HP 614c bricked - Sable

Hi All,
I accedently flashed the wrong ROM in my HP 614c so I think I bricked it.
I was trying to flash this ROM and only after it was not able to boot anymore i noticed that it was for the 9xx series.
I have tried this but i cant seem to get into download mode also I dont know if this will work with a x64 based PC.
Does anyone have a solution i might try so I will be able to use my HP again? As an emergancy solution im now using a Nokia 3310
Greetings,
Soulslayer

first you need x86 Windows! (there is no x64 drivers), either real x86 windows or running x86 windows in virtual box/vmware player in x64 windows or windows xp mode in win7.
2nd did you make sure you press the right combination of buttons to get into download mode? the button combinations are the 2 side buttons (ok + voice command) and then power button. dnw is the only way to restore as far as i know if sdloader failed

Thnx for the idea and the hints. I tried them all but no of them seem to work. My x86 windows XP is not detecting my HP in download image mode. When I try to add the driver manually i get the following error message: "The specific driver does not have the information about the hardware youre installing."
So it was not possible to download the image for there I decided that I bricked my IPAQ. I already orderded a new phone which is a Sony Experia X1.
Thanks again for all the tips and support!

Can't flash wizard can flash hermes?

I'm using vista home and have flashed many a rom on my hermes with wmdc after following the steps here:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=27
My problem is i can flash my hermes but not my wizard.
I get MFC application has stopped working.
Anyone point me to why this is happening as when i've searched the results point to doing the above?
Bump
Just a quick bump see if i get lucky?
Im using Windows Server 2008 64bit so vista modem drivers n stuff are no go.I know how manually select the drivers, but windows just says they are incompatible (INCOMPATIBLE, not up-to-date or anything else - windows just says they perhaps arent good for x64 etc even for the 64bit ones).
So here is what i done and what WILL WORK ON ANY SYSTEM - from win 2000 to win server 2008 64bit or windows 7 beta or whatever your using.
Install vmware (i used VMware Workstation 6.0.4 Build 93057)
Install WinXP-SP2/3 on it
make sure the usb device is selected on the top of the vmplayer.
install activesync, sync the phone.
install .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 OR NEWER
start the ruu wrapper
flash & enjoy.
no need for crappy drivers, just install vmware, flash, uninstall vmware.thats all.

Is it possible to free the Vista recovery partition?

As title!
Is is possible to delete the Vista recovery partition from hardisk and free the space?
Hi
Have a look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378890
Should be possible. Remember it looks like it is difficult to get full functionality from an alternative Vista installation so you may not want to destroy this partition unless you have a backup and/or HTC release full downloadable drivers.
Recovery partition
I have used BartPE to boot off an external USB DVD Writer.
From within BartPE you can then use Ghost to capture the ENTIRE drive.
The ***Hidden*** restore partition cannot be see by anything, not ghost, not partition magic, not acronis, it simply is not there.
My belief is that this is due to a BIOS restriction and the FN+F3 boot that does allow the restore is either.....
1. A special mode where the bios can see the hidden partition
2. The actual recovery image is on a separate flash area that we can't see.
Either way having the ghost will recover the hard drive.
I have installed both XP and Linux on the Shift and still been able to reboot, press FN+F3 and do a vista re-installation.
This makes me believe the image is on a separate flash device that only the BIOS section can see.
Hope this helps.

