Has there been an edit to fix the confusion when inserting contacts into SMS messages? Why do the home phone and mobile phone icons look the same when inserting contact numbers? Could there be a way to show the icons of the Mobile phone and the House the way they look in the PEOPLE contacts? Inserting contacts turns into a guess of......is it their home phone or is it their mobile phone?
I've put the same question out there 3 times....no replies yet.

I've just bought myself a shiney new Xda2, but when I put in my SIM card, I cannot access my phonebook & sms messages stored on it. Strangely though, when a number in the phonebook calls me, the Xda2 manages to access my phonebook & tells me who is calling. Any clues on how I can recover my phonebook & text messages?
use the sim manger not sure if it works havent got any numbers on my sim card but its there
Yes, use sim manager, then click and hold stylus over required number and choose save to contacts, if you want them all saved to contacts then choose select all then save to contacts. I have no idea about the sms messages.
Thanks for the assistance. ^_^ I can get by without the text messages. I believe they were stored on my old phone itself, rather than the SIM card, so no transferring them. :/
hi guys, just asking whether there is a way to make the built in messaging program search the no other than mobile phone no in my contacts? (what I mean is when I wan to send an sms to one of my contacts, we can just type a few letter of the contact name and a list of mathing name will pop up and then you can choose from that list. but the only no showing is for mobile phone only. some of my contact has more than 1 mobile phone no.)

Hi, when you press phone to open your contacts, you get the Phone contacts AND the Sim contacts, how do you filter just one or the other.?
I like to keep a backup copy of my contacts on the sim, not just the phone, but i now get 2 enetries for each contact?
Go to People tab > All people > Menu > View and choose contacts or sim.
Yeah that i worked out, but when you press the phone button, it still shows phone contacts AND SIM untill you press the all people button????

Not only that it shows all the emails too, i also deleted them all, and 10 mins later they are back??

I select to filter sim contacts. close it. even restart but it still shows both sim contacts and phone contacts.

Use a registry editor and do this tweak:

That hides the SIM contacts in the dialer only. They still show up in e-mail and sms screens, but at least it's not in the dialer any more!

Does anyone else have the problem when you turn your phone off then turn it back on all your text are saved as sim text. So it doesnt show anyones pic or real contact info unless you recieve a text then it goes back to the correct contact. Is there any way to make this stop? I like to have contacts on my sim and phone just in case one something happens to one I have the other.
why dont you sync your contacts to my phone its a free microsoft service that will allow you to backup and restore your contacts through the web directly from your phone!
I have a tidy phonebook, so I only have about 60-70 contacts. I like it that way easy and fast to find the people I contact. However when I want to send a sms and select the phonebook it list about 300 contacts/items. Not only does it split all contacts into 1 line pr phonenr/email but it also display my email contacts etc.
How can I change this ? The settings button does nothing :crying:
