First time flasher, ROM dump possible before flash? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

First of all I feel obliged to say I'm sorry for creating a new thread just for these basic questions.
I have read the FAQs and searched through the forum, and it's a bit messy hence this thread.
First of all I want to have the security to be able to revert to the stock ROM in case something goes wrong.
1) I do not find any SWE-rom in the collection thread though. My question is, can I (or someone help me to) dump my 1.43 SWE rom?
Edit: Just found this link by chance in duttys signature:http://rapidshare.com/users/258XUJ
And the swedish rom is included here. I wonder why this is not included in the sticky thread (..........)
2) If I flash to a custom ROM with SSPL, can I flash a stock ROM back with SSPL or do I really need to go through all the hassle with the gold card etc? Is there no easy way to flash an official ROM?
3) If I use HSPL to upgrade my bootloader, my warranty will be affected if I'm not mistaken. Could HTC (or whoever who performs service) deny my phone because I've used HSPL from here? If so, is there any way to revert to the state before using the HSPL, that is to say load the previous stock bootloader?
Once again, if you find this thread unnecessary please just ignore it and let it die or delete it.
I did some searching and still had these questions left, and I'm in the middle of studying for an upcoming exam while my HD2 is pissing me off since my last (and first) hard reset (the WiFi is really bugging out).
So I hope this will save me some time (and maybe other newbies)

I'm not sure if there's a way to actually back it up, but u should be able to get the official one off the htc support website. htc.com/support
using sspl is only for custom roms, but hard spl is now available. it let's you flash anything.g..custom or official.

Thx for the reply,
The swedish rom is not available there unfortunately. Hence my problem.
Regarding the HSPL, I have another question:
3) If I use HSPL to upgrade my bootloader, my warranty will be affected if I'm not mistaken. Could HTC (or whoever who performs service) deny my phone because I've used HSPL from here? If so, is there any way to revert to the state before using the HSPL, that is to say load the previous stock bootloader?

I'm not really sure about hard spl yet..I've not had a chance to read about it..or needed it.
i think you can revert to original spl by using goldcard method...and with this, your warranty still intact... but just read about it in sticky to be sure.

You don't mean reverting SPL but flashing official ROMs right?
I did not read anything about the goldcard changing SPL?
Now that question 1 & 2 have been answered only question 3 is left.
A way to revert the SPL in case something happens and I have to send it for repair.

Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.

you're right...it is flashing original rom...but that removes hspl.
i think you should just read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433cuz i haven't...and don't think I'm qualified to give advice..

I see, that one I had missed. So it should be realitvely easy to restore both the SPL (by following the steps you quoted, no gold card needed) and the stock rom if one has HSPL, as long as one has the stock ROM (which I'm downloading atm )
In that case this is great news, I'll be ready to start flashing in no time

I dont get it. I downloaded the stock ROM from the link provided above, it is an exe-file. Just like an official rom release from HTC.
Does this mean that I can install a custom ROM with SSPL and revert to the stock ROM simply by running the exe-file while the phone is in ActiveSync, without any need of using goldcard/HSPL?

You need to extract the exe to get the nbh-file that you use to flash with SSPL. Just right klick and extract it, put nbh ans SSPL in a folder and run SSPL. Simple as that

Thanks alot for the help. I am ready to flash away

Confused....
Rather than creating a new thread I thought I'd post in here about a rom dump - and the troubles I'm having. (hope that's ok)
I'm trying to dump my official stock HD2 rom but something's not going right.....
I want to do this to have a backup before I start flashing custom roms and to also share it as I noticed it is not on the list in the sticky thread.
I'm using "dump my phone" which I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509708
Everything seems to run ok, but when I run the final part I get the following errors:
CopyTFFSToFile(0x0, 0x520000, Part01.raw)
ERROR: ITReadDisk: outbuf==NULL
- The device is not ready for use
CopyTFFSToFile(0x0, 0xdd80000, Part02.raw)
ERROR: ITReadDisk: outbuf==NULL
- The device is not ready for use
I found another site with details on how to backup the stock rom:
http://www.planete-htc.com/index.php?mod=forum&ac=voir&ref=30&cat=282&id=22438&debut=0
(It's in french but I could understand most of it) but I continue to get the exact same error as before.
I've tried on 2 different computers (XP & vista) but no joy. Can anyone please provide some advice on what could be causing the problem?
I'd really love to be able to backup this rom.
Thanks.