Dude my findings are the same, How did you get XP working did you use the vista drivers? did they work? if not where did you get the drivers from? Please tell as I really could do with a dual boot PC
XP.....
Hi there...
I basically tried installing XP SP2 and then XP Tablet Edition.
Both work great, minus a load of drivers.
You have approximately 800MB RAM free and it flies but you lose all the ability to do touch stuff.
There are drivers i've found out there for the sound/graphics/thumbpad and usb network but others i couldn't find.
As to installing XP it's simple, boot off a USB DVD with XP and just install it, format the entire drive (don't worry it won't see or kill the recovery vista partition if it is a partition, still think it's a separate flash card) and install.
As to the dual booting this is not possible.
I halved the drive using Acronis Disk Suite and whilst it would install, i created two PRIMARY partitions and made the second one bootable.
On restarting i installed XP but then i couldn't get VISTA to boot once i made partition one bootable.
Basically to dual boot XP/VISTA you must install XP first, then install VISTA.
However having investigated this I can find most of the additional software / drivers but the VISTA that is restored is a very optimised installation and just installing VISTA Ultimate or even normal Business may not provide the same experience.
Until we can get access to the RESTORE AREA and get at the image (whatever it may be) I think killing the drive completely to reload VISTA won't be possible.
Our only real hope I think is to get HTC to release XP Drivers (I'm still at a loss to explain why they chose VISTA over XP Tablet Edition). The performance increase with XP over VISTA is quite staggering but the loss of functionality makes it pointless at the moment.
Blitz
Whilst it does provide a much faster overall experience at this time without the driver support it's pointless.
Again Linux is the same, I haven't yet tried installing OSX on it, but that would be even more problematic as Apple don't do drivers for most of the hardware out here that XP / VISTA will detect.
I have resorted to going back to VISTA and removing Origami and a few other bits and pieces and updating to SP1.
I find the whole shift now is much better after installing SP1 and without Origami 2.0 on it.
Hope that helps.

installing Windows XP alongside Vista
I've used the method described in this link to install XP on my U810 as a dual-boot alongside the pre-installed Vista.
http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/about88231.html
blitzspear, what devices were not working in XP besides the touchscreen?
Missing drivers
Everything was missing,
had to download VGA driver from intel. but you lose some of the resolutions.
There is a sound driver and a USB Network device available and the mousepad worked.
There's a PCI device missing and no SD/wifi and chipset.
So basically not a lot works.

Blitz
IIRC the Raon Digital Everun has the same SDIO Wifi component. Maybe you could try its driver?

EDIT:
I found this and completely solved my problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524619
If you know someone with WinXP, you're better off putting the files you're working with on a USB stick and using their machine for a little while. I tried on Vista 64bit and tried to make it work in a Virtual Machine with XP running and got stuck at the MTTY/TeraTermPro part.
I was working on someone's WinXP pc recently and when done, I popped in my USB key with all the cellphone tools I was using and completed the process using the PC. I had to load ActiveSync, but that uninstalls really easily.
Good luck!
I wonder how these tools would work in Windows 7 using the XP mode compatibility addon...
how about win7 plz ,
whatever i do , no USB port at mtty

MAupgradeUt_noID and Windows 7 64 bit

Hello, could anybody help please?
I am trying to run MAupgradeUt_noID, but I get the error message that there is a missing .dll.
What I have is Lenovo N500, 4 GB of memory, 2 GHz dual core, Windows 7 64 bit, conexant high definition smart audio 221, 250 GB hard disk, Windows 7 experience rating 3.5.
I had a look through this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630416 and wondered whether there was anybody who had found a way to flash using Windows 7 64 bit?
I don't have access to a Windows XP machine.
Use MS VM XP Mode
Okay, I have downloaded the virtual XP and it all works fine. I tried running Maupgradeut-noid but I got the error message this application failed to run becauseRUU.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this.
So on the virtual XP machine, I tried loading ActiveSync 4.5. It still came up with the same error message.
When I run the Maupgradeut-noid the only other file in the directory is nk.nbf
any help appreciated.
you need all this files:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/t8vgu9
+ the nk.nbf file in the same folder
it works in XP mode! (if needed put in bootloader mode = reset+power button+camera button)
Okay, now I have done all that, encountered another problem..
Everything runs okay but I get the error message;
"The ROM utility does not design for your device. Please get proper ROM upgrade utility and try again."
Now on the front of my telephone it says Xda lls. It has four buttons the okay button, Internet button, e-mail button, and the home button. Below that it has a navigation button/s and the telephone on and off button. A keypad slides down from behind the telephone. I am absolutely positive that this is a blue Angel.
Any suggestions welcome.
It works perfect with BA. I had to put it in bootloader mode.
Here is a picture of my telephone to confirm that it is indeed a Blue Angel.

Yes it is!
When you put it in bootloader mode is it recognized in windows?
After that do you share that USB connection in XP mode?
