I just noticed that, when viewing all messages in conversation mode, the date format is mm/dd/yy despite my regional settings having the date format in dd/mm/yy. If I view messages 1-by-1 in the order they were received (ie. from the main HTC messaging tab), the date format is shown correctly according to my regional settings.
Anyone else noticed this?
never bothered to look before, but mine does the same.

I guess it's an oversight by HTC. The regional settings date format is a windows setting, which doesn't neccessarily affect programs that run on the phone. It's one of those things that a developer can just miss. They'll probably release 5 hotfixes or a ROM to fix just this 1 issue (knowing HTC).

I have a TouchHD imported (of course) into Canada. The SMS works fine...but when I receive messages they are all 5 hours behind (my timezone).
When they arrive on my motorola, they are perfect time. So it's a phone thing...not a rogers thing.
Anyone know how to force the SMS messages to be offset by a timezone amount?
I found the answer in another HTC forum. The solutions is to NOT trust the providers date & time...and use the phone's internal clock:
HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\
Create a DWORD: "TrustTimeZoneField"
Value: "0"

Are you sure that you have set the timezone correctly on the phone?
(sorry to ask for the painfully obvious, but that is the only thing I know to cause this problem)
Yes timezone was correctly set.
I had the exact same problem as I am on Rogers as well. This solution was suggested to me and it worked

Same problem with my diamond as well with rogers.
Worked like a charm
Thanks.
Canada Rogers SMS time offset
I recently recieved the new samsung captivate from Rogers this week and it appears that this timezone offset is also affecting my phone's sms. I was told by the rogers technical support that they are working on a patch that will fix these issues and have been added to a list of callbacks whenever such a patch is available.
The only two other minor issues that I am currently having with this phone are:
1. that the album view doesn't seem to work in the music player
2. Samsung Kies doesn't seem to recognize my phone
I wonder if these two other issues are related because if Kies was working it may be the only way for album view to work? I'm new to android so forgive my ignorance. When I connect my Device it basically lists 3 options, the first of which is stated as " Kies (firmware update)", however Kies will not recognize my device in this mode and therefore will not update my firmware. This hasn't been exactly what I anticipated when I signed up for a flagship phone for android on Rogers, but like most things I'm sure a fix will come.
At the moment I am using doubletwist and selecting not the "mass storage" option upon USB connection. The only difficulty I've had is uploading MP4 movies using this software so I'm open to any suggestions of how to upload movies to my device
i looking at my date format on my inbox and its set 01/06/10 but my region is set to uk etc any ideas? or am i missing something
Yes, I get that too. Not sure why tho as everything else appears in the correct format.
You kinda get used to it. Perhaps a little americanisation aint a bad thing!
awww so no solution
any fix to this problem yet?
Go to settings and change the regional settings to UK

They are already set to U.K. ..... its only within the SMS app that they display as mm/dd/yyyy everywhere else they are set as dd/mm/yyyy
I've never had this issue AFAIK, but then I delete SMSs once read...I've got one in my inbox at the mo so I'll leave it until tomorrow and see what happens