Hi, I successfully dumped my raw rom using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507
process.
the thread reffers to the raphael, so the numbers that are generated during the process (the coloured ones) are different, but take it slow, its an easy step by step.
Once the raw files are dumped, you will, then need to figure out how to rebuild them, but i 'think' kitchens can be used for that.

Why don't you guys just download the officially released stock ROM? In my case there was none to download (or so I thought) hence I started the thread. Later on I found link to the official ROM so I started flashing immediately =P

hehe, and thats why i never got around to figuring out the converting of teh raw dumps, I found my stock rom.

what if you need a stock rom that hasnt been uploaded to the website??
I'm still interested personally in converting the raw dump to a .nbh installable via hspl.

Go have a read of the thread i linked above, as i said, I dumped the raw files easy enough, and the rest of the process of reconstructing should be the same, although of course you will have to use leo source files and what not.

Thanks for the help......the methods in that thread are very similar to the ones I've already tried. I have everything copied correctly to my device, found my address codes, but whenever I run this line:
“pdocread -w -d DSK1: -b 0x800 -p Part00 0 0x31f000 Part00.raw”
I get the same error as I mentioned previously - the device is not ready.
I've tried enabling/disabling faster activesync connection but still the error occurs.

If I could find this exact version I would've done that by now, but I can't find it anywhere ROM version - 1.48.421.2 WWE

Hmm, three things to check,
1, the number 0x31f000 are you sure thats the right one, give as teh output of the "procread.exe -l" command? (Just checking you arent just copy/pasting teh thread commands)
2, are you using am external usb slot? i've found hspl doesn't instal over my usb slot in eth case of my machine, but does when i plug it into one of the slots directly on the motherboard, , maybe this is teh same?
3, is itsutils.dll running? is there a popup on your mobile with 'allow this program?' or something similar?

1 - I just copied/pasted what was in the thread, but I just ran the pdocread.exe again and it is the same address.
2 - I'm using a laptop but I've never had any connection issues with it previously.
3 - Not sure if that process is running. Nothing appears on the phone to confirm it.
Here's a really stupid question but am I meant to be doing this after I install HSPL? I haven't done that yet as I thought I could backup the rom beforehand.....

No, no need for hspl here.
OK, you changed the HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies setting, you soft reset. (Power propperly off and back on), you copied over itsutils.dll and moved it to /windows.
Next step is opening command prompt, did you open it as administrator?
oh wait, in your command
“pdocread -w -d DSK1: -b 0x800 -p Part00 0 0x31f000 Part00.raw”
are you sure it is DSK1:?
Cos im failry sure mine came out at DSK7 or something, pretty sure it wasn't 1...

MTTY procedure between ROM upgrades

Hi all,
i was used to perform a simple procedure using MTTY be4 loading a new ROM with my previous HTC Trinity.
Is there something similar suggested to perform with MTTY also with Polaris?
SHould i use exactly the same command of the Trinity?
I was used to do:
- task 32
- task 28
- task 2A
- info 8
- task 8
as said in another thread task 2A is not recommended.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2056080&postcount=51
It likely wipes the rom and bootloader together making impossible to access the device for a reflash...that is, unless you have the engineering tools that HTC uses to directly access and interface with a ROM.

your polaris will die then.
Don't execute task 2A or Polaris will die
Calm down guys, i can read while it seems that u cannot read and answer my questions.
The perfect answer should be:
- dont do this
- do this
thank you
I see one answer : no.
There is absolutely no need to execute any mtty commands on the Polaris. The RUU will erase the contents in the ROM and you'll end up with a clean ROM after every flash you do.
Why would you want to use mtty? What's the reason behind that?

