Htc rom upgrade - HD2 General

There's a ROM upgrade for the HD2 at http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=804 . I enter my phones serial number, and get this message "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.".
It's definitley the right serial number, and the rom version is 1.43.206.4 (70315) WWE.
I'm with 02.
Any idea why they are disallowing this phone to upgrade ?.

because your phone is an o2 phone and not generic. you will have to use the gold card - use the search on this forum to find out how

I suspected as much, thanks for the confirmation.
As for searching the forums, I'm not having a lot of luck with that, there appears to be a problem with searching the forums (maybe it's just me)
I got one result for "gold cards", that was under a thread that was about an SMS problem, a search for SMS or sms returned no results, I've put in a number of searches in recent days, most returning no results whatsoever, can anyone suggest if a) I'm doing something wrong, or b) there's a problem with the search engine, or maybe even a c).

Try looking in the ROM Development section of the LEO Forum

Thanks, I will.
I really just wanted wifi router as 02 removed it, found a way round that, so will take my time before doing anything else.

Sticky: Post ROM Updates News Here

Hi all, I thought it would be a good idea to monitor the progress of ROM Updates for devices.
I have the O2 Xda Exec and experience the following issues:
Slowness
Crashing at least once a day requiring reset
When phone goes to 'Searching' mode it gets stuck there (<- anyone elsee seeing this?)
I spoke to O2 Data Support today. They state they are aware of the first 2 of these issues, and are working to release a ROM Update. They refused to give any timeframe, but did say it was expected to be quite fast due to the growing number of users.
Anyone got any more info out of anyone as yet? It may make the difference between keeping the device or sending it back for a refund.

Many thanks for starting the thread....
I also got the same information after someone from the O2 stores.
I wouldn`t advice anyone updating their O2 XDA Exec with other ROMs as this will invalidate your warrenty and you`ll no longer be entitled for support.
O2 are responsible to support us and the devices they sold other will need to compensate us for inferier service offered.
if I flash the rom
if I flash the rom of an O2 Exec with I-mate's,
and i have errors and flash back to O2 rom.
Will they notice?
Will I auto. lose my warranty ?

Not sure but doubt it....
Reply from O2
We do provide the software updates for the Xda. The O2 Xda Exec is a newly
launched mobile phone so we do not have the software updates for this mobile
phone on our website www.my-xda.com.
We will be updating our website soon.
I also have the same problem on a Exec, when it looses service, oftern it will not go back into service until i soft reset it.
I have spoken to data support, and are waiting for a cal back, They said they was unaware of this so i have pointed them to this forum

I've done some digging and it looks to me like the Exec ROM update will appear here:
http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html
Just a beta page for now, under construction. Other interesting pages too at:

I also had a word with HTC (the original OEM) in an exchange of emails, who assured me they are currently working on a new rom with all parties involved that will improve performance, speed, memory management and video quality. These are issues they are addressing in software adding that the capabilities in hardware are there but not fully exploited by this gold release of the MS O/S WM 2005, so patches are on the way...

I've just checked www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html and it says the latest software for download is v1.13.139.
So this may seem a silly question to most people but… does this refer to the rom version (which seems the most obvious to me) or the extrom version, as my own rom versions are:
ROM Version: 1.13.48 WWE
ExtROM Version: 1.13.139 WWE
so do I have an old rom?
thanks in advance
Must be ExtROM. As it says:
"This is the software Xda Exec has been first launched with in the UK and Ireland:
V1.13.139
Only install this software if your device has become corrupted by software installations or by a ROM restore meant for a different Xda model"
Nice to see the site coming to life though.
THE UPDATE IS NOW AVAILABLE: http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html

Don't you? (Without login)
Otherwise it is an old update with the same ROM than the previous ones (1.13) but with some new cabs in extendedROM (188)
Yes, your URL is exactly what my URL leads you to :?
So, is v1.13.188 just a set of updated cab files? or does it actually have some improvements for the running of the device?
The site says the latest version "improves the O2 active UI", and also "disables error reporting" Surely these are no great improvements! I think most of has have either setup our exec in corporate mode - removing the O2 UI, and disabled error reporting. Or maybe we've even re-flashed our rom with the Qtek version, which seems a lot quicker and more stable!
Can anyone give more details of what v1.13.188 actually improves on?
Cheers

Yes, you are right. This version contains just a set of updated cab files.
ROM is the same.
Can you qualify your answer that the ROM is the same?
When I check the version numbers before, they have changed for 'CE Image' and 'Extended Image'. The only thing that doesn't is the Radio version.
What is the version number for the ROM, if it is not one of the above? I am sure the whole running of the device is much better. You also get a new battery indicator, new desktop theme, faster screen updates on changes of orientation, etc.
How do you know the ROM is unchanged?
*Update: In 'Device Information' the "ROM version" used to be 1.13.48, now it is 1.13.82! This is a new ROM!
Because the ROM (not ExtendedROM) version number is 1.13 than the others. The end of this number .188 is the version of ExtendedROM.
But maybe I missed something.
So the device as a whole runs faster with the update?
I have compared my 32-bit exec to my 16-bit xda-miniS, and the miniS runs about 4 times faster than the exec, even though the data bus is slower, and the processor (195mhz) is slower.
Can anybody confirm it it fixes the delay on wakeup? sometimes a have to wait around 10 seconds before i can use the device after i have brought it out of standby!
Cheers

