Hi,
Is it possible ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1539468&posted=1
Thks !
elf's cpu
CPU: 32bit Texas Instruments OMAP 850
nike's cpu
CPU: 32bit Qualcomm MSM7200 (SoC)
because nikes is called touch II dont mean that they have the same cpu
nikes cpu have onchip gps
not sure if elf's does
names can be very decieving
Thx for precision.
The Touch HD uses Qualcomm MSM7200A cpu, same as sony-erricson Xperia X1, but X1 uses GPU while Touch HD is without. The iPhone uses faster CPU (underclocked) but allso has a GPU unit. This makes the Touch HD the worst phone in this range concerning the hardware for anything concerning graphics (like games)
Am i correct?
No you are not.
Diamond, Pro, HD, X1 are all the same.
There is an interesting thread discussing this in massive detail located Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442712
I'm currently using a cooked ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465637) that has better hardware acceleration baked in... Example I can reset device and run VR similation without having to reload 3d hardware drivers described in first link)...
Over time I expect we will see more fine tuning like this.

You are right, i was confused as X1 specification had a GPU unit specified separately while HTC devices dont mention anything about it. The MSM7200A has integrated GPU, so basically it is really the same. Ok... i am glad i am wrong
sorry for duplicate reply.. keep getting error 500 internal server error
actually the diamond, pro & hd use the 7201a processor. the older polaris (touch cruise) and kaiser uses the 7200
As you all,, (who know that -TOUCH HD- IS NOT a shiny brick with a big screen),, know HTC TOUCH HD has a Qualcomm MSM7201A cpu...
The Qualcomm MSM7201A cpu IS a DUAL CORE CPU----- in this page: http://www.qualcomm.com/news/releas..._on_Qualcomms_Advanced_Dual-Core_Chipset.html : its written """Qualcomm has optimized the Android software by integrating it with Qualcomm's MSM7201A-a single chip, dual-core solution that combines high-speed processing, hardware-accelerated multimedia capabilities, 3D graphics and built-in, multi-mode 3G mobile broadband connectivity for an optimal wireless experience.""""
HTC TOUCH HD has the same cpu as the G1!!!!
So I wish to know-- is it possible to get these two cores working in Windows Mobile 6.1, with any ROM or Tweak,or will we have to wait for WM 6.5 or WM 7???? (btw does WM6.5 use dual core)
If you didnt understand something, then ask-- Ill try to tell it differently!!!
Im latvian and Im still learning English!!!
btw full HD specs-- http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=1469
think it's more driver related issue.

Its not an issue, or maybe it is....-- I have heard that WM6.1 just doesnt support Dual Core but WM 7 will support it....---- That means that somewhere or someone has these drivers or anything to make our Touch HD support dual core
this is nice. maybe the developers of the android version for the touch hd can optimize the drivers for "bringing the horses to the cpu".
maybe....maybe....
AFAIK, it's a lower level than drivers; multi-core support would have to be built into the scheduler of the kernel. So don't get your hopes up.

does this kernel support multi core cpu and is this testable? i know the speed is really nice but it this quite faster than an optimized win 6.1 rom?
Does it mean that second core is idle now?

Yes it is idle if you use WM 6.1 ( all of us use it !!!! )
Android supports dual core-- uses both cores!!
one of them is used for phone and related GSM functions, the second one is for whole OS...but maybe i'm wrong...I read it somewhere, but can't remember where exactly
excuse me guys but is possible to make our blackstone totally an android system-based?

Naah--- OS and Phone is using only one cpu (1st core) --- other cpu (2nd core) stays completely idle-- not used not stressed -- just standing there for nothing!!!
If HTC would update us with Windows Mobile 7 (when its out) then we would have a dual core Ppc and a Dual Core capable OS..... But now we have only a dual core ppc
I think that "DualCore single chip solution" means that the CPU and the ATI graphics core are together in one package! DualCore PPC sounds to futuristic to me! Even the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon is not DualCore to my knoledge!

No its dual core ( two cpu's ) even snapdragon is dual core -- just google "dual core qualcomm" first thing which comes out is snapdragon- dual core capable of 1.5 ghz...look further an youl see that qualcomm MSM7xxx cpus are dual core --- two cpus
---OK **** the discusion about the cpu:
CAN WE GET SOMEKINDA DRIVER OR ROM WHICH HAS DUAL CORE SUPPORT???
WILL WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR WINDOWS MOBILE 7, OR CAN WE GET OUR HANDS ON DUAL CORE A BIT EARLY????
I think at the moment Linux/Android is our best hope
I'm sorry, but can you post proof? A link to an official document stating the device actually has 2 CPU CORES?
The Qualcomm MSM720X chipset has one cpu core, and a gpu which are on the same chip. That's all.
And no, there's no driver for it. Why do you think there are so many topics about a Graphics driver missing in MSM720x devices? Simple. Because Qualcomm never released them in public, and OEMs have to pay licensing fees for them.
Please don't confuse people on XDA with this rumors based on nothing, research your stuff before making a topic out of it.

