"X" Button that really close all applications - HD2 General

Hi, guys & gals,
I am now an HTC HD2 owner. Before that, I had an Eten X800 (I prefer pocket pcs with GPS). What I noticed with Windows Mobile was that the "x" button does not really close the applications. If you check the "Task Manager" you will find many applications hanging in there (not closed) - which occupies space in RAM.
With Eten X800, I was able to install this application called "WkTask" (similar to Magic Button but better) that solved the issue. However, this application is not working on HTC HD2.
I was wondering if anyone uses a similar application that works with HTC HD2 or, if there are some tweaks to make applications/programs to exit (close) for good.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415

try it...
here's the right cab for your needs... thx to smaberg & tboy2000.

Or look at the *Leo Hints & Tips* , tip 7.
Once installed the normal setting is closing all programs by holding X.
Also possibility to modify and close programs with touching X.

Thank you, the1predator! I'll surely do!

Thank you, all!

[REQ] HTC touch apps

i have a tmobile Wing running wm6 and i have tried all htc touch apps on this website and they dont work for me... can someone either upload working apps(like the contact manager, the comm. manager, the cube thing) or upload a working ROM of the HTC touch(which will work on the WING) for the 64 bit computer??
how are you installing them?
you realise you put the cab file onto the phone then execute it there rather than your pc right?
thats the impression i get from your post...
yes i know that, i am not a nub... i have installed many apps, but they end up screwing up my phone cause it works so slowly
bump ...
All the HTC touch apps that I found from explode, they all work fine on my SX66.
Can you describe more about your phone, and how you install the application?
What symptom/behaviour are you seeing on your phone?
well, i transfer it to my storage card, and then run it. later i get a successfully installed message. i soft-reset my phone and then either the program doesn't start up, puts my phhone in a infinate reset mode, or doesnt work correctly.
the htc cube is installed, but i can see the cube! i see this S icon, and a P icon when i slide my finger from bottom to up . since it didnt work, i unistalled it.
the contact manager from the all htc apps extracted sticky starts up, but i cannot change the theme! i see the regular old contacts manager with a white bar, when i run my finger over it, it shows a letter, and scrolls to it, but doesnt have the touch interface i need, and its not graphical at all
and the comm. manager REMOVES my comm. manager, rather than adding one
i am running wm6, boots fine now, the following htc apps
-audio manager
-htc touch theme
-htc album
-htc touch skin for wmp
-spb backup
-htc touch wait cursor(got from freewarepocketpc.net)
that should explain a lot

explode? can you please post some links and i will try them and replay asap
The 'htc cube' your talkin about is not the actual cube. its called FTouchFlo and is used to scroll and launch programs by using gestures. the changing between s and p is changing between launching mode and scrolling mode. What your looking for is the TouchFlo cube, which i belive must be cooked into a rom to work well. there are other options out there that can be cab installed, just search around the forums.
u mean something like this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343583
i tried that but in the instructions, i dont know what the prequisites are n i dont have em
i copied the shortcuts to the startup folder and then i ran the program in the folder containting the exe file that came with the zip
can someone post a cab, that i run, and will configure my phone that it works... i dont want to do the "remove the following apps from the startup folder...", the cab file should do that...
i also have problem with touchflo. i saw a lot of threads on it and i dun know which 1 i have to follow and install.
and if any expert here can help me.
1. i am on wm6. not htc theme.
2. i am on wisbar and wisbar desktop
3. device is atom life.
and i want to use the touchflo. can anyone assist me?
can i do the swiping even my screen is on the wisbar?
can anyone help me with this.
help is greatly appreciated.
thanks!
htc theme is not an operating system. it just alters the way it looks. im runnign wm6 also
wisbar is okay and i dont think it affects touchflo, except wisbar uses up too much memory
so who ever has touchflo working on wm6, can u please post a link to the file, and specific instructions on how to install?

