I have totally hosed my TMobile device and I am looking to rebuild straight to the 1.1 build instead of going back to TMobile first (although that may be an option)...
If I can reflash with the TMobile ROM (256k or so), which files and how would I load the system up with the 1.1 build???
Or would I be better off rebuilding to TMobile original and then running the executable to load the 1.1 build???
Any help would be appreciated...

Not sure I understand. The 256 k you're referring to is the size of the bootloader, maybe? You don't need to change the bootloader, it's fine the way it is.
Unless it's a 5.17 bootloader, in which case you may want to replace it with something more 'userfriendly', so to speak (5.17 has a feature to prevent you from easily flashing the device, we hacked said mechanism, but it's still a hassle)..
Anyway: your goal is to replace the OS. If your device still talks to ActiveSync, just run Jeff's exe file that installs our Special Edition ROM v1.1 and you're all set. If it does not, get an SD-acrd reader/writer for your PC, and use XDArit and the bootloader method to flash your ROM.
Got the card reader....
I am back at ground zero.. The 256 is the actual baseline from what I understand....
Basically the first step to upgrade is to backup the ROM and that is what is toast...
At this point I can't get to activesync, the device just resets it self over and over again (albeit it slowly)...
I have a version 5.15 bootloader, I am ok there...
I am going to search around in here to use XDARit (downloaded already) and try to find the bootloader method to flash my ROM (I am trying to find a good copy of the TMobile ROM now)..
Thanks for any assistance you can lend...
Todd
update - I can't seem to locate the Bootloader Method you are referring to?? - Todd
If you drag to winzip, you'll see the v1.1 Special Edition ROM nbf-file in there. You can just read that to SD-card using XDArit, and you'll be all set. No need to first install T-Mobile's ROM.
I downloaded the exe already...
basically at this point I formatted my only backup due to the only card avail is 128meg...
I will run the XDArit now....
After I write to the card, what do I do on the phone to load the software from the card???

Simply insert the card and boot into bootloader (pressing power while resetting), and it will ask you to press the action button if you want to flash the contents of the card. The action button is the center of the big rocker key.
man alive!!! I can't win....
XDARite is blowing off when trying to write to the SD card...
To use XDARite you just use the Fat format??? I am rebooting with card in writer so that the volume will show on startup...
I have a Lexar Card reader and trying to run XDARite from XP and selecting the ~32 meg .nbf file from Jeff's update....
Thanks again for any thoughts...

No, the card is written to in RAW mode by XDArit, so XDArit destroys any file-system present on the card when it writes to it. It says so on the page, just read...

Look who's talking!
XDArit not writing to USB device....
that is where I am stuck at... for some reason, I can read/write to the card, but XDARit cannot....
Has anybody experienced this before with XP and an External USB device????

mine was fine. i used xdairt to load the image. actually for me my activestink disconnected while i was loading the rom image and i had to use sd card.

hi there, oldmantodd,
my usb sd-card reader is also not working, but i managed to rebuild my xda in the following way:
first thing you need is another xda/mda whatever
second you boot this device in bootloader mode, press the rec-button ( the one on the side) and choose backup ce
once you backupped this devices operating system, just boot your wrecked device in bootloader mode with the sd-card containing the backup
now it asks you if you want to download teh ce from sd card,
just confirm this and after a while your device is fine again..
jope this helps!!
best regards tim
not work if using 5.17 bootloader, i have 2 xda (1 damage) and 256m sd card, any suggest how to solve this problem?
i dont have card reader, getting frustasion, plsss help

USB Lost connection during upgrade
For those who noticed this "Lost USB COnnection" problem during the installation of the ROM. I found that as long as you don't resit the unit, just carefully disconnect it from the usb, move the mouse over the active sync icon by your clock so it dissapears or you only have 1 left. (restart if needed if none are there) and than reconnect the update program will resume the upgrade or restart it. I noticed this problem on 2 rom updates. On one of the times I actually had to re-run the update program after I reconnected the usb sync cable (cradle)
Flished perfictly well!
I have bootloader 5.15
If someone has the ORIGINAL (any version is good to me) of T-Mobile's Rom's as mine got screwed before I could back them up... Hence the reason for my upgrades... I would love it if you could leave me a note as I really could use the originals to re-install.
Hey Tim...
Is that the same as going to boot mode and the pressing contacts and writing ce+boot???
I am at the point where I have probably got to start from the very beginning...
I tried the method of writing ce+boot from another device and then flashing mine and no luck...
I am starting to get desperate....
Thanks for any help...
Todd
yeah, it is the same as pressing contacts and write boot+ce, after that is written ob the sd-card just put that sd-card in your damaged device and boot it in bootloader mode.
it will then say something like sd-card contains boot+ce, do you want to download, the press the action button and there you go - your damaged device is being flashed and everything should be ok..
good luck
I tried that this morning....
is it possible I hosed my device beyond recognition???
T
I can get to usb flash mode...
would that do me any good???
Right now... the device comes up with unrecognized card and then sits for a while with the keyboard and the error screen to enter a name for the card... and after a bit it soft resets and goes through the same thing...
T
Ok, sounds like you didn't boot to the bootloader... If you do a hard reset (the little button with the battery indicator above it) and hold the power button (the button on the top left) while you turn it back on it will start the boot loader. Make sure your card with the Boot+CE writen to it is in the expansion slot before you do this and it will automatically start in the Autoload screen. Just push the action button (the control pad straight in) to start.
Hope that bit helped.
You can get to the bootloader from the soft reset button...
as well...
When I do that of course I get to GSM error....
Can anyone verify to rebuild from the ground up from another device I would follow these steps:
Boot Good device from power+soft reset
At menu press contacts button
at the flash tools menu select CD+Boot to SD
Let the software write to the SD then remove card
On my device (which needs rebuilt)
Press Power and Boot
Unit will detect info on card
and just press action button
That is my understanding, however, there are other options on the flash tools menu that I have not investigated...
Any help as always would be appreciated...
Todd

The sequence above should work (I assume you know 'press power and boot' means keeping the power button pressed while soft-resetting).
You could write only CE to SD-card, no need to transfer the bootloader. If the above works, it means the receiving device has a functioning bootloader, if it doesn't then it won't be able to take the new bootloader.

Its a vigue you dropped on concrete, its displaying the bootloader screen, youve already unlocked it obviously as it is displaying coke .41 but you cant hard reset ...
Ill assume your already running a custom ROM on this, take and rename the .nbh file to VOGUIMG.nbh and copy over to the SD card on your phone (as long as it is 2 GB or smaller or use your original SD card) put back in phone and power on as its already trying to reload see if it will do it from the card
If not, you DID get the insurance on it right?? if so, claim it stolen and have it replaced, or claim it as dead and have them replace it but I dont suggest telling them you dropped it though

well if you have the original card, you will need some sort of reader interface or adapter on your PC.
remove it from the phone and insert the SD card into it, windows will then see it and you can format it making sure to select FAT32
once that is done, copy the .nbh file from the ROM you used/want to use and once its done coping then right click and rename to VOGUIMG.nbh
power on the phone and press and hold the power+camera and insert the stylus into the reset hole all at the same time until a gray screen appears
follow the directions and hope for the best, otherwise call asurion and make an insurance claim
Detroit Doug
is it for sprint or verizon or another carrier
im not sure if it will work if you have the coke bootloader on it but, i have seen this where i work a few times (minus the coke bootloader), if you get the offical 6.1 software download and install the .exe file to your computer it will usually reload the rom and be on your way
if its sprint the official download is available at www.sprint.com/downloads
install it to your computer and open the .exe
when it comes up with the updater screen plug your data cable into the phone, if it comes up with USB at the bottom click next and start the upgrade.
BTW here is the link to the latest Verizon ROM for your phone
http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=82&cat=2&dl_id=99
it will download a file called
_Verizon XV6800_RUU_TITAN_VZW_WWE_3.57.605.1_RS_TITAN_3.37.75_OM_VZW_ShipFULL.EXE (god awful long name I know) BUT with an app called WinRAR installed on your PC you can right click on the exe file and select to "extract to ..." and it will then extract all the files into a folder of the same name
from there you can copy the file RUU_signed.nbh somewhere or even to your SD card and then rename it VOGUIMG.nbh and away you go with flashing to the original stock vzw ROM via bootloader mode
Hope that helps
Detroit Doug
Be careful after flashing back to stock because coke .40 doesent have overwrite protection. you will need to run the coke 2.31 unlocker after your carrier flash so you can then flash a custom rom.
Oke guys here's my queston.
First look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939763&page=3
My radio is probably bricked, so now i'm trying to use a goldcard:
I managed to get the CID of my SD card.
Reversed the CID of the 2 Gb is: 009b000a6daf00804732305553445303
With a little help of this forum i now have a goldcard and put an original LEOIMG on the goldcard.
Still no solution, the bootscreen flashes off/on 1 time and then returned into bootscreen. No attempt of flashing seen. What went wrong??
Thanks in advance!
first the obvious questions, (quite often its somethign dead simple) ,
you extracted ruu_signed.nbh and didnt just rename the whole .exe to .nbh?
How did you write the .img to the card? ? you
How did you get the CID?
let me have the two CIDS (dont reverse them or anything, just as you got them) and an email address and ill make you an image for each disk, that way you have three to try.

