Hi everyone,
I'll try not to waffle on too much, i have a vodafone branded magic that i have rooted and flashed multiple roms on till recently when i found this guide on how to turn it into a hybrid 32A/B so Bluetooth would work on the Hero Roms
http://alldroid.org/viewtopic.php?f=130&t=423
Which didnt actually work in the end as it only allowed the Bluetooth to connect for calls and not music but this is besides the point i guess.
After doing this i tried to update to the latest radio but used a 32A thinking it would work (dumbass i know), after doing this i can now only boot into the fast/H/boot screen and i cant flash a new radio as i get FAILED (status read failed (too many links)
I cant boot into recovery even after flashing RA's recovery again which appears to work and i get stuck at the splashscreen whenever i switch on the phone normally which i kind of expected at this point with it being half bricked (not literally just figuratively)
Im lost guys and i'd really like to get my phone working again
Here's what i have when i load the boot screen

Hi all
This is my first post, please be gentle. I have tried searching and read lots but have got now where very fast. Firstly thanks to everyone putting out all the guides and working on the updates and such. I have a HTC magic vodafone google UK
I tried rooting my phone using: http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?t ... ic_Rooting
then I loaded recovery RAv1.1.2 which worked well again
I think its at this step where I went wrong. I then tried to load up the fatality Scene onto my phone and now it does not boot. looking back i missed the fact it was for 32A and not 32B and when i try to restore nandroid the same problem of only vodafone splash screen comes up and hangs until battery is removed
I can access recovery by holding home and power, i can load roms from sd card but on reboot it hangs on vodafone. So I have to take the batery out. I can still access fast boot when putting battery back in and back and that has got me no where aswell
on fastboot it says
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0004 (SAPP10000)

All I wanted to do is to be able to access voice dialing, multi touch and saving apps on SD card, anything else is a bonous. Now any use apart from a paper weught would be good
any advice appreciated!!!
please help!!!
ok well if you can still acess fastboot then you shoulb be able to load recovery image by using
fastboot boot name-of-recovery-image.img
and then flash the phone again using a 32B rom... Make sure of course that you first download the rom and place it on the sdcard using a card reader or something!
I have learned the error of my ways. Basically I should have read more and try and understand what the actual process was doing rather than blindly following instructions. Im all up and running and have to say many thanks to every one working on this, there is actually more than enough info and support if you look for it!
Hi,
I got a Vodafone Magic (UK).
It was on Android 1.6, so I reverted it back to 1.5 using the .zip file on theunlockr's site (After trying a failing at using eMagi's/Neoblade's .nbh file). I then tried to use Recovery Flasher to flash a new recovery, yet everytime I tried to flash it, I would only get a red vodafone screen where my recovery screen should be. So then I checked the fast-boot screen where it said all the details for my phone. And it read Sapphire PVT 32B HIP S-ON H which as you all know is wrong as (as far as I know) all 32B magic's should be G.
It was definetely a 'G' before yet must of somehow changed when reverting to android 1.5.
So after failing flashing a new recovery (from Recovery flasher/ Terminal Emulator/ Fastboot) I tried 'fastboot boot <amon ra recovery image>.img' - H version and sure enough it booted.
So my problem is that I know i've got a 32B handset which thinks its 32a.
(BTW I am in the process of rooting). How do you guys think I should proceed? Also can you tell me what precautions to take to make sure I don't brick my phone?
Thanks guys!

Someone help please!
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
Radio ?
I think your problem is due to your 3.x radio.
Try to flash a 2.x radio, either 2.22.19.26I you can find in HTC's developer website, or the newer 2.22.23.02 radio you can find in the G1 dev forum.
DO NOT FORGET TO CHECK RADIO COMPATIBILITY WITH YOUR HBOOT
To get your Magic fully 32B - you must flash official RUU for 32B Magics ... or ...
this nbh for UK Vodafone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4884067&postcount=1
p.s. nbh for UK, so you probably need create goldcard as you have Vodafone NZ
Goldcard avoids Customer ID check
I was looking for sense roms for my mytouch 3g 1.2 and found one that required the radio to be updated to 6.35 ( i double and triple checked to make sure the steps and procedures were specifically for the mytouch with the 32a board ) but after I followed the directions, my phone became unresponsive. It stayed at the HTC Magic screen for about an hour before I turned my phone off and back on again to undo what I had done ( using previous experience from a screw-up I did several months back...basically using the goldcard method to re-root my phone as if it were "new" again ). My problem is, now it's more unresponsive than it was before. it pauses at system - unzipping every time i try to use hboot to load the sappimg.zip. right now my current stats are:

and loads up a red vodafone bootscreen. i honestly think my problem was accidentally pressing the wrong link on Amon_RA's thread about perfected SPL, and i didn't realize it until it was too late... I cannot flash anything thru fastboot, hboot basically stops at system - unzipping when trying to run the sappimg.zip, and "fastboot boot recovery.img" loads the red vodafone screen, but doesn't flash boot the recovery so i can try and fix it with recovery...
all i need to know is if it's entirely bricked, or if i can still save it, and if so, a little nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated...i have been searching google, xda-developers, cyanogenmod, androidforums, etc. for the past 3 days and cannot, for the life of me, find out how to fix the issue...
EDIT: as always, when i ask for help, i end up fixing it somehow...
UPDATED!!!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I now have HBOOT!!! yay I missed those skateboarding androids
I want to be very careful from here on, so with hboot working is there anything I can do to get my phone back?
how I got hboot back:
I took the rom file out of a Australian RUU
replaced the radio with the one I currently have 3.22.20.17
replaced the hboot with a compatible one ( or so I thought )
and ran the mod'd RUU, which allowed it to get past the radio installation and instal new hboot
I am of course still semi bricked as I get a boot-loop ( sits at HTC magic screen for a few minutes than reboots )
and I still dont have access to recovery
I am still unrooted
and I still have a mismatched hboot/radio ( lol I ment to flash 1.33.0010H but I ended up flashing 1.76.0010H ) DOH!
so here I am with:

So I think I may have bricked my magic
from everything I've read, I cant seem to find a working fix for my problem.
I was originally on CM6 and decided I wanted a sense rom so I installed sfm 1.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025330
after running it for a bit I realized I couldn't get data access and found out I didn't upgrade my radio to 6.35.16.19
I also discovered for some reason I lost root.
I did something stupid without researching I went to the tutorial I used to originally root my phone.
http://greatbigdog01.wordpress.com/2010/07/12/new-shorter-rogers-magicmagic-rooting-guide/
at step 4 while installing the RUU it got stuck installing the radio and sat at 36% so like an idiot I pulled the battery.
now I am at a RUU USB screen
there is a picture of a microchip with a red x through it at the bottom
I have no recovery
I can run fastboot
I can only run adb shell after using "fastboot oem boot" which loads SFM 1.0
Every RUU Ive tried stalls installing the radio
everything I've tried to get root back fails
everything Ive tried to get recovery fails
any help on this would be immensely appreciated
Thanks

This may just totally frag my phone but I was wondering if this might work.
I've read a few posts of people fixing there 32b that was flashed using a 32a rom by flashing another 32a rom ( usually the Arabic one for some reason ) which gets them up and running to switch back over to 32b
would flashing a 32b rom just be a very very bad idea?
also I have access to another magic, could I use that in anyway to get me going.
just spit-balling ideas, dont really know enough to proceed without some advice.
Wow!! If Ive stumped the genius's here, I must really be screwed...
I tried a séance, and a little bit of black magik, in hopes of bring my phone back to life, unfortunately it didn't work.
any other idea's?
I'm pretty sure I can correct your issue with JTAG. PM me if you are interested in this as well as any others that see this.
Some new progress, read original post for update.
I tried something totally crazy without knowing what it would do, but it got me hboot back....lol
Just need to know where to go from here!
Thanks
Dan
