Hi
I am a little bit confused about the following WIKI Entry:
* PVT32A handsets have 288MB total RAM (192MB usable by OS - same as Hero handsets) and use the Qualcomm MSM7200A CPU.
* PVT32B handsets have 192MB total RAM (96MB usable by OS) and use the Qualcomm MSM7201A CPU.
My Swisscom Magic displays PVT32B on fastbootscreen, but it has 239MB Memory available.
Is that an already updated version or do I have an exotic version?
Strange thing is, that if I try to update to cyanogen following the Full Update Guide, I can't downgrade to 1.5 because of "invalid version.."
Any Idea about this?
32B has 192 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. If you refer to what's displayed under "SD Card and Memory", then what you see there is your internal storage's (=ROM) free space, not your free memory(RAM).

What does ROM and RAM means related to the HTC TyTn ?
HTC TyTn ROM = 128 MB
HTC TyTn RAM = 64 MB
When you install application to the "Storage Memory", where will it be installed ? in the RAM ?
What are installed in the ROM ?
Where the default application from the provider (e.g. T-Mobile) are installed ?
Thanks!

The 128 MB of Flash ROM is broken into two parts:
- 64 MB for "Storage" (think hard disk space)
- 64 MB for "Program" execution (also called "RAM")
Programs reside in storage until they are activated (at which point they are also loaded into RAM). The amount of RAM you have available is what's left after loading the OS.
The carrier apps are also stored in ROM/RAM.
RAM is used to run applications. Its content gets lost on power off.
ROM (Flash RAM indeed) is used to store firmware, to install user applications and to keep data. Its content is kept even without power. "Extended ROM" is also a part of 128MB "ROM".
As I understand, HTC TyTN has NAND flash, and so no XIP and PagePool consumes a lot of RAM, though making things to run faster.
A good reading for beginners is here and here.
I don't like the tendency to call flash memory that is writeable as "ROM" (=Read-Only Memory). IMHO it provides a lot of confusions.
Very good explanation Lurker0, and both articles are worth reading for anyone!
Hello
If someone can help me identify my phone?
Fastboot says:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0007 (SAPP 10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.23.02
In the configuration, memory and SD-Card gives: Internal memory - 273 MB available (!)
So, it is 32 B, 32 A, or some hybrid?!
Cover has Vodafone logo.
What ROM and recovery will be the best?
At this moment I use Cyanogen 6.0.0.-DS (Ion / myTouch)
Does someone have any idea?…
that is indeed very interesting.... O_O
Doesn't 32A and B both have the same internal storage? I believe yours is 32B but correct me if I'm mistaken.
32 A has different CPU and more RAM (285 MB or something) - 32 B has only 192 MB...
Internal memory = storage space, NOT RAM. You've got a 32B with a confused SPL.

I agree :0)
Both the radio version and the fastboot info indicates that it's pure 32B device.
Maybe flash a eng spl and see if the "unknown" problem goes away.
NAND Android on my TMOUS HD2 shows total RAM 411mb.
Isn't it supposed to show 576mb? What happened to rest of it?
128mb is for the graphic card and the rest i guess for the drivers
Hi
i have just installed CyanogenMod 6.1 on my mt3g (without headphone jack)
and i have only 90MB of system memory - isn't that model suppose to be 192MB ram?
my system:
PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H
CPLD-10
Radio 2.22.19.261
CyanogenMod 6.1
RA-V1.7.0G
Thanks
yes... but the OS takes some of it..
but i have only 22MB ram available after reboot - very low
i read at somewhere else this could be a Radio issue?
which spl do you have?
Your radio is fine...

You might have silent apps installed killing your memory?
some ram is used for FS's that exist in ram so that they can be temporarily writeable and faster access. Caches and such as well.
But i think the missing "ram" is taken up by the protected parts of the OS. roughly the same is missing from the A and B models, leaving 200MB or so for A models and 90ish for the B models for userspace.
Hi, everybody!
I have TMoUS HD2 and wiki says it has 576mb RAM, though EU version has 446mb of RAM (locked by radio).
"Settings - About Phone" says: Mem info (available/total): 224/411MB
Where is the rest of RAM (576-411=165mb)?
HSPL 2.08
Radio: 2.15.50.14
CLK 1.4.0.1
ClockWork Mod 4.0.0.0
Typhoon v3.4.1
Graphics chip takes 128 as the phone starts regardless what rom is installed, so in real, usable terms tmous has 448, not 576.
As to why another 20some meg vanishes under android, I don't know, but it happens to everyone. We all show 411 under android,