Because i can't flash my polaris properly. For example I have android 2.1 Nand. And even if I flash
Original-SPL> Original WinMo6.1> few days of using>Hard-SPL> some build of winMo> hard-spl> Task29 tool> Formated SDcard> New NBH + New Android ROm..... I'll see the same, my OLD androids wallpepers, and old apps that wasn't included in new androidinstall.tar. There is what I mean saying "install properly ". And hope that low level format will solves issue. But I affraid to do this without HOWTO-manual or somebody's advices based on real expirience with MTTY and polaris((

Most suitable ROM for Magic

So I've caved in to temptation and rooted my Magic. Now I'm looking for a suitable ROM - I've been into the Sapphire wiki and looked at the ones listed in there but they don't really explain what is on the ROMs.
What I am looking for is a ROM that contains Exchange sync, multitouch and browser with Flash, and most importantly - stability!
Also a few more questions - can I use the Android market if I have a custom ROM? I ask because in the ROM discussions I've noticed a lot talking about adding and removing software using the adb tool. Are there any other pitfalls I should be aware of, seeing as this my first time applying a new ROM.
TIA
Firstly what version of the magic do you have, 32A or 32B.
It's best to check out the rom development section and read what each rom is about there.
And yes you can still use the android market, the icon is still in all the custom roms.
Mine is the 32B - UK Vodefone.
The problem is the threads for those ROMs are sometimes more than 100 pages long with little or no descriptions about what is contained on them ... unless I am missing something
Well the ROMs will always be updated on the very first page, there's usually some kind of description as well of what is and whats not included.
As with all these things it's best to try each one out for yourself and see what you do and don't like.
As long as you use nandroid to backup your phone then you can always go back to the rom you were using before you falashed a new one.
I've tried installing Fatal1ty's 32B ROM from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531617
(Fatal1ty-Hero-Full-v1-4-zip)
Rename it in update.zip
copy to sd
reboot (pressing home+power)
wipe
apply update
Click to collapse
It said the update.zip was bad ...? Thank god for the nandroid backup (cheers for the advice on that one), I was restored and working again straight away on my old config ... but what went wrong? From doing a bit more reading, is it because the ROM isn't signed? Or should I just download the file again and try again - perhaps it corrupted somewhere along the way?
Can you provide the exact error you got?

I've been caught out with something like this before - make sure the zip you are downloading is the actuall update zip! Open it and check it only has the 3 folders and boot.img in it.
The update.zip maybe in the zip you have downloaded
But on a side note - the Hero Roms aren't suitable (yet) for the 32B's as the RAM is too small - wait until they cut it down a bit.
I would recommened either Nk2 or CyanogenMod [v3.6.8] && Palm Pre theme [1.5] ported
The second being the fastest i've used (rapid infact)
Cheers - I tried downloading the rom again and this time used adb push to copy and rename it to the sd card, tried again and it worked.
I agree with what you're saying about the hero rom needing some work though. I can't use touchflo or the weather app as they are too slow. Browser is also quite a lot slower than on the stock Voda UK firmware.
I really like HTC Peep and the facebook integration into my contacts, and the HTC keyboard is a lot better.
On your advice I'll give the CyanogenMod rom a try. I would like to find one good one and stick to it rather than become addicted to flashing the latest roms every week!

