I would like to use mobile.southwest.com. However, it detects that I am visiting with a PPC and redirects me to the main site.
The problem with this is that I often want to check in, and if you do it from the main site but don't print a boarding pass, when you "reprint" a boarding pass at the airport, it reclassifies your boarding group. If you check in with the mobile phone, it remembers that you are boarding class A.
I tried installing opera mini (which, since I use a T-Mobile MDA, required installing a midlet manager) and then going to mobile.southwest.com, but southwest still redirected me to the regular site.
Has anyone figured out how to go to the southwest wap site?
there is a registry setting, so your browser will be detected as a desktop pc,
don't remember the setting you have to search like registry setting for IE6
I need the opposite
The problem is that mobile.southwest.com is detecting my ppc as a desktop pc, and thus assumes I have an attached printer. I want to tell it that I am not a desktop pc.
How to spoof a desktop pc is in the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other&version=70
but I haven't been able to find how to spoof, say, a treo (on which this mobile.southwest.com returns wap content).
Tried them all
I have now tried PIE, Opera mini, Minimo, and Netforce 3.3, and can't reach mobile.southwest.com on any of them -- I'm sent to the main site instead. So clearly it isn't a browser issue but some other settings. Does anyone know how to spoof a wap browser?
The solution to this problem turns out to be to use a WAP browser. The two main ones are Klondike ($23) and winwap ($50). Klondike's trial has a not-very-obnoxious trial reminder periodically but my understanding is that it works indefinitely, which is very nice of them.
I tried the Tweaks2k2 changes and nothing helped with getting mobile southwest to work.
I downloaded Netfront 3.3 and if you allow WAP on the program, the mobile southwest will load correctly.
I called southwest before doing all this and got nowhere.
If anyone has an idea of getting the default browser to work, I would like to know before, I pay for Netfront.

Skweezer.net
Have any of you tried skweezer.net? It's a site that condenses web sites for small screens. I went there on my LAPTOP, entered mobile.southwest.com into the search window, and brought up the mobile version of southwest.com. I surfed the mobile site for a while. I even looked at the mobile pdf schedules page. Southwest.com never detected that I was surfing from a laptop, not a mobile device since I loaded the page through skweezer. I think skweezer might fix both problems.
Works for me

Cool! This works!
Nice Bass Aggie.
Skweezer compressed the web site but it still does not bring up the mobile website.
Any other ideas on how to get it to work on PIE.

Hello,
I have a little problem with watching tv channels on my hd2, when i go to the specific site with internet explorer everythings works i see the channels and the links work.(sorry it's only available for Belgium and only if you have a contract with Mobistar )
When i go with opera 9.7 then i get other pages and not the pages with the links for the channels.
i already have changed the agent in opera, the same as internet explorer but no good.
any Ideas?
could be that opera goes through their own servers before being sent back to you whereas ie is a direct connection? if that makes sense
My 7.7 cannot load the following web page using WI-FI at home:
WWW.TVCatchup.com (when I type it into the address bar and press return)
I've also tried linking to the page froma the result of a google search but that doesn't work either.
I've tried several browsers but it always says "web page not available"
I can load the page using my laptop or Note so nothing wrong with my Internet connection.
I think this problem is related to my TVCatchup app not working for I also cannot load the iphone.tvcatchup.com page either.
I'm really stumped on this problem and would be grateful for any ideas
I have downloaded the Ping & DNS app from the Google Play store and used that to test TVCatchup.com and it could not Ping it and I've done a route trace to show where it failed.
I also Pinged Google.com and I attach my 7.7 screen shots to show the results.
So it seems my 7.7 is ok but there is a problem reaching TVCatchup
I would be grateful for any ideas where to go now.
Where in the world are you?
I believe Tvcatchup is UK only. Whne I first ran it , it identified my ISP (Virgin) and confirmed the service was available. Then went on to flawlessly stream to my wifi only Tab.

I live in the UK and I can use TVCatchup on my Note.
I attach the traces from my failed 7.7 and successful Note.
It does look like the trace fails when it reaches UK servers.
So my 7.7 not only cannot get the TVCatchup app from the Play store to work, but as can be seen from the attached pictures it cannot even access the TVCatchup website.
SUCCESS
I changed the router and that fixed the fault. It is strange that the original router worked with my laptop and Note but not the 7.7.
I searched briefly & had no luck, but this was a pretty simple find, so I am sure many have already worked this out...
At any rate, we all know that Amazon says "coming soon" on using networks that require a web page sign in for internet access, like you find in many hotels & other establishments that require you consent or a password to be entered via a network sign in page...
As a frequent traveler, one of the reasons I have both the Fire TV & the Stick, was to be able to take my show with me. Well, I was not happy to find this as the case on an updated unrootable device while on the road. I didn't have ADB to push any apps on my device, but wanted to buy the latest Hobbit movie, so I found a work around that was simple & required no laptop, no usb, just an initial network you can access, like from home or work, or any open network.
At any rate, all you need to do is install the HTML5 App Tester apk, found here: http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Digital-Services-Inc-Tester/dp/B00DZ3I1W8
Once installed (which requires an open or secure access point without a required web sign in (I used tethering from my mobile device), you then go to the web page launch & set up anything as an address, since those hotel access points redirect you anyway. I set up www.google.com.
The you just select the hotel or other log in/accept terms/enter password on web page as your network in settings & once it connects, go to settings, Applications, Manage All Application, scroll to the Web App Tester & launch it from the menu & then launch the web page from the Web App Tester application. It will then redirect you to the sign in page on whatever network you are connected to & voila, you are now connected to the Internet & can steam your heart out, unless they have firewall restrictions of course... So far, it has worked on every hotel network I have tried. All Hilton & Sheraton families of hotels, DoubleTree & numerous botique or one off hotels B&B & other chains.
You're in luck. Amazon is pushing an update that lets you the Fire TV connect to public networks with login pages such as hotels or dorm rooms: Amazon Media Room: Press Releases
Beforei the update couldn't you simply do it by sideloading a web browser so that fire can open links, then sign-in in a web browser.. of course you would need a mouse and keboard, but like the other guy mentioned a nice OTA is incoming!

Another easy thing to do is to solve the issue externally. Check out getting a HooToo Tripmate.. It will let you start up an authenticated wireless hotspot and you can connect to it with anything you want - roku, firetv, tablet etc. It works for networks that require web page login, or WIFI password authentication. It has other advantages as well you might like - usb battery pack etc.. Depending on the model, they start at $20.. I never take a trip without mine.. It has become a priceless addition to my equipment..
