Is it possible to take the textmessage part (SMS) from Sense 2.1 and put it into a Sense 2.5.
Because the 2.1 is much faster than the 2.5

topaz compatibility?
did someone test it with our topaz?
it seems to only work on some phones.
Tested it and it works pretty great.
Yet, my SENSE 2.5 was pretty slow nevertheless - so went back to a speedy 2.1. And now all is well.
But again, it's pretty solid - yet not bugfree.

Sorted it for me in that ROM.

Ok, I use Topix all the time, so I am used to speed and smoothness. (Thanks KWBR!)
But I am trying some WM 6.5 roms with Manila 2.5 and they are all so frikkin slow! But when they sum up the features of the ROM in their start post, it says tweaked for perfomance, smoothness, etc.
But damn, they are all so slow...
EDIT: Have a look at this movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qj6Y7XnC4I
It's on a touch pro 2, but much smoother! Same hardware no?

But is the device a leo then? I believe they only do a PREVIEW of the Leo's manila, but just on a touch pro 2?
The ROM looks like EnergyROM
yep, its flashed onto a Touch Pro 2. Somehow Diamond2 and Touch Pro 2 look more responsive in manila.
i have blackstone and tp2 both with nrgz leo from 23-09-09 and i personali think the tp2 is much faster and way more responsive dont know how this comes
maybe because of different motherboard ot other chipset
try Dutty's Leo R4 at htcpedia.com....it works great on the HD, only thing is it doesn't have twitter
When I tried Miri ROM with Manila 2.5 all were slow because Manila 2.5: now I'm using Manila 2.1.
Maybe I'll try Manila 2.5 when Official Version will be released with few bugs.
D'rath
currently using miri's latest rom and it is quite responsive but with some minor bugs!! but still a great rom..
what are the Energy ROMs like?? i havent tried them due to complains about battery life i think!!
Forget WM 6.5 on Touch HD
Pfff, last week I was bored on an hotel room and saw a lot of new ROMs from Dutty, Miri, PDAviet, Laurentius26... I had tried ROMs from them for Kaiser, so I gave them a chance.
No way man, all WM 6.5 ROMs are so slow and diffiicult to use... in most of them something fails, QuickGPS / Power properties / Twitter tab / Opera 9.7 text reflow...
I'm back to HTC stock ROM and that's speed, and everything works as expected. I suppose Touch HD 2 with a CPU twice as fast and new drivers, can handle Manilla 2.5 better, but for the moment, I do not see any advantage...
btw i think there is speedy m2.5 on blackstone
well im using nrgz ''leo'' series and i have to say i can use it for everyday
(but tp2 feels a little faster)
not everything works ok as it should like i cant get my location to work(but i can set it up manualy so i use that for the weather on homescreen
installes zenyees cab(really thankfull for this) to disable htc messaging
and further i use the speedtweaks from wvga tweak
for the so called battery problem i get two days by putting the light on automatic and normal use 5 or 6 message and a few phone calls and a litlle interneting
so eveything is fine for me with nrgroms
And I am back again to Topix 3.0
The only ROM series that impresses...

I tried Dutty's Leo R4 ROM and found it to be a little sluggish for me, so I went back to Stock ROM like yourself, but then I thought I'd try Dutty's v4.3 WM6.1 ROM with Manila v2.1 after reading some good reviews and I'm glad I did - it's much better than Stock in my opinion and I find it runs quicker in everything.
Plus I quite like the new Calendar tab in Manila v2.1
MOD EDIT
Move to General Discussion as not related to rom development
Tried Dutty and PDAViet's version of Manila 2.5 with 6.5 and found them to be way to slow for everyday use.
Now i'm with the Energy ROM one and it's a lot better, it's faster and more stable.
people .. ive flashed almost every rom out there .. if u really want manila 2.5 try mirri winmo 6.1 with manila2.5 its much faster then any winmo 6.5 rom, but i am back to stock rom witn spb mobile shell 3 installed believe me ppl its much better graphically and responsive then is manila 2.5
vcespon: pfff, speak for yourself dude.
I would never go back to a stock ROM.
*** Wanted: Contacts from Hero Sense W/O the LAG ***
I am looking for a ROM that is ZIPPY like the Donut builds... but has the Contacts Manager / DialPad from the 1.33 Hero Builds.
"Sense" is just too laggy on this old phone for me.
I have turned it off for now, but is there a better option?
Are there any other builds that have the HTC Sense Contacts/Dialer without the rest of the Sense interface?
DON'T GET ME WRONG.... I LOVE THE SENSE INTERFACE!!!.....
It is just very laggy on my phone (running from SD card) and I get frustrated waiting 5-10 seconds for APPs to respond.
Any thoughts?
bumpity bump
HTC Contacts is a closed source development, people haven't found way to make it compatible with AOSP/ION builds. Hence, no soup for you.
Hi,
my os is still winmo 6.1 and i don't really want to upgrade to 6.5 yet (because the next g rom isnt out yet and i dont want a different version). but i do like the htc sense UI with the weather in the middle of the time animated and the colourful task icons.
i want something like this:
http ://www . redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/HD21.jpg
is it necessary to upgrade to 6.5 to have this? or can i have it and still have 6.1?
thanks
Jackos hybrid rom includes WM6.1 and Sense 2.1... He is also working on Sense 2.5 for WM6.1, I believe. Check it out, I tried and it's really stable. Only a couple minor bugs. But there's a ton of free RAM and it's really quick! Link below:

okay COOL! thanks
but will you tell me what kind of bugs are there? thanks again
AND another thing - will i be able to still keep my old touchflo3d interface (like i can choose either this jacko rom or the one i have now on the today settings), or will this completely change my interface? thanks
Jacko ROM rocks.. I have been using it intensively for a whole week...
and frankly... together with the Tarkim's Keyboard Configuration Apps... they save my TP2 from being dumped into the drawer... You must try it out if you want Sense on 6.1 (I don't want 6.5 too.. as I hate that stupid honeycomb interface which takes away my keyboard quick selection ...)
is there any way to get the sense with the weather without flashing a new rom?? if not is there any way to flash roms on a mac and or unlock my tp2 on a mac? what about backing up/syncing my tp2?
is there some sort of fix for that freeze thing my phone do. ever since i updated to the new htc rom for my tp2 whenever i exit my text messages it freezes. its rather annoying or should i just get another rom with the manila sense 2.5
You could try a hard reset.
Have in mind Sense 2.5 sure it will run slower than Sense 2.1

ok cool. thanks for the advice. one more question...what made them give us sense 2.5 if its not designed for tp2 devices
This same thing used to happen to me.. I'm on a custom ROM, so this may or may not fix your issue:
Open your messages window
Click Menu and select MMS Options...
Uncheck "Disconnect from network after sending/receiving messages"

That's not entirely true; there are official roms with sense 2.5 in them. But you are right in that they will be slower than 2.1.

Man what a mistake. There is a Sense 2.5 designed for Rhodium.

My mistake mate
I am sorry.
As other members said, there is an official upgrade to Sense 2.5.
Buy my thoughts are the same: 2.5 just don´t run as smooth as 2.1
STOPPPPPPPP!!!!!!
Did I get your attention?
Alright, good. Don't do a hard reset, that won't fix anything. Just delete your old text messages. Problem solved!
This was driving me nuts for awhile and I couldn't figure out what the problem. Just delete all your old texts and if problems persist uninstall HTC Task Manager if you installed it.
This WILL solve your problem.
I recently ran into the same issue with my new tp2 freezing up on me. It turns out i had 3000 texts in in my sms folder. I cleaned out the old messages and things returned to normal. BTW is there a way to limit the length of old conversations or atleast only store the last 50 or so texts? I had conversations dating back to 2008 (imported contacts and texts using pimbackup) with my wife.
the freezin issue sucks.i have the rhodium and until i stated digging i had the same problem..on the htc home site in the downloads there is a hotfix.works like a charm.
Tried to run on my [email protected] Sprint running MR. X ROM . Says not compatible with device .
Is there a big difference in performance between the two? Also how is the memory usage? I would test it but atm I don't have the time to flash new ROMs and then if I don't like them to reflash back. So if it isn't a worry for you please share your opinion. Thank you
yes, there are many differences.
sense 2.5.2012 is working smooth on the blackstone. Don't be reluctant to try it.
you can check the differences on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5176648&postcount=6
have used them both.i rather stick to 2.1 bc i dont use the 3 quicklinks in 2.5
also you have kinda a quicklink in the "programs" tab.place that as second and you have kinda a quicklink.2.5 is quicker then the old one.
I'm another one that prefers 2.1
Quicker, for my needs, only thing I would like is the 2.5 Sense People Tab, the email one has been ported as a cab to be installed on 2.1 was wondering if anyone knew if the People tab had been too?
I'm not using any manila/sense right now (I love Pocket Plus ), but 2.1 is far more better for me - direct link to call history in Home tab, appointments preview, Programs tab with All Programs link, it's smoother, faster etc etc...
Another vote for 2.1
I'm not a great fan of quicklinks
so even when I used 2.5 I used max manila to hide them
The app called Flix is a bit memory fussy
so It switched from 2.5 to 2.1
these days I use a 6.1 wm, 2.1 sense combo
yeah, rhodium sense 2.5 runs smoothly enough for everyday use.
after installing Co0kie's Home Tab, you can customize it in so many ways that once you get used to it, it is hard to go back to sense 2.1.
smaller weather clock; bar showing # of missed calls, new sms and emails; up to 5 appointments showing; up to 20 quicklinks showing in a single screen; and many other customizations, makes me think how better htc programmers could have done it from the beginning.
As this is a discussion between 2.1 and 2.5 and has no relevance to development I've moved this thread to general dicussion
Another one here with preference to 2.1
I simply more like the way contacts and mail are displayed in 2.1 than in 2.5
Also, I'm dependent on Programs tab... I'm almost dependent on having 15 links to programs...
Another vote for 2.1