I've been working on for the last week

queries about using HardSPL. Its designed

first thing about flashing.★
★Once you've watched a few, you will begin to
learn the different acronyms and be able to
recognize certain words and phrases in the
flashing process, but for now, heres a short
word list to get you started.★
★[Word List]★
LEOIMG.nbh/ruu_signed.nbh/[Randomname.nbh] - These are all the actual roms, the things you need to flash, usually they are called one of the first two names, but some rom chefs give their own names to the roms, but you can always distiguish which file you need as it will always be a "nbh" file and will always be the largest file in the archive/folder
SPL - Secondary Program Loader: Loads the actual OS. (The SPL is what lets you flash the different aspects of your device, however the stock SPL is 'CID Locked' which means only official releases from HTC can be installed.
HSPL - A 'custom' SPL created by the dark forces team (bepe and cotulla), this is CID Unlocked and it lets you install custom roms and flash any radio. The reason it is called 'Hard' is because it stays on your device after a flash, unlike 'Soft' SPL which is removed after a flash.
RUU - The official 'Rom Update Utility' from HTC which is used to do all your flashing from your pc, its essentialy a nice user interface for the SPL
CustomRUU - The custom Rom Update Utility from the dark forces team which is designed to be used with the HSPL
ROM - An operating system build from HTC, updated to bring you the newest functions and fixes
Custom/Cooked ROM - An operating system build built on a stock rom, these are created by 'Chefs or Cooks' who use 'Kitchens' to design their own roms to release to the community, these are usually alot better than stock roms and contain lots of custom tweaks from others in the xda community.

[Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for any damage that may be caused to your device, and be warned flashing HardSPL WILL void the warranty on your device, however it can be removed, thus unvoiding it]
Ok onto the videos!
[Note/Update: In one or more of my videos I say that this will not work locked phones (as in, bought in a contract) this is wrong, HSPL does allow you to flash new roms on to contract phones (for example: flash a custom rom onto a tmobile phone) However it will not unlock the deivce]

Making any changes to your phone using HSPL WILL void your warranty, and even if you remove HSPL and, for example, you have a custom rom still on your phone, your warranty will be void. However you can revert anything you do with HSPL thus getting back your warranty, I will make sure each method is on this thread, just make sure to revert everything changed with HSPL before you remove it.
Can I flash backwards? as in - From 1.61 to 1.48. Yes you can, you can flash any rom to any other rom with HSPL (thanks mskip for filling me in )
Always back up your phone. I recomend SPB Backup, it can backup not only contacts, but your whole system (programs, reg tweaks ect) however you may encounter problems if you try to restore everything, because the backup may have been made on a different version of manila/windows mobile
Hard resetting after a flash is usually recomended, it will optimize the rom
Always bare in mind the 2 main different manila versions (2.5.XXXX), 1921 and 1922. 1921 is the older one and so has more mods and tweaks designed specifically for it. 1922 is the newest and not yet totally stable version which doesnt support much yet, (however patchs and updates are starting to surface such as one for HDWall and 25 Shortcuts
If you are getting good signal ect with your current rom, make sure you take note of the radio version, it may be a good idea to back your old radio after flashing a rom if signal is not as good
Usually you will not have to reapply HTC hotfixes as most cooked roms include them in the package, however make sure there arent any recent updates which may not have been cooked in.
Side Note: All camera tweaks from xda users are usually pre cooked in aswell. (Talk about instant meals!)

Hi,
Nice work, but i dont agree with this video.
you DO NOT have to format the SD card every time you flash.
you just copy it over and and start the flash!
Nice vids though, just abit misleading! and to be honest takes a long time, I have 4Gb of data on an 8Gb card, for me to copy it off, format, flash and copy it back would take the best part of 90 mins!!

Well done for putting these videos up. Should help a few people to better visualise what they need to do.
@ Silicon Squirrel,
You may be right re your point on formatting but I see it as good practice as it forces people to double check that the card is formatted in FAT 32 (a common problem).

so yeah i agree format it ONCE the first time you do it, other than that it is a waste of time!
I have never in 15 years of using computers and flash memory EVER heard of that!

maybe you could note the fact that they only need to do it once, the first time, to make sure the file system is FAT32. then they would save much time in the future!
Also i wasnt saying the format would be long, i was meaning the copying on and off that is a ball ache!!

Good vids and just to echo an above post that seeing it being done makes it so very simple and thanks very much, it certainly helps new people like myself get to grips quickly.
I'd just add in a couple of vids you might want to add a bubble of 'connect via active sync'
About the format thing, meh!.. you get a 2gig card with the phone which is useless really except for rom stuff and the like. I wouldn't bother moving stuff around, just swap the card over.
cheers!

[TUT] How to Unbrand / Debrand your HTC HD2 with PSAS Goldcard [2010-11-29]

Tired of waiting until your service provider releases HTC updates for your branded phone?
Here comes your step by step guide on how to unbrand or debrand your HTC HD2/Leo using a PSAS Goldcard.
(Thanks go to svc und oliverweidel)
Introduction:
What does a Goldcard do? Mark's post answers this best:
"All a GoldCard will do is bypass the carrier ID check when you attempt to flash a stock rom via the microsd card that you wrote the GoldCard to. A GoldCard [as such] won't unbrand your phone, that is only acomplished by flashing an HTC Stock Rom [with your Goldcard]. If you flash a carrier's Stock Rom [with your Goldcard] then it will still be branded with whatever that carrier added to it. That means that you have to use that same card everytime you want to flash a stock rom and you have to use the same method to flash it (via the same microsd card). It wont sim unlock your phone and it wont let you flash any other roms apart from stock roms".
Note:
If you experience problems:
- Check first whether you have correctly followed each step carefully
- Read the Troubleshoot Section below
- Search the thread for a similar problem
- Post a question (Please do not send me a PM with support requests but post them. Thank you!)
A. Prerequisites:
A.1. Micro SD card (no SDHC [HighCapacity], it needs to be <4GB)
A.2. The "PSAS" Software
A.3. PC with ActiveSync or MobileDeviceCenter Connection to your HD2 (Guest is good enough)
B. Make your SD Card a Gold Card:
B.1. Back up your system (especially your SD-Card!! for a Goldcard you have to format your SD-Card)
B.2. Format your Micro SD card with FAT32
B.3. Insert your formatted SD Card into your HD2
B.4. Connect your device to your PC (ActiveSync/MobileDeviceCenter)
B.O.1. Option 1: PSAS Full Version:
..O.1.1. Buy your PSAS Full Version (30€). http://psas.revskills.de/?q=payment
..O.1.2. Following the link in the registration confirmation e-mail, download, install and activate PSAS
..O.1.3. Start PSAS (needs administrator rights)
..O.1.4. Goto "Calculators/Generators" - "Generate HTC Goldcard"
..O.1.5. Select Device Key “LEO”
..O.1.6. Click on "Get SD Card Serial from WINCE Device"
..O.1.7. Choose the right SD Card (note the Size under SD Card Info)
..O.1.8. Click on "Save Goldcard Image to WINSCE SD" (Alternatively, you can save the Goldcard image to file and write the image later - see Option 2.7)
..O.1.9. Now your Goldcard is ready
B.O.2. Option 2: PSAS free Version:
..O.2.1. Download an install the PSAS Free Version: http://revskills.de/downloads/revskills.zip
..O.2.2. Start PSAS (needs administrator rights)
..O.2.3. Goto "Hardware Forensics" - "WINCE SD Card Utils"
..O.2.4. Click on "Get Serial and Disk ID".
..O.2.5. Choose the right SD Card (note the size)
..O.2.6. Copy the displayed CID (i.E. 9E000000400000000000020002000000)
..O.2.7. Send the CID to a friend owning the full version to prepare your image
..O.2.8. If you don’t know one, send a PM to either "lyriquidperfection", "oliverweidel", "mskip", "sirsmiles" or me ("pcwe")
..O.2.9. Once you have your image, click on “Write Image File”
..O.2.10. Select the image you received (Goldcard.img)
..O.2.11. Now your Goldcard is ready

C. Flash HTC Stock ROM:
C.1. Download your HTC 3.14 Stock ROM
C.2. Extract your Stock ROM (RUU_Leo_S_HTC_XXX_3.14.XXX_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.1 5 .50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe)
C.3. Copy RUU_signed.nbh to your Goldcard and rename it to LEOIMG.nbh (Use the “Explore” Feature of ActiveSync / MobileDeviceCenter)
C.4. Switch Off your device (or remove the battery)
C.5. Press VOL Down and Switch Device on to enter Bootloader
C.6. Bootloader loads your Goldcard (grey screen) and flashes every part of your HD2 (Bootloader, Radio, OS…) Takes up to 10 mins.
C.7. When finished, Reboot your device (remove/insert battery or press red button)
C.8. Congratulations, now your HD2 is unbranded!!
D. Install favored ROM (Artemis!):
D.1. Download your favored ROM
D.2. Connect your device to your PC (ActiveSync/MobileDeviceCenter)
D.3. Run SSPL_RUU.exe with Artemis v40 RUU_Signed_0xxx.nbh in the same folder and follow the instructions
D.4. Hard reset (Press VolUp+VolDown and still holding both press PowerOn and follow the instructions)
D.5. Boot to homescreen
D.6. When on homescreen –> Softreset
D.7. For more information, read the first page of the Artemis Forum
*** Troubleshooting ***
In case you experience a problem check these points:
1. Is your card a no SDHC Card? -> SDHCCards (all cards 4GB or bigger) often cause problems, especially many of the no- or low-brand cards.
Then, follow these steps again:
2.1. Format your card again, using a Windows PC instead of the HD2's card utility.
2.2 File System must be FAT32 and allocation unit size 4096 Bytes
2.2. Make sure your card has no name (no Volume Label).
2.3. Double check your drive ID. You need the CID of drive ID 07.
2.3. Double check your CID.
3.1. Download your HTC Stock ROM a second time.
3.2. Extract RUU_signed.nbh from the newly downloaded Stock ROM again.
3.3. Rename RUU_signed.nbh to LEOIMG.NBH.
3.4. Copy LEOIMG.NBH to your newly formatted and try again.
4. It didn't help? Post a support request on this thread with a detailed description of your problem and when it occurs.
Note: Do not send me a PM with support requests but post your problem here. More persons can help you and others benefit from it as well. Thank you!
Nice job pcwe! Hope this will help many LEO owners to flash the great Artemis v.40 by Sir sternas...
So, HSPL actually will not be neccessary to flash 3.14 Stock roms (SPL 3.03...)

No, HSPL does not go well together with Stock Rom 3.14/Artemis40.
But using Goldcard, you don't need to remove HSPL before starting. It removes everything on the device.
Howdy,
very nice thread!
One question:
HSPL will be overwritten through this procedure - thats clear as eggs in eggs - but will the stock rom from sd card start to flash without hspl?
Maybe stupid, but I thought, I read something about this somewhere...

Shinson
Thanks pcwe. The goldcard image you sent worked perfectly. I was able to install the stock 3.14 ROM on my Telstra HD2, and then Artemis v 40.0 ROM

A gold card comes with its own boot environment. Its only kicked on by your bootloader (whatever version) and flashes all: Your current bootloader, radio, OS etc. Aftewards you have an unbranded HTC device like one bought in shop.
I, yesterday, tried the "gold card-method", following step by step the tutorial.
But, unfortunately, flashing process stopped at "Os" level.
I went back to artemis V37, but i'll try again, perhaps sdcard issue ?
Thank you for your tutorial, pcwe.

Try formatting your card on Windows PC (it must be FAT32). Then insert it into the device, but do not format it again. Then follow the steps to get to your CID and send a PM for another Goldcard image.
Sorry but I'm just a bit confused why you created a thread with the heading as [TUT] which has no tutorial apart from a link to the artemis roms thread which then links to another thread that gives instructions on flashing via a goldcard (which has already been written a longg time ago). I commend oliverweidel on offering to make goldcards for members as I have made about 20 in the last 2 days and it does get a bit tedious lol.
Maybe you could just explain to me why this thread is labeled as a tutorial when it has no tutorial when its really just a link to a tutorial.. Sorry im not trying to be mean or flame this thread I'm just a bit lost as to what its propose is lol
Ohh and I'm on my phone right now using xda app so if something didn't display and I actually missed the proper tutorial then i humbly apologize for this post lol.

