Has anyone managed to get VPN working on there HD2? I'm running the O2 rom 1.43, on the o2 network, i can connect to my home server via my iphone, and a Laptop using the Wifi router on the HD2, but not on WM VPN service.
Has anyone else had any issues?
I also tried to get a PPTP VPN connection established but could not get it to work. On the first connection attempt pretty much nothing happens, the second connection attempt gives my the rotating symbol which stays there forever.
To get out of this I have to reboot my HD2. The same VPN connection works without a problem on the Iphone.
Anybody else who has got a VPN connection on the HD2 actually working?
Hi,
Yes, I can do VPN to a Draytek router without problems usign PPTP connection.
After that I can use Remote desktop and SSH term on lan computers.
I have 1.48 stock ROM WWE East European version. Works even with gprs, slow but works.
One bug with Opera. It doesn't use excluding list, so it disconnects the vpn connection when I want to browse an internal address. Works ok with IExplorer.

VM
Hi VirtualM,
maybe you have THE solution?
I tried and tried to configure a PPTP VPN, but without results...
I already open a thread called :How to configure a (free) VPN?... as it's possible with IPhone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601465)
Please, would you have a look of this thread, especially the pictures, to check if I'm doing something wrong to configure.
It will be very helpful.
As has been mentioned on this forum before, PPTP VPN with MPPE (i.e. majority of providers and routers) is not supported on Windows mobile...even though PPTP/MPEE is Microsoft's protocol :/
The only way you can get VPN to work in WM 6.0 & 6.5 is to use PPTP without MPPE (i.e. NO encryption...kinda pointless) or L2TP / IPSEC. It's not yet clear whether MPPE will be supported win WM7, lets just hope it is.
Hope that clears it up
just a little update, i've managed to get a connection now after updating to 1.48, after setting every thing back up initially i couldn't get a connection, so i deleted the Modem, under "My Work Network" in connections and just left the "My ISP" as the internet connection.

Hi, could you please describe how you connect to Draytek VPN? I'm using the 2910G, but I'm unable to setup the VPN from WM6.5. I'm using the PPTP from winXP/7 without problems. I have set the encryption to optional but still no luck.
This is what I did so far:
-created Remote worker on router
-create VPN server setting in WM6.5 using Connections (I tried both setting up the VPN and exceptions in Orange Internet profile and also tried creating separate profile for VPN that was set as My Work profile)
-selecting Connect on the VPN connection does nothing and I cannot access the local network
-Installed Draytek Syslog - I see no activity coming from WM (neither in VPN logs nor in any other like FW, DDoS etc)
Thank you in advance.

How can I do a pptp VPN using the HD2 ?
Which way should I go?
thanks,
João Claudio
Hi,
I've recently bought an HD2 and wanted to setup a connection to my office-network through VPN (PPTP).
Now I manage to get a connection and it will stay open for a couple of minutes, but I get no traffic through to my work network
What I found out, through vxutils, is that the RAS line adapter created by the VPN connection has the wrong netmask, 255.255.255.255 when it should be 255.255.0.0 ?!
I have no clue how to incluence this on my HD2...
Anyone got any hint ??
Thanx, JP.
BTW, I'm running the latest htc ROM.
Currently trying to get my HTC HD2 to connect to ItsHidden.com's VPN.
I have tried GreenBow VPN and it only has L2TP/IPsec.
I have searched and tried all the tutorial I can find so far for the built-in option and I get either:
"Cannot connect: Verify username/password"
or
"Remote party refused connection"
...but it works fine on all of my PC's (yes I have checked the user/pass info to be sure).
I added the VPN to the "My work network", then tried to get it to connect, producing both the errors. The modem connection was under its own bit and no connection was specified for the "My Work network".
Any help would be great...
Regards,
peymax
hye,
my vpn server gives ip between 192.168.1.120 to 192.168.1.130 (i've tried other ranges), it's a simple PPTP setted in XP. Its own IP in the lan is 192.168.0.9 fixed to its mac adresse
i've natted the port 1723 to it (i've tried in dmz as well).
It works from an other XP from internet (so my vpn server is well listenning).
It works when the HD2 share its connection via bluetooth from an other XP or an android (so my FAI orange allow it)
It works when i connect my HD2 in my lan through wifi (so my settings in the HD2 are correct)
i do not manage to connect my HD2 to it directly through its cell connection...
i think there is something arround IP ranges i've misted ...
the freeware NetInfoBox show that my "public" IP on the 3G interface is 10.226.97.103 (it changes and it look like a lan range) mask : 255.0.0.0 dns : 192.168.10.110
when i use the connection shared by the hd2, i see that the device (XP or android) have an IP like 192.168.0.1
And NetInfoBox inthe the HD2 show that the hd2 ip is 192.168.0.1 mask 255.255.255.0 dns : 192.168.10.110
I don't manage to connect to the vpn too when i run the hd2 with android...
i really think there is an IP conflict some where ...
update some days later :
i manage to connect to my vpn with my old samsung player addict i900 running windows mobile 6.1 ... over cell connection (of course that the objectif)
but as soon as i try to connect to any site (internet or vpn), it log me off (from the vpn) ... maybe a question of profil

