That's not factory default, you've tried flashing a hero ROM and it appears to be stuck in a boot loop. Have you tried letting it run like that for about 15 minutes?
you can do two things, wipe the ext filesystem and reflash, or flash another rom and you will be fine.
not too understand with the flashing tutorial..got any link for dummies??
thx for helping...
if you have amon_ras recovery, turn your phone off and hold the home key, and press the power button, holding home key until phone turns on. go to option "Wipe" > "Wipe SD:ext filesystem" reboot, and see if that works.
not sure if you have cyanogens recovery... i haven't seen it in a while.
this is only if you have one of the latest amon ra recovery...
alright lol people if she wipes the phone and then doesnt re apply rom then she wont get anywhere it will still do the same thing, lol. so turn phone off>turn on to recovery home and power>select wipe>select all the options you have to wipe>go to main menu of recovery screen>then go to partition>then select repair sd>then convert to 3, 4 after three if you want too>then flash the rom you want on there reboot and you will be fine
but my microSD is formated..isit got effect from starting??

sorry. :X i've just always read all it takes is to wipe the ext partition, didn't know you had to reflash the rom.
and i still think its that, were not saying do a factory reset, just wipe the ext partition... but then again with that if i remember correctly it would give me a bug where all the apps in the market that i had would still have the "open" and "unistall" option, but it was greyed out making me have to wipe anyways, so you're probably right.
but also, ext partitions are not really needed on the mytouch (don't know about hero roms i personally never used one in my life) as it has way more internal storage space for apps and that's all they are they're useful for if i remember correctly.
and here's a good guide for flashing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=579328
but i flash the phone then 1 step i got prob is this:-
FORMAT SD CARD
From the home screen press Menu->Settings->SD card & phone storage->Un-mount SD card.
Once it is un-mounted press ->Format SD card.
Once it is formatted & has re-mounted go back to the home screen and press Menu->Settings->Applications->make sure 'Unknown sources' is checked
my phone also cant boot into menu, how to do this step.
then how to check either my rom is 1.5 or 1.6 version???

i plug in pc and it say unknown device and home+power
use adb. see if
it finds the phone.
Try with the volume down and power on. If you can get that then you're ok and recover.
I flashed my radio and my daughter(2) pulled my phone off 1/2 way. Battery popped out and it died.....
I wasn't able to get anything.
If you can get the volume down you can adb flash it.

Just flash a custom ROM, if you can access recovery, and you can, you are not in trouble!
1.Boot into recovery
2.wipe
3.mount usb mass storage
4.copy a custom ROM to the root of your SD card ( lets say cyanogen as most people do)*
5.choose apply any zip and apply the rom that you put
6.reboot
*Using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609714&page=1 would be easier for you to flash than cyanogen.
Hope it helps!
thanks for quick reply !!
i will follw mentioned steps thanks!!
but the cyanogen rom will work on my phone as it have perfect spl 1.33.00010?and also it is not rooted
also can u mentioned approx time phone takes to reboot after recovery?
also can u tell me what i did wrong in first time? that will be useful in future to me
thanks

but can u also tell me that before applying any new update wipe is necessary?i think that was reason to cause problem in first place
anyway thank u very much!!!!!!!!
You're welcome!
After updating your current ROM you don't need to wipe.(sometimes the dev will say that you must wipe, then you will have to do it) However, if you are switching to a different ROM you have to wipe.
And remember to always make a nandroid backup before flashing!