Thanks for your input. I'm glad you mentioned that you're working on your phone. Maybe I misunderstand what a tutorial is. When you watch it on a PC, though, you see a tutorial that includes 4 sections with a total of 43 steps (including 2 options). I only link to the PSAS page and to the Artemis' frontpage. So IMHO this is a tutorial. Since you are a very experienced XDA moderator, I hope you get to see the full thread and let me know what you think about it. I'm looking forward to receiving your feedback.
(And yes, I made 15 Goldcards over the weekend, so I'm happy we can share the load )
When I turn the phone off after following all the steps and hold volume down and press power button the bootloader screen laods but it doesnt load the LEOIMG.nbh.
At the bottom it just says 'Serial'.
What am I doing wrong? I have followed all the instructions.
Although maybe I didnt get the correct Goldcard image? I went to the psas website and clicked on 'Free Goldcard gererator'
You then enter your email and sdcard id and you get emailed a goldcard image. Does this one not work?
I also got the phone to format the sd card as it does format it to FAT32

Ok I have to apologise as I just viewed this thread on my pc and it shows the whole of your first post including all the steps and yes I would regard it as a Tutorial
For some reason when viewed on the xda app it shows absolutely none of your tutorial apart from:
A. Prerequisites:
1. Micro SD card (non HCSD that is
Softreset

Maybe its all the quotes in your post but you can understand why I was confused when I first saw it lol
I may have to contact the creator of psas as ALOT of people are now asking for GoldCards and at the moment they can only be created with a paid for version of the program so if he has objections about using it to make goldcards for anyone who asks then it may have to stop. I originally asked him about 6 months ago for permission to make goldcards for members who had mistakenly flashed a stock rom via sd card whose spl wasnt covered by HardSPL (to get them out of a hole and allow them to flash a rom with a lower SPL). Looks like people are now wanting goldcards purely to change stock roms for which they should really be using a paid for version of psas.
I will try to get hold of him over the next few days and ask if he has objections to making goldcards for users who havent already buggered their phones up then I will let you know.
Keep up the good work
Mark.

That doesn't work, its for Android only (see the title of the page). You have to follow the instructions on the first page of this thread. You either need to by PSAS (Option1) or ask somebody that has it (Option2) to generate one for you.

Cant boot anymore

Hi folks, i'm looking for 2 days a way to solve my DHD problem:
It can't boot anymore. It pop up the "htc quietly brilliant" screen, play the boot sound and, start this step again, and again, and again...
So I'm googling a LOT about how to solve this, if exist a way to restore the original rom. Because i'm thinking that was the problem, my original rom is gone.
That happens when i try to install 3 softwares from appbrain, my device got freeze and i hit the power button to reset. So, after that, my device is gone.
So i came here, to ask you folks: There is a way to recover the original rom ? Without send to warranty (because it spend something like 1 month here).
I'm not a mobile hacker or something, i'm just trying to be happy with my device.
Thanks a lot and sorry for my poor english!!
Perhaps try booting to the bootloader, by holding Power + Volume down button. From there, you should be able to do a factory reset, which may or may not fix your problem. Worth a shot at least, imo
And if it does not work when you do a factory reset, you can use a rom.zip from HTC RUU to restore your phone.
Now the important thing is to know which HTC rom you are running. If it is unbranded, 1.72.405.3 is a sure shot. Download the RUU.exe from Stock roms thread in android development subforum, and run it. When the window pops up, open run prompt, and type: "%TEMP%". Then search for rom.zip, copy it to your desktop, rename it to PD98IMG.zip and put it to your SD card (I hope that you have a card reader). Then just reboot to bootloader as tmh described, and watch the magic happen
Then if your phone is branded, you can still use the same technique to make PD98IMG.zip, but you have to get the RUU that matches your branding. There are lots of RUUs in android development subforum, just search.
Hi guys,
thanks a lot for quik reply!
I perform the procedure indicated by tmh, but without lucky ;\
I think it is unbranded. I buy it at Portugal and i'm using at Brazil right now.
I'll perform your tip jkoljo.
I'll post a repply to let people know if it works or not.
Thanks a lot!!
Hope the advice the last guy gave helps , a factory re set may work fine and fix the issue. Iv had 3 dhd since the day of release , the second one I had wouldn't switch on, had it replaced by Vodafone . Not sure weather or not they will give you a new one . Hope u get it fixed