Hi folks,
I'm having problems with my Wifi connection on my O2 XDA Exec.
I have a Netgear WG602 (v3) wireless access point connecting to a Telewest Cable modem (2MB).
The Telewest connection works fine (2 PCs and a laptop can connect to it wirelessly). The wireless network is unsecured at the moment. My router is set to allow connections from the Mac address on my Exec.
I can get my Exec to connect to the Netgear wireless network and the connection stays happily active - but I can't surf the net (using IE) or access email etc. It just says "the page cannot be found. Check the name and try again" or "the page cannot be displayed because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later".
Everything seems fine in my Wireless LAN connection settings on the Exec.
The status says "connected to network"
The SSID is NETGEAR
TX Rate is Auto
Mode is infrastructure
Channel 11
BSSID is 00-14-6C-55-2A-F9
MAC is 00-09-2D-98-23-14
I've set the IP in the network adapter (tiacxwin compatible wireless ethernet as 192.168.0.211 (my PC is 192.168.0.210 and the wireless access point is 192.168.0.227)
Anyone got any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

anyone?
not sure about exec but on my himalaya i go into system->connections->connections->advanced->select networks and pick the connection i want to use when i change between cellphone and bluetooth

When you first connected to the AP, a dialog box should have come up on your exec asking whether you wish to connect to the internet or to Work. Choose Internet of course!
You can also go Start > Settings > Connections > Wireless LAN
Tap the wireless icon in the bottom left, select Network Adaptors
Default is almost always work.
Select tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Ethernet, and choose the dropdown box above it to read "The Internet"
You should be in business
Thanks guys. I've done all this, and no joy.
I think I know what might be wrong. My Netgear Wireless Access Point isn't a router, so it's not allocating IP addresses out to the various connected devices. I think I might need a VPN router.

Hey CDC,
I have the exact same problem with my dopod 818 pro. What's more, I dont think you need a VPN router. My dopod was working great with my netgear at home or with any other wifi network that I had access to. Now it will connect to the network via wifi but will not allow me to browse the net. I feel the problem is with the SDIO WLAN wireless adapter. If you have solved your problem after this post, do let me know how you did it

Hi I'm having a very similar problem with my HTC touch 3G. It connects fine to my Netgear wireless router but won't let me on the Internet. My old XDA Orbit II connects fine but the newer Touch keeps reverting to the 3G connection.
Did you resolve this problem?
I have also the same NetGear WG602 Router and I have the same problem with my Tattoo (Android 1.6). Tried re-flashing the router with dd-wrt firmware to no avail. I can ping the router and I can open its settings through my mobile but I can't connect to the internet
hi guys,i have xda exec myself & a netger router ,it seems i have the same problem .i hope iam not wasting anyones time with asking for any further advice as i jave searched other threads so not to waste time of other members& forum staff. With regards mut8