hiya - i'm guessing this issue has already been addressed somewhere... i'm also assuming that i'm too inept to search the correct terms - lol.
what i have is an HTC Touch HD which i bought on eBay (as new) and today received it back from a drop issue RMA from HTC America... apparently this unit is Dutch, and as such, it was flashed to the original settings. i never opened any of the UE inclusives in the package when i received the phone because i was simply upgrading from a Touch Pro to the HD, so what's the bother?
anywhooo... i managed to flash WM 6.5 (Miri's v.7-something) today, and am not at all comfortable with the performance. what i would like to achieve is an English rom flash of WM 6.1 & the original (English) HTC factory settings and perhaps go from there. things i am unable to do with the latest (6.5) flash are items such as 'stocks', 'simple-view' of the today screen (such as i was used to) and so on...
if there be any chance someone might point me in the right direction, i certainly would appreciate it.
if this thread needs to be moved, please feel free to do so & contact me either thru this link or directly at my email address - been almost a month without this phone & i ACHE to have it back to the familiar, user-friendly manner that it once was. lol.
thanks every1 John - ezbay.sales
Welcome to XDA-Developers! Please take a moment to review the rules with regards to searching before posting.
That being said...
Checkout the Blackstone Wiki. It will point you to exactly what you are looking for. [Hint: You want a WWE ROM]

Call timer

Hi,
I have been looking for a software compatible with HD2 which would show me calling times - how much of my free minutes I used. I used BatteryStatus on my previous phone but it does not seem to be a good choice for HD2 if I want to use Sense. Regarding BatteryStatus - there was another good thing about it. If I got a number in SMS, this soft replaced it with a name if the number was in my contacts.
Do you think you could give me an advice how to solve this? BTW, I was doing my best to find out something in this forum but was not successful. If those questions were answered already, I claim myself as unable to search and I am sorry for starting a new thread

Omnia II freezing

Greetings,
New to the forum and from what I can tell there is a lot of great information to be had.
I have an issue I was hoping to get some direction on. Our co. just deployed about 10 new Omnia II's and half of them freeze up and the end user has no choice but to pop the battery out to continue.
I have used the search feature but I'm not finding any info. on this issue and how to resolve it. It could be out there and it's possible I'm not plugging in the correct wording.
Does anyone have any info. on this issue and how to resolve?
Thank you in advance.
if they are brandnew, then hard reset them. thats what I would do if it was mine.
yes a hard reset should fix it. Also note that you may want to install a custom rom to get more ram out of the device
hi guys,
I've got a similar problem with my device from the very beginning.
the hard reset is a solution but it's really annoying!!!!!
aspecially when my wife catches me doing that her smile in her face makes me sick..
(she uses the iphone 3gs)
So my device starts hanging after a period which changes between 1-3 months.
I could still not figure it out what happens. I've got the feeling that a service or a file causes to slow down the device extremely.
I tried to find out from the task manager to see which service takes the most resources.
but when the device slows down the task manager hangs aswell when trying to retrieve the information.
I'm using the taskmanager V2.8 from fdcsoft
for some reason I got the feeling it has to do with the messaging services. I've setup a pop3 account from my e-mail which I use frequently. using max 5kb for the attachements etc.
anybody who can share or got any idea about that?
which rom version are you using?
Try an upgrade...
One thing:
Just show your wife, how you remove your battery, how you plug in an Storage-card, how you do REAL multitasking, how you send EVERY FILE YOU WANT via Bluetoot, how you use your phone as USB-Stick, and MUCH MUCH MORE and smile back at her
Regards
Hi,
WM 6.5
PDA: I8000JUIK2
I've upgraded a couple of months ago just for that reason.
the upgrade was released in the Samsung Web site.
Thanks for the other suggestion
Your rom is 8Month old...
Update your phone. You can have WM6.5.3 if you like to! I really love the I8000NXXJEx Roms. There are WM6.5 and WM6.5.3 Roms available.
I´m using JE3 for at least 2months now(since it was released) and I´m absolutely fine with it!
But dump your own Rom before you upgrade...
If you need help just tell me.
Regards
I see,
could be helpful.
But I'm not sure whether I would loss my warranty.
Is that really possible? I mean dumping the ROM
for a long time I was just tracking local forums and so far I was not satisfied with the knowledge of the people.
Is there a way to returen to my org. ROM if I need. that means the local service will not realize that?
IT IS POSSIBLE! Its really easy!
I think in this thread you will find everything you need! If you don´t, PM me, and I will upload it for you, but its not my application so all credits go to somone else!
You get your original Rom als .nb0 file. Flash it back with octans and everything ist as it has been.
Another thing is: you can watch whether there are updated ROMs for your Country available(perhaps via NPS or Kies).
