G1 and NOT some hybrid HTC G1
Even the wiki says that the names for the device are HTC A71XX / HTC Dream / Android Dev Phone / T-Mobile G1 -- again, no HTC G1.
Just thought I'll point that out...
cool never noticed that
Mine's called "Gary".
I thought "Google G1" was OK too, but the trademark ownership on HTC site says:
Google, Android, Android Market, Gmail, Google Talk, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Search and YouTube are trademarks of Google Inc. T-Mobile and the magenta color are federally registered trademarks of Deutsche Telekom AG. G1 and T-Mobile G1 are trademarks of T-Mobile USA, Inc.

Google G1 does not make much sense as G standts for Google as far as I know, so it would mean Google Google 1
I feel like such an idiot now going around posting everywhere with "HTC G1" in my signature.
Changed.
Are you serious? Well, sorry for that, I've just pointed that out for fun.
Still wondering if forum admins will react...
I also noticed that when you go into settings > about phone it says 'T-Mobile G1" too.
I noticed this a while back, just couldn't be bothered to make a thread about it. I agree with Karolis that HTC G1 makes absolutely no sense at all.

I hope you're talking about your phone =P
I've noticed it since the Dream forum was created, but at that point no one was really sure about the name and later it didn't bug be.
It doesn't bug me now either, I was just in the mood for a new thread
To be fair the phone is actually referred to as the HTC G1.
Infact, when in a T-Mobile store complaining about their lack of MiniUSB to 3.5mm headphone adapters (they don't sell any AT ALL despite the G1/G2 Touch being their flagship phones) I was told to search for a HTC Adapter because the official name is the "HTC G1" (to be honest, you'd have to be stupid to not know the phone is made by htc so I don't even know why he mentioned that)
But referred to != it is
I mean HTC is the company that makes them and G1 is a registered trademark of T-Mobile, just like someone has already mentioned.
such a pointless thread.

[REQ]Motoblur to nexus one

Now that the blackflip is released for at&t is there any chance of seeing motoblur modded over to the N1 like we did for the Sense UI ???
I'm no developer I'd just like to see if this is possible....

I'm sure it is. If there is any rom that can drag the N1 down in performance it is probably the blur. That thing killed my cliq performance wise.

Eeeeewwww... motoblur. yuck.
king has ported it. there are some issues with getting the home capacitive touch button to work. nonetheless motoblur is pretty disgusting. pm king maybe he'll link you
I actually like motoblur. I think it has better facebook intergration than stock 2.1 and it also has twitter intergration. I think king said he was going to work on a motoblur release but I dont know if he is still planing on doing it. Tho I think one would have to really mod the graphics to get this to work on the n1 because of its much higher resolution.

thats why we have auto-scaling. we can batch convert pngs to match our res. he has a motoblur port but i believe it is unusable as the home key doesnt work. also hes ported devour but with much more issues
edit: no prob king u da man
Why would you take a Porche and stick a Pinto engine in it? Friend of mine has a Cliq. I tried to like Blur, I swear I did, but I just couldn't see the point.
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit
Moved to General Area
While I personally think motoblur is terrible, I think itd be pretty cool if it gets ported. Im sure King will get it workin, while I would never use it its always cool to say, "yeah, my phone can do that." So why not? More choices the better.
never thought i would see a question like this. It's funny in most other forums where people don't know so much about unlocked phones, people are like "ugh, who wants sense anyway" and don't understand when I complain about the "raw google interface" needing refinement like HTC does it.
And here I'm surprised to find this thread! Hahahaha, I suppose some people would be curious, but I would never put Blur on a phone that could look 10x better with Sense. Sorry. That's just my 2 cents though.
This is almost as bad a suggestion as porting Windows Mobile to our phones.
Blur is only ok if u need to see every derail of everyone elses life. Sometimes to much info. I do think for those who need sensory overload this might rock on the Nexus. I tried....settled for selling to get the Nexus
I don't see what peoples big stink is...if you don't like it don't use it. But people do want more options. Plus its not as bad as people make it out to be.
Why do people hate MotoBlur so much? I enjoyed it when I had the Cliq ROM on my G1.
It's not like SenseUI doesn't have Twitter and Facebook integration and it's not like there are a lack of twitter or facebook clients.

I'm saying the biggest thing about MotoBlur is its social integration which SenseUI has just as much. Yet, people love SenseUI(including me) and most tend to hate MotoBlur.
Why?
It's not drastically different than stock Android so I'm not seeing what people hate so much about it. SenseUI alters Android a lot more from what I can see.

Ahh, ok I see your point now.
That is the exact reason I prefer motoblur over senseUI.
Its more like the stock android(which I love) and it provides better integration of the services I use.(Twitter, Facebook and what not)
I think we should really get this ported over.
Yeah I assume someone will port it eventually

No with Google logo?

Why doesn't the vibrant have that?
It has all the google apps?
Because Samsung doesn't feel they have to continually throw Google's name around to get hype.
The phone sells itself.
although that is true, the galaxy s outside of the states has the "powered by Google" or something similar to it. the reason we don't have it on our phones in the states is because they are big on advertising the galaxy s series of phones, and they have a galaxy q series coming out at the end of the year or beginning of next year. they want the galaxy name to be synonymous with great quality
I think the first version had it to get people interested and now they can sell it in the US based on the international versions success.
It's simple: It's not a "Google Experience" phone, like the MT3G or G1 was. It's a "Galaxy S" phone, with TouchWiz3.
Do HTC Sense-based phones have "with Google" or "Google Experience" on them anywhere?

Yes. They do.
Some of the motoblur phones do as well.
The whole "google experience" nonsense was pulled out of a bloggers ass for page views.
Oh well
Btw if I have like 400 apps, will there be enough pages?

Whatever you call the iphone like scrolling through apps
This question really confuses me... Obviously there will be enough "pages" for however many apps you have? Do you expect to download apps and have no way to access them?

Well it is not an iphone. So don't worry about how many pages an iphone has, because it is not an iphone. Do you understand that I want you to know it is not an iphone? Because it is annoying when people think all smartphones are iphones and an android phone is not an iphone and never will be an iphone and I am glad my vibrant is not an iphone and is instead an android based smart phone because I do not want an iphone and it is not an iphone.
By the way. The Samsung Vibrant is not an iphone.

with Google

Is it just me, or is the EVO missing the 'with Google" mini-logo?
Out of all the other American-released android phones, I haven't seen another (recently) without the 'with Google' logo.
Not that I would care - all of my battery cover logos are covered up with carbon fiber anyhow. But has anyone else notice this?
TheHero had that logo
Sent from my Evo beeesshh
Hmm, interesting point.
It's on all of the droids that I've seen, even the first droid which has full motoblur says with Google.
The new HTC phones says: With HTC Sense. Kind of seems like the EVO is the in-between child.
I think the "with Google" branding means that it's approved to use the market. Kind of like a authorized Android device. Don't know why its missing on the EVO but I guess that its just a optional thing to add if you're "authorized".
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
The Evo IS actually a "with Google" phone. In fact, the first evo prototypes had the logo, but it seems that Sprint decided to replace it with their own 4G logo.
Also, to further confirm this, look at Google Android Phone gallery:
http://www.google.com/phone/detail/htc-evo-4g
Evo is clearly listed as a "with Google" phone.

Some Heroes have it and some don't. My launch-day Hero didn't, but a refurb warranty replacement I got did.