Has anyone had any success with L2TP/IPSec VPNs and Windows Mobile 5 or 6? I have no problems with getting PPTP to work but have NEVER had any success with L2TP/IPSec. I have valid Client & Server Certificates but I have never been able to get a connection; in fact the HTC Wizard I have never even attempts to make a connection (I have a sniffer on the Ethernet port my Wireless AP is connected to). I have tried using Certificates & Pre-Shared Keys but the results are the same - The Wizard never attempts to connect, with PPTP it works every time.
The Server I am using is a Windows 2003 RRAS server and I have verified with a Windows XP Client that L2TP/IPSec works.
I have asked the question before but have not had any helpful replies. I would be grateful if anyone who has set this up successfully can let me know and maybe give me a run-down of the steps you used. I am not interested in any 3rd party VPN clients, it must be the built-in one.
Thanks
Andy
Hi
Yes I have had the same issue with both the wizard and now hermes tried wm5 and wm6. I think it maybe related to NAT-T translation as am unsure from my reading weather MS supports NAT-T on the mobile end. If data session is being NATed by your provider then this may be the cause. Probably need to check the ip packets comming from the phone to see what it is sending out. Is that what you did or is the sniffer at the other end.

It has nothing to do with NAT traversal. WM5 (and WM6 probably?) does NOT support NAT-T, however I am not attempting to get this working over NAT. As I said I have a put a sniffer on the Ethernet port my Wireless AP is connected to and my Wizard does not transmit anything when configured for L2TP/IPSec (except a DNS lookup for the VPN server name if I enter it's DNS name as opposed to it's IP address). With PPTP it works and I can happily see the packets it transmits on the sniffer.
This is really frustrating as it looks like no one has ever got this to work
I had a HP iPAQ 6365 previously with Windows Mobile 2003 and I managed to get it working on this quite easily

I now have this working on both the wizard and the hermes.
I am a bit confused with your last response as ipsec port 4500 is nat-t and is required and is being transmitted by both the wizard and hermes in my case.
My setup maybe somewhat different to yours as I have a windows sbs2003 server running isa and rras. It is sitting behind an adsl modem router connected to the internet. The data connection on my phone is edge network on the wizard and HSDPA on the Hermes. Also have tried this via WiFi as well.
Steps I used
On server side router
On adsl modem router setup forwarding udp ports 500 ipsec, 4500 nat-t and 1701 l2tp and protocol 50 IPsec ESP. I selected l2tp/ipsec from its predefined list but noticed it missed udp 1701 so added this manually.
On Server.
ISA management selected Network Configuration right click and selected Allow vpn connections. This essentially setups the ip filters to allow incomming protocols and then sets up rras for pptp and l2tp ports.
In rras configure a preshared key by right click server/properties/security tick allow custome ipsec policy... and added preshared key.
On mobile
settings/connections
My Work Network
Edit my vpn servers and added new IPsec/L2TP connection.
Works a treat hope this helps
I did notice on another forum something about disabling the phone skin but I did not have to do this.

What ROM are you running on the Wizard? I am currently running a WM6 ROM but I previously used the official QTEK update (AKU 2.3 I think?) and then various WM5 AKU 3.3 ROMs. I have tested this with all of them and none have worked. If I could just see it attempt to connect I would be happy The fact is it doesn't transmit anything at all and all I see is the dialogue box on the Wizard saying 'Cannot Connect'....
With regards to NAT-T I read that the VPN Client in Windows Mobile 5 was not capable of this, I could be wrong however?
Andy
Sorry didn't have signature updated I'm running WM6 MBE on the wizard and WM6 Black on the Hermes
Ok I am still confused can you tell me exactly how you are connecting to your work network. Wifi or gprs.
Can you check also.
Under settings/connections/advanced/select networks make sure you have a separate ie different connections for the internet and private network. The Intenet settings will be your service provider grps settings.
For the private network mine is set as My Work Network. Edit this and make sure sure you do not have any modem connection listed ie we want to make sure it goes out over our existing connection and does not try to make a new connection. Make sure the vpn tab has your vpn settings as required they must be listed here and not under the Internet connection.
If you are using WiFi you must make sure the network setup is Connects to: The Internet and not set to Work. If it is work the VPN will not connect. You can not change this on the fly need to disconnect and setup again.
PM Me When you get to work given time diff I should be home. Might be able to test connection to my server at home then can check logs etc
Also use Task manger v2.7 to view netsats on phone to confirm udp ports and ip routes etc. It will show you if the phone is indeed sending should see upd ports 500 4500 and 1701 being used.