shell for smartphone

I copied this treat from ''upgrading/modifying and unlocking.
I think I put it first in the wrong directory.
Maybe I got more respons here.
-------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
For pocketPC users there is spb mobile shell.
Is there for smartphone users also any programm that change the shell for wm5/6? Or is there anyone who likes it to make such programm?
What I would like is a shell that gives tabs in the top of the screen:
1st tab is the homescreen.
2nd tab is the startmenu.
3rd tab could be contacts.
other tabs could be opened programms.
- Switching between the tabs could be done with the softkeys.
- In the top of every tab could be an X button (or tab close with 0 or something).
- Softkey functions of any programm could be done with select the menus or the * and # botton.
- a little settings app where the user can set the use of which buttons and the order of the tabs (may be more)
If someone is so friendly to make such programm he/she can also think about other functions to add.
I hope there is anyone who can and enjoy it to make this. Me and (I think) many other users will enjoy to use it.
greetings,
Niels

ROM with 4 colums + Disable HTC messanger

I see that there are many new cooked ROMs available now.
Too many for me to try all.
I therefore would like to have a feedback on these 3 issues:
1. which ROM has 4 columns grid (under programs)? (Xanny ROM does, any other one?)
2. if standard 3 columns are used in your cooked ROM, how to convert to 4 columns grid? is it easy (I am a non-specialist non-software programmer)? Are there any tweaks so that we can arrange programs in 4 columns without need to edit the registry?
3. which ROM has HTC messanging removed or made "removable"? I strongly prefer the standard SMS messanging function, but I cannot disable HTC messanger...any help?
Thanks a lot!
Saulo
another utilities which I would like to have in the ROM (I cannot recollect exactly the name) is the one which places an icon on the program list to perform a fast soft reset (without any time-losing warnings...). Can somebody point a link for me? A google search of xda-website search results in too many hits.
Thanks again
Saulo
Hi saulo866,
Just pick up the best ROM you like.
You can easily instal 4row Start menu with this *.cab http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5207820
About the HTC messaging, There is a way to set it back to 2.1, which was good. But its in VGA, so graphic are a bit off. You can found it in this forums, search. Or I found app to dissable HTC messaging and use winmo messaging app. It is for HD (not HD2) 2.5 , but it should work too right? Try it to see, its easily uninstalable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614.
Thanks a lot Kowoboy!
You gave me two very precious in formations which I was unable to find out even after extensive research!
I will try to unistall HTC messanging with the utility you have pointed to me, then I will feedback whether it works or not for HD2
Thanks again!
Saulo
Just tried the HTC Messenger uninstall linked to above on my HD2, worked a treat, thank you so much, i can actually receive SMS' now!

3g

Hello,
i used advanced configuration tool to show the 3g auto option in comm manager. Only problem is it wont move, and is stuck in the off position ?
i use 6.1 1.56.405.1
radio 1.13.25.24
Any ideas please ?
steve
hi,
i have hd with stock rom....
i had same problem as you with" advanced configuration tool to show the 3g"
when i wanted to tweak ..my comm manager with "advance config"..
.(.yes as you put it "button was stuck ")
i then tried alternative and it works o.k for me...
... have been " using hd2 comm cab with 3 g slider button " for a few months (5..or maby 6 months ?)
..no problems..!
anyway ..to recap ...
i saw..." tip 49 in..." Leo Hints, Tips and Registry Tweaks"
in the... hd2 general ..section ..
and i quote....from tip 49...
..." 49. Enable 3G Button in Comm Manager
In Comm Manager, you can substitute the Microsoft direct push for Outlook button for a GSM/3G button by installing the cab below. Warning, please execute tip 60 before this tip "
here is the link ..you might want to take a look at it ..?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
by the way .. i choose to ignore tip 60 as i do not use or miss " direct push "
(also you will see relevant cab for, hd2 comm man , just below tip 58 )
if you want to try it.. dont forget..to install to device and soft reset..!
good luck
willcor
hi and thanks willcor for the information.
I found a 6.1 rom that did not suck the life out of the battery, in fact in testing at the moment seems to have slightly better performance. It is called dammsmalltopix and has a very small amount apps, which means you can still add on the one you really want. If, in final testing i find even the topix rom sucks more battery power i will give your .cab a go as the stock rom, with a radio 1.1.4.25.24 upgrade is really good battery wise.
I have tried most(if not all) win mobile 6.5 roms and they all burn down the battery...they look very nice though. The best 6.5 rom for battery life was miniterror ravge`s that was controlled by the lock program s2u2, for keeping background apps off as best as possible.
Thanks again,
steve.
Willcor,
just as an update...that works...perfect mate, thanks
Steve