Must we trust you, a random guy from latvia, who disses a phone off in his signature wich you couldnt compare to.(toshiba)
Should we trust you just if you say that you read somewhere that the chipset supperts dual core?
Mayb the guys from qualcomm mean that there is ONE cpu, and ONE gpu...so 2 cores on the same chip...dual core?
Hey and why HTC pay for a chipset who is not using it's full capabilities...i think they learned from the TyTn II driver debacle and dont do this anymore.
Theres no such thing as dual core in our chipsets, it is only CPU+GPU.
Gr Bram
excuse me for my english

thomas.clatter meant Android, not win mobile 6.x and with his android - text he`s right, one cpu is for the gsm (and so on) stuff, the other is for the OS.
i hope we get our second cpu back from idle somehow.. -> android
Edit:
so, finally, its not the same CPU series from Qualcom like in the G1 Phone from HTC? Then we can stop the discussion about dual core @ blackstone - for sure.
REALLY BIG MISUNDERSTANDING (FOR ME)
THE CPU IS DUAL CORE AS CPU AND GPU INTEGRATED ---http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_phone --- by the cpu spec is written dual core- cpu/gpu, basicaly its dual core as one cpu and one gpu -- I gues the PC and PPC worlds arent so even!!!
MY MISTAKE, BUT PEOPLE ARE MISUNDERSTANDING IT EVERYWHERE--- JUST GOOGLE IT, PEOPLE ARE CONFUSED EVERYWHERE, AND IM ONE OF THEM :| !!!!!
SORRY FOR THE BIG CONFUSION, DELETE THIS WHOLE THREAD PLEASE!!
HTC just announced the Desire Z version of their "Vision" handset that is identical to the G2. It runs a newer version of HTC Sense that's got a lot of nice new enhancements. I expect G2 owners will want to port this in a hurry.
Desire Z will be available in October in Europe and Asia only.

That fast boot is crazy. I'm loving the phone, definitely fast. However the phone looks VERY thick.
so its called "HTC fast boot". I wonder if that means the G2 won't have it. I'd be a lot more likely to turn my phone off and save battery if I knew I could turn it back on that quick
The Desire Z has 1.5GB of internal memory from what I've read at Engadget, not 4.
Infact, your source also says 1.5GB internal memory.
Where are they getting that the CPU is 2x faster than Snapdragon? For all we know it's the same CPU shrunk to 45nm, so it should be the same speed.
Its possible HTC said that at the event? I'm just speculating.. I would be happy if its 2x faster.. lol.

a lot of the performance gain is from the Adreno 205 GPU as opposed to the older Adreno 200 GPUs on the Desire, HD2 and Evo. The Desire HD, however, also has the Adreno 205.

Not really sure if that equates to better performance, but it is more efficient.
If you think about it, past 1st gen snapdragon phones had very poor GPUs which made the CPU look slower. Maybe the upgraded GPU adds speed to an otherwise speedy CPU.
That could be true. Maybe the GPU in earlier Snapdragons was bottlenecking the CPU. Makes sense.. I also think these can be OC'ed more without issues due to the 45nm architecture.
but will the 1300mah battery life survive?
I think it should be better. The shrinkage in die size results in a more efficient CPU, which emits less heat and consumes less power. If it was 1500mAh it would have been super, but I think 1300 mAh will be pretty good.
Maybe, just maybe HTC might release 1500 batteries, which will be sold separately. Or we might have to turn to aftermarket battery makers to satisfy our needs! (obviously not the extended version, same size but higher mAh)

I've heard that the MSM7x30 is actually the new 1Ghz Snapdragon underclocked at 800Mhz. Apparently that info is on the qualcomm website somewhere. If true then hell yeah the CPU can be overclocked, at the expense of battery power though.

The video on youtube titled "htc desire z - a closer look" is pretty amazing (i can't post links as i'm too new to this site). i'm just wondering how much is sense and how much will be on the g2...

Notice that those specs specifically mention that the CPU is 2x faster and the GPU is 5x faster, so when they say the CPU is 2x faster, they are not talking about the performance boost gained from using the Adreno 205, they are specifically referring to a faster CPU core. That's what I'm wondering about, the GPU is faster for sure, but all evidence points to a CPU that performs the same (or worse, due to the 200MHz slower clock) but shrunk to 45nm for better power efficiency.
You guys think the g2 will get dlna functions?
We don't know. AFAIK, the Desire Z doesn't have DLNA, nor does the Desire HD. All we can do is wait for it to be released, or reviews of it to come out.

The Desire Z seems to have DLNA, according to HTC. It's around 4 mins into the promo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly4C0TXmnlQ
ppl... clock speed is like horsepwoer in a car. its not the only determinant of performance. other stuff matters in a car right? like aerodynamics, weight, transmission etc? same for a chip. engineering matters. 2nd gen snapdragons are 2nd gen for a reason... they're better

You don't understand, Snapdragon is not a chip, it's a chipset or SoC. The CPU in Snapdragon is called Scorpion, and the G2 supposedly uses the same CPU, except manufactured in a 45nm process rather than a 65nm process. So except for the clock speed, we shouldn't expect any changes in the performance of the CPU.
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_goes_all_in_with_7_surround_hd7_7_trophy_and_7_mozart-news-1992.php
This link says that the HD7 is the same HD2 with different OS.. So i guess the drivers designed for the HD7 should work in HD2. And it uses the same processor QSD 8250..So Wht yu People think?
I Dont see where it says it uses the QSD 8250 ? it only states a 1ghz cpu, could be any model. But we could be lucky
its listed on engadget tho
http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/11/htc-hd7-is-a-hd2-lookalike-with-windows-phone-7-and-720p-video/
qsd8250
And its clear enough here
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_hd7-3338.php
And microsoft had given their own drivers for the gpu ADRENO 200 (which the hd2 uses, it will increase the performance by 200% it seems).. And only qsd8250 is certified by windows for now. tats y htc released all four phones with qsd 8250 while desire hd uses qsd8255 with adreno 205