I am using WiFi, this is all in a test environment so I have full control over everything. Under Connections I have 'My ISP' and 'My Work Network' listed. 'My ISP' has a modem entry, 'My Work Network' has no modem but has a VPN listed with the IP Address of the VPN server and set to L2TP/IPSec using a certificate on the device (I have tried with pre-shared key also). The WiFi entry is configured as 'Connects to The Internet'.
I enable the WiFi and verify I have connectivity, I then go to Connections, click on My Work Network, 'Manage existing connections' select the VPN tab, hold down the stylus on the entry and click connect and I almost immediately get the dialogue box saying 'cannot connect'. If I edit the VPN entry so it is PPTP it works every time. As I said I have a sniffer on so I can see what the Wizard transmits and it when set to L2TP/IPSec it doesnt transmit anything whatsoever, with PPTP I can capture the whole conversation.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Andy
Ok I have now also tried using certificates and your right it does not seem to sending any info at all. It might ahve something to do with checking the certificate store first I ahve had issues before with Cisco vpn and certificates you have to get the nameing and certification justs right before it even starts the connection.
So first thing lets try pre shared keys as I have got that working. I will PM you my server details if you wish to try that first.

I have just re-tested this and using a pre-shared key - same result
There is a brief flash of 'connecting' when you click connect but then the 'Cannot Connect' dialogue box appears, nothing gets transmitted. I have tried entering different IP addresses (public, private etc) just to see if it will transmit anything - it doesn't regardless of the IP address I enter.....

check your pm
Are you sure the wireless ap is actually passing the ipsec/l2tp traffic.
Working, well sort of.....
After a lot of messing around I now have this working, at least partially........
Following a soft-reset I can connect to a Wireless network OK (either a new one or one that is pre-configured), I can then connect the VPN using L2TP/IPSec. I can also manually disconnect the VPN and re-connect without any issues. However, when the wireless is disconnected (i.e. turned off from CommManager) and then re-connected the VPN will never work again, unless the Wizard is soft-reset.
Does anyone know what is likely to be causing this? some application in memory or a registry 'state' entry
Does anyone else see this behaviour?
Andy
I had exactly this with L2TP/IPSec on the MDA Vario II, but the same settings work as they should on my Athena.

HI!
How can you DISCONNECT?? Do you get a "Disconnect" button or menu item somewhere??
How do you know you are connected to VPN?
Thank you,
Dmitry.
A bit late but...
I have a possible solution to the fact it doesn't send ANY traffic on a connect attempt - on my XDA mini S (HTC Wizard) it requires me to put something in the 'domain' field on the username/pwd screen before it will start the IPSec negotiation....
Now I just have to get it o complete the process with the sonicwall...

I can't get PPTP going on my HD2. Thoughts?
bumping this message
I have tried all the usual vpn software (for 3g connectivity) the only third party software that connects is the ncp software, but I get stuck because it wont accept a challenge response grid.
Symantic - won't auth
Green something - doesn't connect
MS VPN - doesn't connect
I have been able to connect in the past with an iPhone, but without a java i can't connect to most motorola hardware devices at work so it's useless. I'm testing a G1 on 1.6 now and it fails to connect also. Going to try openvpn today sometime. MY friend has his Eris working, so I know droid OS works.
I work for a large company and switching vpn hardware is out of the question, so if anyone has a 3g resolution for winmo, I won't have to trade my HD2.
Hi,
L2TR VPN with the Windows Mobile is working !!
The trick with L2TR VPN on WM is to use: a IP address (and NOT a hostname)
Strange, because using a hostname with PPTP VPN on the Windows Mobile it works.
With the trick L2TR works perfectly.

