Skyfire really slow over 3G + Wifi - HD2 General

Is it just me? Trying to watch anything is constantly buffering, I am in highspeed area and even if I use wifi, it's rubbish at best. Are there anyways to improve performance of Skyfire? Or should I just forget about it and uninstall?
Am using latest version.

Skyfire is not the fastest browser.
I only use it for heavy flash oriented webpages.

I have no problems with Skyfire streaming, no buffering on WiFi or HSPDA! Must be a connection issue your end mate.

Was thinking about installing Chainfires LEO drivers to see if that improves anything but to be honest can't be bothered . Other browsers are fast as hell, myPlayer streams like a demon as well. May post on Skyfire's forum.

Oh that is strange that other browsers are fine

I get the same crap. Skyfire is slow with streaming for me too. May be the latest build, who knows...

Are there settings or configurations I can play with in Skyfire?
Update, removed all the stupid feeds from home page, cleared cache and history, deactivated hint for mobile and now Youtube is streaming ok but iPlayer still rubbish.

How do we get BBC iPlayer mobile working for this phone?

Anyone know a way to get iPlayer working in Opera on this phone?
Would be great if it worked, also for Non-Brits,
iPlayer can't exist within any browser on WinMo at the moment due to lack of support but you do have 2 options.
Either you can download myPlayer (my personal preference and works fantastically well, especially when paired with Coreplayer) or the Opera hack that's well known.
The second option will only allow Opera to display the iPlayer website, however, and streams are opened in Steaming Player which seems to be rather hit and miss. It also doesn't work over WiFi, only 3G so make sure you have an unlimited data plan before you use it!

You can view it in opera...you have to fake the user agent to allow it to be viewed
Follow this..
This
works fine =D

...like I said the hack will allow you to view the iPlayer site in Opera but the streaming videos are opened separately in Streaming Player (or whatever you specified in the Opera.ini file as an alternative.)
Streaming Player is not brilliant at viewing streams and it only seems to work over 3G, certainly on my TP2 anyway.
Would still recommend myPlayer paired with CorePlayer. I use it extensively on my phone and it works brilliantly over both 3G and WiFi.
I agree with h0wz3r.
Till BBC releases the iPlayer for the TP2 myplayer + coreplayer is the next best thing.

skyfire and iplayer

hey guys. iv just installed skyfire hoping to be able to use iplayer but upon starting a program i get a message telling me im not in the UK but i am so whats going on. im really liking my hd2 but cant believe the hassle im having regarding watching videos off the net on it, iv never had this problem with older phones iv owned. id have thought with the cutting edge power this phone has watching vids would have been a breeze.any advice guys.....?
It is possible to use Skyfire to watch iPlayer but the results are not that great - video is very jerky. The best iPlayer experience is to use an app called "myplayer" which you will find here on XDA if you do a search.
thanks for that, ill try it.....
Hi

Again, use myplayer. (But note that you will use up your data allowance very fast this way).

Watch flash videos on news.bbc.co.uk?

Hi
Can anyone tell me if I should be able to watch flash videos from the BBC news website? I am using stock opera 9.7 and I can't view them. I know that the device is not flash 10 compatable (gggrrr) but am unsure if I should be able to view the videos embedded on the bbc news site. Can anyone else??

It used to be possible to play them in Internet Explorer, but I've a feeling the BBC may have changed the format recently. I don't think they'll play in Opera Mobile 10, either, even though that does have some flash support. Your best bet is probably to use Skyfire.
They work in IE just fine for me, even the watch live streams for bbc2 ,3 etc work the only videos that dont work for me on the BBC site are the Live bbc 1 stream and iPlayer which show green and garbled stuff
Opera has never worked on the bbc videos for me at least, always moans about no javascript enabled or wrong version of flash
just tried to use IE and when I click a video IE crashes and closes. very anoying.....
Try, http://get.skyfire.com/.
thanks, i have used skyfire and it works ok but seems v slow compared to opera. I was trying to see if its possible just to have one browser that does everything! I guess not. It's very annoying and the only thing that really niggles me about the HD2. You'd think browsing would be the thing they'd really want to sort but no..... we still have to use 2 or 3 browsers depending on what we want to do. A bit of a joke really......
I hope some clever bod here can somehow get flash 10 to work on the HD2 seeing as it now seems that Adobe aren't!! I wonder if I could sue adobe? You spend £300+ on a handset as they say the HD2 will be the first WM device to support flash10 then a few weeks after I splash out they announce that they are no longer doing so!!! ggggrrrrrr

Lol I use Opera 9.7 for everyday browsing and I have Skyfire, Opera 10 and IE installed for 'backup browsing'!

Web browsers?

So I was just wondering if anybody knew of good web browsers that had Flash support?
I've been using Skyfire and I'm loving how fast pages load and the homepage customization, just wondering if there were other browsers to pick from.
opera 10 beta has flash that works on some sites and a browser called uzard web
theirs really nothing out there better than skyfire in terms of flash having flash opera it just slows down your phone and crashes the browser in my case. Im not too in with skyfire but to watch videos it does the job. I really hate the fact adobe dropped the flash 10.1 for windows mobile it was already half done.
I tried Flash on Opera 9.7, but the results were awful - scrolling was impossible, and the lag... terrible.
On the other hand I quite like the Flash in IE. You can actually play some flash games with very little crashing - Dicewars .

Choppy flash video playback

Hi All,
My S2 isn't very good at playing back flash video. My old HTC Desire would play any video embedded on a web page that you threw at it, but on the S2 it pauses, stutters and generally looks crappy. Video recorded on the device is fine.
Anyone else seen this?
Mine plays every flash video perfectly, even Youtube 1080p flash video. Must be something your doing wrong or crap internet connection.
Sounds like a bad internet connection...is your flash updated to the latest?
I am sure you are trying to play them with latest Flash player installed and on Stock browser. Yes, I too can play the 1080p videos very well, and after updating the ROM to KI3 the Stock browser has gotten more smooth. I love it.

Yep, i agree...works very smooth, no compaints at all....
If you are using Flash Player 11, just make sure you turn off "peer-assisted networking" from the flash settings app.
Mine is doing exactly the same... poor choppy playback acts as if it's buffering all the time. If I pause the video and let it buffer for a while then play the buffered part it STILL plays back choppy :-(
I'm in Canada on Telus, my network connection is excellent, showing 'H' in the notification bar... tried it on wireless network at home too (which has no issues on other phones or on the PC's). I had a Desire HD too and that worked fine on the same setup.
Any help would be appreciated!!
PS I tried deactivating 'Peer-Networking' but that made no difference. Have also tried different browsers (stock, dolphin, skyfire) and alos uninstalled and reinstalled flash.
Mine goes choppy as well on sd video on some sites. But I have had it play fine minutes before but different video link on same site. But this is on a site which the stock browser wont play, when forced to be detected as a desktop browser through useragent, and I had to use skyfire browser so maybe that is the reason