You must create goldcard.
If you even flash nbh, you can get message about wrong Customer ID (cause you flash ROM, that isn't to your phone: country-dependent)
Try ask friend or find neighbor with android-phone.
Or find computer with card-reader INSIDE and OS Ubuntu/Linux (usb-card-readers are not compatible, they recognized as disks, not drives)
I created a GoldCArd using a friends phone, i followed the steps carefully
and it sayd "cid incorrect"
any advices/sugestions?
Hello all,
I just got my first Droid phone today, to find out that it had no app store, and no google stuff on it whatsoever (besides droid that is), so i went about looking as to why, turns out my version has no google stuff on it because it is homosexual, so i followed the forum folks advice and went about trying to flash a new rom so i can have all that google stuff.
So far, i have an RA-Hero-v1.6.2 system recovery flashed on whenever that or the "3 droids on a skateboard" screen, the phone will just spam reboot, turn off, turn on, turn off, saying "HTC Magic".
When i try to get a "sappimg.zip" or "sappimg.nbh" to install via the SDcard (i cannot put the files on the SDcard as i dont have a mini to normal SD card thingy, so i adb "push" them onto the card) the "3 droids on a skateboard" thingy says "wrong or no image" on all the fields it checks for, and then goes to the default menu.
i have tried to go to the RA recovery and flash the zip file from sdcard but it throws a nasty error saying
"E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory) E: Can't mount SDCARD:"
^ so i partition the sdcard, which takes 1 second with 32mb swap, 512 ext and rest FAT, and then i repush all the files, and try again, to no avail.
To test if the files are there, i push then, then adb shell in and cd to the /sdcard/ directory and ls -a, and they are there.
From this point, i retry, no avail.
So folks... what do?

Just push "Flash new"... you must be in fastboot...
What i see from all your info is that your recovery is not working correct..
The tool will properly fix it!
This program does not work, :|
it does not solve my SD card issue and i cannot flash a new ROM for my phone to be useable, all it can do is boot into fastboot or RA 1.6.2 hero recovery, but nothing else.
Any feedback?
Go to fastboot menu.
Then type:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
The last thing in the line is a zero!
This should fix your sdcard issue... try flashing anything from recovery or whatever :0)
How do i go about installing a new ROM from the hero recovery screen using the adb shell?
Did the above not work?
I do not know how to upload a rom from this point on, using the fastboot command you have given, and going to the recovery screen, i do not know what to do now.
If your SD card is working just find a ROM you want to use, download it to the main directory of you SD card, go into recovery, select wipe and wipe system/Dalvik cache/cache, then click flash from .zip, and select the .zip you want to use. You can find ROMs under the development section. Make sure you find one that says 32a and 6.35 radio in the title.

Got a rom that you could recommend as my first ? that is sure to work?
I've looked at Cyanogen mod, and it says i require DangerSPL, but Danger SPL cannot be installed on a magic with a 6.x radio, which is what i have.
Solved!
Went out and bought a new SD card, a Sandisk Mobile microSDHC 8GB, popped it in and it formatted properly.
i was faced with the mount error again, but i did the USB-MC on off thing twice, and it is now imaging a ROM
New drama now, having installed Amon-Ra's clean Donut, it keeps informing me my simcard is not inserted, which it is, the correct orientation as well,
I am a Virgin mobile user in Australia.
any ideas on how to fix?
all is well! yet again, ill stop spamming replies now, the diagram on the "SIM Slot" case was wrong, so my sim was upside down.
You don't need the danger spl unless your using a G1. Make sure your looking at the CM ROMs with "DS" at the end.

I tried to install the rom again using fastboot flash system (rom).zip and it didnt work i dont know what to do must i also update the radio and if so how and where can i get the radio.
Please i am realy clueless now on what to do thanx for the help so far.
Okay, now you should have the right SPL and Radio. Start your phone in Recovery and connect it to your computer. Choose USB-MS Toggle and your phone's SD card will show up in My Computer. Copy the following files to the root of your SD card:
http://mirror.teamdouche.net/get/dream_sapphire/cm_dream_sapphire_full-285.zip
http://briancrook.ca/android/cm-ports/bc-6.1.0-ebi1-signed.zip
http://goo-inside.me/google-apps/gapps-mdpi-tiny-20101020-signed.zip
and safely remove the card using. Press Home on the phone to go out of the MS (Mass Storage) mode and then go to Flash zip from SD card. Flash them in the same order that I gave you above. When it's done, choose Reboot and it should boot up into a fully-working nightly build of CyanogenMOD.

All 1.33.20xx where xx can be 04,05,09 or 10 do work for that radio. So you are not right on the one. The problem is simple, either he/she does not give enough time for the "new" rom to load all the way ( which is 7-15 mins) or he/she did not do a wipe before running the rom.
Do this and it WILL work:
Download my fastboot commander from my signature, magic version.
Boot into fastboot and start the tool.
Go to "Misc" tab. Select all partitions (in the RED box) and click "erase chosen partitions".
Go to "Magic 32A" tab and click on "flash new".
When done, reboot into custom recovery (hold home + power together for 5 sec and let go).
Use the trackball to navigate.
Use the "usb-ms toggle" and copy this file inside the sdcard.
Press home on the phone to return to menu and then select "Flash zip from sdcard".
Now select the file from above.
When done choose to reboot into system, and ENJOY :0)
NB: it will take like 10-15 min before the system starts up.
GOOD LUCK.

Oops. Could have sworn .2005 only works properly with the 32B radio. My bad. Oh, well, he has 2010, which should be fine for all old-radio ROMs.
@Reaper21 To get you a bit more confused: 32A Magics (like the one you have) can run two different radio/spl combinations. One is the one you have (SPL 1.33.xxxx + Radio 3.22.xx.xx) - called "old radio" - and the second (SPL 1.76.xxxx + Radio 6.35.xx.xx) is the one you need to run most SenseUI ROMs (but others too - you'll spot them because the developers mention they are for the "new radio" or "6.35").
If you want a clean Android experience, closer to the default user interface, you can run CyanogenMOD and ROMs based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project) - most of them need the old radio. These have the advantage of always using the latest version of Android available.
If you want the fancier - but sometimes slower - SenseUI you can use the RCMagic (the one mumilover recommended), CleanMagic and others. The user interface is a lot friendlier, but you have to make do with Android 2.1 (instead of the latest official version - 2.2.1, with 2.3 coming up). This won't normally be a problem. I, for one, prefer SenseUI and I'm guessing mumi does too
Use mumilover's commander to switch between new and old. It should be safe, as long as your phone's battery is charged and you don't unplug the cable or anything
Let us know how it works out!
Ok guys internet was off for a while im having a look and downloading the files now. I realy hope it works. will keep you posted, and thanx for the replies so far
Dude thank you you are the best its working again booting into the mod and working fine accept the reason i Wanted to do the software is that for some reason my Sim cant cant register on to the network. I Have tried all 4 networks in my country and none work it just said that unable to connect to the network at this time try again later.
Can this be a hardeware fault?
But thanx at least the device boots and i can use GPS again

So I'm trying to get my MT3G back up in running after a failed froyo update a while back.
I followed some instructions to put the phone back to stock and then to get the OTA update, after a few days of not getting the update I went ahead and gave some files a shot which left me with a phone that boots all the way up until the home screen should display and instead I get a force close/frozen phone.

Well... if you have a custom recovery then I would suggest doing a data wipe and flash a new 32B rom.
Take out the simcard...
Let it load... sign in google account... make sure all is good... shutdown.. put simcard back in.. start and enjoy.
I'm able to access the stock recovery not a custom one, maybe recovery is the wrong term I can access a page when I hold back/power or vol down/power that gives me fastboot/hboot access.
There is no SIM card in it currently, I did try putting one in to see if it would make a difference and it didn't.
Hold down home+power to boot the phone and see if that gives you your custom recovery.
Not sure why you guys keep mentioning custom recovery, I went back to stock, but holding down home + power on start just give me the triangle/exclamation point/dead phone page.

I know its an old phone now, but my friend gave me this one to update, and it took a while for me to figure it out (used to my Evo 3D)... so ive put this together to help anyone wishing to S-OFF and can't work it out...
*** This is for GSM ONLY. Don't try it if your not sure or you'll brick your phone ***
This is what I did to get S-OFF...
Download Modaco's SPL HBoot 1.76.2007 and move it to your SD Card.
Download Clockworkmod Recovery 2.5.0.7, rename it to " recovery.img " and move it to your SD Card.
Download UniversalAndroot and move it to your SD Card.
Download ES File Explorer from the market (or any other file explorer).
Download Android Terminal Emulator from the market.
Enable installing from SD Card.. (Settings -> Applications -> tick Unknown Sources)
Open ES File Explorer and install Universal Androot.
Run it and press Root ...
It should say.. "Woot ! Your device is rooted !" ... close the program.
Open Android Terminal Emulator, and type " su " . Press enter.
Allow SuperUser access.
Type " flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img " and press enter.
It should just show a $ sign on a new line.
Power off your phone, remove and replace your battery and press and hold the Home button while pressing Power.
Your phone will load into Clockworkmod Recovery.
Select " install zip from sdcard ", then " choose zip from sdcard ". Select " update-hero-hboot-1.76.2007-signed.zip ". Press Back, Back and " reboot system now ".
Leave the phone to update HBoot. Do not interrupt it. (It restarts a few times)
Once done, the phone will restart and load as normal. Check the HBoot version by going into HBoot again (turn off, hold Volume - and Power) and it will hopefully show S-OFF, Hboot 1.76.2007. Job done.
Great guide, very simplistic and understandable. Thanks for this!