Hello. This is my first foray into VPN on Win Mo. I can establish a PPTP connection between my Imagio (stock Win Mo 6.5 R1) and my SBS 2008 server. I can ping the server and can browse the company web page. But I am having no luck accessing file shares. I have Schaps Network Plugin installed, but it doesn't see/can't access the shares. Will switching to IpSec VPN work? If so, any guidance on how to set it up on SBS 2008.
As a relative new comer to the trinity (dopod d810), I wonder if when I have the unit cradled, does it access the internet via my computer's connection.
Being with Telstra in Australia, data charges are high so if I ever want to surf extensively it would be better through my pc.
If this isnt the case, how do I know. Similarly if I'm connected to a wifi network, does the phone use that internet connection by default?
Thanks, Dean
You should try disabling advanced USB mode.
Can anyone offer some advice here?
Thanks, Dean
ps - not sure what the previous posters comment had to do with it....
The simple answer is no - it uses whichever network your unit is set to use under Connections, so if it's set to use your mobile phone operator's network, that's what it will be using when accessing the Internet.

However, the PPC can be set to access the Internet through a valid LAN (via ActiveSync) or Wi-Fi network connection only by creating a *dummy* connection
If you want to access through your mobile operator again, simply switch from the dummy back to mobile operator connection, and vice versa
Nice work, I enterd the dummy connection and it seemed to work well - internet connection when cnnected to my pc, nothing when I disconnect.
Thanks, Dean
You're welcome I heard there was a software switch on the Trinity that turned data connection on and off (easier than switching connections) but so far I haven't found any on my Dopod D810
The above advice is good, but not the whole story!
All PPC devices will show 'My ISP' or whatever your GPRS connection is called, in the Network Settings/Programs that connect to....' box
If you never want to use GPRS, then the dummy connection is a good workaround. If you do envisage needing GPRS at some point, then it may be better to go into the My ISP settings, and remove the network password. This will mean that any attempt at the device connecting to GPRS will ask for the password, so you will be in control of connections.
Even if the settings are kept at the default, the device should connect via the PC when cradled, and via WiFi when successfully connected to an access point.
WM5 and WM6 are built to use Activesync/WiFI/GPRS in that order of heirarchy. If you find GPRS is still being used, there is an error in either your A/S settings, or WiFI settings.
In ActiveSync on the PC make sure under connection settings, that the default connection is The Internet, rather than Auto.
Interesting.... not trying to dispute the information given but the 'My ISP' (note: not the dummy connection that I created) entry on my D810 or 818 Pro does not contain any setting, nor does my GPRS connection requires a username or a password to access - it's locked to my SIM so is there a way to obtain a *password prompt* so to speak without using a username (with which the GPRS connection to mobile phone operator's network will be disrupted)?
PS. What A/S or Wi-Fi parameters do I need to verify if my PPC is still connecting through GRPS and not Wi-Fi (or ActiveSync)? Thanks. It doesn't appear to be overriding this setting no matter what I do (and I have tried it on 3 different D810 units to 3 different mobile network operators):
Maybe this is an operator/location specific issue with the Dopod?
If there is no username or password on the GPRS account, then it appears you are stymied when it comes to using the password 'workaround'
To check whether GPRS is being used, I suppose you could install a GPRS counter. Efficasoft GPRS Monitor is a small program and has a free trial. If you load it, and configure it to monitor all your GPRS connections, it should give you some hints as to how the connections are being used.
It may be that specific models have been 'modified' to use GPRS in preference. In UK, there is some evidence that the T-Mobile Compact III uses GPRS rather than ActiveSync (it doesn't have WiFi anyway).
It may also be worth unchecking 'Allow Wireless Connections when cradled' in the PC ActiveSync options.
Sorry I can't be more explicit!
Thanks anyway
I don't see much point in using a wireless connection when connected to a PC via ActiveSync (my D810 doesn't come with a cradle) so it looks like I'll continue with switching the network connection preference back and forth since it doesn't use my Wi-Fi or PC connection when set to connect to my mobile operator's network for Internet!!