Ok thanks!
I can also add that changing date format from dd mm yy to dd m yy in regional settings doesn't help either.
Any solution to this yet?
Still nothing,
It's annoying ...
Cola ( not to violate any law ) for the good tip!
I have Australian locale settings set, which should display date dd/mm/yyyy
It displays that way some places, but it displays US format in:
SMS
conversation view
Picture/video properties
Calendar alarm notification pop-ups
... possibly more. I would really love a solution to this. I wrote to HTC but they brushed it off. In fact, they tried to tell me it depended on the setting on the device a photo was taken on or that synced the calendar entries. Pfft! All my photos were taken on the phone.
I'm sure we all want to have the option of looking at our emails in full HTML format by default on our HD2's. Does anyone know how to configure this option. A registry tweak would be nice.
Using the following route for GMAIL you can change your account settings to show 'The Entire Message' and download 'All attachments' by default by still doesn't give the solution we need.
Instructions :-
Go to the Inbox of any account
-> click on the menu key (right soft)
-> on the pop-up menu, select Tools>Options...
-> choose an account to edit
We need an expert on the case! Please.......................
Would it explain why accents don't display ?
Basically, I had an iPhone before and when I received an email, the entire message was downloaded. Pictures & text etc. and you were able to scroll about the entire message without any issues or having to do anything else to gain access to the rest of the email.
On the HD2, I have managed to get the majority of the message downloaded but still not "internet Pictures" are allowed to be downloaded and you have to push another option to scroll right if the email is quite large.
I know that Safari is a different program and not affected by malware and such like but I would like something similar on the HD2.
Are there any tweaks or CABs to fix this???
Thanks
I have been looking for a fix for this since I got my HD2 but it seems that there is no fix.
This is the main thing that is anoying me about this phone (Even more than the sms issue) I cant belive there is not 1 person on here that can hack this and let us download everything by default.
Anyway there is a HUGE donation for anyone who can do this!!
Regards,
Adam Rees
Someone else RAGING about the same things I am!
I think hell just froze over. The 1.6x ROM was pretty good in comparison to the 1.48 ROM. When that is officially been released then texting will be better.
BsB tweaks 1.6 will solve the texting issue till then. It has for me (for the most part).
Tim
Yup this annoyed me on the Touch HD also. There must be a registry setting somewhere that will enable the automatic download of pictures for html messages by default. Although this would mean spammers could potentially validate your email if the spam hits your inbox.

Are you serious?
Last year Safari was the second most-vulnerable browser (after FireFox), and most of those vulnerabilities targeted the iPhone version.
My HD2 has stopped displaying conversation history. When I get a new SMS I can see the 'preview' in the All Messages screen, but when I tap it I just get a blank history, with the senders name at the top. The phone is still functional, so it's not crashing, it's just not displaying any history.
Any ideas? If it's of any consequence I have Swype and TouchPal installed as additional keyboards - Don't see how that will affect this though.
Appreciate any help.
EDIT - I should say, restarting the device does not help matters, and if I switch to Traditional Mode I can see all the messages. I have the SMS Fix supplied by HTC installed, and can see the message count next to the name on Conversation Mode, so all the messages are still stored - just not viewable.
double check your phones date and time are set correctly, I saw this when i restored txts after a flash a week or so ago, and i'd forgotten to set the date.
Thanks for the reply mate. Time & date are set correct though, just double checked.
Does anyone think reinstalling the SMS Fix / patch might resolve it?
Yes it did - if anyone gets this same error - a reinstall of the Hotfix worked. Must have screwed up somehow.
Hi all,
I'm using the factory Messages program & I noticed that in some conversations (not all) my replies are misplaced.
They should be the last message in the threaded sms, but they're not.
I did a hard reset, but am still having the same problems.
Please advice,
D
Are you using a 3rd party sms app? What ROM are you using?
Have the same issue - factory, bone stock device. All my incoming SMS's are 4 hours behind, so they often show up far before my latest outgoing SMS in a conversation.
Some people recommended changing your time-zone around to adjust for the difference when I searched around, but then the rest of my phone gets messed, e.g. email timestamps are then wrong.
It's a network issue I think. I have an unlocked TELUS HTC Hero and an unlocked Virgin Mobile HTC Legend and both suffer the same timestamp problem (mine is 4 hours behind) when used on Rogers Wireless. I thought it might be an Android related problem, but my Sony Ericsson X10 didn't have the problem. /shrug
There is an app that will fix the problem though. Search for “SMS Time Fix” by Matthew Precious.
I'm using stock app. stock ROM.
Right now my setting is:
Menu > Settings > Date & time > Automatic (Use network-provided values).
I'm gonna un-check Automatic & select my own timezone see if that fixes the issue.
Will report back.
Thanks all.
D
Everything stock here too. Try the app posted above to fix it.
ok,
downloaded & installed the SMS Time Fix by Matthew Precious.
But now I have another problem:
When the newly incoming message arrives, it'll show on the status bar. When I pull down the bar to go to that message, I can't find it. meaning the new message is deleted automatically.
The only program I can blame is the SMS Time Fix program.
I uninstalled the program, & so far so good.
weird..