Yeah, it was nice, now I just need a reason to get S-OFF
Greeting...
Since i have Rooted my Hero and Flashing ROM, I never knew we can/must do S-OFF.
I'm a bit curious...is it necessary S-OFF for Hero? Any advantages?
From my little understanding it just to make control of our Hero's partition.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
S-On (Security-On) - is HTC's final resort for locking certain parts of the phone.
With S-On, the NAND section of your phone is locked and will fail to install software (and sometimes gain root access) depending on which ROM and phone your using. On some phones (not sure about Hero) you have to install a separate boot image with fastboot to let you install a custom, non HTC ROM, as it isn't from a signed HTC source.
With S-Off (Security-Off), you have full write access to all partitions on your phone, can gain permanent root, and all ROMs / boot / radios / recoverys should install successfully.
It doesn't appear that most Hero users need S-Off to allow you to install custom ROMs, but as I wanted to update the radio version, I chose to.
my hero has a hboot with s-on, and i can update radio images. If u want, i can upload the hboot i have..
I have given the Hero back to my friend now after updating...
Things have changed between the Hero and Evo 3D, but when I use something, I want to have full control on what I can do, not to be forced into not been able to do or access certain things.
Although, I can understand why HTC implemented Hboot Security, careless use with S-Off (flashing wrong images or disconnecting too early) - and you will brick your phone.
thanks this guide works perfect for my htc hero
I think I'm lucky, then...
I have a GSM HTC Hero bought back in 2009 and just recently heard this S-OFF issue.
Only recently I checked and my boot loader is in S-ON state.
However, I never had a problem installing whatever I wanted on it.
In fact, the phone was rooted a few days after buying it and it remains rooted as of now! I even had to re-install the official HTC 1.6 firmware because I installed a non-compatible recovery ROM...
I wonder if any of this has to do with the fact that I purchased it without a SIM lock...
Working great! Even if you are on 2.1 use the 1.5/1.6 option in androot. otherwise rooting will not work. (even though it says "Woot blabla")
Hi im getting flash_image not found in the emulator am stuck please help.
can i just ask what might be a noob question about this whole process...
once this phone is rooted and has s-off will this open it up to putting any network sim card in it? i do have an old htc hero but it's currently locked to t mobile uk as it's an old contract phone.
thanks in advance..
S-OFF allows you to execute certain commands and gain access to the NAND partition of the phone.
In order to unlock your phone, you must buy an unlock code somewhere (I've heard them being about 5€, correct me if I'm wrong).
Thanks for the explanation. Appreciated.
To be honest I'm a bit surprised that there's not a way to remove the sim lock through another method. Having played around with unlocking my sensation and flashing cyanogenmod it just seems like there's nothing you can't do with these phones these days..!
Thanks again..

I tried it again, but still S-ON?
I put hboot image on sd card, removed battery, put it back, went into recovery RA1.7xx, flashed hboot zip file.
It did few things and asked me to confirm it with "HOME + BACK" button, which I did, then again it did few things and then booted into recovery, showed as if its finished and showed me a last command Formatting Cache.... though it was stuck there for atleast 2 min so switched off the phone, went back in bootloader, it still showed S-ON?
I downloaded file from modaco as well, both files are same, modaco's and the one mentioned above... I checked MD5.
What am I doing wrong?