This may do the trick!
Bandswitch enables you to switch GPRS connections on/off by tapping a coloured bar. It also has a very useful band mode switch (GSM, 3G or Auto) for those seeing excessive battery drain on 3G.
Best of all, it's free!
hi peeps,
Just have a HD. Manage to connect to orange no probs. But when i try to connect to the home wifi, it says its connected but the IE doesn't load, say 'Error' when trying to load the page.

How you connect to your home network. Do you have an AP or Router? Is your DHCP turned on? Do you have some security settings set up? We need more input data to help you.

I have a router, there is a key needed to access it but I have put that in correctly.
not sure about the DHCP, or the AP?! what are those?!
If you have a wireless router than dont need an AP (Acces Point) it's integrated into wireless router. DHCP is a service in router that assigns IP adress and getaway to your connected devices so they can connect to your network or internet, so DHCP must be turned on so you dont need to assing those values manually...
Sorry for my poor english...In Settings>Connections try to set manually IP addr. like 192.168..... the Subnet Mask with 255.255.255.0 and the Gateway with the IP router...I had the same problem with automatic settings, now work...

thanks, not sure where to set the manaual IP tho?!
I think you need to config your router sub-mask IP and your DNS Server
I have a problem with my HD connecting to my WiFi Router. I have setup my router to lock the computers WiFi MAC address to a fixed IP address. It works on all computers including HTC Touch, HTC Prophet, HTC Trinity, 2 laptops and a Desktop. It won't work on the HD, it refuses to connect. I had to leave one IP address free just for my HD which is not really a big deal, but it should work with a fixed IP assigned to a MAC address.
Anyone have any ideas?
had the same problem myself...also had it with the m3100 (my previous phone) there is a post on another forum that i followed- it didnt seem to work immediately but then I was suddenly able to connect. On gf's laptop at the mo but when I get back to mine I will find the thread & post up the text.
the answer is out there though, however it was instructions for a different phone. (you may be able to find it before I get back tomorrow)

Dlink DI-624.
I've tried a few different settings, but I finally just gave up and left one IP address free so that my HD would connect.
As I said before I don't have the issue with any other computer but the HD. Thanks.
OK you should just set these parameters like on the pictures below and everything should work fine.... My comments in pictures are red colored.

When you enable WEP encryption only ppl who knows password (Key) can acces your router thus your internet connection, so i strongly advise that you enable encryption so others can't connect if don't know the password
I hope that I helped and that it should work now...
Cheers
I have the same problem. I am trying to connect to a Netgear 834gt without success.
The Hd thinks it is connected to the router- it syas "connected" but I can't access the internet. If I access the router software, I cannot see the Hd as an attached device.
It works fine via Orange if I turn wireless networks off.
Also does the Hd have the capability of auto-switching off orange internet when you finish a browsing session, or do you have to do that manually? And do you have to have wlan turned off before you can access via orange internet? Cab Hd recognise both as options and give you a choice?

Mine connects to an 834gt too
I found it simplest to firstly turn off my MAC filter and WEP key.
Let the HD just connect to it openly, and grabbed the MAC address to add to my allowed list.
Then I turned WEP back on, and put the key on the HD.
As to switching - mine seems to use whatever it got first.
I saw seems, becuase when I'm at my desk, I get no Orange signal - so it happily drops that and uses wifi.
If I then go outside with it, it gets an Orange signal, but still uses the wifi until I move out of range of that, when it then just drops wifi and uses Orange.
hope that helps!
strange problem
Maybe I'm stupid but I cannot make my HTC HD to get a proper wifi connection using my Canyon CR-BN1 router and D-Link DWL-900AP+ access point
Auth on access point is set to Open, WEP is disabled, MAC-filter is ON (Touch HD MAC is listed), DHCP is disabled and LAN IP is set to Dynamic on access point, static DHCP is enabled on Canyon (access point MAC-address is linked to 192.168.1.4, Touch HD MAC-address is linked to 192.168.1.5). If wifi is turned on my Touch HD gets correct 192.168.1.5 (and gateway) and appears in Canyon's DHCP client list but no one internet app works IPer ping to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.4 says "gateway 192.168.1.1 is dead".
In the same time my Asus P525 internet apps work fine and IPer ping is OK.
Any thoughts?
P.S. Connection to others wifi routers is OK

