It is advised to flash an Official ROM prior to flashing another Custom ROM.
So my question is do we need to hard-reset after flashing a Official ROM over an existing Custom ROM?
Or we can flash the Official ROM and immediately flash a new Custom ROM over it?
i didnt hard reset when i did min f the first time...and im still using it and it works like a charm. but its probably a good idea to hard reset.
Hard-Resetting everytime for a 1.61 ROM is a pain, take two boots the first time and again two boots after the hard-reset. Then again hard-reset after flashing the Custom ROM.

HAPPY FLASHING
so yes my phone is rooted and all. i've always been flashing roms over and over. but ever since i flashed the AOSP 2.2 OTA my recovery image goes back to stock after reboot. so i have to use ROM manager to keep reflashing a recovery for me. This is the first rom i have that is doing this. Is there a way to fix it or just make it permanent?
fixed it. i just flashed another rom.
flash the rom and then immediately flash the kernel on the the tab before booting the new rom for the first time or should you let the rom boot up before flashing the new kernel onto the tabby.
Nobody? Does it make a difference?
I normally just wipe everything before flashing kernel.
I have been flashing the kernel right after the rom without any problems. Yes when installing a new rom I wipe everything as stated above.
When flashing a new kernel I have not wiped anything.

okay maybe you've answered this but i'm noting getting it i know how to install the kernel and rom but my question is you when you install your rom do you need to let that new rom boot up first and configure itself or after the rom says it's finish installing can i just instantly wipe the cache again and install the kernel before i even boot the rom up for the first time.
If you flash a non-wipe ROM over another ROM then there is a risk of getting errors such as "unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped" or looping errors. One way to fix this problem is to flash a full wipe ROM before flashing the non-wipe ROM you are interested in.
For example if you want to flash the UK XLP4 ROM which is non-wipe over the German XLPY ROM then you can first flash the full wipe XKL8 GB ROM then flash the XLP4 ROM which should work OK.
I discovered this the hard way and thought I had bricked my phone with the errors after flashing non-wipe ROMS.
I hope this information helps others and if it does then click the Thanks.
I wanted to upload a new rom to my phone (pine, 16GB), but it will never boot. Always after rebooting, TWRP will be loaded again. I'm tried multiple ROMs (LineageOS, DotOS, MokeeOS ), but the problem occurs for all rom. TWRP says, flash succed for every one system, but not booting after reboot.
I'm used twrp-3.5.0_9-20210101-pine-arm64 version. Only I can do flash a stock rom using MiFlash, but no custom rom via TWRP.
Mi device is correctly unlocked via Official Unlock Tool app.
Can you tell me why?
Thanks
Maybe try another twrp version or another completely like OrangeFox can't really tell you why i don't have as much knowledge in why or how it works but i have tried a lot on mine so this should be ur first troubleshooting step from my point of view also have you flashed the ROMs with their instructions some say the sequence you should format or wipe ur data etc...
Working for now,
The problem was that I didn't choose to Format data