I'm not sure if i got cover from warranty.
Right now, my "PROOF OF PURCHASE" is at europe, and i'm at america, so i must get this work again by myself, or pay (some expensive value, i think) for htc support.

but i'm not sure about "WWE". What it means?

the different is just the radio version. just try flash one of them and see if that work.
WWE means World Wide English, which is an international release
Any one of those RUUs you linked is ok, as hedayat7 already said.

Sorry ask for your help again, but at Official thread (thread number 841207) for DHD files, both 1.72.405.3 links are broken.
So i search for another thread, and found another one, but when i run the .exe, it ask for a USB connection to device, so it appears wrong.
Could you gimme a hand to find the correct file?
PS: I can help with a web hosting to all correct files.
You probably found the correct RUU, now proceed to %TEMP% and copy rom.zip to desktop.
You can find RUUs here: http://xdafil.es/index.php?path=DesireHD/RUU/
I am not completely sure if those zip files are actual rom.zips, you can check that. Open up the zip, and if it has a long list of hboot, system, android-info.txt etc, then it is rom.zip and you can just go ahead and rename it to PD98IMG.zip.

But i did that.
The "1.72.405.3" files at this URL are broken (Or need password to access it, because "You don't have permission to access" message pop up).
When i run the RRU i got two screens, first i must accept a advice, the second one ask if I have a USB connection to my device. Even when i proceed to next step, i got no .zip file on my %TEMP%.
Im lost because of that lol
UPDATE: OK I FOUND IT! haha ty
Thanks a lot my friends,
but it doesn't work.
I perform the process for 2 different roms, and it doesn't work.
Still can't boot.
I'll sent for warranty and wait a loooong time..
But thanks a lot for help me with this!!
Ok, then there is something wrong in the device itself. You have to send it to a service center.

Hi again,
i keep a little hope that i can restore my phone, so i found a possible solution:
OTA update.
At "showthread.php?t=667728&page=2", i found a guy with the same problem i think, here is the quote:
Kinma said:
I had the same problem last week.
I suspected it had to do with the EXT3 partition.
Solved it by first flashing the OTA 2.2 ROM (for rooted users) as this does not use the EXT3. Then used Rom manager to recreate the EXT3.
Now all ROMs that use the EXT3 run fine!

So, i start a search for OTA update file here, and found at "showthread.php?t=885996".
But when i choose "Apply sdcard:update.zip", i got INVALID OPERATION.
Someone have a tip for me about this?
Thanks (its very sad, but i must keep hope).

You are welcome.
What happened was that after a reboot of the phone the phone started rebooting in the boot sequence, i.e. a boot loop.
I tried a lot of things and nothing worked.
Finally I suspected that the problem might be with the SD card. I had a backup, so I had no problem doing a factory reset.
Then I booted the phone without the SD card.
The phone booted fine.
That way I was certain that the problem was with the SD card.
I had 2 partitions on the SD card, an EXT3 part and the rest was a normal Fat part.
I could still read the card, so I made a backup of all the data on the card.
Then I reformatted the card using windows.
The phone booted fine with an empty, reformatted, SD card.
Since I use Apps 2 SD, I had to recreate the EXT3 partition.
If your rom does not use this, you do not have to do this.
After recreating the EXT partition, put back all files that I want on my SD card.
My advice would be to do a factory reset and after that boot the phone without the SD card.
If the phone boots, you know the problem is with the card.
Hope that helps; good luck!