Make sure your HD is set to "maximum performance" for wifi. Its the only way mine will swap data with a router, even if it appears on the router's client list.

Thank you for your post.
I changed Power Save Mode to Best Performance but still no luck
I suppose it's something "personal" between HD and "D-Link + Canyon" copule...
EDIT:
I replaced AP D-Link to Linksys WAB54g v.2 - HD started surfing

Same here. It just happened after about 2 months of trouble free operation. For a month now, it reports that it connects fine, but no application can see internet. Have read 10ths of threads, 100s of posts.. Other people in other threads have the exact same problem. Tried every solution suggested, even hard resetted, nothing.
Very angry now. There seems to be a bad batch or something?
Anyone had any luck with HTC? Maybe returned for service and fixed?
Hi!
I have been trying to connect to my to vpn pptp server (witopia.net) for 2 days. I tried every combination that i could think, but there must be something i am doing wrong. I think the mobile is trying to connect to the vpn server through gsm because everytime i try to connect the gsm signal bars disappear for a few moments. How can i make sure that the vpn connection goes through wifi?
I have managed to actually connect to the vpn server, but i cannot access websites like facebook and youtube from the Leo (I live in China and they are blocked). I am able to access blocked services through my iphone and laptop through the same vpn connection.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
PPTP on WM6 is a major problem. Especially if the server (and most do) required MPPE. Its one of the few niggles I have about WM. If you own the server your best setting up the conection using L2TP/IPSEC.
Or if you dont own the VPN server, and have a server laying around the house (as I do) you could set up your server to use the PPTP VPN then set there server as a Proxy, and connect WM6 to the server via proxy...so basically WM6>Proxy>VPN>interwebs
Hi Jagnet, Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately i am not able to use Ipsec/L2TP in China, only PPTP works fine with blocked sites.
After trying many combinations, there is a step that i havent been able to figure it out.
Once i am in Start > Settings > Connections (tab) > Connections (icon) > Advanced (tab) > Select Networks, How do i select the WIFI connection in "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using" opcion? . On the modem tab i only can choose "celullar line", "Celullar line (GPRS)" or "Hayes Compatible on COM1:", there is nothing about WIFI there, so when i try to connect at the vpn server specified in "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using", the phone seems to be trying to connect via GPRS.
¿Any ideas?
Thanks

having similar issues with HD2. CMCC as well, in China.
I am getting a proxy IP address if I check on ipchicken.com, etc
but I am not able to open FB.
I am not using the PPTP option, but using their SSL service with
openVPN. but STILL not working..
right now on support chats with witopia.
VPN PPTP is simply broken in WM. It will work, but only with no encryption at all, which beats the purpose.
First of all sorry for bumping this old thread. But I have been looking and it seems kinda close to what I`m doing, oh a little new to vpn.
I have managed to sucessfully connect the HD2 via VPN in connections only when on the lan (outwith I need to contact O2 to get it enabled apparently). I setup a dialup connection in Win 7; HD2 says I`m connected to the VPN.
However heres the thing. Am I right in thinking that folders by default have to be shared. Therefore when using resco I can see network folders anyway, when connected to wifi.
So how would I prove that I can see folders shared to the VPN and not on the LAN as I cant seem to prove whether I`m seeing the folder via LAN and not on the VPN?
Sorry if its confusing but perhaps you get my drift? Or am I missing the point entirely....