on a normal sd card, this usually indicates either wrong stock rom being used (sure the rom you are using is for your region AND carrier?((if locked)), or an sd card that isn't set up right (freshly format it, FAT32 )
It might point to the goldcard image being wrong, or incorrectly written to the card.
I extracted the original HTC HD2 dutch rom, took of the ruu_signed.nbh, copied it to the goldcard en renamed it to LEOIMG.nbh
I got the CID by using a working adroid phone together with the tutorial from "theunlocker.com" (sdk/adb-app en hex-app)
The 2 onreversed CID's are:
1gb
035344535530314780606ca6f10079a6
2gb
03534453553032478000af6d0a009b8e
emailaddress: [email protected]
thanks!
Hey Magazijn if your problem is not a hardware issue then you have the right guy working with you now. Samsamuel will have you up and running again I am sure of it. Just remember though if you are using USB to flash and not SD card then always put your HD2 into bootloader and wait for the USB tben flash this is a trusted method. And don't forget to click Samsamuel's thanks button when he gets you going. Peace.
heh, cheerleader fees in the post.
@OP sorry for the delay, theres a step by step to double check you are writing teh image correctly HERE
Thanks for the quick solution samsamuel, but still the same problem.
After Boot the screen builds up again in boot and that's it.
So i think it's an hardware radioproblem with can't be fixed.
Should a hardware repair help me out?
Last question i used original dutch LEOIMG (winmo 6.5), can i use another (android of winmo) rom?
If yes, which would you prefer.
Again thank for your help, i appreciate it.
hmm, not sure what to suggest. As i said b4, a brief 'loading' then back to bootloader usually indicates the wrong rom. Are you sure your phone is an unbranded dutch phone? did you download that rom with your serial number from the htc website? (it will only let you download correct roms if you use serial)
This shouldnt matter if the goldcard is working, but if you KNOW its the correct rom, it can be discounted as the cause.
Hi Guys,
I'm kinda stuck here, hope you'll be able to help:
Situation is as follows:
I have an HTC Leo, and after 2 months of usage - got the white screen:
1. Tried soft reset - no good
2. Tried hard reset - no good
3. Cannot sync to PC with ActiveSync - does not detect the device
4. Can go to boot mode, but only with voulme down+soft reset button
5. Cannot sync in boot mode as well - there appears to be a "USB" writing at the bottom, (white line on boot mode) though ActiveSync does not detect via usb?
6. Tried to install HSPL2 - starts to install, never finishes, proggress bar goes up and down forever (on PC) - I believe device needs to be synced before installing?
7. Device is enabled in the device manager, though cannot explore - thus no access to SD card
8. Here we go, I seem to do something wrong, PLEASE HELP, I payed for the device about 400E in my country, stock warranty is not an option
9. HEEEEEEEEEELP
10. Thanks!!!
Try flashing the stock ROM for your HD2 via SD card. If you have a T-Mobile HD2 then go to T-Mobile.com to download the ROM you will have to enter the IzmEI number from under your battery to download it. If you have a international HD2 go to HTC.com and enter your serial number that is under your battery to getca list of ROMs you can download and install on your HD2. If the ROM is a .exe you will have to right click it and renamecthe file .zip to view the contents. After that follow the instructions in the thread linked below to flash the ROM.

[Q] Thanks
Hi, thanks for the info,
When I go to HTC homepage, i find "Rom Upgrades" - is that the same as the ROM itself?
Sorry if the q is dum ,I'm completely new in this
And also - does the card have to be empty (only ROM in) so that the phone boots it?
Thanks again

Yeah that is what you are looking for. The ROM upgrades is the most recent official ROMs out for the HD2. Just make sure you use your serial number to make sure you get a ROM that is for your HD2 or you will not be able to flash it unless you get HSPL on your HD2. Also make sure the HTC site you are on is for your part of the world, your country or the country the HD2 originated from.
[Q] Hi again, last q
When I Explore the contents of the rom I see numerous files, and reading the instructions you linked tells me to rename an image. The ROM is an exe, so I renamed it to zip , explored and currently I see only one .nbh file:
RUU_signed.nbh
Should I rename this one to LEOIMG.nbh and copy this file only to SD card? Or rename and leave there, take the whole exe and put it into the SD Card?
Would that be sufficient to run the ROM in bootload?
Thanks again brother, you're a lifesaver

Just take and copy the RUU_signed.nbh file make a copy ofcthe file and past it to your desktop and then rename it to LEOIMG.nbh then copy that file to the root of your SD card. All you have to have is the .nbh file but it has to be named LEOIMG.nbh.
You can also flash a radio, splash screen, and MAGLDR this way if need be. But you would still have to flash CWM via custom RUU via USB if you installed MAGLDR.

Sorry I had to get some sleep, anyway I suggest you first make a backup copy of your SD card and then reformat your SD card using the Panosonic Mick SD card formatting software, just Google it you will find it. Do a full wipe of hour cardcand format it using Fat 32. Then copy the LEOIMB.nbh to your card and try it again. Also try to use a card no bigger than a 8GB as bigger SD cards are prone to give people problems when flashing via SD card. Note I did not say they will notcflash a ROM, bit they sometimes give people trouble.
Also I forgot to tell you this morning that if your HD2 says USB in the white bar of bootloader and it also says HTC USB sync in the device manager in the control panel of your computer, then you have a Sync connection to your computer but you can not use this connection for anything bit to flash different software to your HD2.
[Q] Hi Buddy, 10x for staying so long :)

I really appreciate your help so far.
Same Sh*t - even after FAT 32 format
When tried to upgrade with the official HTC ROM - "RUU_signed...." (not via SD) HTC boot screen appeared, but after 1% said : Image corrupted". It coud be that the stock rom sucks big time. May be try with some Artemis?

Yeah maybe you got a bad download of the ROM. If that was the only official ROM you could down load. I would try to download it againcand delete the first copy you downloaded, or I would flash HSPL. to my HD2 and then try to flash the stock ROM are a custom ROM. Custom ROMs are better than stock ROMs anyway. Just remember though if you have a warranty and you need to send your HD2 in for warranty work or exchange you need to revert your HD2 back to complete stock. This means ROM, radio, and SPL.
ok hey i tried putting a stock tom but i have a tmobie us hd2 and i tried putting some other language on it
.. and now it doesnt turn on, screen stays black and your pc asks for qualcomm drivers?
its bricked. the radio in non tmous stock roms bricks tmous hd2's.
or is it something else? your post is pretty empty of facts.
well it says nothing on my computer and it just won't respond
What's wrong with your phone?... what is your main goal that you want to accomplish with your phone???????
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
its bricked.. look up jtag..
Your gonna have to do some work to get it going again.. I just did the same to my phone flashing a radio.. so i'm going to try to get something going. . If anyone has any suggestions let us know please.
it asks for qualcom drivers
yes, it will, look at the other radio brick threads, that's one of the tell-tale symptoms. but there aren't any drivers. (Yes, there is a 'qualcomm drivers' thread somewhere, but they don't install into windows, no one is sure what they do.)
That's the raw hardware looking for the qualcomm equivalent of JTAG. That's what shows up when there is no valid bootloader to start.
Have you tried flashing leoimg.nbh directly from SD card without PC ?
if no the steps are:
Find stock rom (or custom) and open the executable updater with winrar.
Extract the .nbh file from there (should be the largest file in the archive)
Rename it to leoimg.nbh
Copy it to the sd card with a card reader.
Insert card, start prone and keep pressed the "down volume" and the "Call reject"
button at the same time.
This should get you to the file flash stage there keep pressed or click the reject button to flash the file.

more to the point it won't work because it doesn't turn on so no bootloader available to start the flash. Its a tmous hd2 meets a non tmous radio, the only fix is jtag.
